    OK, after 44 years of work as a licensed Landscape Architect and working for a federal agency that planned, designed and constructed 100's of millions of dollars in federal projects around multiple states, let me state unequivocally that the field of landscape architecture is one of the most personally and professionally fulfilling fields to enter and revel in. Creating landscapes for both young and old alike to experience nature and other people safely is a wonderfully exciting pursuit each day of your life. Listen intently to Carter and trust me as well, get into the landscape architecture field and express yourself in ways that others will enjoy. Good luck.

      This is genuinely so heartening. I left the tv animation industry last year as a professional artist in pursuit of environmental conservation, and after working at an herbarium the past year have decided to dedicate my career towards becoming a landscape architect for the entire reason of helping shape the solutions as climate change arises. It really helps reinforce that hearing what you’ve got to say on the field so thank you. (:

    Hey man well said! Nice and short video! A comment here to open some nice discussion. I am an architectural and engineering student with a 5-year cycle course. After all these years of studies in architecture, urban design and planning, I had only two courses about landscape architecture and I am like why? This field is so important for us, our cities, our societies and our planet. We need a balance between natural and artificial in our cities! Keep that in mind and spread it, I think it's a really important philosophy for every landscape architect and not only! It is important for every architect and designer. I care a lot about public spaces (outdoor and indoor) and for these reasons and more, I was like okay, I need to follow this path somehow I like it a lot even if it's not so constructive as architecture. Please, also upload a video about either following urban design or urban planning a lot of people would like to know the differences. Have you heard about the sponge-city concept? Take a look over it if you are not, it's a must! No floodings from climate crisis anymore, fingers crossed for the governments to invest in that as you said!

    I chose LA as my major for college, but over the past year Ive been increasingly interested in working with wildlife, and an even interning at a wildlife rescue center. However all my life I have always been interested in designing and know I want to use my creative side in my profession. After doing some research this was the best path to combine both of my passions. I also want to play a bigger part in wildlife conservation like helping with the environment and climate change, rather than working to help individual animals. I know there are different options like designing zoos and such, although I would like to more so be the voice for wildlife when designing landscapes. Like making sure designs include elements that consider the wildlife in the area. Would this be a possibility for me to focus on? I’m thinking of double majoring or minoring in something in wildlife to support my interests and to make me more appealing to firms that focus in those areas

      I would say probably not. In my opinion it’s really hard to learn design online. My last 2 years of college was basically online due to covid and I thankfully already had a strong foundation of design by then and knew how to continue to learn from there. But if I knew nothing I would find it very hard to learn without the hands on experience. It would need to be a really good online program and would come down to how your learning style is

    Hi! I'm currently looking for a ladnscape architecture masters degree. I really like landscape architecture, I'm from Peru and the topic it not really popular, which makes me more interested in this! Do you any recommendations of architecture schools that specialize in ladnscape architecture (the country does not matter)?

      Hmm that's a tough one, usually they have landscape architecture programs in alot of programs in the United States, not sure how it is outside the states though, I would search the googleverse for this, I know in the state's this is the list of the top schools www.di-rankings.com/most-admired-schools-landscape-architecture/

    How long does it take to become? degree + licensed etc..

    • @DesignItGreen
      @DesignItGreen  Рік тому +4

      Degree is usually around 4-5 years at most programs. Then it largely depends on where you practice but most people could be licensed after around 5 years of work experience, but could be earlier if you really want to rush to get it or later. Where I live, I need 2 years of work experience under a licensed LA and then I am eligible to start taking the exams.

      @@DesignItGreen I see, thank you and hmmmm so it takes around 10+ years/ at what stage of the career can you get paid? Lastly what career path in architecture or design etc... can you get a job fast, after a bachelor? God bless and thank you.

    • @DesignItGreen
      @DesignItGreen  Рік тому +3

      You can get paid as soon as you get a job! I started making money as soon as I became an intern! so you could during school! as for what field gets work the fastest, that's really tough to answer, largely depends on where you live and what the demand is!

    What do you think about someone going back to school for this degree in their late 30’s?

    • @DesignItGreen
      @DesignItGreen  Рік тому +2

      I would say that it’s never to late to make the switch! If you think you would benefit and enjoy the field I would definitely recommend it! There is a lot of people who switch into this field who are over 30, attend school and go on to a normal career in the field! I think you should do it!

      @@DesignItGreen I am about to get my BS of plant science emphasis in landscape design and I'm really on the fence about going to get my MLA at Washington university. the application is due in January and I just don't know if its right for me because I'm so so shy. I am going to submit one and just decide later. But thank you for your videos!!

    • @DesignItGreen
      @DesignItGreen  Рік тому

      I would say definitely still apply! For one, you will benefit from having a background that is stronger in plants because that is something most landscape architects are missing and is a highly valued skill. and second, you can CERTAINLY be shy in this field.. I am very shy (yes I know I make UA-cam videos) but am a very quiet and shy person, but as long as you have good ideas and can manage when you have to present or talk to people every once in a while you will be fine! And not to mention you may find it easier to talk and be conversational with colleagues as they often have similar backgrounds and interests! If you have more questions don't be shy to dm me and I can answer there too! Hope this helps!

    • @DesignItGreen
      @DesignItGreen  Рік тому +3

      I created those videos in hopes to share my honest experiences in the field so far so that people can be better informed going into the program! And like all fields, professions and most things, there are pros and cons so each video talks about each part!

    Hi , I'm someone who's not into artistic side of things but I'm a very analytical person so do you think this course would suit me?

    • @DesignItGreen
      @DesignItGreen  Рік тому +2

      Absolutely! I was very far from being an artist when I first started! As long as your willing to practice, you will become a great designer! Being analytical is very helpful in design also!
