This documentary changed a lot of things. The world was able to formally recognise how beautiful and globe stretching the Subaru Community really is! Epic.
Listed my Subaru for sale a week ago. After watching this documentary it’s no longer up for sale it made me realise how amazing this lifestyle is and the people I’ve met along the way have made it all worth it. Thank you!
Bro, if you’re in debt and need to sell, get rid of the fuckin thing, it’s not worth being financially stressed. Sold mine years ago and now just got two years left to pay off my mortgage.
This was a great documentary. I have owned 2 Subaru's so far and the community is one of the best I've ever come across. To have it documented like this and in so many ways and experiences is incredible. Great piece of work.
Jan and Jose, we could not thank you enough for the privilege to be a part of your documentary!! In a time where the automotive enthusiast industry is under attack in California specifically, we all could use a voice that reflects on what’s on the other side of the coin, and your movie as a whole did that! You guys and your crew did an amazing job at not just getting you voice and word out, but as well as THE COMMUNITY’s voice over all!! People forget what and why we do this through all the hype, but it’s a refreshing take to see your humble voice be heard! From Corporate to Motorsports, to Lifestyle to personal! Subaru means to UNITE, and you did that effectively in this video! From our heart to yours, we thank you for your hard work! Now sit back, and take a load off, your home now! Cheers my brothers!🍻 Cheers to everyone that understands the craziness behind what and why we do what we do, and love what we do! We are all an #AwdsomeFamily 🙏
Thank you AWDsome Lifestyle for your expression and feedback. This is great. Now we are able to talk about social issues that are currently happening in the car culture and California. Actually we are talking about several cultural issues in this doc. Let's educate, create awareness, and fix the issues that have been around the car culture. Your voice is now being heard world wide. Let's continue to be that change. LOL Much love. Cheers!
This documentary is the best thing I've seen.....really touched my heart and made me love my Subaru sti even more then I already do.... excellent job!!!
I saw your Buddhist Bootcamp sticker- Timber is a really good friend of mine he pretty much saved my life when I was homeless. I also used to mountain bike most of my life and a bad snowboarding accident changed all of that. My hips are really bad so now I also turn to cars more and am a huge Subaru fan. Cheers buddy I also live in SoCal now if you ever want to hang out shoot me a message! PS. I made most of Timbers stickers for a number of years 😉
As "The Family Man" in this movie, I hope that it will inspire others to go to their local blood bank and donate either platelets (as I do) or blood to help safe the life of someone you will never know. I am so lucky to know Jan and Jose who made this movie as well as the others who are part of this documentary that explains the love we all have for each other and for Subaru cars and the Subaru community.
I have a rare blood type so, I donate often. They actually contact me and ask meet to come in when they start running low. As for the documentary, I didn't realize that Subarus had such a cult following. At work, I see hundreds of Subarus every day. I never really think about the fact that each one will be going to a person who will LOVE it for years to come
John Mccalister I applaud your helping out so many with a rare blood type. I'm A- which is somewhat rare. When I got my WRX I was so surprised to get the peace sign flashed to me. But it is the way for the owners to acknowledge their love of this car I feel like I am part of a big family
Stephen Mirkin It kinda freaked me out too. I got mine through our employee lease program and my wife and I drove it from Indiana to California and back. I really only got the deuces in California but, that was the only place nice enough to drive with the windows down
I have not been outside of California with my WRX, but assume they would give you the same "peace sign" when they encounter your Subie. But, WRX's are sold the most in California.
Stephen Mirkin Well, as you can probably imagine, all models of Subaru are quite common in Lafayette Indiana. They almost seem to grow on trees here just because of SIA and the sheer number of people who work there. I don't see any peace signs here because so many people have them. It isn't so much an exclusive club like everywhere else
Never thought I'd be giving a heartfelt thank you to a dog I've never met. Thank you to Jan, Sofe and everyone who helped make this documentary whole and a reality. This was phenomenal!
Thanks for sending me the link to this Jan. I thought it was odd some dude pointing a camera at me as I drove past and smiling, but big props to you guys for this video. Really well done, and caught the community vibe spot on.
Just became a Subaru owner for the first time. Back in 04 as a freshman in high school I’ve always dreamed of owning this. Now being 35 years young I finally bought my first 2021 STI. Amazing documentary
Wow! you guys did an amazing job! this film really grabs your emotions and keeps you engaged the whole time! Already one of my favorite documentaries, and very inspiring!
This is a beautiful video! Not just the Subarus, but the humanistic stories are just inspiring. Plus, your story about Sofi really touches me. As a dog person and a Subaru guy, I can relate to you 100%. Massive respect or you and your work! Absolutely Fine Documentary! GO SUBARU!!!
First time Subaru owner here ('04 Forester XT) and father of an Argentinian Mastiff Pitbull Mix. My Bella is the absolute love of my life and she also LOVES my car! My buddy showed me this documentary and it's one of, if not the best, documentaries on UA-cam. The ending made me cry because my dog is literally the love of my life and the only thing I need to make me happy! Thank you for this and your inspiring message.
Awesome movie!!... You guys did absolutely grand. Thanks for all the emotions. I am extremely enlightened and thankful to be part of the SubiFam. Sophie will always be.
Very heartfelt finale! I too lost my dog from kidney cancer, it's a very painful and devastating event in life that I wouldn't wish on anyone. It's such a major inspiration to see Jan turn this into something positive that a whole community can benefit from.
I hope this film can be a starting point to bring light to the car community and touch the lives of everyone else who aren't in the car community. I am sorry to hear the news. Life is so precious and we see death until it is us one day. Live life! Sending you and your best friend positive energy.
Amazing documentary, thank you so much for finding, making and sharing these stories!! Car culture brings together an amazing group of people and I'm so happy to be a part of this worldwide family. Peace!
I definitely cried at the end, as a lover of dogs and of Subarus. I can relate to how our canine friends help us cope through some really rough stuff. It is pure love from our dog friends to us; it is unconditional and steadfast.
ALNSM OVERLAND Cheers from Switzerland! On the way back from Normandie,I met on a lone reststop south of Paris the exact same s-turbo as I had (snif) and a memorable conversation ensued at 4 in the morning with a lovely couple. And thanks for the documentary! Well made!
Hi Steve, thanks for bring that to our attention. We apologize for that. The special case is was a reference to AWD and we tried to cut it with what we had. Sorry if this has caused any misrepresentation.
Starting 2020 cutting onions. As someone that works at a Subaru dealership and its on his second Subaru. This was a beautiful documentary. My first Subaru (04 WRX) brought me into car culture. Within the first month someone drove by and wave at me. That's when i realize i was now part of an awesome family. Thanks for sharing all this beautiful stories and sharing the love for Subaru's.
Thank you for all the hard work. This was awesome. I was looking forward to seeing this doc and finally had a chance to today. It's been the highlight of my day
Thank you very very much for such a wonderful documentary. Love every part of it and even shed a tear at the end. Great job my friend. -Regards from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Excellent documentary! Didn't even know this existed! I just got by subie back after a year of modding and upgrades...This video hits me right in the feels HARD!
This was beautifully made. It says so much about the culture that you made this documentary even through tough times. Its a story worth telling and might seem redundant to those in the Subaru family, but definitely eye-opening to outsiders and newcomers. Also, thank you for not putting ads every 5 minutes to make revenue. I'll be looking into the merch and support as best I can.
LOL, I dont think we even thought about that. But heck ya, we're not about ads ourselves. Speaking about that I think there is one ad now that wasn't in our control.
Thank you so much for sharing you're pain about Sofi💙❤🏴, its broke my heart to hear of such an, unfair loss of life. As a 11yr veteran of being an STi world family member, I thank you from the heart for creating and expressing to the world, that being a Subaru owner is far more than an automobile....#subarulife, #staysafe🙏
Awesome job guys! Probably the best representation of the Subaru and car lifestyle on film! Makes me even happier with my choice of car. I know Sophie's still watching over.
As soon as I saw Engineering Explained, I knew this was going to be a banger of a documentary. Owned my '13 STI since 2016. The previous owner was an late 50's gentleman who got out of the seat of my car and into the seat of a brand new 2017 STI. We're still in touch, and he sends me a Christmas card every year. Everyone needs something or someone that makes them turn around and do a double-take every day. I've found that in my Subie, and I can only hope that others find something as precious to themselves as well.
Hey David! Thanks for sharing your story. It is very similar to mine too! I got the 07 STI from a single owner, older gentleman, and bone stock. We're also in touch. Just last week he mailed me the spare valet key. LOL. Hope all is well on your end.
Wow what an amazing production!!! I live all the way in Trinidad (Caribbean) and have been selling Subaru’s for the last 15 years. I eat sleep, breath and even dream about the Subaru brand and completely endorse everything it stands for! I also have two dogs, they may be Cocker Spaniels but one’s name is also Sophie and the other Skyler so of course I got really emotional towards the end myself! To everyone who contributed to this film, the equivalent of the Medal of Honor should be bestowed onto you!!! I forwarded this to EVERY ONE OF MY SUBARU CUSTOMERS and family and friends in Trinidad and Tobago after seeing it and I’m sure they would also be touched by this film! I’m so happy to share the LOVE...keep up the amazing work and I’m certain that many blessings and smiles will follow!
Respect from Germany for that work. A very interesting view into Americas Subi Family. I feel familar with lots of things you say and I also love this feeling of meeting a brother when you coincidentally meet a STi-driver you didn't knew before. Subaru is Love.
Hello Germany!! Thanks for reaching out. It's great that you have similar feelings with lots of the things in the film. I think this is because we share what LOVE is. It doesn't matter where we live or what language we speak, LOVE is universal. Please spread the love in Germany for us. We hope to visit in the future! Keep in touch.
The love and passion you have for Subie culture is embodied in this film. I know you must have put many hours wholeheartedly into this project and the end result is a very well put together piece on something that we share the same passion for. I’m even more proud to be an STi owner after watching this. It truly deserves more attention. Sorry about your dog btw, that ending just broke my heart honestly!. I have a lab that we are very close with who’s getting up there in age. He’s always loved riding in the car. When I first got my STi I was reluctant to let him inside bc labs shed so much, but I finally went a found a nice protective cover and I’m always a sucker for him so he seems to go everywhere with me again....
I loved this. I don't own a Subaru but have in the past. I would say for the Director that he should have said what he did about Sofi in the beginning and then showed her throughout the film and then dropped the bomb about 9/10ths of the way through and then finished off on a positive note. I am sitting here with something in my eye.....I'm not crying you're crying!!!
Love the feedback, this is the second time we've heard this. The documentary was shot organically and the director Jan's story just came about towards the last half of the film. Sofi wasn't with us anymore during the packing gear scene was shot and where trying to bridge a time gap. Great, great feedback though. HAHA let it out, it's okay to show our feelings. Thank you and talk soon.
Thank you so much for this video! I really Appreciated it and am so glad I came upon and watched this. It was amazing! Thank you Jan and team, heartfelt sadness for Sofi.
I really enjoyed this film. Thank you for the hard work and dedication it took to create it. Makes me appreciate the Subaru brand a lot more. And my condolences for Sofi.
Great documentary, really enjoyed it! Its true when you get your first Suby you're never going to want anything else; it connects with you on such a personal/individual level. You become part of a community that exists anywhere you go.
If you have not owned a Subaru or lost a good dog - one can not explain either .Great video and well worth watching .Owning Impreza 1996 and now Legacy 2000 it is something one needs to ponder over and feel the family of the Pegasus star arrangement - even my two sons gives me heads up when other Subaru's are around on the road .The ending was very sad - training german shepherds myself I know the attachment and feel the pain .RIP Sophi
Thank you bradlington kirsten1 for taking the time to watch the film and sharing a little bit about yourself. It is definitely something special. I hope all is well during this time with the family, dogs, and cars.
Awesome documentary guys, thanks for recognizing the Subaru community so well. Sorry for your loss, keep up the awesome work. 🤙🏼 aloha from the island boy in Utah #subilife
Can't help but love this. It's an absolute good. This is what a documentary should be about. Love, togetherness, bonding, building, family, expanding..😎👍🏾
This documentary changed a lot of things. The world was able to formally recognise how beautiful and globe stretching the Subaru Community really is! Epic.
Im a subaru fan
I have learnt alot from the video.
Share this with the world people. It takes a lot of hard work, blood, sweat and tears to make something like this happen.
I appreciate the kind words and support my dude. It definitely took a lot of passion.

This documentary has honestly changed my life. Single handedly one of the best documentaries I have ever watched.
Can’t believe I just came across this. A quality production that deserves so much more support and views
I own an evo but it didn’t stop me from appreciating this film and respecting the subie culture.
Mad love to Evos. Tell the Evo community to fast forward to 14:25 =P
Juan Camacho Yeah bro its a rivalry for sure but not a hate driven one.
A few took it over the line. Both cars should be respected for even being produced in the first place.
Same //evo x
The evo it self has been a part of the subbie culture since day 1. Old sti's have something the new ones will never have, a friendly rival...

Wonderful! Thank you for making this documentary!
'all of our cars have a boxer engine ... everything except for BRZ' - what?
No turbo.
No AWD.
Still has a boxer, last I checked...
Steve H Probably a bad edit. Probably said all our cars are awd except brz.
Steve H x. BRZ. Actually stands for....wait for it....Boxer Rear Zenith lol
yea i caught that too. bad edit. probably said all of our cars have boxer engine and all wheel drive except brz since he goes to talk about awd.
Hi Steve, thanks for bring that to our attention. We apologize for that. The special case is was a reference to AWD and we tried to cut it with what we had. Sorry if this has caused any misrepresentation.
Way to own up. That was the only flaw I saw in the edit! Nice work!
what a documentary about how diverse the Subaru community is and how what we do and how we do things brings us all together. love it
Ok who was cutting the onions at the ending about Sofi? Ok I’m not going to lie, that was a touching end. Loved this Doc.
Seriously one of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen. You were able to bring out all of my emotions. Great job!!

When I first got my STi I was reluctant to let him inside bc labs shed so much, but I finally went a found a nice protective cover and I’m always a sucker for him so he seems to go everywhere with me again....
Great job Jan. Amazing work and great times. See you when you're back in NY. No tickets this time!
Haha yes no more tickets next time. That was epic though!
Really enjoyed the film, thank you for taking the time and effort to make it!
One word describes this video best..... beautiful
Beautiful!!!. Proud to see extended Subie family. MTNROO!! 👍🏾👍🏾
Absolutely the best thing I’ve ever watched
Honestly, speechless. Thank you so much for the love Zack.
You thought this was a Subaru documentary, but jokes on you it was actually about a dog.
Thank you so much for this video! I really Appreciated it and am so glad I came upon and watched this. It was amazing! Thank you Jan and team, heartfelt sadness for Sofi.
The exact thing we need in life will always present itself at the perfect moments. Much love my man.
You've inspired me to create a documentary as well now. But it's all on idealisation stages at the moment. Thank you again!
Touched my soul at the end as I had A similar story with my dog passing away ,good job on filming this documentary !
Sending good energy.
Sorry for your loss.

Had chills the entire time! Great film!!!
Great documentary, really enjoyed it! Its true when you get your first Suby you're never going to want anything else; it connects with you on such a personal/individual level. You become part of a community that exists anywhere you go.
Amazing documentary! 👌 RIP Sofi 🐶
Incredible work, all dogs go to heaven
Rallycross is basically Supermoto on 4 wheels and I love it for that reason.
