- Chris demonstrates these two Gretsch inspired models from Collings and Eastman, showcasing what unique features that each brings to the classic design. The Collings Statesman LC is a trestle-braced, fully-hollow guitar utilizing their own "SoCo" body design with maple laminate construction and Lollar Lollartron pickups. The Eastman T58/V features TV Jones Classic pickups and has the more familiar 16" hollowbody shape with a solid, carved Spruce top atop maple laminate back & sides.
Absolutely no comparison. The Eastman is an all around superior sounding instrument. And for the fraction of the Collings. Eastman is killing it. I don’t miss any of my vintage Les Pauls or my custom shop Les Pauls at all. I owned one of Lesley West 1958 Les Paul Junior’s that I got from Saturday night live guitarist GE Smith in 1992. I sold it fairly recently because of intonation issues that were unsolvable. I picked up a 1955 double cutaway Les Paul Junior style guitar from Eastman. Oh my gosh. Again, no comparison. Aside from the aging of the 60 year old wood on the Gibson, the Eastman killed it. They never cease to amaze. Another great job on the video buddy. 😊
Thanks, great review, even more specs' nut width , neck shape would make it even better.
I imagine that the Eastman with that solid spruce top would feedback quite a bit more than the Statesman. If you play loud that would be important.
I’d take the Eastman and spend the rest on lessons from you, loved your playin !
Wow, what a lovely compliment! Thank you so much! Brightened up my week :)
Great comparison! Thanks.
In a relevant comparison with a surprize upset the Eastman/dalilama win. I would like to hear the Eastman take on a Gretsch hotrodded 59 with trestle bracing and Ray Butts filtertrons (reissue) all thru a '63 Fender 6G6-A and mic 🎤 up nicely.
In which Gretsch is inspired this Eastman? Sounds killer
You are a great sales person
Thank you!
Cool guitars but I’m sticking with my Gretsch’s.
Eastman sounds better. That was a surprise
