This is what I always point out when people say Loreen coming back was unfair. If the juries and the public vote for someone purely because they remember them and like them, then Alexander Rybak would’ve won in 2018. And that’s just one of many examples.
Tbh, back in 2018 people expected Alexander to win when he was once again selected to represent Norway at the time lol, he was hyped up a lot until his song for the contest revealed, the song was really mediocre at best. It's interesting to know that he won the semi he was in despite how boring his song was but only came 15th in the final.
But I feel like Alexander purposefully went back with a mediocre song to make sure he doesn't take away the victory from someone else. No way he expected to win with that no matter how much people like him.
Was so satisfying to see him flop with that rotten song
Well the only reason they use that argument is because they are salty that finland didnt win this year.
@@beandrag9019 He still made it to the final, which was bs with that song....
There's deffinatly a good few more than you would expect!
this is my go to argument when people tell me how unfair loreen's 2023 win was
@@willmrgn How? Just because it’s been done before doesn’t mean it’s not unfair. Had I been a Eurovision fan back in the days, I’d have called it unfair then too
@@luxthewriter most people are saying that past winners have an immediate bias when that's not true
@@willmrgn But there is a pretty clear general bias, considering even the returning entires with weak songs USUALLY make it pretty far in the contest. Of course, this is always not the case, but when it happens often enough…
@@luxthewriter PREVIOUS WINNERS ONLY WON TWICE!!!! I swear every year y'all negative people keep getting worse. Seriously who's your dealer, it'd be nice to live in some delusional world
now do winners that participated previous to their wins (including Johnny logan and Loreen)
also i still find it super interesting how the winners of 1979, 1999 and 2009 all came back in 1988, 2008 and 2018 respectively
OMG so that means Duncan will return to compete in 2028??? 😆
@@quangminhtran2916 that would be really cool
Then theres Lys Assia who participated minutes before her first win
If Croatia won in 1999, then Doris Dragović would be in that kind of video 🥲
Linda Martin, for Ireland.
Now do the opposite: contestants that participated twice and won in their second participation.
(of course Loreen and Johnny will still be in the video)
or third cuz of udo Jürgen
@@lexezlao who?
@@meduzsazsa8490 Austria 1964, 1965 and 1966
On the top of my head I'm thinking Dima Bilan, who got 2nd place in 2006, and 1st in 2008, both for Russia.
Carola also
I think there shoud be a competition only for past-winners. That would be amazing!
Would be a interesting concept but some countries would have to withdraw as of course some have never won the contest
@@davidarnold5271 and some have died, but some countries could assign a winner maybe
@@danthegooner4652 like their best result at that point?
Great idea ❤❤👍👍
@@escahmet7487 imagine Loreen winning that contest and she becames a triple champion 💪
Fun fact Johnny logan has won the contest 3 times 1st as the singer second as the singer/songwriter 3rd as the songwriter he has also got a second place as the songwriter for Linda Martin song in 84
No he wrote the song for 1992 Linda Martin did the Eurovision two times. She came second in 1984 and won in 1992
Never realized that there were so many returning winners over the years. Yet only 2 of them managed to win for a second time, yet people cried this year that it was unfair, they should watch this video.
If it wasnt for Abba we would have had the first woman to win twice in 1974 (Gigliola Cinquetti) instead of this year with Loreen
not just first woman first person to win twice
famous last words.. "If it weren't for ABBA..."
Also If there wasn't Herrey's, Linda Martin would've first woman to win twice ❤
@@ufuksnmez98 Sweden won these years to be the first country to made it lol
You just slapped with grace all of the fans saying "Loreen only won because she already won in 2012" "Winners should not be allowed to return" Thank You SO Much
Johnny Logan did it before Loreen, it doesn't make sense this hate
If the song wasn't plagiarized maybe people wouldn't be so angry, just sayin'
@@musicgamer2719 I love that every year fans from the 2nd place says that the winner is a plagiarism, it's a classic, welcome to 2023, search every Eurovision song and you will always find some other similar song, just like Electric Callboy with Finland, Blackpink with Israel, literally any other italian singer and the song of marco mengoni and the list goes on, there's not such a thing as a 100% original song
@@musicgamer2719 well Finland wasn't original also so.. Don't be bitter
@@musicgamer2719 But nobody sued yet... So... 🤷
Where so lucky that Euphoria won because it changed eurovision completely!
Next video: Euvorision winners who won on their second time participating
this will take around 10 sec
Let's wait for Chanel to come back and win the trophy 😢❤
@@A1D3E2 it's not that short lol, if we count backing vocalists or instrumentalists it would be quite handful, though not much but it would be longer than 10 sec lol
@Eurovision Top I think It's the opposite, I could name 10 and still have left out too many for example Corry Brokken being the first and Ihor Diddenchunk being the most recent one
@@A1D3E2 Not necessarily - Johnny Logan and Loreen would still be there. Then there's Carola, Dima Bilan, Helena Paparizou and I think Elisabeth Andreassen at the very least. Probably more as well from earlier years
I have an idea for a video:
artist who did not won on their first time. like how Helena or Dima won on their second time, so it would be nice earlier winners entries
that would also include Carola with "Främling" since she participated with that one before Fångad av en stormvind
@@IceCreamSplat
True
To be honest, in my opinion, she deserved to win every time she was in the eurovision.
It will always remain a mystery that Germany chose to send Lena the year after again. Why? Did they want to win again? Or did they want to ensure that they wouldn’t win again? Or did a country of 80 million just not have any other singers suitable that year? Don’t get me wrong, Taken by a stranger is by far better than Satellite and should’ve won in 2011 and is one of my favourite songs ever, but still I don’t get the idea.
There was an official statement on why somewhere but I do know that she says she regrets it
Lena wanted to come back after satellite in 2010 she said she had an interest in going back in 2011! she said she didn't have to go back she wanted to
They said she wanted to defend her title, but even during the contest you could tell, she regretted the idea. And - as someone already mentioned before - she recently said, she retrospektively doesn't think her second attempt was necessary, even though she did pretty well
An idea for a new video:
*The inverse case - Eurovision winners that had participated previously:*
* Corry Brokken (1956 - 🏆1957)
* Udo Jurgens (1964 - 1965 - 🏆1966)
* Vicky Leandros (1967 -🏆1972)
* Cheryl Baker (Bucks Fizz) (1978 [Co-Co] - 🏆1981)
* The both Bobbysocks members:
** Elisabeth Andreassen (1982 [Chips] - 🏆1985)
** Hanne Krogh (1971 - 🏆1985)
* Carola (1983 - 🏆1991)
* Linda Martin (1984 - 🏆1992)
* Helena Paparizou (2001 [Antique] - 🏆2005)
* Dima Bilan (2006 - 🏆2008)
* Ihor Didenchuk (Kalush Orchestra) (2021 [Go_A] - 🏆2022)
Lys Assia (1956 song no. 2 "Das Alte Karussell" - winner 1956 song no. 9 "Refrain")
THIS VIDEO SHOULD BE SEEN BY ALL THOSE SEASONERS WHO KEEP MOANING ABOUT LOREEN COMING BACK BEING UNFAIR 😂😂😂 EDUCATE YOURSELVES PPL 🎉
As someone who thinks returning winners should be against the rules, this doesn’t really change anything for me? Had I been a Eurovision fan back in these years, I’d have found it unfair for other contestants back then too😂
@@luxthewriterTrue
Personnally, I'm really sad about Sweden's Victory because for me, it wasn't deserved as the song was so unoriginal and so overrated This year (even though the song is really good) but I don't think That previous winners shouldn't be able to participate, of course, it could be injust for others but It don't bother me to see again some previous winners

How about Eurovision winners which were reutrnees? Let's see:
Linda Martin (first took part in 1984, won in 1992)
Helena Paparizou (2001, 2005)
Carola (1983, 1991)
Dima Bilan (2006, 2008)
Ihor Didenchuk (2020-1, 2022)

Fun fact: a scenario where a Eurovision winner comes back and doesn't win again is called by many fans "the winners curse". The only ones to have beaten this "curse" are Johnny Logan & Loreen, both winning on their second attempt.
There are some great returning winners like Loreen, Lena or Carola. But sometimes their new songs for ESC are not as good as their first (ESC winning songs), for example "That's how you write a song" or "Ding Dong".
A lot of them tried way more times with no success
LOREEN ATE AND SLAYED AND SHE DESERVED IT STOP HAITING ON HER
Oh yes I love Johonny Logan from Ireland so much 2:09 🤣
I have renamed him 😎
Also Loreen's song "Tatto"
@@22nd_Place_Vasil the second o fell off the title
@@SayEurovisionmore like the second o went to form Johonny Logan, linking the 2 double winners together
It’s funny how biased against Loreen this channel suddenly is, she earned her place and won both Melodifestivalen and Eurovision fair and square. And if you don’t like it tough she’s a Double Victor now and always will be.
One of the things about returning winners is they often become their own tough act to follow.
02:00 - To be fair this not a full return of "Milk and Honey", rather of 2 members - Yehuda Tamir and Reuven Gvirtz
Fun fact: This is also Yardena Arazi's second time as a performer after competing in the 1976 contest with "Emor Shalom" as part of "Shokolad, Menta, Mastik" and after hosting the 1979 contest.
Fun fact with Milk and Honey:
It's interesting to note they sang alongside the host of the year they won in.
Given Germany's lack of success in the competition lately, it's a wonder they've not tried going back to Lena.
they could have had real deal with electric callboy but they fucked it up
Charlotte was by far my favourite of 2008. Deserved a lot better.
As long as the double wins don't become too frequent and are closer to 30 years, all is well!
But the video is very interesting.🎉

hi. I'm from Israel. you got it wrong: there is no connection between 1988 Yardena Arazi performance to 1979 Milk and Honey performance. Yardena was never a member of the Milk and Honey band. in fact she was the host of the Eurovision that year 1979, in Israel when they won. and no member of the Milk and Honey band took part in Yardena's 1988 song.
What about Pasha Parfeni? He competed representing Moldova in both 2012 and 2023
This video is about the returning Winners.
@@dajanafairy oh ok
Great video! Maybe in the future I would specify when places were shared, like how L'enfant Que J'etais was technically =8 and not just 8. If possible, I would also love if you could find the earlier years without the obnoxious watermarks, as they do exist on UA-cam. Thanks!
4:30 i think you misspelled tattoo because it says tatto
you forgot about The Roop 2020&2021 and Monika Linkytė 2015&2023
Did you just confuse Gali Atari and Yardena Arazi?
Two of the backing vocalists and writers of the song were part of Milk and Honey
@@yangboy6 None of them wrote the 1988 song. In fact, in 1980 Gali Atari left Milk and Honey, and was replaced with Leah Lupatin (who was in Chocolad Menta Mastik - 1976 participant), and she left 1983. The 3 male singers, Reuven Gvirt, Yehuda Tamir and Shmulik Bilu, tried to keep the band as a trio but failed. Gvirtz and Tamir were the backing vocals with Guitars in 1988
Damn Dana wasnt even close to qualifying. Such a fall
Well well Måns Zelmerlöw may be added to this list. Ofcourse he didn't win Melodifestivalen 2025 yet, but I am convinced just like Loreen he will win the Melodifestivalen 2025 and comeback to Eurovision 2025 10 years since he won in 2015. He may win Eurovision 2025 just like Loreen and if that happen we have 3 people who won twice where 2 are from Sweden. But I am also sure that if he gets in Eurovision 2025 again that he gets a lot of Jury points, but that he may have trouble with the public vote since the disaster of 2023.
1979-1988 mistake. Yardena Arazi wasn`t member of Milk and Honey. In 1979 was Gali Atari, not Yardena. Yardena took part in 1976 and 1988. Not won.
What about returning artists who won after multiple attempts like Linda Martin in 1992, or is she the only one
there are 5 artists, actually, Dima Bilan is similar to Linda Martin, placed 2nd on his 1st contest and won on his 2nd, he's also the only male in this group.
Carola from Sweden got 3rd in 1983 then won in 1991
@@quangminhtran2916 technically, not the only male, since Ihor Didenchuk won as a member of Kalush Orchestra and had also participated as a member of Go_A. But Dima is the only male soloist
the misspelling of "johnny logan" made me laugh😂 who is johonny

Did ABBA participate the year prior they won? I don’t have that fact off the top of my head
