What a great musician and really nice guy! Happened to see him in a small bar in Austin, Tx several years ago. I approached him and told him about a guitar club I was running at the high school I was teaching in at the time and how I had introduced the kids to his music. He was so nice and humble about the whole thing and very appreciative of me introducing his music to these young people.
Been a fan of his since I watched Austin City Limits. It was the Alabama Shakes episode. Watched it for them and saw Gary and fell in love. He's brilliant.
Black people code for Americans it's ok to discriminate against and use defamation to describe - all humans are African - the most recent common ancestor of all living humans - including your mother ua-cam.com/video/CJdT6QcSbQ0/v-deo.html
I believe that this album is simply amazing. This Land was Gary exploring his musical roots, while this one shows almost a new genre of music, born from all his past influences. Amazing artist!
Wow. I saw little Stevie Wonder iin Rome in early 1960's , He brought his own piano by ship and rolled it onto the stage.ua-cam.com/video/x_ZeDn-hHGE/v-deo.html
Love your song “Habits” Gary. It’s great to hear that you said it’s about your life’s struggles. When I heard the song it reminded me of my life’s struggles. I cant wait to see it live.
I love Gary Clark Jr, he introduced me to so many great contemporary blues musicians like Samantha Fish, Kingfish, Eric Gales, Larkin Poe and Ally Venable. The Blues is Eternal, everybody knows what it's like to feel the blues.
I got to meet him in ATX. He took his beautiful wife out to dinner and I was lucky to serve them a pineapple upside down cake. Love his music and his soul 💕 Wish the pandemic hadn't taken away the chance to see him open for the Black Keys. I've got that ticket framed ✨
Awesome man and awesome musician 🙏 Been a fan of his ever since I stumbled across his album with "Bright Lights" and "When My Train Pulls In" on it, glad to see hes still going strong 💪💪💯💯 Looking forward to this!
@davidharding200 What? I watched the performance and thought it was great, I like his more chill and deep songs too like "The Life" which I feel is more in line with, along with his hard blues rock songs.
I've been a fan since he was featured in Guitar World. At the time, Guitar World pushed the idea that the Blues were dying and he was its saviour, but I'm glad he broke through that narrative.
Yeah I hate whenever the music world tries to make one artist the face of a movement or a generation... like look how much that burdened Kurt Cobain. There are plenty of modern blues bands out there on the road and recording new music. I hate when people only give one artist in a genre all the flowers. There are plenty of great new blues artists out there that deserve some spotlight. Gary is so humble and great.
back when Chris Stapleton was on his rise I started getting into blues even more than I was before ( I'm a guitar player so blues comes with the territory) and a friend showed me Gary at a party I was throwing and man, loved him ever since, was like 2015.
Everyone might think Stevie wonder is older than he is cause he’s been on the scene since he was a super young kid! Stevie wonder is like if Mozart had a full-aged life
This reminds me a little bit of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry has a man crush on Keith Hernandez. Jon Stewart's appreciation of Gary Clark Jr here is really great.
Yeah Gary Jr., myself, Emmett Collins Jr 🎷🎷🎷🎹and Steveland Morris 🎹🎤are born nine months apart. We're of an Era in Music and Musicians where we wrote directly from "The Soul"! That's when Black Soul Music came of Age in the 20th Century and it's offspring was Rap Music and that Era was born because the predominantly White controlled Music Industry in America literally took the Instrumental Music Programs out of Black Public Schools of America in the early 1980's to try and stop our Power of GREAT CREATIVE MUSIC! We are and will always be THE BEST OF THE WORLD! THAT'S AN UNDENIABLE GIVEN! 💝💖💡🎥🎬💯
Does anyone know if the music played to introduce GCjr is music by GCjr, and if so, what song is it? Or is that just the Daily Show band doing a guitar riff? I really like it
Have any of you actually listened to his music? Nothing says you’re the savior of the blues like saying you are on national TV. There are so many better blues musicians out there … 😢
John Stewart once overvalued his own New York home by more than $16 million. In 2014, the comedian reportedly sold his 6,280-square-foot Tribeca duplex to financier Parag Pande for $17.5 million. But, according to 2013-2014 assessor records obtained by The Post, the property had the estimated market value of only $1.882 million. The actual assessor valuation for property tax purposes was $847,174. Records also show that Stewart paid property taxes based on that assessor valuation price - in other words, what he accused Trump of doing.
It looks like Stevie Wonder wanted to do a "We are the world. We are the children" again... From America against starvation to America cautioning starvation.
Great to see John promoting real artists on the show! Gary has been on my playlist for years and he deserves all the attention!

I thought I was one of the few fans of Gary’s music. So happy to see so many others love his music. He’s brilliant.
COSMIC
nah. he's huge. I feel like everyone I talk to likes Gary Clark Jr
Been a fan of his since I watched Austin City Limits. It was the Alabama Shakes episode. Watched it for them and saw Gary and fell in love. He's brilliant.
Such an incredible musician

Finally, a down to earth recommendation. Love you, Stewart.
I believe that this album is simply amazing. This Land was Gary exploring his musical roots, while this one shows almost a new genre of music, born from all his past influences. Amazing artist!
Okay… I commented above similarly, differently.
"Steve Wonder facetimed me"
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Uh huh…🤨😒😂
Gary is awesome. I have my tickets to see him at Radio City Music Hall in NYC June 11th.
Wow.
I saw little Stevie Wonder iin Rome in early 1960's , He brought his own piano by ship and rolled it onto the stage.ua-cam.com/video/x_ZeDn-hHGE/v-deo.html
That’s pretty cool. 👍🏻
Love your song “Habits” Gary. It’s great to hear that you said it’s about your life’s struggles. When I heard the song it reminded me of my life’s struggles. I cant wait to see it live.
Thanks for your comment, brought me a song I needed
@@isaiahhansen9566 the whole album is great. Check out his other albums.
I love Gary Clark Jr, he introduced me to so many great contemporary blues musicians like Samantha Fish, Kingfish, Eric Gales, Larkin Poe and Ally Venable. The Blues is Eternal, everybody knows what it's like to feel the blues.
I introduced my husband to Gary Clark and he, in turn, introduced me to Kingfish. We have seen them both in concert and they are amazing.
Gary Clark Jr actually introduced me to Jimi Hendrix
@@kasper7250 Wow... That makes me feel OLD! My parents were hippies, so I grew up on Jimi Hendrix!
Have always loved Gary's music!!! So glad to hear he has a new album. I'll pass the word.
It was a serious experience sitting side stage at Floydfest with Gary Clark Jr on stage. He is amazing!
Gary Clark Jr is an American treasure.....
Nice! Its Great to see Gary Clark Jr. back with new stuff.
I saw Gary last year in Sandpoint ID... It was a highlight of my whole entire life! I have a life long crush on both of you! I'm melting.
I saw Gary at the Continental Club when he was a kid. It was obvious then that this guy had something special.
I saw him in SF tonight, absolutely amazing. Thanks John for introducing great musicians on this show.
That's so cool!!!!!
Working with Stevie Wonder?! George Clinton?! Otherworldly epic!
Awesome man and awesome musician 🙏 Been a fan of his ever since I stumbled across his album with "Bright Lights" and "When My Train Pulls In" on it, glad to see hes still going strong 💪💪💯💯 Looking forward to this!
You’re in for a shock I’m afraid. Like you I love ‘when my train pulls in’. There’s nothing like that here.
@davidharding200 What? I watched the performance and thought it was great, I like his more chill and deep songs too like "The Life" which I feel is more in line with, along with his hard blues rock songs.
did not know him but sounds very genuine hoping his music sounds the same. thx Jon I'll look Gary up.
*_🎶❤️🔥Love the way he treats his guitar 🎸🎶_*
What an awesome musician
That walk out shot of Gary Clark!!
I love the new camera style! The director is using the camera operators so well this season!
I've been a fan since he was featured in Guitar World. At the time, Guitar World pushed the idea that the Blues were dying and he was its saviour, but I'm glad he broke through that narrative.

❤❤Gary is Ssssooooo talented, I think he reminds me of music 🎶🎵 from Back in The Day! HE kills ❤❤❤❤❤
I just have to say the sparkle in Gary's eyes is unbelievable.
Awesome to have Gary on the show. Amazing musician.
I love this interview!❤❤❤
Clark is a true artist. Super incredible.
One of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard!
back when Chris Stapleton was on his rise I started getting into blues even more than I was before ( I'm a guitar player so blues comes with the territory) and a friend showed me Gary at a party I was throwing and man, loved him ever since, was like 2015.
I saw Gary Clark Jr. open for Eric Clapton at Madison Square Garden in 2018 and love him ever since. He's amazing.
One of the best modern Bluesmen
Everyone might think Stevie wonder is older than he is cause he’s been on the scene since he was a super young kid! Stevie wonder is like if Mozart had a full-aged life
Seeing Jon fanboying is the sweetest thing ever.
The whole album truly is eclectic.
Love ya Jon!!! Gr8! Peace ☮💜
❤❤❤Gary🎼🎵🎶
This reminds me a little bit of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry has a man crush on Keith Hernandez. Jon Stewart's appreciation of Gary Clark Jr here is really great.
Love gary clark jr.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
never heard of him,
guess I'm going to learn something today
love a new music rec
Great interview
Stevie Wonder is only 73
Only 73. I love you. I'll be 70 in a few weeks, and you just made me feel like maybe I still have time to be.
@@gailjordan9250 I'm a little younger, but I know that feeling. Horrible, this trend of dismissing people over 50

I heard him say that about Stevie’s age and I was like, wait a minute. He’s NOT in his 80s!! Gary, Gary, Garrry! Come on, now!
I remember doing the Time Warp!
JOHN STEWART FOR PRESIDENT
He's going to jail
He was criticized at the beginning of his career to do such a thing. So… back to his talent of showing us all he can do! ✨🙏🏽😍
I relate to the song as many do. ❤
Love him ❤️🫶🏾🖤
Two 'ol faithfuls / 'ol reliables come together
Got to hear Jon's band! 🎸🥁🎹🎸
Thanks for mentioning golf tournament. Hilarious!!
Love the fangirling!
Amazing talent!
Don't worry the blues will be fine" lol.
Excellent!
I can't comment enough... I'll be sending this to my parents because they're equally big fans of both... Naw im a bigger fan!
Great interview! Austin, TX representing. 🤘
Love Gary
Just listened to jpeg raw and it was on point!
Thx Jon
Love Jon fanboying…for a gifted singer and song writer. 🐑🐑🇳🇿🇳🇿NZ
I love this dude.
Stevie Wonder was born on May 13th, 1950. He will be 74 in a few weeks.
So the blues is big again and it came from Austin. I lived there in the 70’s and 80’s when the blues permeated Austin.
Great guitarist
Gary gives an impeccable concert. And he's very cute
I love his vibe.
Keep up great music 🎉😊
Gary mentioned Stevie Wonder, who will be 74, almost as old as Biden, and still is a hard worker.
So what about age fellas?
💀
Exactly!
Not that Biden has ever been a slouch
Just because I'm a photog and his album is called "JPEG RAW", I'm in 😎
stevie wonder just called to say he loves you
Underrated comment ❤
I have to dig into my picture archive to see if Gary performed at our Club early on before busting into the big music scene.
Gary is great... but we get Jon , once a week and we, the country, needs him to clear up the BS in society.
🔥🔥🔥
FYI John used to work at MTV
Stevie Wonder is 73 not 80 something 😂
So surprising to hear him mention Az Yet.
Marley used to think that sound through music would heal the soul..
Maybe some day birdsong will speak truth
just want to point out that the phrase “JPEG RAW” is basically an oxymoron. It’s like saying “fried egg fresh egg”
Your point is?
Does anyone know if the music played to introduce GCjr is music by GCjr, and if so, what song is it? Or is that just the Daily Show band doing a guitar riff? I really like it
It would have to be one of Garys songs right? But it sounds like The Black Keys. I have all of Garys albums and I dont recognize it.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Stevie Wonder is 73.
Am I the only one who misread this as a collab between Gary Clark Jr and JPEGMAFIA? 😂
no one has the right to corrupt and abuse anyone
Stevie will be 74 in May
I assume we cannot see the performance due to some dumb music licensing agreement with 'digital content'. That's a shame with this large spotlight.
Not always the case. Musicians rarely perform on this comedy show. But he's done other late night shows the week
Separate video with performance.
Didn't this guy play Moriarty in the BBC Sherlock show with Benedict Cumberbatch?
great interview of an artist i need to pay more attention to but stevie wonder is only 73
🎸💃👍
💖✨💖
Gonna hafta check that brotha out! 🎶🎶✨✌️
Have any of you actually listened to his music? Nothing says you’re the savior of the blues like saying you are on national TV. There are so many better blues musicians out there … 😢
Who is Gary?
Wait Stevie Face times?
I believe Shaq, when he said that Stevie Wonder can see. 🫣👀😆
..wait, wait...is this even "legal"?
Stevie wonder is 74
George Clinton is 82
@AE-bm4no can you imagine what it was like being his grandchild? 😅

Hmmmm…Stevie Wonder is 73…not in his 80’s….😂
I love the blues but there's something about those songs... they depress me... 😢
Stevie Wonder is 73 not 80-something 🙄
