Listening to this in 2020, as it's one of my favorite music videos on the internet. Makes me happy and sad. Greatest song writing team since Lennon/McCartney and they harmonized so well together.
Never thought that a fuzzy acoustic version of relatively forgettable filler track would be a serious contender for my favorite BNL song. What a magical chorus, so special and intimate.
the "bye bye self respect" parts are my favorites. they do it with SO MUCH POWER. gives me goosebumps every time! i love how steve adds those subtle background vocals. that kind of attention to detail is something i absolutely love about this band. this song is a masterpiece!
God. I understand that you don't want to work together, and that you're people too. It just sucks. BNL is such a huge part of my inner self, my first CD I ever purchased in 1999, and over all these years. It's okay though. We have plenty of excellent music to listen to. The new stuff isn't bad, it just objectively isn't the same band.
I love that these guys decided to film these little impromptu acoustic sessions in the bathroom! And they sound great! I saw them in concert 3 times and I love them.
How about re-adhering these guys together. I'm ready for a reunion tour. Great harmony, equally great song, also some freakin awesome guitar work Ed. I'm going to spend all my practice time to this one.
This song always gets me out of a bad mood without fail. I had a bad day at work today, hearing about some stuff about this girl I really like. I listened to this song on my way home and I perked right up once the lyrics started that I started laughing and almost cried from the relief. BNL forever.
Been to see these guys live a few times now and it's very rare that you find a band that play live and sound as perfect live as they do on their studio album. Some of the tightest and effortless i've ever had the pleasure to hear!
pt 2. You know, another one of those bands known in the mainstream for one album. BUT, in this case, I couldn't be happier that it was at least Stunt. If you look at any Top 100 albums of all time, I've heard, listened & studied nearly every album on the list and I honestly can say that Stunt is THE most perfect modern pop album. It has that rare combination of great songwriting and that extra thing that elevates it above other great albums. It's a masterpiece that I never saw coming.
"someday I will find the secret to your social chemistry, then i'll print it on a t-shirt & it'll make you wanna be with me" ~ one of my favorite lyrics ever, this is seriously one of my favorite songs too
My toilet sessions are what can only be described as crimes against humanity. Hence, this beautiful noise demands that you lads sort your differences out and get back on with being awesome!!!
This song, Steve popping from the background and doing up his fly, the positive energy. This is the best of BNL. (Not that Kev, Ty, and Jim don't add a lot.) It'll be sad with Steve gone, but I'm confident they'll keep up the energy. I saw a show in Buffalo where they royally screwed this song up and ended up starting over from the beginning. It was pretty amazing.
Brilliant choreography and phrasing; every moment is a gem. This is some fantastic! And I shouldn't even mention that the staging is like a grayed Vermeer painting.
They were great when I saw them in 2015. My favorite part was when Ed brought out his two sons and they and the band all played a song together. After the song, Ed goes "this is our retirement plan!"
This was always my favorite BNL song, and even though I wouldn't have thought it could be done, this version is soooo much better than the album version!! I'm not saying the other guys don't contribute a lot to the band, but on this particular song, it's just better with Ed and Steven, just like this.
I haven't watched this video in years, and yet listening to it now it takes me right back to the summer 4 years ago when I first watched it. How much life has changed since then. I really wish they were all still together, it's really hard to watch this after all that has happened. But the song is just as great and epic as it was back then.
Every time I hear the guitar in this I get really happy and just start smiling. Then when they start singing I squeal a bit and clap. This song is just too good.
yeah well what do you expect with a bathroom session hahaha... typical bnl humor. you gotta love these guys. to everyone i have to say one thing... catch a concert! they are worth every dollar. it will change your life forever
I got to meet Jim and Andy in Salt Lake City when they toured for "Trunks". I asked Jim when they got on stage, and he said "Oh Aboot 11 o'clock"....I couldn't contain my grin when he said "about" like "a boot". :)
oh oh oh you guys are soooo awesome! no fancy stuff and you sound EVEN BETTER! oh I love you both so! come sing in my living room any time! thank for sharing this with your fans! tickets cost this is cheap
Saw these guys December 13 in Birmingham, thought they were just as good without Steve, but damn! I'll never get to see BnL in their original form and that makes me a very sad panda.
Alex Jones Yeah, Steven Page (The guy who joins in at around 31 seconds) left the band in 2009 to pursue a solo career, Barenaked Ladies are still around though and released Grinning Streak last year, which I think is a return to form for them, I, like most of the people on here, do miss Steve, but I don't think it's made them any less of a band.
god i love you guys. i was just running to this album the other day. GREAT acoustics, yay bathroom. and your voices sound so awesome; you're on pitch each time, i think! steve looks uncomfortable, until he sits....lol. shouldn't've come in late, eh?
"it's aboot dignity, it's aboot respect!" :) yes I totally watched that movie! It was so cool, I knew they were playing a Jazz club, and I was downtown having dinner and I knew they were playing the club, so i stopped by at 8 PM and standing right at the entrance talking to the doorman was Jim. (He's tall!) So I shook his hand, and asked him what time they took the stage. He was really cool, and later I met Andy, he was nice too!
While it's sad to see Steve leave, I think it'll be interesting to see how their next album sounds without his influence on the music and lyrics. I have a feeling Jim, Tyler and Kevin will all pitch more than ever to fill the sort of void Steve left behind.

Some Fantastic is no filler track, sir or madam
I will never get tired of watching Ed Robertson play the guitar. He is so crazy good on that acoustic!
This is definitely the best version of the song I have heard yet. I love these guys.
the "bye bye self respect" parts are my favorites. they do it with SO MUCH POWER. gives me goosebumps every time! i love how steve adds those subtle background vocals. that kind of attention to detail is something i absolutely love about this band. this song is a masterpiece!
One of their very best songs ... truly underrated ... and thanks for no flushing sound effects at the end!
They should consider putting these bathroom sessions on a CD, I would love to have a copy---superb!!!
Was having a tough day, landed on this gem today. This group was so underrated, and this song specifically is still in the playlist rotation.
God. I understand that you don't want to work together, and that you're people too. It just sucks. Very natural blend of lyrical styles, but this is as close we’ll ever get so I’m happy we got this much
How about re-adhering these guys together. I'm ready for a reunion tour. Great harmony, equally great song, also some freakin awesome guitar work Ed. I'm going to spend all my practice time to this one.
It speaks a lot to the quality of BNL’s songwriting that their song work so well in this context. This might be my favourite bathroom sessions track
these videos are pure nostalgia in a bottle for me. I'm back in my living room as a little kid laughing and dancing.
Missing you guys a lot, together that is (from Montreal Qc).
This song always gets me out of a bad mood without fail. I had a bad day at work today, hearing about some stuff about this girl I really like. I listened to this song on my way home and I perked right up once the lyrics started that I started laughing and almost cried from the relief. BNL forever.
probably one of the best of the last 2 decades
You 2 were so magical.
Barenaked ladies are just the best band in the world. No two ways about it. Love them so much.
IF these two guys only realized how magical they were together.....
Still visiting in 2019 to enjoy this
2020 here.
This is such a great song!! Wish they still sang together.
Don’t do drugs
your voices were meant to be together nit apart. PLEASE get back together. Your voices were perfect together
Agree 100%
These bathroom sessions were so awesome!
Been to see these guys live a few times now and it's very rare that you find a band that play live and sound as perfect live as they do on their studio album. Some of the tightest and effortless i've ever had the pleasure to hear!
Some fantastic is very romantic song. You and Steven sound perfect together 😘

Such an understated guitarist.. I could listen to him play for hours.
My toilet sessions are what can only be described as crimes against humanity. Hence, this beautiful noise demands that you lads sort your differences out and get back on with being awesome!!!
One of my favourite songs on Stunt, and this version is simply amazing!

Barenaked just isn't the same without Steven. I am so grateful I got to see the original BNL a couple of times, this music is my childhood.
They were great when I saw them in 2015. My favorite part was when Ed brought out his two sons and they and the band all played a song together. After the song, Ed goes "this is our retirement plan!"

my god, that was amazing... I used to listen to Stunt all the time but had forgotten about this song...wow :)
Every time I hear the guitar in this I get really happy and just start smiling. Then when they start singing I squeal a bit and clap. This song is just too good.
these guys r the GREATEST EVER, the way the harmonize is absolutly amazing
they have kept me alive inside... thank you.. they are the best....
They were so good together. I got to see them live, too. They were fantastic!
I listened to a couple BNL albums today while mowing. Haven't listened to them in a while, but man BNL are good! I bet they're great in concert.
the bathroom is a great place just to have the right natural reverb and echo. I love BNL Bathroom Sessions! :D
one of my favourite BNL song, and it's also so great to hear artists who don't only sing nice on their (computer edited) albums, but also live :D
Could listen to this on a loop forever.
yeah well what do you expect with a bathroom session hahaha... typical bnl humor. you gotta love these guys. to everyone i have to say one thing... catch a concert! they are worth every dollar. it will change your life forever
the team work between ed and steve is so incredible. so sad it's over!
Still loving this ten years later!
AMAZING i love these guys, Better than the CD version by FAR
Steve leaving BNL: the day music died.
The harmony part in this is absolutely fantastic!
Thanks for the info! I'll be sure to keep an eye out for their next concert. Thanks again...
I think the best moment of my life is going to one of there concerts.
Un-freaking-believable! That one sent chills down my spine.... thanks guys!

I got to meet Jim and Andy in Salt Lake City when they toured for "Trunks". I asked Jim when they got on stage, and he said "Oh Aboot 11 o'clock"....I couldn't contain my grin when he said "about" like "a boot". :)
This is my favorite one from the bathroom sessions. Maybe they should sell all of these on a usb stick that would be sweet.
so talented. i love them. i still remember the speakers corner performance. someone needs to upload that.
I'd LOVE to see the outtakes...these guys have cracked me up for years!
oh oh oh you guys are soooo awesome! no fancy stuff and you sound EVEN BETTER! oh I love you both so! come sing in my living room any time! thank for sharing this with your fans! tickets cost this is cheap
I came across this song not too long ago, but this has made it one of my favorites if not my overall favorite.
Feel like this song can give us some sort of insight into COVID-19 :D
I will take anything I can get from these guys, miss them, as Rebecca said get back together we need you !

very true, he had a very specific, distinct, rare voice :) none other like his from what I've heard so far :) I shall miss it
You guys are amazing
Saw these guys December 13 in Birmingham, thought they were just as good without Steve, but damn! I'll never get to see BnL in their original form and that makes me a very sad panda.
Without Steve's unique voice and the chemistry with him and Ed its pretty much a shell-band im glad i saw them in toronto
It's amazing how much talent these guys have. I wonder if they will ever tou the UK?
god i love you guys. i was just running to this album the other day.
GREAT acoustics, yay bathroom. and your voices sound so awesome; you're on pitch each time, i think!
steve looks uncomfortable, until he sits....lol. shouldn't've come in late, eh?
Love these guys please come back
I agree, it's sad that he's left, but i'm so glad that they're carrying on.
Gonna miss his voice though, it's so unique
brilliant..2 guys and a guitar..some fantastic indeed!!
@TheMultiPaul you are 100% right :) i listen to their music alot and its all brilliant!
I'd forgotten what a fantastic song this is. Some fantastic, yes.
Steven's entrance into the video... 🤣
Why is no one talking about why Steven was buckling up his pants when he entered frame.
I think you can hear a flush too, these guys are genuinely hilarious
Hmm... I think this is my new favorite song of theirs. xD Been a fan forever!
Love their voices. Original and not altered
Awesome :D
I can't wait to see them at the Hammersmith Apollo in just a day's time :D
Priceless ❤
Those two gentleman make perfect harmony, love them!
Absolutely awesome!
This is scarily good.
Shit these bathroom sessions are good.
I always wished I could play as well as him, and sing as well as Page!
While it's sad to see Steve leave, I think it'll be interesting to see how their next album sounds without his influence on the music and lyrics. I have a feeling Jim, Tyler and Kevin will all pitch more than ever to fill the sort of void Steve left behind.
