Great Network of Railways in Japan i noticed the Driver keeps moving his arm and pointing why does he do this i can understand if another train was passing or on the station but why when he is driving and no other train about is it a normal thing drivers do because i didnt notice it on other Japan cab rides ?????

Yes, this was the run which reminded me of our lost tracks going north from Tauranga to the south of Auckland, you are blessed to have such an amazing network in Japan
That was a fantasic trainride tru some great landskape. That makes me want to take the trip. But i Wonder why isn,t the tracks welded together???We passed many Trains so why.?? But again super ride....
This is the Takayama Line which is not too busy that there would be a need for double tracks. Plus, the trains didn't waste too much time while they passed each other. But other than that, you're more than right, such a fantastic ride. First the train left the mega city of Nagoya, but shortly after that the scenery became really idyllic and the train passed a lot of lovely little villages before the trip ended in Toyama.
The landslide along this rail by heavy rain two years ago and operation had been suspended for six month. When it was restarted this rail , I took this movie . So , they inspected rain , equipment and so on.
It is called pointing and callling and it is used to reduce the chance of mistakes. you can read on wikipedia about it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pointing_and_calling

I think the English station names get out of step with the Japanese ones about halfway through. For example, Kagano is labelled as Takayama, and the actual Takayama is labelled as Hida-furukawa. In both of these cases the Japanese caption appears to be correct, but the English one is wrong.
I'd like to know why the _Hida_ train is terminating at the ground level tracks at Toyama. They were for a while using the elevated tracks at the station.
Camera settings change, malfunction at 1:04:41? Or was it an editing error? As always, your videos are top quality and interesting to watch. Please, do a video of a train ride during a rainy day or night if possible, to see how the conductor adjust the train ride for such weather conditions. Arigato HKASAMA.

富山行きが8号車~10号車で

Yip, I only know about 10 kanji but know the difference between kawa & yama
I am wating for them to starting point at each others.
I'd like to know why the _Hida_ train is terminating at the ground level tracks at Toyama. They were for a while using the elevated tracks at the station.
Very good drive Thanks
