You have just made my day! I've been hunting all over for a pattern on how to do this. You have my triple vote of approval and appreciation for this video. There are a couple of other videos about this, but they weren't quite as helpful as yours. I'm & going to have to get a Pringles tube & a used cereal box & start making these guys as gifts for my quilting friends. Thank you so much. Those of us who DIY really appreciate the time it takes to do these videos 😉👍 Sewing happy, Patty 🧓😂
The Pringles was a bonus! I’m going to make some in advance and give as gifts for all my crafty friends. You spoke slower and softly which was refreshing. While I played the videoover and over again I was actually making it WITH you. I enjoyed it. I can get 12 out of a Pringles can. I’m recycling cereal boxes, Pringle cans & old fabrics! THANK YOU for sharing!!
we are a group of like minded woman ,i saw this tutorial and spent the day showing all our group how to make this wonderful collapsible thread catcher,we all loved making it Big thank you
Hi Angie, I have lost count of the videos I've watched this morning of different people making this thread catcher..... each one making it look more of a faff than the last! Thank you for helping me to get it at last. I'm happy to subscribe to your channel as I hope to see more of your videos. God bless❤
THIS has got to be one of the most ingenious things I've ever seen!! Not to mention ADORABLE!! It just seems like it would take ""forever""..... but LOVE!!!!!
I just watched your video about how to finish a paper piecing project, and then this video. You are a natural teacher and made everything understandable. Pace was just right, and I am looking forward to following you as a new subscriber!
This is cute. Being a sewer for 30 some odd years, with lots of scrap material. Made a Cow Pie with my scraps. Great idea to use these for. Thanks for sharing your video.
I have made several of these and refer back to your video every single time. Love them as gifts for sewing friends, and can never have too many myself!
Just wanted to say This is so clever! My Mother in law travels often and is a cross stitcher.. This is going to make a perfect Christmas gift... I found you video to be soothing and easy to follow...!
I was stuck in all my quilting projects, so I made this as a pallette cleanser. It went together in an evening and is so cute! And it kick-started my quilting mojo. Thank you for posting this!
This is so wonderful. I don't sew much but I do make beaded jewelry and for some time have wanted a small container like this to hang on the side of my work table. Thank you so much for answering a prayer.
Angie, I took this vid to my craft group, giving them your link. I have just received the 3rd request to pass the link to a craft group. They are mad for them! We also love your calm, gentle delivery. Thank you.
I love that this is mostly sewn by hand, love it when I can relax and sew on my comfy couch. Can't wait to empty my can of Pringles now. Just finished making it, I love it so much more than the triangle one I made a few years ago.
We made those last Xmas and filled them with goodies to give away at the quilt club. They were so well received and mine goes everywhere with me and my chicken pin holder. Both much admired. The chicken is made out of two log cabin blocks, so cute too
Loved this video and I can't wait to make a few for my stitchy friends! Thank you for sharing and making it understandable with your step by step instructions.
Really enjoyed your video. I made one out of the pringles can but then I took one of my old plastic 4" embroidery hoops and it really works great. It is a little bigger which is great....Thanks for sharing.
That's a great idea with the embroidery hoop. Especially if you want it to use for something different than a thread catcher. Like a safe place in which to carry jewelry while traveling. Thank you for sharing.
Love it! And thank you for skipping the cutting process and for speeding up the stitching. We all should know how to cut cardboard by now and it gets so tedious watching all the detail on other videos. So cool! I can't wait to make these.
I have asked someone who eats pringles to save me their tube. Also if your not great with hot glue you can use a little bit of masking or sellotape to keep the plastic inside the pringles ring. Another tip is to use a few wonder clips or pins to keep it in place while you sew the ring in. Hope that answers some of the questions I read.😊 I love this video, a newbie to sewing but I have got all my bits cut out and am ready to take it to my craft night tomorrow to do the hand sewing whilst I'm there. I know it's been 9 years since this was made but I just came across it and the instructions are clear, no babbling, easy to follow and to copy. Thank you for keeping this video up and for sharing. I love it Kim UK ❤
@Angie Padilla your welcome, I always read the comments if I have a question, before asking and there were a few, the thing is people don't watch the video properly or a communication gap in different languages, I could hear perfectly well. But on other videos when there's an accent I just flip on the subtitles if I can't hear that bit. I have got it all ready to sew , must of watched the video at least 8 times lol 😁 hope you are well and may come back to make more videos at some point. Thank you 💗
Rather than cutting a can, i used the inner core of a ribbon spool! It's already thick and cut precisely. I cut the cardboard round for the base out of the top/bottom of the spool as well. 😉 recycle, re-use! ♻️
This is a great alternative to other thread catchers I've made and used. I like that this one closes up completely when finished using it and takes up less space in a travel kit. I do English Paper Piecing while travelling which generates a LOT of thread snippets. Nothing worse than those snippets all over your car and pants. It empties easily, too. Thanks for the tutorial.
So clever! I will make one for my granddaughter who loves to look for little "treasures" in my studio, such as beads, buttons, pieces of velvet, etc. You could make a larger one from Quaker oatmeal or a bread crumbs container. Thank you for sharing Angie!
The dollar store has tootsie rolls in (shorter) tubes like that - there's a slot in the top so they can be used as a bank. My mom puts them in our stockings every Christmas morning. I've been saving them because I like little containers. Now I want to come up with a neat way to cut the cardboard. Neat as in smooth and not messy - not neat as in _cool_ !!
very handy and innovative! I can think of so many things to keep in one of these! As others have said, it s a great gift idea as well.!! Thanks for sharing and for the well done tutorial
I used a juice can and made a smaller one, that fits in my embroidery case. So nice, that way i don't scatter little pieces of trimmed thread wherever i am working.
I like it for my beads, especially any project I'm currently working with and need to take it with me on the road. Whatever, made you think of it. I usually just drop it on a cup at my sewing machine. Thanks for sharing!
I would do it bigger and with some way to keep it attached to the machine or to the working table. And the same collapsible bag will be useful around the house for multiple uses. I love it!
Love this! I had to make one. I made 2 at the same time. One to keep and one to give. One fits just fine when twisted (giving that one) and the other not so much! (Keeping) Voice was very soft but great tutorial! Thanks for sharing.
Great Tutorial Angie" Thanks a Million 4 Sharing. 💘✊🖒💗 Definitely gonna add this to my Must Make List... You can Never have 2 many thread catchers if you sew a lot. 😊 At each sewing machine " serger" cutting table" & if you do hand sewing in the bedroom " living room " in your car kit etc.... Thanks again 4 Sharing...💖💘💓💗💞💟💜💝🌹
Thank you for recording this. I've seen written instructions on this but it just didn't click with my old brain. I will be making one of these for sure to keep while traveling & sewing!
Watching this and seeing the end result was very relaxing!! This would make a great little gift holder... say for a pair of earings or little trinket? Perhaps for a fellow sewer. Whatever the use, I am going to make some of these for my friends. I know they would be touched to receive such a lovely and useful item for the sewing room. thank you Angie.

You are the Bob Ross of threadcatchers.
I just saw this, what a terrific idea! You explained it so clearly and your voice is just so soothing, thank you!
Thank you so much! I use one of these in each of my projects. This is a great tutorial. You are a great teacher.
Thank you so much!

This whole video I was thinking "Hmm this is OK" and then you twisted it closed and now I need to make 500. SO CUTE!!
I thought the exact same ! Great idea !
Regan Jesurun Lmao 😂 👍🏼
I am a crocheter and a beginner knitter. I love to see other people's creativity, and this is just amazing!! Honestly, how cute and concise is that!
Angie, I took this vid to my craft group, giving them your link. I have just received the 3rd request to pass the link to a craft group. They are mad for them! We also love your calm, gentle delivery. Thank you.
Thanks! Yes, this is a really fun project. I've made tons for little gifts. It's a great stocking stuffer!
What a lovely little bin x
I love that this is mostly sewn by hand, love it when I can relax and sew on my comfy couch. Can't wait to empty my can of Pringles now. Just finished making it, I love it so much more than the triangle one I made a few years ago.
I like that you used materials on hand... plastic from milk jug, cardboard from cereal box. Very clear tutorial!
Well this is a brilliant idea. Will make many... even for the car as is so handy when travelling. Thanks for sharing x
We made those last Xmas and filled them with goodies to give away at the quilt club. They were so well received and mine goes everywhere with me and my chicken pin holder. Both much admired. The chicken is made out of two log cabin blocks, so cute too

Was gifted one of these today, 4/1/2023 and want to make one myself. These are clever, portable and practical. TY
They sure are fun. I like to make them as stocking stuffers, too!
This is a great idea. Thank-you for coming up with this idea. I am going to do one right away.
Love it! And thank you for skipping the cutting process and for speeding up the stitching. We all should know how to cut cardboard by now and it gets so tedious watching all the detail on other videos. So cool! I can't wait to make these.
this is adorable, I haven't ever seen anything like this, thanks so much.
Hi, thank you very much for this, beautiful thread catcher, it was so useful for me as I do lots of needle work, thanks once again
Great idea, I will be making one soon, and thank you for awesome tutorial.
That is so cute and has so much potential for other uses. Thank You.
That is just the coolest thread Cather ever. I am making this one.
A very good tutorial Angie, thank you for sharing.

Angie, I enjoy watching your videos. Your projects are clever and your voice is calming. Thanks : )
Thank you. You're very kind. Glad you enjoy the projects.
That is an adorable little project!
That's such a fantastic idea. Never heard of it before but it's very innovative. Thanks for sharing. Love it. May just try it.
This is such a neat clever idea. Congratulations for thinking it up.
So glad you like it. Can hold other small items... jewelry, buttons, etc.
That is so cute and creative! I haven't seen anything like it, thanks so much!
I love this, its great for the ones who cross stitch and take projects on the road. Thanks for the tutorial

Really enjoyed this tutorial. The end product was so attractive I felt it could also be a tree decoration, well done.
Such a great idea! And your voice is so relaxing! Thank you .
Great idea! This was lovely & relaxing to watch. Thank you :)
WOW!, I am amazed what you made for scraps of threads! I of course want one NOW...
Thank you so much. This was very well explained, and demonstrated!

Or a 2 litre soda bottle or embroidery hoop!
I did use the Quaker Oatmeal container for the steel cut oats. Fabric cut 13" x 11". Came out 4" diameter and 5" tall.
Very clever and looks like fun to make.
I made a thread catcher before, not near as cute as this one, can't wait to make one- looks like it will be fun
thank for shariing!!
i love love LOVE this idea. making one for every crafty person i know!
What an incredibly clever idea! Thank you for sharing!!
Another clever idea from your site, Angie! I'm looking forward to making a few of these for myself and for gifts.
That is ridiculously cute. Thanks for sharing.
I have collected the containers and I think I'll start working on a dozen of these for a quilt retreat in May....
I don't buy pringles so I'm trying to think of another product I can use...
The dollar store has tootsie rolls in (shorter) tubes like that - there's a slot in the top so they can be used as a bank. My mom puts them in our stockings every Christmas morning. I've been saving them because I like little containers.

very handy and innovative! I can think of so many things to keep in one of these! As others have said, it
s a great gift idea as well.!! Thanks for sharing and for the well done tutorial
What a cute idea. Had to share on FarmgirlsCreations' Facebook page. Love ideas like this that re-purpose used items we normally toss. Thanks!
I used a juice can and made a smaller one, that fits in my embroidery case. So nice, that way i don't scatter little pieces of trimmed thread wherever i am working.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful tutorial

Wow, this is really neat. I love the geometry of the finished product.
I like it for my beads, especially any project I'm currently working with and need to take it with me on the road. Whatever, made you think of it. I usually just drop it on a cup at my sewing machine. Thanks for sharing!
