I own a Tenere 700 and since a month also a 2021 AT AS DCT......i love my Tenere very much. Less comfort but it does everything very well. Trail riding is very nice. It also likes the twisties and rev it very hard. You can throw it hard into the corners. Very very good bike for that money. Always put a smile on my face. I do not have much mileage on my Africa twin jet....i have to explore this one a little bit more. I bought it for more comfort road use. It is a beast!! Safe happy riding everybody!!
I've been fortunate to own all of these bikes! H Well, in honesty, an F800GSA 2014, AT 2016 and T700 2021. They've got some good points here, but if you plan on riding trails more than roads, there's no question the T700 is better. There are different aspects to each bike, bit as for bar position on the T7, I had the same issue with fatigue, but all it took to resolve was rolling the bars forward slightly, issue is history. The T700 is forgiving, ploughs through everything and is light enough to pick up with luggage on, these are all the elements of adventure riding. If you want more power and don't ride trails so much, the AT1000 is the one
what is the f800 gsa still recommended for? I am 80% on road so thinking about the 800gsa or something else. I am also pretty tall at 6'3 o not much of an option fo me.
If Alex is a beginner, I salute his bravery in taking on this ride - snow, rain, mud ... all he needed was a river crossing and he would have conquered the whole box and dice. He survived it with good humour. I hope he doesnt by a car or a helicopter but continues to practice his skills.
So sad to know Cristian passed away. Always nice and very interesting videos. Rest In Peace. I hope there will be nice trails just the way you like, up there in Heaven.
I just bought the new standard Africa Twin 2021 with no DCT. I did the test drive of both the Africa twin and the Tenere, but I liked the Africa Twin much more: lower seat height, smoother and more powerful engine and more eletronics for less than a difference of 4000€. The standard Africa Twin is not that much heavier than the Tenere, the only reason people should look into the Tenere is the price. The Tenere for the european market is made in France while the Africa Twin is made always in Japan.
The price of the tenere in north macedonia is around 11-12k euros, the standard africa twin starts from 13k.. the bmw f850gs also starts from around 13k. I think you should be loco not to buy the AT 😀

Front brake doesn’t match the performance of the rest of the bike.
It all depends on what you want from the bike. I own the AT 1000, and i would like the DCT version. But i use it 95% of the time on the road. If i were to use the bike off road, i would've bought the Tenere, hands down.
The F800gs was better in class than the f850gs feel like bmw is worst in class. Tiger 900 AF and T7 are all lighter and cheaper. And all are more powerful except the T7
@@rjeepster8640 agree. I'd be ok with TC, as I know it works really well, but would skip all the ride modes, electronic suspensions and so on. So ABS (as this is required by regulations here) and TC would be fine for me. But I can also live without TC... Anyway, I hope they will finally show it this Autumn. Cheers!
The only complaint I’ve seen is from people who clearly aren’t good with technology. If you just wanna get on and ride go for something else. But if you want cutting edge tech with the most detailed control over aspect of the bike there is nothing better than the Africa Twin right now.

The more I gleam about riding in Romania, the more I want to ride in Romania. The video’s best sentiment? I know the bike can do it, not sure if the rider can do it. Ain’t that the truth!
For me,give me the Ténéré 700 any time over those bikes. It's an amazing bike that can handle just about anything that comes your way. But the biggest selling part for me is the lower weight of 452 lbs, compared to the 503 lbs of the very basic Africa Twin with no accessories. I can add crash bars plus 30-40 lbs of gear and just be breaking into the AT weight territory. Once you hit deep sand or mud, you'll be happy you have a lighter bike. Another huge plus of the T7 is it's bare bone minimum electronics. The more junk you out in a bike, the more that can brake down. Good luck finding a mechanic in the middle if a third world country who has the specialized tools and know how needed to troubleshoot and fix such sophisticated electronics hungry bikes. And I hope you have the deep pockets needed to replace those electronics if they break down. I saw a video of a guy who owns a KTM and had to replace the some electronic parts and he had to cough up 5,200 dollars to replace the panel and hardness. Perhaps more and more people are relying on electronics, such as traction control, to cover for their lack of skills. While the T7 is so good with it's basic suspension that it makes you think that your skills are better than they really are. Yes it is that good! Specially for a bike without a computer thinking for you and saving your ass.
same for me, I only had to replace springs in my T7 with uprated ones as they were a bit too soft for my size and riding style but otherwise, I love the bike - offroad non of the other two come even close - I would buy AT over T7 if I planned more road trips or with passenger
Best thing i love about tenere is its CP2 engine And the way it looks its my dream bike Its 689cc not that big not that small just perfectly fine light weight can do extreme offroads and smooth long road drives with speed
Looks like a pretty serious off-road ride for a new rider on a mid-size bike. When picking up a bike it’s best to put your back to it and lift with your legs, this even works on 900lbs Harley Touring Bikes. I’m currently riding a 2021 T-7 and I Love It. I agree the handlebars need changing on the bike, something with slightly more rise and sweep. Ride On.
Really surprised that you all liked the AT the best for this type of riding. It's over 30 kg heavier. By the way, great job getting the big GS through that terrain. I couldn't have done it.
Exactly! Almost every moment I was thinking how much easier it all would be on my 250 Rally. Not enough slower on the road sections to matter. The only difference would be overtaking ability.
I´ve owned a F 850 GS and used it mainly for Enduro/ off-road-travel purposes. I´m a offroad beginner, so it was more like gravel roads and a bit of aTET...Last year I´ve ridden the Hard Alpi Tour with the 850 and it was not fun. After lifting it up 3 times, you are hammered...I´m a sporty guy but this was just brutal. I did some enduro classes with R 1200/ R 1250 Gs and they are wayyyy easier to ride because of the boxer engine. Unfortunately the price is wayyyy higher on these bikes. If i´ll buy a big GS, it has to be the sport suspension and the TFT or a adventure with TFT.... My budget says still no, so I sold the 850 and bought a 701 with Rally Kit (slightly used) and still got money left to go crazy on tires and equippment. ;) cheers
Africa Twin forever 😍😍😍 La ce craci lungi are Bogdan cred si eu ca le-@ scos pe toate din probleme, mai putin yamaha care nu a avut nevoie de ajutor :)
It ’s a wonderful view. It can be said that the new price of BMW is cheap in Japan. The reason is that BMW is relative to the fact that car inspection and maintenance costs at dealers, repair costs and even tire replacement are very expensive. It is also important to calculate the cost when riding hard for a long time.
I realised only today that Cristian Predio had died in a motorcycle accident! I feel so sad! He was genuine in his videos! I feel really bad like losing a good friend! 😢😢
I'd take the lightest bike for street and off road. Light bike means less money on fuel and tyres, easy to control and pick up. Probably Husqvarna 701 Enduro.
Excellent video, always love the footage and subjective opinions, even if I disagree. The t7 is facing an uphill battle with a lot of objectively better bikes in its class, but even with its competition I'd buy another t7. 4:10 is a good example :)
This is what I dislike about modern electronics aids! My Renault Grand Scenic is bad enough! Riding is about escaping the touch screen mentality, at least that is my opinion! Some may disagree! Top marks to Alex, good job!
Conclusion - Cannot go wrong with any of three fine motorcycle! Wish I have any of these three in my garage right now :D Ride safe and ride happy ya'll.
Great comparison.I would suggest to your friend on the 850GS that he puts Rally Foot pegs on.It will make all the difference to his riding stability etc.Thanks.
Why turn off the electronics on the Africa Twin? I understand turning off the wheelie control on a steep grade, but otherwise why not put it in gravel or off-road mode and go?! This is not a rhetorical question, I’m really wondering for myself.
It's not surprising the Africa twin outperformed the Yamaha. After all the motor is some 55% larger in cubic capacity and the bike far more expensive. You could probably have exchanged the Honda for a Triumph Tiger or the KTM 890 to get a closer comparison with the others?
The KTM 890 would probably be my first choice, except for how tall it is. AT with the seat in its lowest setting is shorter and felt better to me then the 890. I feel like I for sure want a lowing kit for the 890. But a lowering kit on the AT would be even better. The real problem with all these adventure bikes is they are all just to tall.
I bought the tenere this year because i like the simple electronic parts no Android Carplay just riding. To be onest the tenere is on the street not the best but the tenere is very thin so i can pass the trafficjam in Berlin very nice
Being an AT owner I approve of this video. haha Actually I really value the opinions of less experienced riders, just like the expression of getting truth from the mouth of babes and crazy people. There's no underlying reservations about who's sponsoring what and don't step to hard on certain toes, if you know what I mean.
Good video, bit hard to understand you guys at times, but still enjoyed the video, glad you took the time to put it all together. For me, if I was riding anything like that I wouldn't buy any of those bikes, I'll stick to something more like my beta xtrainer 300. I want a adventure bike, but don't have plans on ever going quite that extreme, hopefully. Lol
Thanks for clearly making the extra mile and effort for the review. Nice review. The trip would have been so much easier with 400cc and 100kg lighter enduro bike. So that's the best class of bikes for off road (light weight enduros 300-500cc). You can ride easily few hundred km's with them on tarmac, so I little bit question this whole class of bikes you reviewed in this video. For road trip other kind of bikes rule.
Absolutely. I've had bikes like these before but I've downsized. Every 30 seconds in this video I was thinking "that would be such a breeze on my Honda 250 Rally" (with 900 Euro spent on the suspension). Even on those twisty tarmac roads it wouldn't fall far enough behind to outweigh the vastly better experience off-road. On a motorway, or with a passenger, for 800 km, sure one of these bikes every time, but anywhere the traffic is doing 110 km/h or less I'd be right there on the 250. And it's 48 kg lighter than the T7.
Nice review & beautiful country but hopefully those bugs dont bite. if you have the legs for it ( I am 6'1 with 36'' inseam) the Honda tall seat on the AT is a lot more comfortable than stock IMO, it is shaped better so it dont slide you into the gas tank so much. So how does that windshield work? I have the stock with MRA Xscreen on it but on open road speed I need a little taller & maybe wider
Beautiful video as always, 👍 and beautiful Romania created a place for such tests😜👍 I think I would opt for Africa Twin DCT but 2019 Model💪🏍👍 and Yamaha Tenere 👀👍 Greetings
I have ridden a lot of bikes in my 50 plus years of riding and all three are nice machines but the Suzuki V-Strom 650 with abs is hard to beat for the money. I have owned two of them an 08 and 2012 with abs that I bought for 3000.00 dollars with only 9000 miles. I still have the 2012 and it is a great bike but would love to have the Honda Africa Twin. Great Review !!!!!

Excellent video, always love the footage and subjective opinions, even if I disagree.
The t7 is facing an uphill battle with a lot of objectively better bikes in its class, but even with its competition I'd buy another t7. 4:10 is a good example :)
What does it mean?
Can you explain me please?
abs on/off.... easy.@@densepada2848
This is what I dislike about modern electronics aids! My Renault Grand Scenic is bad enough! Riding is about escaping the touch screen mentality, at least that is my opinion! Some may disagree! Top marks to Alex, good job!
There is no true adventure bike, it's just the one on the saddle. :)
Way to go Nick!
Thanks. We'll ket him know.
Love the quality of your videos.
I appreciate that!
Why turn off the electronics on the Africa Twin? I understand turning off the wheelie control on a steep grade, but otherwise why not put it in gravel or off-road mode and go?! This is not a rhetorical question, I’m really wondering for myself.
Great video you guys! Only problem is, now I want all 3 bikes. And the biker cat shirt. I must have it.
It's not surprising the Africa twin outperformed the Yamaha. After all the motor is some 55% larger in cubic capacity and the bike far more expensive. You could probably have exchanged the Honda for a Triumph Tiger or the KTM 890 to get a closer comparison with the others?
next time, why not.
Why wasn't the Triumph 900 Rally Pro included in this.
RIP. Christan these guys and over at Drive Mag Riders, must devastated by his passing.
So sad news.. I didn't know till today. Ride In Paradise.
very humble, and so many info this channel, sadly know that you going to another place that much more safer RIP brother 🥺💐🙏
I just heard the bad news. T-T
So was to hear the awful news of Christiana death. Such a loss, loved his videos. My condoleances to loved ones and friends
RIP! Great video.
Perfectly well made show, well done boys
Being an AT owner I approve of this video. haha
Actually I really value the opinions of less experienced riders, just like the expression of getting truth from the mouth of babes and crazy people. There's no underlying reservations about who's sponsoring what and don't step to hard on certain toes, if you know what I mean.
Rode the T7 and the ATM 2020 offroad n on road and the AT is the better bike all around for me
We will miss you Christian, Ride In Peace bro, thoughs to your Friends & Family 😪
what happened to him?
@@ccchaosss don't know exactly but he's gone 🥲
RIP Cristian
My condolences to family and friends
I chosed the Tenere over the Africa Twin and I don't regret a bit :)
RIP 🙏 Cristian 😪 best journalist for Adventure motorcycle
Polish bicycles😪
That AT computer section had me dying. For real though, that is what I love about my T7 - dead simple.
really great video well done guys. i subbed. thinking about a sports/tourer for my next bike.
Lol
Great video's, very sad to hear the news.

Other than having a 40% bigger engine and better suspension and electronics, is it really worth spending 5,000 euros on Africa Twin over Tenere?
So sad to hear about Cristian; will miss you!
what if we compare Tenere World Raid with Tuareg ??
what suspension is greater then ????
Time to warm up with some vodka with those dudes you met from Poland! Great video of your adventure in Romania.
RIP Cristian. you will be missed
Now this is real adventure rideing!!!!!
Great viewing guys. Keep it up!
thanks
Nice review & beautiful country but hopefully those bugs dont bite. if you have the legs for it ( I am 6'1 with 36'' inseam) the Honda tall seat on the AT is a lot more comfortable than stock IMO, it is shaped better so it dont slide you into the gas tank so much. So how does that windshield work? I have the stock with MRA Xscreen on it but on open road speed I need a little taller & maybe wider
Beautiful video as always, 👍 and beautiful Romania created a place for such tests😜👍 I think I would opt for Africa Twin DCT but 2019 Model💪🏍👍
and Yamaha Tenere 👀👍 Greetings
Nice video, Alex was humorous
thanks
I have ridden a lot of bikes in my 50 plus years of riding and all three are nice machines but the Suzuki V-Strom 650 with abs is hard to beat for the money. I have owned two of them an 08 and 2012 with abs that I bought for 3000.00 dollars with only 9000 miles. I still have the 2012 and it is a great bike but would love to have the Honda Africa Twin. Great Review !!!!!
Base Africa Twin would be amazing if fitted with Tubeless wheels like on the Adventure Sports, don’t understand this move from Honda!
