Do you realize that this show is changing the history of North America. Every time they document a find that goes back to before before documented history. The treasure of Oak Island is the history that is being uncovered. I think it is past time that North America grew up and begin learning our own history. Archeology is a treasure finder of everyday life of the long forgotten past. Grow up and enjoy the ox shoes, the painted pottery, the road they are all treasures.

Well said! This Reality TV show/saga is no longer a "treasure hunt" per se, except for what is "scattered" at the bottom of the Money Pit submerged in the underground cavern(s) which are currently inaccessible until they are able to commence the "Big dig" with state-of-the-art engineering, water-sealant technology and the shoring up of the drained cavern(s) to make excavation/retrieval safe. What the Oak Island saga has become is a painstaking forensic examination/analysis by archaeologists, geoscientists, marine biologists and even geophysicists to attempt to determine the "who", "when", "why", "exactly where" and, above all, "what" was so special about one small island that was among 360 other islands in Mahone Bay. There was clearly something very special about Oak Island to warrant so many visits and incursions by different peoples over the past two millennium... or even longer!

Amazing! I have learned more from your archaeological “finds“ in your show, than by reading and studying in school. Your show’s material could be used to study archeology. The show has a lot of material to learn and teach from.

    • @Chelah45
      @Chelah45 3 роки тому

Exactly, Vilma. Most of the time we see archeological "finds" only AFTER the "find" is "found". TV viewers have become spoiled brats ... needing the instant gratification of a final answer, rather than seeing how difficult and lengthy the actual SEARCH has taken, and the expense and PHYSICAL DISCOMFORT of doing so much of it. I'm glad to be able to sit on my cozy couch and weekly watch the Laginas get WET, COLD, DIRTY, EXCITED, HOPEFUL, DISAPPOINTED, and sometimes (sadly) feeling like they're back to square one, or square ten, but a long way from the "FINAL SQUARE". Everyone has a nitch or two. A whole lot of what we learned in school was a waste of time, except in possibly tickling a student's own interest in the subject.

Corning Inc could have those ceramic pieces analyzed and give members of the team greater insight into all the pottery that they have dug up over the years. The Corning Museum of Glass IS open. I highly recommend visiting them, their ancient pottery and ceramic exhibit is second to none and their Fire and Ice presentation is awesome too. I'm sure if the team gives Corning enough heads-up Corning would be far more personal and accommodating.

*Merchant ships. The "treasure" is usually thought of as gold and silver, but when you're raiding cargo ships, you get ALL KINDS of rare items. Import and Export from far off places, maybe even China? Who knows. HAND PAINTED might mean a luxury or rare item that appears to have fallen off and broken during transport, that ceramic could give a clue as to the origin (ship) of the treasure, and/or the country it came from. Even if it doesn't the DATE of that item is a major clue.*

This isn't a made-up story, with made-up answers to make you happy. It is in essence a SEARCH for historical evidence that will end up telling a story ( or several stories). Like ANY archeological search, if every weekly "show" ended up with a huge "find", you should question how honest the "show" is. That you are bored with the search, is nothing more than your own preference to always have a "show" end with a BANG (so to speak). Don't be falsely calling these "cliff hangers", as if they are SCRIPTED. In my opinion, they've come up with many answers that my hubby and I have been delighted to learn about. If you don't want to be involved in the down-and-dirty part of SEARCHING, just stop watching. But those of us who continue watching the series are for the most part delighted that simply WATCHING the series gives the searchers two specific things: encouragement to continue (while we personally sit, all warm, dry and cozy, in our chairs and just WATCH) ... and enough money (through our watching, and the sponsors therefore continuing to help pay for) ... continuing the search. The SEARCH is for KNOWLEDGE. And we definitely know more today, about Oak Island's past.

Why should three pieces of broken crockery be "Stunning"? This is one of the very few finds which have not come from the metal detectorist Gary Drayton. Indeed if it had not been for the steady stream of nails and spikes, this whole series would have died years ago. When Gary first found one of these spikes, he thought it was the end off a Roman spear Pilum. Then he thought it was a crossbow bolt used by the Knights Templar!! Now, he just says 'Decking Spike' talking knowledgeably of course.

This episode Aaron and Merriam make a jaw dropping discovery while excavating near the stone road. Three pieces of colored pottery.😲 Not only that but now the road is heading in another direction. Where will it lead our intrepid treasure hunters next week? Will they find more of the broken pottery to glue together a teacup? And is there a buried tea service somewhere nearby waiting to be dug up and used. Stay tuned for next time.
This episode was brought to you by NesTea. The tea that goes great with any broken or buried pottery.

Where does the 'Curse' in the curse of Oak Island come from? Does anyone know? Just because 6 men have died trying to find the treasure does not mean that a seventh man has also to die in the process. I have never heard this explained.

@@notyaavridge2660 Have you heard the directions? This will take a bit. And I’ll fill in some info as we go. 😁
      Don’t tell anybody. 😉
The words used are important, I’ll highlight them with “ “.
Dig to 40 ft. “Burrow” at 45 degrees.
That also means burrow at 45 degrees down, not just the direction on the surface like Zena’s map.
To a Templar, “burrowing” is what rabbits do. All dirt work. Like a day off.
Now the math comes in with the reason they start at 40ft down.
The bedrock in that area is at 200 ft. By our geologic standards, the gypsum and limestone there is considered “soft rock”.
In the 1100’s the Templars dug a tunnel under the city of Acre that they could March an army through.
Tunnelling through rock, 200 years later wouldn’t even make them blink.
When they fled from Spain, they left with 12-15 ships that were never seen at any European or English port ever again. Those ships can carry 400 men, or 200 loaded with supplies. That means they could have had at least a 3000 man workforce, including slaves. (I’m being generous with my numbers here, and not including the possible “slaves” brought from Central America where they brought the coconut fibres from).
      And decades unobserved.
Removing dirt and rock is much much easier dragging it from a 45 degree angle than lifting it straight up. Hence the oxen.
Now, when they hit the bedrock, “the shaft” of 522ft, continuing at 45 degrees takes them to exactly where Erin told them they should be digging.
Except she said when they asked, she didn’t know how deep.
From there, the 1000 ft “corridor”, (I forget the exact distance she said, but the circle hit the bottom rock of Nolan’s Cross), where she says the “chamber” is, but advised not to dig directly there because of more boobytraps.
Now, some think Oak island was originally 2 islands and the swamp is man made.
If you were going to reach the bottom rock of the Cross, on the other island, you are not going have a “corridor” through dirt and clay.
It would have to be through bedrock to get to the other island.
The entrance to “the shaft” is 48 metres, 160ft from the money pit, 200 ft down to the bedrock.
If they don’t find that, they won’t get to the 1000 ft “corridor”.
If you like that, I have other details as well.
      🤔🤪🤔🤪🤔🤪🤔🤪

It is amazing how they try to create excitement over every single piece of junk. The fact is there is no money pit on that Island. That was proven years ago.
