This trilogy is incredible, what I would give to play it again for the first time
I hope watching a first playthrough like this can give you a tiny bit of that feeling back!!
I always hate my first playthroughs since I'm trying to figure out stuff (including combat), or I discovered I missed something and the only way to get it is by going back to a certain point, or I learn I can get things a lot sooner and be ahead of things. This just recently happened with Hogwarts Legacy. My first playthrough was terrible. Well, I didn't do a full playthrough. I got a couple hours in and then decided to restart. But when I restarted, I was picking up on stuff easier/understanding the game better. And I had picked up on hints, tips, and tricks that I didn't know my first playthrough. So yeah. Usually my first playthrough or two of a game is a terrible, and I never want to re-live my first time playing the game. First time is always trial & error and not all that enjoyable. I remember my first couple playthroughs of Mass Effect 1 weren't that great. Making all kinds of mistakes. Plus I didn't realize how the dialogue options worked. And I missed a whole bunch of stuff. Luckily I had restarted the game enough times that I felt a little better when I completed the first time to create an import save for Mass Effect 2. But even then I was still catching on to stuff when I wanted to do another playthrough and do a different romance option or try another class. First playthroughs are always the worst for me.

Don't worry about spending time reading stuff int he game and exploring dialogue.
Most ME fans will be annoyed if you ignore and go fast. The lore and world building is incredible.
Take your time, Explore conversations, Read codex and other things you find.
It can be an enlightening experience, and always a source for you to give your own comments and feedback on!

This is very true, AxyzGrid. I began playing ME back in March and I'm going soooo slow through the game! If I was making a LP video I'm afraid I would've bored my audience!
Don't apologize about listening to all the optional dialogue. This is a bold statement but I think Mass Effect has some of the best, if not the best worldbuilding and lore in any video game. A lot of the optional dialogue in the entire trilogy is basically the heart that makes so many people love this series as much as they do. Tbh I'd personally be ecstatic if you also listen to the codex entries :)

And yeah, the worldbuilding is amazing. And Femshep's voice acting is incredible. (A lot of the voice acting is incredible!)

The dialogue wheel generally follows the same format throughout the series: Top is a more diplomatic responce, middle is a neutral response, bottom is a more aggressive response.
Also: Left is Learn more, Right is Respond to
Everyone who plays this series does so in their own special and unique way. It's fun to watch others in how they play the mechanics and the choices made. It's all about you, your play style, your choices. It's not about viewers and what they want to see. Have fun with the whole series ME1-3 and even Andromeda. Hope you find it as fun and immersive as so many fans already have, enjoy.

I wouldn't suggest Andromeda as it's more of a insult to the series lol.
@@RiotforPeacePlz Hard disagree, Andromeda is good in it's own right (now that most of the bugs are fixed). It IS very different to the trilogy though, so I can definitely understand why some people enjoy it less.

Yeah ME2 and 3 are 2 of my favourite games. ME1 is still good but it is a bit clunky compared with the others. I tend t olet it off the hook thou hbecaus edespite i tbeing clunky it was Bioware' s firs tattempt at trying to make an Action RPG back when it first came out
Nice first episode. I'm always curious to see blind playthroughs of my fave game series and it's nice to see someone who appreciates the lore and world building. I also really like that you not only try to talk to most people, but actually pay attention to what they are saying- it cannot be stressed enough how important this is to the game experience and I hope you continue in this vein. It's great you have moderators because people WILL put spoilers in comments.

Yes, it always amazes me how people manage to completely miss a giant kilometers high ship taking off with a deafening roar accompanied by incredulous exclamations from your teammates. =)
Haha I think there's a good reason why! There are so many things happening all at once, you are getting attacked and something awful and shocking just happened, you're still processing that. It's just normal. Easy to say this when you've played before/watch multiple other playthroughs, but when it's your first time, the game did not make it easy for you in my opinion.
In any case, it really does not matter in the end, we already see the ship in the video from Eden Prime before, and see it later!
Great choice with the Engineer class - there are benefits to it in the later games.
While you might feel like "playing it safe" with neutral responses (center right on the dialog wheel), there are no benefits. The upper/lower responses grant Paragon/Renegade points, which open more ranks in Charm/Intimidate skills, which grant access to the blue/red dialog options. Using the blue/red options gives larger boosts to your Paragon/Renegade points.

I was never much of an rpg fan before this game. My best friend bought it because he was a huge KOTOR fan, so I watched him start it up. By the time you get to the Citadel, he had handed me the controller (just didn't hit with him for whatever reason), and a couple hours later, I bought it off him. Pre-ordered both sequels and their guides, and it became my favorite trilogy of all time (and unless bioware nails their DA presentation, it'll probably stay a trilogy). The lore and world-building blew my narrow mind
I just started playing Mass Effect (classic) a couple months ago. I've already played through several times with different classes, specialties, and personalities. It's wonderfully immersive! It's fun watching someone else start it, even though I'm a relative newcomer myself. It's fun to notice the differences between classic/Legendary, as well as PC/console. The combat and ability system is super complex. I love the combination of real-time and freeze time. I feel like it's taken me several playthroughs (and therefore using all abilities and weapons at various points) to get the hang of it. Not only do you have your own weapons and abilities to think about, but you can also heavily strategize using your squadmates. Looking forward to your upcoming adventures on the Citadel in the next episode!

I have only one tip - ignore the people trying to give you tips about which choices to make. Mass Effect streams are notorious for attracting commenters who try to steer the player toward the "ideal" or "best" version of the story, and they complain mightily if you do missions in an order other than their preferred sequence or otherwise diverge from what they consider the "right" way to experience the game.
I've played the trilogy more than 15 times (and the first game more than 20), so believe me when i tell you, there is no "best" story and no "right" way to play. This trilogy is *meant* to be explored and replayed, and over the first three or four plays you'll learn how everything works and you'll decide on *your* preferred version of the story. Don't let anyone else impose their favorite choices on you; keep an open mind, play your way, and figure things out on your own terms and at your own pace.
Basically, anyone who says there are "right" choices in the story is misguided. If the game allows you to make a choice, it *can't* be wrong, it's just a *choice.* Your Shepard is *your* Shepard.

Seeing first time player experiencing it, speaking about choices, it's all one would want from the blind playthrough. Yeah, pretty sure people will go into debates about choices and certain characters, they always tend to, and it's cool, imo, and yeah, the game could be heart-breaking at times depending on your choices, but generally, community around the game is nice to first time players and to each other and don't get angry about choices, mostly, at least if one doesn't rush the game too much and gets invested in the lore and the "crew". Love seeing a first playthrough. My gamer friends told me I really ought to play Mass Effect and I got into it and love it. So much replay-ability. I recently started this back in the fall for the first time I always saw my fellow Marines playing this in the barracks back in 2011 but for some reason never got into it. But I'll tell you my Marines were right I was missing out this entire trilogy is amazing to play through even multiple times.

Go through all the dialogue you can. Not only does it give you the lore and a lot of insight, but many conversations also give you XP.
That's perfect because that's what I've been doing! I also notice it gives Codex entries right?

no way you started this game! i’ve watched a lot of your Hogwarts Legacy videos and i adored how deep you got into it, i can’t wait to see you do the same here. if you love Harry Potter’s lore and how deep it goes, you’re going to fall in love with this entire trilogy and the universe. don’t be afraid to exhaust all possible dialogue options and get as much info as possible or get lost reading the codexes, the lore on this franchise is intense but so good !!

Choices in this game can effect events in all 3 games, so yes your decisions matter immensely. Conversations are also very important, make sure to check for new dialogue with squad mates and crew after every main mission. (When available of course)

Welcome to the mass effect universe you will enjoy this trilogy as much as we have. A few tips all your choices have consequences also you can be the good cop or the bad cop in this game. Good cop options are at the top bad cop options are at the bottom. You can choose either depending on your playstyle also when talking to people it is recommended to ask questions so that you can understand the lore and story. One more thing In between missions always chat with your crewmates to get to know them. Really hope you enjoy this trilogy and grow to love it as much as we do. 😊
