    Finally, the Lotus brand seems to have gotten it right with their lineup of beautiful cars; only to throw it all away for the sake of electrification. This will be the eventual downfall of Lotus, once and for all.
    Leave the EV market to Tesla and carry on building the cars people want - those you charge with a petrol nozzle.

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  7 місяців тому +1

      Yeah. Overall, I have to agree. Lotus should have remained a builder of amazing engaging sports car and only perhaps gone as far as a hybrid motor. China makes the electric stuff.
      Alas, business is business and time will tell if putting all eggs into the EV basket will break them.

    Bit of a mad question but what is the economy like on the Emira? DO you think the DCT car will be a lot better on gas?

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  7 місяців тому +1

      it is not good and not bad.
      Given the other cars I own it is very good!
      I'd say 18MPG in the real world with a lot of spirited driving.
      Low 20s is likely achievable with a lighter right foot.
      The DCT engine is smaller, lighter and has a turbo so I would expect to see economy gains of about 5mpg.

  • @samshawn4887

    Glad to hear the car is continuing to improve. Have you not had any of the issues experienced by some?

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  7 місяців тому +1

      I didn't have the seatbelt issue, the wiper issue and its never gone into limp mode or missed a beat.
      Not saying it is perfect but fundamentally the car has been a superb ownership experience thus far.

    Any wear at all on the Alcantara areas, especially the steering wheel?

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  7 місяців тому

      None at all. Early days really.
      Alcantara is a fabulous man-made material tyat has been at the top end of car interiors for decades.
      Leather tends to sag and is more slippery.
      I'd go for Alcantara in all sports cars and leave leather to luxury vehicles, where it is indeed lovely.

    I'm 6 months in and 2600 miles, so almost exactly 1/2 way along the same journey. I agree with everything you've said, the only thing I disagree with is the colour, I really love my Magma and won't be changing it, but colour is always down to individual taste so that's fine. Great video and great car.

      I still cannot think of any other car out there that competes with it.
      A Macca 570 has no manual and costs crap loads more to run.

      @RevMonkey It's funny I got collared in a car park the other day by a chap who wanted to know about the car. He said he'd seen a pro boxer (Connor Benn I think) the week before in London getting into his Mclaren and it wasn't a patch on the Emira looks wise!
      I think part of a car getting better is that you just get more used to it and more confident driving it. I haven't tracked it and probably won't. I have a GT86 that I would be more likely to track but either way too busy with work for the foreseeable future, I'm afraid!

    £500~ is great only thing to worry about is the potential charges for when things go wrong, but that's what warranty is for.

    Great to see someone enjoying owning the Emira. I considered buying one but after all I read online, I decided to get a Jaguar F-type V6 manual instead last Christmas. I'm just as excited about it as you are 😊

      @RevMonkey  3 місяці тому +1

      I love the F-Type. Always turns my head and I was 100% either going to get the V6 S or the V8 likely in SVR guide. I believe it was the best looking car until the Emira came out.
      I had to get a Larini exhaust mind to match the aural impact of the Jaguar but does not pop in the same way.
      Other than that, very different cars in the way they put power down, the Jag being more GT, more comfy and less raw which clearly and deservedly suits more people in the real world, especially if it an only car and daily.

      @@RevMonkey thanks for replying. I'm very happy with the almost immediate power delivery of the V6. I daily mine on A and B roads around West/South Yorkshire where I'm based. The manual transmission (only 200 were built for the UK market) makes it all more entertaining. I'd be happy for you to feature it in a comparison video if you fancy a trip up north. We have some of the best scenery roads around here. I've just detailed it so it's arguably the best it's ever looked. Search for Caldera Red Manual V6 on the F-type UK forum and you'll find it easily.

    Yeah I bought one, it was in the garage for 2 months and when returned it had issues with a fans and windows so I sold it and bought a porsche 718 4L, its a much better car and much better put together. I really wanted the lotus to be awesome but its more the cosmetic outside than the build quality of the car.

      Interesting. Like the delay on news built originally the Emira does not seem to like sitting still. I drive mine daily and have no issues ever.
      Paint.. well, I PPFd it but it looked fine to me originally.
      Shame your experience was poor. The car is amazing and gets so much better with age, maturing process that the Porsche won't match but I agree it is better out of the box!
      If you are near surrey and want to flavour a really sorted Emira with a Larini exhaust then pop over.
      Then again, as good as the 718 is, you will have nightmares of regret 😛
      Nah, you can't go wrong with a Porsche. I have one too! Undeniably better built.
      Better car? Generally speaking, yes. Better experience? No chance, well, not in one that works! 😆.
      I need to drive one back top back myself to really know which one feels faster on the road, or just feels better.
