Really good arrangement. I looked at so many websites before finding this and almost felt sick to my stomach that people were destroying this beautiful sing by playing it like that somewhere. Glad I didn't experience that. First video I have seen on this channel and definitely going to subscribe!!!

So grateful for this beautifully thought out and laid out walk through these tricky but tasty chords.

For that matter, you could begin with EVERYTHING on the 3rd fret. That is to say, low E, A, and D. Which ends you up with G-C-F- G open - B open. Then, to C maj. as usual. If I was in the key of E, that 3rd fret "G/C" thing you do, would go up to the 7th fret. A B/E chord, if you will.

Do you have a .pdf or chord chart for this arrangement? You explained all the chords so beautifully, but now that I want to drill it, having the chords on a single sheet would be really helpful. Thanks.

That is bautiful and so well explained. I do have one criticism however and I add it as I hope constuctive criticism. At times your guitar volume drowns out your voice making it difficult to understand you. And, I do want to hear you, I will be coming back for more.

What a great tutorial, thank you Ricky! I like that side note at 9:09 about the augmented chord fitting the lyric. I do have one question. Under "jam play," I recognize the chord breakdown that has the tan background, but I can't figure out the purpose of the chords with the black background. How do those chords fit in? Thanks again. I happily subscribed and look forward to watching more videos from the Tricky Chords series.

Hi Ben, thank you for your question. The black background chords are "synonyms" for the first suggested chord (tan background). In other words, another way to look at F/C (9:33 for example), is as an Am#5/C. This is not meant to confuse, only to show that sometimes complex (jazz) chords may be more easily thought of as being comprised of two parts, a top chord and a bass note. When broken down like this, these are known as slash chords (as in F/C, or Am/C = C6 for example). But I think your question suggests that this approach may confuse viewers - I've since discovered and use Guitar Pro v7 to show chord formations in my videos instead of JamPlay.

Frank Sinatra's version has one wrong chord in it. It sticks out a mile.
Bizarre, since it was arranged by the great Nelson Riddle.
In an interview, available on UA-cam, Stephen Sondheim himself highlights this fact.
