THANK YOU!!
Extra detail I noticed: There is a conscious amount of power that Zaraki suppresses with the eye patch already right? And now you're telling me there's power he unconsciously suppresses on top of that???! LAWD
he’s the goat fr
Zaraki was nerfed since the beginning. Now he got a zampakutoh.
Thanks Unohana. 🙏
He is HIM.
Exactly, he put layers upon layers of shackles on himself, both consciously (eyepatch) and unconsciously. And he was still a beast.
Not that unusual, though. Remember, Aizen was also born with stupidly high reiatsu level even for a Captain. Hitsugaya was also a prodigy for his age and the youngest Captain ever.
Yhwatch no diff the verse
This fight was poetic af. It's sucks we lost Unohana but, she died on her own own terms so mad respect for my Queen.
I've read "Pathetic" and I was about to throw punches. It was only my stupidity, thank god.
I couldn't see shit half of the time
@@tensā_zangetsu_01 Hulu or Disney+ my guy.
there is actually a reason to why ichigo at least didn´t react to buff Kon, its because he actually appeared in this form early on this arc in Mayuri lab, but they cut it from the anime
The fact that Zaraki not only suppressed himself constantly but also subconsciously suppressed himself to the level of his opponents just to have fun is crazy.
Kenpachi just unlocked his primal desire. Shit is going to get unreal.
I don't think you're wrong but I always get a mother and child vibe from the two of them. Like she finally was able to provide him some sort of (twisted) love, and he doesn't necessarily know how to react to her death
I really find it weird how people refer to their relationship as mother and child when you know the full context of their relationship.
Most often it should be the opposite but this is the case where I don't see it being a mother/child relationship.
@@internetgoat4831 Actually thinking of it as anything but mother and child is weird.
1- You'd be implying Unohana fell in love with a CHILD.
2- Unohana's speech amounts mostly to a mother talking to her son about life, specially when she talks about knowing he loved fighting.. Zaraki killing her and her "now you have enemies to fight, comrades to spar" speech amounts to "you can leave the nest now, because there's a whole life ahead of you".
3 - Unohana outright states "he's like a child".
4- Zaraki's crying is more like a son losing his only living relative.
So yes, it's a twisted mother-son relationship.
@@brtruev1710 The whole mother-and-child angle conveniently ignores that Zaraki in the manga said explicitly that fighting her gives him a boner.
No you were right the first time: she actually was killing him over and over again but she healed him each time…think of him as a saiyan…each time they lose they come back way stronger
Not really the same as a Saiyan. He's not getting stronger from dying, he's just unlocking the power he already has.
@@decomposedcorpse5186 that’s what I was saying(no pun intended 🤣)….he gets stronger when he gets his ass beat just like goku and nem 🤷🏿♂️
@@falconsfan28-38 The difference being that Goku is actually getting new power while Kenpachi just starts using more of the power he already has.
@@decomposedcorpse5186 y u nitpicking nigga u knew wat he was trying to say .
Yeah, like I said last vid, they have the most romantic murder hobo story in this anime. They are madly in love with each other, in a "I love fighting and killing you." Kind of way. Their scars throb whenever they hear each other's voices, Kenny is the only man who brought her to ecstasy and joy, while Unohana is the only woman he admired and enjoyed fighting against. Their smiles towards each other as satisfaction. Kenny's also ultra depressed and was in denial when she died (low-key, she probably let herself die cus they don't have time. She totally could go for longer), even laying her body in a resting position with Minazuki used as her tombstone as respect (If it were anyone else, he would've just left them to rot in whatever position they were last).
my ahh it's not romantic why do y'all have to make everything romantic like that's the only relationship ppl can have ppl can care for each other n love w/o viewing each other romantically
Just a point out, if u notice anytime ichigo hits rock bottom its raining, when he lost his mom, when he fought the person who killed her, before he died to when ulquiora, when genju took his power, even the monolog of zangetsu saying I hate the rain. Another great reaction keep it up
Yama would have most likely been able to push him as well but remember the central 46 banned them from teaching Kenpachi in Zanjutsu.
Yup they strictly prohibited Yamaji from training him at all, but Yamaji defied their orders a bit and taught him Kendo, that also explains why unohana was restricted before, now we get to see her finally fulfilling her only purpose that is birthing a true kenpachi through battle!that's why she calls him a child at the end.
@@doometernal9427 Well, they banned Yama from doing that after he had already trained him for that one day.
They forbade him because, with only a day of Kendo training, Zaraki became much stronger.
The way kenpachi threw his sword away and caught unohana as she was dying. I think goes to show he really admired and respected her. 😢
Emotional goodbye to Unohana and amazing fight. And now you finally know why back in Soul Society arc, Byakuya told Ichigo that his Zanpakuto and Bankai don't really seem like that.
Kudos for Tite Kubo and Studio Pierrot to improve and add upon Unohana's Bankai...It was always a gray area and confusion to know what was it's power really but now animated it makes more sense...It's seems to corrode and heal at insane speed depending on the blood of Unohana...It's worthy of the title Kenpachi !!! Glorious animation !!
Kenpachi is the title of the "strongest", and the first 13 squads were the strongest. Unohana is the original Kenpachi.
Zaraki is a place in Seretei, so Kenpachi of Zaraki is how he is called because he is a nameless kid from the slums of Zaraki. He never really had a name.
Well, i don't wanna spoil, tho it's obvious. The VA doing the Quote at the end was Sayaka Ohara. She only voiced 1 character in Bleach. Only a few lines, even. It gives context to the line too.
for more context: unohana bankai is using stomach acid from her shikai where she used to heal but now she actually using it to dissolve Zaraki to his bones to hasten his death and heal him over and over again until he finally remove all his mental block on his power.
“This is my head canon” the comment. Never had an actual explanation ever
@@STGAoe technically still Canon because anime added a lot of extra scenes that every normal human beings will able to get it with common sense. Clearly you lack one.
@@set7618 Clearly you don’t understand that his explanation is him taking the “metaphorical melting” too seriously. Its not a part of the bankai considering the context of the dialogue made it clear in the manga and even here that its just for a metaphor.
Her bankai revolves around blood. Thats the only thing we know.
@@STGAoe Clearly you didn't understand Zaraki wasn't talking metaphorically at all. Both the anime and Brave Souls work with the "melting flesh" explanation, and since Kubo works closely with both, it's supposed to be the canon explanation. Plus, melting as a metaphor for battle doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
@@STGAoe "If the shoe fits" the comment lol. The manga itself was given bare bones information though it was pretty much more obvious with how little amount of panels their fight had to piece together the info. It wasn't until Brave Souls where her bankai was described as "Blood-Like Acid" *Acid* *Minazuki uses Acid in shikai* *This is still Minazuki but written differently to have a different meaning* = 1+1 =2 Logic. Unless Kubo decided to retcon how her abilities worked in the gacha game compared to how they work in the anime. INB4 I have the "Its a gacha so it isn't canon" debate *eyerolls* The only "Non-Canon" stuff are the character alts, ugh. But the base abilities of the characters are canon.
Her Bankai it’s this blood red liquid that melts everything it touches, I saw a lot of people thinking that the skull was metaphorical
I did consider that, thank youuu
To be fair, the anime does a poor job at explaining what her Bankai does. Some people also think it also has the power of healing, while Unohana makes it clear she's using healing Kido for that.
Bleach wiki does not agree. The skull is metaphorical. It does not melt things.
@@hkig448833 Wiki is wiki..wiki's are fan made, they are informative source but not The official source... Unohana bankai is vague(in manga is even more vague) but is the opposite of her shikai.. Her shikai heals whyle her bankai is the blood around her that corrodes.. She (almoust)killed Zaraki lots of times in this battle and heals him back everytime.. I belive the skuls are both psyhical and metaphorical (she actually melts/corrodes their flesh to the bone, but in the same time Zaraki's shackles are also melting). Anyway untill Kubo says in some databook what that scene is, we can interpret it either way.
@@hkig448833 You're bringing up a fan wiki? Lol
Eye patch, bells in his hair, only using one arm to fight, testing his foes by letting them hit him to gauge their power. People crap on him, but Kubo knows how to foreshadow
That romantic aspect centered around violence is almost reminiscent of his previous foe in the Arrancar arc ( Nnoitra ), who was insanely frustrated because Nel would not enjoy battle and especially not with him, and just kept pitying him for being a savage who couldn't see himself as more than that. Later, he tried to get to her level, failed, and still got pitied afterward, then died over this. Unohana is the exact reverse and enjoys it along with Kenpachi, making both of them happy, but still cursed by death at the end of it.
Yes she was killing him, and then healing him that’s why he kept saying he was blacking out. Bro was actually dead 😂
I feel like Unohana similarly suppressed herself simply with her assumption that she was weaker and always would be. Instead of training and reaching her own potential, she stopped fighting, learned to heal, and stayed stagnant for Zaraki, to forgive her “sin.” She spends most of this fight reviving/healing Zaraki, and you can’t help but think that she would be his full equal if she could’ve dedicated herself to fighting, if she didn’t decide that she must be weaker, and if she didn’t have to sacrifice herself to save Zaraki from himself.
There probably wasn't much potential left she is thousands of years old, she was probably around her peak without the healing vs zaraki
@@k1ngty704 How would she be considered at her peak if she then became an expert at kido and specifically healing-related kido? 🤔 It also doesn’t seem like she necessarily had her bankai yet (especially as it incorporates healing which she was only interested in after fighting Zaraki).
@@ladynoluck I mean she peaked in her main fighting style
@@k1ngty704 perhaps! hard to say given the whole situation and her not fighting for hundreds of years
The databook both yama and unohana reach thier peak back soul society. They both 1000 years old ( excluding yama he 2k year) at this point to break the limit as break thier limits the need something else altogether
He actually doesn’t have a bankai nor a shikai since he never knew the name of his zanpakto until now. Nvm you got it I think lol
19:59 to answer your question, basically Kenpachi hasn't been formally trained so that they can keep him in check. He only trained with Yamamoto once and it was only a day and that was it, that's why when Shunsui became head captain he told Unohana to formally train him zanjutsu and even then he still got some backlash from the central 46 guys.
everything but the rain is one of the most beautiful and revealing moments of the work in general, I'm really looking forward to it
Bleach episode #38
"Ichigo... do you know how I hate rain? And it rains in this world, too. If your heart is troubled, the skies will become cloudy. If you grieve, it will rain ever so easily. I wonder if you can understand... the fear of being rained on in this lonely world... To stop the rain I shall lend you any strenght, any power. If you just have faith in me, I will not allow any rain to fall upon this world. Trust me, Ichigo.
As long as I'm here, you'll never fight alone."
-Zangetsu
Slid Renji in there when she talked about comrades Kenpachi could fight on equal terms 💀💀
You, without sin are like the sun.
a new born baby, that hasn't committed a sin, is still pure like the sun, yes as you say, light. The more sins one commits the more the light would fade, becoming less pure and less like the sun.
Lala the only one who actually caught the HUGE symbolism in Zaraki's behavior whenever he threw his sword away to carefully catch her back. All the other reactors just were too hype to even notice lol
Crazy to think that he was stronger when he met the 1st Kenpachi and literally had to nerf himself because there can't have been anyone stronger than her at that point in time lol
Loved Unohana & Kenpachi's story and fight choreography. Sad that one had to go to pass the torch for the next generation. Excited on what Kenpachi latent powers will yield later on.
man zaraki be managing his strength better than i manage my own money
I love how you pointed out the romantic air between the Kenpachis
10:36 I felt the same, watching him unflinchingly remove his sword and immediately catching Unohana was so fucking phenomenal and beautiful
So context with Unohana since you basically would have to play the Bleach Mobile game to get a better understanding of her abilities:
Its stomach acid from her Zapakuto Manifestation Spirit. I think it was shown only once? As that big Manta Ray. Shikai it can heal people by using its Stomach Acid, Bankai it uses it to literally melt away the enemy WHILE also continuously Auto-Healing Unohana.
Kenpachi as a Skeleton wasn't an illusion or him imagining it, he literally was corroded to that extent but basically Unohana is auto-healing both of them. We're shown the lesser version of this prior to her bankai as she shows no actual signs of healing Zaraki as she "revives him", so it wasn't given an actual visual-cue.
I'm just assuming they didn't draw Kenpachi all melted immediately is because it would have been a pain to constantly draw him with flesh coming off and waving around skeleton parts in motion. Because we have to remember, all injuries are being auto-healed. So to visually show that with each strike "probably" would have been too much.
Unohana basically let herself be killed despite the Auto-Healing because A) She ran out of Spiritual Energy because of keeping up her Bankai and Auto-Healing constantly B)She just wanted to die as she accepted it was her time
I think more like B answer.
She still has a lot of Reiatsu but if she continue, Zaraki may never reach his TRUE SELF
Probably B. She didn't have her Bankai up for long and she's supposed to be one of the strongest captains, I cant imagine her running out of power that fast.
my favorite part in this reaction is the poem reaction 😂
10:35 Even with the blur I remember it so vividly, that was beautiful and sad 😭
Zaraki doesn't have a Shikai let alone a Bankai and he's fighting more or less on equal terms with Bankai Unohana. Let that sink in.
This is by far one of the best fights in the series and one of the reasons I call Kenpachi the secondary protagonist of Bleach. He has this incredibly dramatic, emotional and meaningful relationship with combat and then we get this fight where we find out he has this weird trauma from his childhood born of fear of being too strong, and Unohana is here taking responsibility for it and trying to help him overcome it as best as she can
In an incredibly fucked up way, this fight is a form of therapy
For both of them, battle was everything.
I had literally the same reaction as you when Zaraki threw his sword and caught Unohana 🥺
Unohana really said:
"i am Malenia, blade of Miquella... and my flower arrangements have never met defeat."
I'm I the only one who thinks Unohana lowkey threw the match after Zaraki's Zanpanto awake I mean she literally didn't even look like she tried to react when Zaraki came in for the finishing blow
I think the title of Kenpachi refers more towards like most savage and maybe brute power. I know what you mean by other strong people like Yama.
Remember the poem voiced by Kenpachi at the end of a couple episodes ago ""Neither form nor soul shall escape my blade. Nothing...except you." I think he was talking about Unohana. There is definitely passionate undertones in their relationship in its own somewhat twisted way through battle.
A bit of foreshadowing about who Unohana was is that at one point stat sheets were released for the shinigami and the only ones with higher stats than Unohana were Yama and Aizen and it was only by twenty points.
ppl perceiving romance in their final moment was always so weird for me, Kubo is clearly paralleling a mother/son relationship both literally and in metaphor
Zaraki and Saitama share a similar trait of frustration from an empty victory. It's like defeating an opponent not because you proved to be better, but because they forfeit.
Its one of those tropes I really enjoy when done right. Self applied power limiters; because they're afraid theyll hurt someone or in our boys case, feels the thrill and tension of a close fight.
I'd say you're on point regarding Yamamoto. But that's the thing. They probablly KNEW what he was capable of. Thus the refusal to train him properly.
Everything but the rain is one of the greatest parts of bleach and my favourite mini arcs in all anime
You can think of the name "kenpachi" as a title for world champ etc. Doesnt necessarily mean there the strongest as others dont have something to prove for it.
They are going so hard on the new bankais and I am absolutely loving it
im so ready for him to go to someone and say send me back and then say a squad 0 member said Im not allowed there anymore then they just stop lol
the lady talking in the credits is ichigo's mom and isshin called her the sun of the family
For the next episode it’s gonna be a 1 hour special episode combining episodes 11 and 12, it’s gonna come out on the 26th😁
and another thing: don't try to know who did it was zaraki's zanpakuto VA, that will give you a relatively big spoiler
Kenpachi and Unohana are both battle hungry psychopaths lol. Imagine suppressing your strength and learning the ability to heal just so that you can satisfy yourself in battle absolute craziness lol.
I think the "strength" about the kenpachis is more about their power in pure sword fights, because I agree I don't see zaraki or unohana defeating yamamoto not even together lol, even been close to him is almost impossible for that 15,000,000 celsius heat lol. Fake yhwach even say that he had to use blut to not be turn into ashes.
Vault of Strenght, exactly like Ichigo had this whole time.
Part 1 finale will be a double episode on 12/26!! I’m excited 😆
the title everything but the rain is an homage to the episode titled memories in the rain
Everything But the Rain, my personal favorite story arc of Bleach.
The sun draws attention just like rain
unohana's bankai works like this: it melts everything around it, even unohana itself, that's why she had to learn the healing techniques, so she can heal while her opponent turns to mush of mortal remains
I'm pretty sure it heals her but melts everything else cuz if the shikai already heals anything the acid touches but the bankai just does the reverse but with the added benefit of healing her
You didn't see the rocks and surroundings being melted. Her attacks extend via the blood, and based on the framing, she can heal when dealing damage to her enemies this fulfilling her desires. Poison wouldn't do that, it would only weaken the enemy and sour the fight. Kenpachi was describing how he felt while fighting more and more like his old self.
Fun fact: The woman quoting the outro is ichigo's mom voice. Can't wait for ep11
Oetsu doesn't need a girlfriend. He just needs to create the most beautiful zanpakuto and his wife will be the most beautiful woman in the Bleach universe. Lol.
Two of the best characters 👑👑
Imagine that you can create your own girlfriend or boyfriend just with a zanpakuto (OP).
Romantic air.....
Definitely more romantic than twilight
Love your reaction btw
Her Bankai uses Her blood as acid and melts away the skin or she can just use regular blood attacks.
Great episode !! and I would like to know you speak french too ????? lol
Unohana's Bankai can melt anything including herself. Thanks to Kaido, she was able to continuously heal Zaraki and herself. Thus, the battle between the two was continued until Zaraki fully awakened and that was Unohana's last wish. She has more than enough power to heal all her wounds but she doesn't do so just to leave the title of Kenpachi reserved for the only worthy one.
notice his zanpaktou sounded like a younger unohana way it spoke
6:21 He's literally Kid Buu of Bleach that's why.
They were actually skeletons, she was actually killing him. She was just bringing him back. It’s crazy. Idk how. But if u see the manga it’s true
the strongest on kenpachi means the strongest on raw battle, not the most powerful, unohana original name, yachiru, meant she mastered thousands of sword styles, zaraki had a rule on his squad to no one use bankai or kido based powers, for a kenpashi(at least the majority of them) their powers were mere assets for them to use to enhance their sword fighting prowess and bankais were only seen as absolute last resorts, excluding asashiro who was very criticized for not acting of fighting like a kenpachi at all, so thats why people dont understand the strongest title, it means kenpachis(at the majority of them) were the best sword fighters on the whole gotei 13, and they only used their shikai and bankai, hadou, kidou or whatever to enhance even further their sword fighting prowess, take unohana as example, her bankai is very op, for those that did not understood the concept, her bankai releases that blood like liquid who can simply restore/heal her from almost anything and can simply melt the body of her enemies, but she simply did not use it as a proper kidou bankai, she used it to improve her sword fight even more, releasing slice projectiles, imbuing her sword on liquid, and healing herself, she could just trap someone inside her bankai and wait for him to melt away, but that is not a kenpachi style, that is not the style of the strongests, the best sword fighters in the whole gotei 13, zaraki is the very peak of kenpachi cause unlike previous kenpachis he actually never needed a shikai and bankai, or whatever other power, to match all other captains, he was unohana choosen one for this reason, his sword fighting skills and physical prowess was already at bankai level from the very beginning, and now he is even strogner than that, plus have a shikai and a bankai, the embodyment of OP side character lol.
16:52
I mean, he IS one of the Royal Guard. xD Of anyone, I think he can back up that edict.
Zaraki vs. Unohana is just the pinnacle of "Did we fight or have sex?"
You don't understand, Ichigo had to learn it from his father's past and as well his mother's
Yea so... when Zaraki was a kid, he was a Whole Kid. He wasn't a "Half-Kid" or the less commonly known "Quarter-Kid" or any kind of "Partial-Kid" that may appear in life. He was definitely a Whole Kid...
You will learn once we get there.
Also, as zaraki is, without sword teachings, without a shinkai and bankai, he was worthy of the title of kenpachi.
Even the gottei cort, said that they had to stop yamamoto after teaching him the way of the sword after 1 day.
The head captain is someone not only strong, but who has a lot of other stats too...like intelligence, techniques, leadership. Don't know if you saw hunterxhunter, but there are strong individuals that are stronger than the boss of an organization, but follow orders as they don't care to think and bare the responsibility af planning and commanding.
That said, the title of kenpachi is given only to the strongest shinigami...and that shinigami has to back up the title as well. But once things start to move, you'll understand why zaraki is worthy of this title...and I can't stress this out, but the dude is just raw power. He doesn't uses sword styles, no kido, no nothing...just raw strength. If he had the full package, he'd be the most op shinigami there is.
my favorite volume coming up next week!!!
Unohana´s bankai "Minazuki" means all ends.
- If I remember correctly
Sun is bright ( Quincy) rain is gloomy dark ( soul ripper )
Yama ji à essayé de l'entrainer, mais le central 46 lui a demandé d'arrêter au bout d'une journée, si ils avaient continué, Zaraki serait devenu trop fort.
Kubo did a trash job with her, such a cool character
Yamamoto would probably kill Kenoachi accidentally before he got strong enough to fight him. Unohana is the perfect person to push him because she doesn’t have to hold back
FunFact : Unohana and Yamamoto Genryusai are not died so are all the Shinigami are going to die on this arc 😅 they all will be back on Hell Arc that is currently on work by Kubo
Basically Zaraki is an Berserker
You are right. Why he didn’t fight Yama
People are making a lot of confusion at two facts:
1- Zaraki and Unohana's melting away isn't a metaphor or symbolism. It's actually her power. "Melting away" as a metaphor for battle doesn't make any sense whatsoever. That's why Unohana uses her healing powers, so both can recover and continue battling.
2- Her healing powers aren't a part of her Bankai powers. It's healing Kido (Kaido). She outright mentions that, but some people think her Bankai can, simultaneously, melt and heal.
P.S.: Also Nimaiya couldn't tell him about the "roots" (partly because Renji was there, and he was acting out of respect for Ichigo by not divulging he's part Quincy). There's always a risk of, upon learning about his roots, Ichigo ending up as a Quincy, since he doesn't have a Zanpakuto anymore.
One mistake you made...you said that Zaraki still has his bankai. He doesn't, he never heard his Zanpaktou speak, so he never learned its name in order to achieve a bankai. Zaraki is the only shinigami to have achieved captain without having a bankai!
Also, yes, Unohana was actually killing Zaraki each time and resurrecting him...but eventually he would return to his full power and would deliver a blow to her that she wouldn't be able to heal from. That's why one of them would have to die.
And Kenpachi is a title, it is bestowed upon the strongest swordsman. Unohana was the first Kenpachi, Zaraki surpassed her and became the new Kenpachi! Kenpachi is not the most powerful shinigami, they are simply the strongest swordsman...so while Captain Yamamoto was more powerful with his abilities, he was not as strong with the sword as Unohana or Zaraki.
I really in enjoyed this episode the fight between unohana and Kenpachi was perfect but I’m lowkey looking forward to the next episode more
not that he doesn't use a bankai he legit didn't even know the name of his shikai so he never fought in either form before
The strongest shinigami, you mean like.... the Kenpachi? lol
The Kenpatchi title doesn't include Yamamoto, there's no way that Kenpachi is stronger than him, he needs to train his power for years to be in his lvl .. Am not sure about Unohana tho because we didn't see much from her.
10:27 The crack pairing I ship in Bleach.
Unohana bankai is melt
The poem at the end was from Unohana to Kenpachi. She had undone the sin she put on Kenpachi (his self limits). Now without his sin Kenpachi is beautiful and warm like the sun to her
No it's actually from a character of next episode
don't forget, Yamamoto gave Zaraki 1 Kendo Class and Central 46 shit their pants and said "yeah no more of that shit, that fucker is to OP"
and Zaraki has no Shikai or anything (yet)
but Soon, SOON we all shall Bask in his Glory, so yeah Anime of the Year lets go
If kid kenpachi was stronger that unohana then does that mean he was stronger than the other OG captains?😮
Killer bee vibes 😆
The rain day is connected by mom death
Yamamoto is stronger than unohana, yamaji is the reason why unohana was changed from being a killer to healer. Yamaji is the captain of OG gotei 13, yamji kept them all(12 killers captain) in check. The title kenpachi was name/given to unohana because she was the best swordsman and have the most kill out of them all. zaraki really strong but yamaji is the captain commander for a reason(no shinigami has been born stronger than him, except ichigo/aizen for plot reason)
