I have the 850 and found it to be a great all round bike. The front end is a little on the soft side but I will try and fix that when I can.Thks for the review.
When I was looking for a new bike last year, I test drove, and really like the new f850gs. It's a great bike, good build quality, nice ergonomics, and alot more power than the old f800gs. After testing some other middle weight ADVs... I ended up buying the Tiger 800 XCA.
Great to see another review by MADTV. Weight remains my biggest concern for an ADV rig but we all must decide where we're going to venture off road and what compromises we'll tolerate.
Great video and solid review as always!!! This bike has been picking up a lot of attention and even performing well even in races. I think BMW have done well, there is a number of features I'd like to see Triumph offer for us on the Tiger 800 but I don't think it's enough to jump ships yet... The triples roar is intoxicating. The Tiger is a great bike but I'm very keen to see where BMW take their own take on the mid sized adv dirt focused bike in the next few years especially with the likes of the 790 and Yamaha giving it a red hot crack at what was previously pretty much BMW or featureless 600 (DR) territory. *The music here is as always fantastic. Shun the non believers below!
Change front sprocket down one tooth that would help with mid range power and fit progressive fork springs and and play with fork oil to find the damp rate thst suits your weight
Excellent review as always! I understand that these bikes are not favored by the extreme dirt or long distance travelers, but represents a good middle ground! My money will likely wait for the T7, so I'm eagerly waiting your review of that bike (and the 790r)!
Great review as always and Amazing music as always! You are at the top of the game when it comes to putting these videos together, the narrative, video, and music all come together. I need you to make me a ride playlist!
I found the lack of power a problem myself. To solve this problem, I am trying to ride in dynamic mode off road as well, since I can disable DTC and ABS even if it's not Enduro Pro Mode. I am also changing the front suspensions, they are just not up to the off road game for me. I am surprised you didn't complain more about it
Great review, and a good bike for many! However, unless I missed it, you did forget to mention the 'small' price variable between this bike and say...the T7. Also, truly missed the awesome Blues that you normally use to accompany your vids! :-) atb Dave
Yes, I left the price alone because frankly I wasn't sure of it. Also the Tenere 700 I think is $15,500 on road in Australia. Yes the music has been a little controversial :)
You should do a comparison between this and the ktm 790 r/yamaha tenere 700/africa twin 1000. And is there hop ups you can do to get more power in the lower rpm range???
I've been deciding between this, the t7 and the f850 gs. I really can't decide. I ride mostly fire roads and commuting but I do occasionally do longer miles and back country discover. Ugghh. 3 really good bikes.
You forgot to mention the slipper clutch and auto blipper for clutchless downshifts. I rate that as more important on the dirt than clutchless upshifts.
So T7 or this bmw if you spend 70%road and 30% dirt??love the t7 but I'm wondering would I be better with the 850gs if I spend most miles on the tarmac. Thanks
Thanks for an interesting review, I really enjoyed it. Tubeless tyres seem to have an advantage, so what would be the downsides? It's a lovely bike, for sure, but the electronics on all modern machines worry me. (I guess that's just the future). Regards from S Africa Clive
If you were to pick the Toyota Hilux of off road motorbikes... I.e. something available brand new, but reliable as hell, great efficiency and reputation and suitable for everything (city/coast/country). What would it be?
I thought they were great on both gravel and tar. The rear tyre was on the way out before I road it. I don't generally review tyres because they wear out so quickly and are a personal choice.
Great review. But I couldn't help myself watching the other cheaper dirtbikes having just as much fun... Maybe it's just because I can't afford the 850gs.
you should tell what kind of man fits on the bike - you look (no offense) somewhat short - nordic men have easily 2m. Nice area - I envy you at least for that.

Lose the stupid music with even more idiotic lyrics and then you would have a video of something being professionally produced. Doesn't need to be fancy just tell the truth and let it shine on its own.

close to 250 kilograms is way big when it falls on you.
How all bike reviews should be done!

Hard break-in. Dirty glamour shot. Skipping over all the “do-dads” and getting gritty. Love you guys!
What about the 8 metre jump towards the end! :)
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV Cringe worthy!

Nice review. Seems a hell of a lot quicker plugging the tire then patching a tube.
Your ability to deliver honest, consistent and top quality films for ADV riders is unparalleled. Thanks Dave again. 10 out of 10.
Thank you.
Great video and points that mass production of bikes mean you have to play with after market parts

I ride bike how I found them. This ride wasn't that technical, but there was that large jump. The bike cleared over 8 metres and landed well.
Getting my new 850 sport in 2 weeks, can’t wait 🤩
Good choice!

Yeah good idea. It's just a matter of getting hold of these bikes. For example, Honda was very difficult and I couldn't get hold of a bike.
Can't wait for the next fall to get mine!
BRILLIANT REVIEW, GREAT VID.
I've been deciding between this, the t7 and the f850 gs. I really can't decide. I ride mostly fire roads and commuting but I do occasionally do longer miles and back country discover. Ugghh. 3 really good bikes.
yep
Hi, has the route been shared anywhere? Some of those roads look fantastic!
great video!
Thanks for the visit

Sorry about that chief.

The GS is a great bike.
Just a quickie; you were riding in my backyard - what was the cavern you guys were riding through at about 13:00?
Jenolan caves

Looking forward to riding the gadget free Yamaha Tenere 700
The downside of tubeless is if you damage the rim the Tyre will not seal/inflate on the rim. You would have to use a tube to get moving.
what is that song ? i love it. wanna listen to it fully

Very well
RR. Reluctant reviewer;)
Yep! :)
Hey what brand of bashplate did you put on?
thanks
Sorry mate. A long time ago.
If you were to pick the Toyota Hilux of off road motorbikes... I.e. something available brand new, but reliable as hell, great efficiency and reputation and suitable for everything (city/coast/country). What would it be?
Right now. Yamaha WR250 F for small. BMW GS 350 for middle, KTM1090 Adventure R, BUT we haven't experienced this Tenere 700.
Can the front nose thing be removed???
It saddens me to see a mechanic using an impact gun and rattle gun to tighten bolts 😢
Agreed! Rattle gun to loosen and torque wrench to tighten.
Hey Dave was that Tom. I like Tom almost as much as you! great ride and review. big thumb up and cheers mate.
No TOM was filmed in the production of this ride. :)
What tyre pressure pump you guys were using?
Nice video...can you tell me the make Red Bike @ 8.16?
Disregard...its BMW
How were the Karoo 3 tires?
I thought they were great on both gravel and tar. The rear tyre was on the way out before I road it. I don't generally review tyres because they wear out so quickly and are a personal choice.
Question to Dave, if you could pick any bike to do a multi-continent trip, what bike would it be?
There's a bike to be released shortly that will have my interest :). But right now, today, the Yammy WR250 R advenurised.
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV thx! Looking forward to that review.
@@UndergroundSessions1 the review of the 250 is on my channel. Have a look at Motorcycle Adventure Dirtbike TV
Great video and review, but I think I'm gonna stick with my 690 ;) really like the last music of the video. Who is singing?
Songs are in the description
Fantastic review and great footage. Music is too loud though.
Noted!
Is this a new video?
yes
Depends on when you're watching it.
I wish I’d bought the 850 instead of the 1200 GSA. I’m 69 years old, and it’s pretty heavy.
Well sell it now and enjoy your riding time.
Great review!
Wish I could get one
lol 4:07 thats some serious tracks
Great review. But I couldn't help myself watching the other cheaper dirtbikes having just as much fun... Maybe it's just because I can't afford the 850gs.
I can have fun on any bike. I love the Baja 200. Doesn't matter.
230 kg?
It would be great if they could take 50 kg off the weight.
That music during the test ride made me want to be deaf.
Would love to win this bike........
It will be a great prize. I didn't drop it and was kind to it. It is a nice bike.
The twist is that you misspelled Rallye? ;)
Damm it, I'll fix that! :)
Business name taken already
Explain James. What business name? In what country?
Motorcycle Adventure Dirtbike TV, was referring to MAD TV surely you’ve heard of it...
about the same weight as the ktm 1190
use TIRE SEALANT 4 tubless

I am 180cm that's not short in Australia that is around average height.

Are you always this angry Gary?
Meh, I kind of liked it. Don’t listen to him.
I agree. Great review but the music is a real turn off. No offence meant.
gay music 4 this bike
Nice video, terrible music.
Background music is really awful and unnecessary.
Another music lover. :)
