lol so true. but it's impossible for me to not get hyped. one thing we at least know is that they were second guessing themselves constantly and were totally unsure of themselves when it came to fear innoculum, but it ended up being a huge success, and they are still loved 13 years later, so hopefully that will ease their minds and they will be more sure of what they're doing for the next LP or EP and release it a lot faster. as much as i do love fear innoculum, I wouldn't mind to hear some more bangers in the future. Sure they're getting older, but Tool's sound just works for any age. Doesn't feel immature at all, probably since it feels quite cerebral and more thought provoking. A lot of bands don't age well and the genre they write in starts to get kinda cringey as they age. Tool and Radiohead are the only bands I can think of at the top of my head that have aged well. I guess anything a little more artsy and progressive can still work when you get old, but anything that's too angsty like punk or grunge for example just doesn't work once you get older. look at Green Day, i used to like them when I was younger and still appreciate their old stuff, but they are so cringey now. some bands can stay true to who they are, and then you have acts that are trying hard to hold on to their youth and stay relevant.
