Not sure if this counts, but we full timed for 7 1/2 years and just quit in November 2020. Loved the life, but after visiting our 50th state we decided it was time for a house again. We signed the contract on our new house before Covid, but when it hit, it cemented in our minds that we picked a good time. We'll still RV, just not full time.
I am so fortunate to be in fairly good health. No serious diseases or disabilities. I thank God for each and every day that I can still live this lifestyle. I am 89 years old and will be 90 in October 2021. I full time by myself in a 26' Class A Motorhome and am still able to do all the chores necessary to take care of my rig and drive it on the roads and highways with no problems. I no longer climb up on the roof however. Whenever I visit my dealer for maintenance or repair, I have them check everything I can think of including cleaning off the roofing checking for any cracks needing Dicor touchup etc. I always say: It's better than an Assisted Living facility! lol!
I was a fire fighter EMT in 1992 we got a call rv on fire on 475 north when got there it was off the shoulder of hy in some over grown grass and bushes .it wasn't on fire the radiator was busted and steam was escaping. There was one lady standing by the mini wini rv and no one else. She was in her 80s. I was doing a medical assessment on her there was nothing wrong with her physically but mentally she was disoriented. This was her story. She and her husband had retired from the ship yard in L.A. and where seating on their porch.when their neighbor rolled his rv out by the rd for sale in1973. They looked at each other and said buy it .he had died in 1986 .and she keep going . The rv had seen better days. When I went inside to get her pocket book. There was a wall map of NORTH AMERICA. FROM THE EAST COAST TO HOMER ALASKA TO PANAMA PANAMA 🇵🇦 😀 AND EVERYWHERE IN BETWEEN THAT RV HAD BEEN. A COMPLETE COAST LINE circumference of North America ! I don't no what happened to her. But I'll never forget her. .
I’m talking about doing this with my 85 yr old father we lost my mom 3 yrs ago from pancreatic cancer and my dad lives with me and I think it would be nice to take him along to see some of the country and be able to see some of the relatives we moved away from I really think he would enjoy it since we used to take road trips down Route 66 as a kid from California to Omaha Nebraska every summer.
Yes. Great point. We do have a large contingent who do not travel but love to travel virtually with us. We are very happy to have you along for our journey!!
They call me Ishmael.... my friend JB, loved sailing and history....and he loved saying that line...he invited me sail with others on his boat on Lake Ontario at night.
Hi Liz and Paul - this was another great video! Paul, I am so sorry for your loss. May the memories of your friend bring you comfort and peace in the days ahead.
Great reasons... I’ve been living on the road since I was 16 I’m now 36 I’m also lucky cause I’m a trucker as well... I’m used to living on the road & being gone constantly but when I’m not trucking I’m in my rv camper it’s the best life
Thanks for this. Good reminders- especially the one about travelling fast. Its great to remember if you are in this life you are already there. Live. Do not rush.
We are getting ready to hit the road for 3 or so months, we have planned are trip out Texas, but gets hard to plan after that, what do you all over come this
I’ve been doing Rv living since November 2019. Like you said the first 6 months it was all about learning and getting comfortable with your rig. I love your video!
I’m 53 and disabled with rheumatoid arthritis and spondylitis. This video kind of broke my heart because my mom and I aren’t going to be able to have our dream of traveling via RV, based on what you said. I can’t travel by car or plane because I can only sit up for two hours or so a day, so I thought this could be a solution. I’m grateful to find out this information beforehand, though. I guess I’ll just have to travel vicariously through people who post videos of their trips. Thank you for this channel.
I just stop and rest when i need to. I have a Murphy bed I leave down on the road. I stop almost every 2 hours to keep the blood moving, get a drink of water and anti drink! We stop for meals, too. We are fairly slow, but we get there happy and safe. I used to just zip around, never sat down because it hurt more to sit. Then a surgeon destroyed my back making walking almost impossible, but i do what i can a lot slower, but i do it. I do what i can and RVing, though hard makes me stronger so i can do more with less pain, and i am sooo happy and free compared to sitting home getting weaker and a bit down. A little slower is better than nothing at all for me. I can have 24 hour pain sitting at our cabin or 24 hour pain having some fun on the road. Yes sometimes it gets very bad, and i just have to stop, pack on the ice and wait it out, but it always gets better enough to plow ahead a few hours to a day or so. At home, it always takes longer to get better. I don't know why. The last spell was 2 weeks, but i did get through it. Back working on moving/selling so we can hit the road permanently. So excited! Just see if you can go with someone and be sure to help. At first i crawl up steps like a baby, butbafter a week, i can use the handle and get up them almost normally. The new fifth wheel steps and large handles are so much easier. See if after a few days you aren't better and happier. If not, you have lost nothing. Yes, i love watching other's trips and fun. I love the lessons and visiting online with them. For me, i am stair stepping my way into it over the last few years. I bought a truck and trailer. No one thought i could do it. We have dreadful fires here...5 evacs in 7 years. It is terrifying. Now we will always have a way to leave and have a home. I have most of the tools and equipment we will need and learning how to use it all. I find work arounds for what might stop me. I so want my son to have great memories of fun times and not of the hard life we have lived where we are. I am just so sorry that i waited so long. Until i found UA-cam and groups on FB, i could not imagine something better. It means letting go of old ways and finding new ones even better. I pray you find a way to sample it even a little. God bless.
That's probably very true. She told felt she needed a higher level of certainty than this life offers. I get how RV life can have too much adventure for some folks.
Never ever start “full time RVing living” until you have tried a few times over a period of 1 to 2 years by renting motorhome or trailer for a week or two every trip. At least 6 trips before making the final decision to full time RVing.
@@Hard_Car_Life Sandra Westley not by comparison of all the money you put in an RV and as soon as it rolls out the show room it’s lost quite a bit of money. In UK it’s an expensive hobby we call it Caravanning, we have been doing it for holidays for 40 years now, all over France and Europe, Spain, loved every minute of it but not lived in it full time. But now at 76 we have stop travelling and put it permanently down on the coast, we just travel for 2 weeks every month down to it. But even though it’s by the coast it has to be set up each time we go down there and it needs a certain amount of energy to connect everything, and set up, and then to put it all away, we are managing at the moment.
It really depends on what you are giving up and who you personally are as a person. If there's not a lot holding you to an address, you may already be a transient personality and just can jump in with both feet. But if you like own a home and have strong roots and just would like to see some pretty places. Maybe selling your home and throwing it all into RV living is gonna be an adjustment. And if you are a "couple" or family paired, if everyone is not fully into it, it'll eventually fall apart now matter how much you test as you prepare to go full time.
We're looking into buying a used one soon. Most likely a 5th wheel, but we'll figure it out as we shop around. We'll start by renting it out and going out in it a bit. I mainly want it for emergency, like an extended power outage, which I've seen coming for awhile. Like someone in this thread already so wistfully said, renting one is expensive. We already rent rooms in our house and we can make a lot more renting out a trailer. I see the rental prices on fb Marketplace and holy smokes people charge through the nose for these things. I wouldn't have the heart to charge that much. I'm in Ontario, and we're in a small town too, $100 a night? Renting a spot, travel expenses, it's way too much.
Hi, my name is Rob and Unjust found you a couple months ago....1 reason I know a few have quit was because they didn't financially plan properly....I have faced triathlon for 20 years and cycling was my 1st love that lead me to triathlon. I spent my very early years wondering the roads of North America in a semi, and that's where I found my love of travel and adventure...We plan to go full time when we retire, I can't take my Job on the road....I'm 57 and my Bride is 60 so we are in planning stage right now. Maybe we will see ya on the road, we plan on spending a lot of time out west and winters prob around Arizona. Thanks for the InSite and videos...and sorry for your loss.....I know that feeling......it stings!! Rob & Wendy
Hi Rob and Wendy! We are so glad to have you with us. It sounds like you know what you want and are making plans. We'd love to see you out here. Happy planning and thanks for your kind words!
My husband and I fulltimed for 14 years until his death. We were getting ready to give it up in the spring of 2017 and unfortunately he passed on 12/22/16. We really loved every minute of it.
We are full timers too. Today is actually our two year nomadversary! I can’t imagine ever wanting to go back to a sticks and bricks life, but of course never say never. As long as our health holds out we will be traveling and exploring in our RV. What makes this life enjoyable to us is that we planned and saved a lifetime in order to do it securely. If we hadn’t done that, it would be a deal breaker for us! So saddened to hear of your loss Paul. 💔🙏🏻 really enjoying your channel, you two make a cute couple. 💞
Thank you so much for the love! I feel the same way, since it has taken me over 25 years to get out here. I wake up every day grateful to be living this life. We are so glad to have you on our team and happy nomad anniversary to you! Looking forward to meeting you on the road.
So sorry for your loss Paul. You are obviously still grieving and had a hard time talking about your dear friend. You are so lucky to have had a friend like that. Try to remember the good times you shared together. Stay safe out there!
I love it, at 2:23 you have b-roll of Leavenworth, WA. Leavenworth is one of my favorite places to be a weekend warrior. We live so close that we can get off work on a Friday, drive an hour and a half with the rig and go out to dinner before putting in for the night. And hotel rooms are super expensive there, but camp sites are reasonable, and if you are just passing through, overnight, one-night, dry camping at a city lot is free. It’s so quaint and fun.
Yay! Yes, we loved Leavenworth! Such a great area. Glad you know it. We stayed at the Thousand Trails campground about 25 minutes up the road. We have some drone footage of that campground and details about Thousand Trails in this video: ua-cam.com/video/cbZC97DWFe8/v-deo.html
I'm right behind you, Barbara!! I'm looking at the high top vans to do a conversion on. Easier to drive and park. I'm going to retire later this year. I live in Sedona, Az so the weather isn't that bad most of the year. I'm more looking to get out of town for a few months in the Summer.
Great points to consider. I'm an elderly, single woman. I love the idea of traveling the country in a T@b camper. Several worrisome thoughts keep me house-bound: 1) When I'm handed the keys to the trailer, I can imagine myself sitting on the sales lot, wondering "what now, " which way do I go? 2) What to do if I arrive somewhere, and there's no room to park? 3) Traveling in cities with narrow roads, will I be able to navigate turns without hitting another vehicle? I think I'm just too afraid to make the change.
All rvs are designed to fit on 99% of the streets and highways in America. A small trailer and tow vehicle will be no problem for you. If the big rigs and huge RVs can fit, you can too. There are thousands of rv parks and places to go. Depending on where you plan to be or just find yourself, it may be an rv campground or a Walmart or a rest area. We use them all and it just depends on how much planning you prefer to do or if you like to just wing it. Also you will have many apps on your phone to give you information and choices. I say Just do it and you will be fine. I am also an elderly solo widow and like a mix of socializing with friends and alone time in my RV on the road.
Hi Debra, Doris is 89 about to turn 90 this October. We are humbled and inspired by her can-do attitude as she lives fulltime in her RV. She gave you great advice and if this life calls you, I hope you give it a try! Looking forward to seeing you out here!
Full time r here, cancer and stroke survivor with mobility issues because of it, but since I survived, working on living my dream.... only a couple months in, but so far we are going ahead eith the plan♡
Wow! Congratulations to you! You are not only a survivor.... you are a heroic survivor! I admire you so much for following your dreams, living life to the fullest and not letting anything hold you back! Cheers to you! Safe travels and best wishes for continued recovery!
#2 and #4 I’m not even trying to go full time just extended traveling like two or three months at a time but my first try with my wife was shy of a month witch included her first thanksgiving away from family although we spent with friends she can’t handle too much time away from the kids and grandkids. Mechanical issues on the road are very stressful too. We broke down 250 miles from home at the end of that trip when she was more than ready to be home. It took almost a week to get it fixed but the shop was nice enough to give me a loaner car to get home and come back when it was fixed. Big thanks to Stadium automotive in Eugene Oregon. Thanks for sharing. sorry for your loss
Yes, there really is a lot to think about. Glad you are doing the research and thinking it through. If this life calls you, then it will be a good experience. Whatever you do, it's all about living life to the fullest. Thanks for watching and for your comment.
It’s a good life, IF you are both agreed on it, ......this video is RIGHT ON, fact-wise.....We are retired , full-time R.V’ers, after spending 11 1/2 years on the road, (working in one area for 6 months, each year, either in the summer or in the winter, & wife is a cancer survivor in the midst of this time) People, R.V’ers, older & wiser than us, told us, during our first year, that “if you’re serious about this, do it between the ages of 60 to 80, as MOST of us have health issues, after that age.......they were right!
When I retired (my wife had already retired) we went Rving in the Western U.S. for just over four months. We had a great time and would recommend it. 2023 will be our 50th anniversary and we are planning to do it again. There is a LOT to see.
Another great informative video! You are really hitting all the bases for me. About 16 months away from retirement and my wife is not fully on board at this point. We're both very happy in our retirement home and have no desire to sell the home base and full time. I more than she, look forward to 2-3 trips each year for 2 months at a time. Barbara loves the outdoors too, but isn't sure she wants to be out on the road as much as I do. I think I may be doing some solo trips occasionally too. So sorry for your recent loss Paul. Just another reason to get out and enjoy this beautiful country when we have our health, a few bucks, and of course time to share with the many new friends we look forward to meeting. Keep your wonderful videos coming! Thanks so much...
Awww, thanks so much! That sounds like a great plan to mix it up with long trips and a couple solo trips. I bet you are counting down the months until your retirement. Congrats and thanks again for your kind words!
Hello, great video and fantastic topic. Agreed this life style is extremely physical and at times plain old hard work but beats sitting in an arm chair waiting to die. Sorry for your loss of your friend. Sending love from your Aussie nomad friends 🤗
Awww thanks so much for your love. Paul says he appreciates that. And I'm with you, I'll take the physical work over stagnating any time! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I full timed 10 for years. You are spot on with reasons to quit. The biggest one I think is learning to slow down. So many RVers drive from sun up to sun down, driving 500 miles a day! I loved it. Quit to live close to my son in my later years.
So glad you got ten years of this life! We are 2.5 years in and finding so many places to see and do we can't put an end date to it. Happy memories to you!
I love watching a variety of these videos. I have never gone RVing, but the idea intrigues me immensely. I tow a boat regularly so the towing aspect doesn’t scare me. I’m wondering about traveling solo....that’s the part that is holding me back. Thanks for being so informative!
Hi Sue! I was solo for a year but had plenty of RV experience before then. You are already ahead of the game bc of your towing experience. If this life calls you, then try it out on weekends (even renting an RV) just to see how it fits for you. For me, it truly was a calling and I'm so glad I answered! Thanks for watching and commenting!
My wife and I are in our 80's now, both have serious health and mobility problems which have caused us to pause motorhoming activity since well before the panademic happened. We have been RV'ers since the 60's. We hope to get back to nearby camping and short duration touring. I am amazed that many couples will , seemingly on a whim, sell their home, and buy an expensive rig intending to full time with little or no knowledge of RV living. Sometimes one or the other persons will be really enthusiastic and the other will be less so, less adventurous, or more bound to nearby family and familiar surrounds. I can no longer crawl onto the roof of our rig, and have some discomfort checking tire pressure, dumping tanks, and loading and unloading the rig. I think that people who are retirement age should be aware that health and mobility problems can come up unexpectedly and that their partner may not be able to enjoy RV living for the rest of their life. Selling your home that can appreciate in value and buying a rig the depreciates immediately is a serious step and may not be a reversible decision. Living in an RV is not necessarily as comfortable as well insulated home with room for hobby activity and "elbow room" for when you are not "getting along" well.
Wise words, Gary, thanks so much. Definitely if planning to do this life fulltime, you still need a plan B. Life certainly can and does change on a dime no matter what age you are. So we think everyone needs to have an exit plan. Thanks for your comment and see you in the next video.
"They" say, whoever they are, that when you start a new job, you should give it at least six months to let the fog clear and get your footing. It's only after one year that competence sets in. As in everything, too, there's no free lunch. Planning and research count for a lot. Thank you for another great video! Really, really hope to meet you on the road one day. Sorry for your friend's passing, Paul.
So glad I stumbled on your video here... I am 47 and my heart is failing from loosing both parents and now their old pug dog to lung cancer and in November I bought a 21 foot lil guy Max teardrop camper and still didn’t get out in it yet and this video encouraged me! I honestly feel that if I don’t get out in it I will die of a broken heart if I stay here on the farm where my parents died and all our precious dogs... as I loose all I love my heart strings pull me in towards Heaven our eternal home!
Hi Amy! So sorry for your losses. Yes, it does sound like you are mired there on the farm with all the memories. What calls you? If getting out on the road with your Little Guy Max, does, then we encourage you to go for it. It will be an adventure to look forward to, and a way to honor your parents by living YOUR life to the fullest. Hugs.
Liz Amazing thank you soo much for responding to me!! You made my heart happy! Thank you for seeing the silver lining and opening my eyes to it... I was feeling guilty for wanting to leave the farm I was born and raised on and you allowed me to see it as honoring my parents by setting out and living life to the fullest! Thanks!
Best thing you can do is change your environment and consequently perspective. After my dad passed I hit the floor running like there was a fire! It's taken me 11 years to slow down.
Good information, thank you! Paul, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your lifelong friend. Words cannot convey how hard it must be to go through such a tragedy. Take care, Wally
We were guilty of #5 for sure. When we started our full-time rv life, we didn’t treat it as a vacation, but we did move waaaay too much. Slowing down has sooo many benefits! (Maybe a future video idea’r 😉)
Me and my husband bought a 42ft Montana last year as a 2nd home, until our home is built, on the Waccamaw River in North Carolina but we enjoy it on the weekends. When 2nd home is built we want to start traveling, I CANT WAIT !!!
The problem with a lack of mobility is boredom doing the same thing everyday. I am 75 and my wife is 80. I wanted to give my wife a change in scenery and eliminate boredom. She has an electric wheelchair to get around. We are in the process of buying a used 37’ motor home. Now to figure out how camp without spending a fortune
Yes! And welcome to RV life. We camp at resorts (which have handicapped campsites) for just $50 a month. Highly recommend for your situation. Here's how: ua-cam.com/video/cbZC97DWFe8/v-deo.html
I'm sorry to hear about your friend passing away, Paul. Enjoy each day we are blessed with. You both give wonderful insights about the realities to RVing, the enjoyable times, and also the frustrating times. If it's health, family and people around us, or repairs, whether we're on the road or living in one place, it's all a part of life. It ultimately comes down to choices and how we want to live our lives, and accepting the risks involved.
Yes. Wise words indeed. Thanks for your comment. We just went through a very challenging time and have a video about that coming out tomorrow. If you haven't already, ring the bell to get notifications. See you in the next video.
I would so be one of those to get there fast. I’ve always been wired that way. I’m a two stroke engine and I wish I could be a four stroke. I just can’t.
Instead of planing for a destination at the apex of your trip plan for the 300 mile spot and add in a week there. Then the next spot etc. thus taking the focus off of that far away spot
I love watching the two of you. After watching your videos I always have a smile, especially with the new endings. Brings a lightness of heart to my days. Sorry for your loss Paul. It's hard realizing you'll never see a friends face again, or enjoy their companionship. What I've found helpful is to make a small scrapbook to celebrate the relationship. Think of things like what was their favorite song, a favorite meal shared, the best time you had on a adventure from college or grade school, a time when you both got in trouble together, did they have a favorite pet, etc. Focus on the joy, not the sadness. Remembering those things makes it easier when you come across that type of experience again you to remember joys from the past and be able to enjoy the moment even more.
I love that idea so much and I will pass that on to Paul. One thing I like to do is plant a tree in a friend's honor. Thanks so much for your kind words about our channel. We love hearing from you each week. Have a great weekend and we'll see you in the next video!
@CJ Roaming - what a thoughtful comment. Thanks for sharing this with @Liz Amazing. They are truly great people and YT is better because of their channel. Just thought you should know that someone else has recognized your kind suggestion.
I’m looking forward to #rvlife in August, but I know I’ll miss my daughter and grandkids so I’m just planning on trips that bring me home every couple of months and have them join me on some summer trips. And thank goodness for FaceTime! Great topic! Thanks!
We too are new to #rvlife and we are looking forward to experiencing the lifestyle. We completed our RV rehab a couple of months ago. Check it out on our channel and give us some advice for going forward.
Sounds great!!! Live YOUR best life! Come see the grandkids.... but give yourself permission to chase your dreams! Have a great time and best wishes for safe travels!
Condolences to the loss of your friend. I enjoy your videos and your sharing your journey with us. Hopefully when I retire my wife and I can live the RV life too!
We’re in our 6th year of full timing in a Class B. We have solar panels and love to hike, especially out west, so we boondock a lot or stay in simple Forest Service campgrounds. We’re beginning to wonder if we’ll keep traveling because it’s getting so crowded. It used to be that special places would be shared word of mouth. Now, with social media, people post pictures on Instagram (for example) and within a few days, thousands of people decide to go to that place. Then what made that spot so special - the quiet & beauty - is lost forever. I won’t post on Instagram because of this & I’m very careful what I post elsewhere. When you return to multiple special places and you find them over run with people & noise & machines, then you begin to wonder if full timing is worth it. We hope we will continue but we are questioning our commitment at this point. All your reasons why people quit are spot on.
Hi Joan, thanks for your comment. I started this life in a Class B as a solo traveler. Hats off to you both for doing it for six years! I hope you keep looking as we are hearing there are still plenty of peaceful areas with few people. We are also out West and don't boondock but we know plenty of people who do. Happy travels!
Everything you guys mentioned is very true . We have a 41 ft Sierra 5th wheel and we camp out locally often but are limited to exstended stays . My wife’s mother is 95 and is in the nursing home and we both have back problems. Also I was in a 18 wheeler wreck where a loaded pulpwood truck turned over on my truck in a bad curve and part of his load came through my windshield. Needless to say air lifted to Shreveport, La. ICU , respiratory and 8 surgeries on my left upper arm . Mabe one day we we will be able to travel again . I love the mountains in the west . We have traveled a great deal and we were truly blessed to do so . Safe travels for both of you . May God bless you
Hi Louis! Oh my goodness sounds like that was a close call and a life changing event. We hope you are recovering well. Hopefully you'll get out here again soon. Hugs to you both from Liz and Paul.
We are fully committed to and loving this life! So very sorry Paul about your friend. That is very hard. Look at that gracious loss to the domino game! ❤️ Loved the video.
This is our 7th month last month I was thinking about parking for a while, but I stopped thinking about it everyday. I’ll revisit that in a few months and see if my thoughts are the same as before.
I always enjoyed camping and the outdoor fresh air. ive always enjoyed doing outdoor yard work etc instead of indoor housework! we had a 24 ft trailer yrs ago and i loved it. but i wd park a fifth wheel at an rv park for 5 or 6 month term not travel all over the place as my #1 sport is tennis and in 2017 my hubby n I won the mxd doubles spring championship in a city club of over 200 people we were living in. so Im not going to give it up. To play regularly I must plant my feet for at least half a year to qualify to get onto any good teams for proper play levels. weve been in the solitude 310 and i can get that floorplan in an older 5th wheel and do any cosmetic renos myself. my hubby has just today been offered a job at a big RV dealership in the city we live near. 5 day weeks no evenings. hmmm
Wow, sounds like a good job offer. No nights or weekends-- can't beat that! If you can get an older Solitude, then I would go for that. We have been into several Reflections built in 2017 and they seem more solid than our 2020 Solitude. I do like the flexibility of this life. We like where we are right now in the San Diego area and would be quite happy to stay here for a few months. Actually, that would be my RV life nirvana: three months stationary in winter, nine months travel.
@@LizAmazing if we are going to keep our current house (which we can pay off) then I must keep my rv budget to a minimum. if we spend winters down south then we could/should rent our house mid october to mid april; not sure how that wd work as its fully furnished. providing its not a wreck, i can get a 2007 montana or cedar creek with the same floor plan as yours for around 15 to 20g; then we wd have to get a truck. but again, no point if the border is not open. still waiting!!
You guys are so blessed to have found each other. I've watched Liz from the start and I pop in once in a while to see how you are doing and what's new. You seem very well suited and happy with your RV life together. So true about being grateful. I lost my husband a few years ago and miss him terribly. Finding a compatible life partner is a gift to cherish. So sorry you lost your good friend.
Liz and Paul, ANOTHER great video! We are still planning our r.v. purchase.... closer every day. So. We are not planning on a full time arrangement in the r.v. (travel trailer), but having it as more of a get away hobby for quick or even a little longer (to us) trips for vacation. Visiting family or just exploring. I will admit though that your videos do tempt me to dream of a full-time experience..... even with all of the ups and downs/ pros and cons of the lifestyle. Anyway, thank you for sharing your experiences and lives with us. Also, Paul, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your friend. Situations like that serve as a reminder to us all that tomorrow is not promised so we need to live every day like it is the last chance we have and love our friends and family like we will never see them again. I pray peace and comfort for your friend's family and friends and hope fond memories will help you make it through this difficult time of loss. Safe travels and best wishes to you both! Cheers!
Nice video. I'm thinking of living full time in an Airstream on 2 acres. Yes, be thankful to God every day for the good health He blesses you with. Good perspective.
Agree with your RV experience sentiments. One huge factor for me was finding the right park matchup for the space renter. If you have a mismanaged RV park, forget about enjoying a more leisurely life style. It will be a constant conflicted visit.
You are so right, Jim!!! The right campground can truly make or break your experience. Thanks for your comment and see you in our latest video right here: ua-cam.com/video/r4NcdWXgZCY/v-deo.html
I really love you both love what you do thanks so much for these talks I really enjoyed them but I've reached I can join you but I can't can you raise into grandkids it's hard to do anything well my grandkids is growed up I'm too old and now my health is bad but you both take care love you a lot be safe out there and God bless you
I’m a single mom with a 6 yr old disabled daughter & two older children. I’m getting ready to take this journey with my youngest daughter! I’m excited, but nervous!! I’m ready to see so much and be free!! Thank You for all the info...., it’s much needed here!!
Hi Denise! Oh to be six again and live this life, I would just love it! What a wonderful gift you are giving your children. Be sure to check out our video coming out tomorrow (ring the bell to get notifications) because I talk about one huge peril of being a single mom and living this life. See you there!
We sold our house last summer and are living in our RV this winter in the snow with the intention that we were going to begin full-timing in the summer. However, as you said, life happens. My mother-in-law is starting to suffer from a lot of confusion and we have decided we have to move back home to be closer to her as there are no other children close by. We are keeping our RV in the hopes that we can still get out and take some trips. Meanwhile, we’ve been in here for seven months and we absolutely love it. We have not missed one thing about having a big house. Safe travels! Blessings, Betsy
Hi Betsy! So sorry to hear about your MIL. Someone just commented a very important truth: an RV gives you options. I love that. I'm super happy that you and your husband have had seven months of RV living...and I bet you get some more in some way some how. There is definitely MORE life when you have LESS stuff! Take care.
By the way you can have an automatic Antenna installed it has a cover and it’s round and I don’t turn it on it just picks up channels very well it has an amplifier built in. So I like it. It never has to be pointed it simply works. It came with my rig. That one upgrade would keep you off your roof
I admire you guys. You have your heads in the right spot. Rushing on a trip to get somewhere is a hard thing to break but slowing down and enjoying sites along the way is my goal. Wherever you are headed will be there when you get there. I watch all your videos and have enjoyed them and learned a lot from you two. Thank you!
Hi Peter! Thanks so much for watching our videos. We love having you with us on our journey. Thanks for your comment and we'll see you in the next one!
Lots of social out on the road, even with covid. We know people who travel with other solo-ers. One thing you will be doing less of is housework! It takes no time at all to clean the RV, freeing you up to live life more. Congrats on almost 2000 subs on your channel!!
My wife and I enjoy your perspective of full-time RVing living. Those were good reasons. We are in our early 50s and looking to go from weekenders to full-time next year in 2023. The one reason you gave about health is the one reason we want to go full-time. My wife has 100% VA disability and cannot handle stress; however, camping/RVing relaxes her. Like you two, I have been blessed with really good health except from a bum right knee from my 25 years in the military (no more running, now bikes and hiking). Again really enjoy your calm perspective on RVing. And yes, of all the RV videos we watch, not sure why certain RVers are in such a hurry. In the words of Ferris Bueller, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." Thank you.
Hi again Rick! How exciting for you both that you can go fulltime while being so young!!! Yes, health is a biggie. The saying goes something like, if you have your health you can have a million dreams, if you don't have your health you have but one dream. Paul and I look forward to seeing you out here next year. How much fun would be that be to sit around the campfire with you both! Happy planning!!
I just love your videos. Y’all are so cute together. So sorry for your friend Paul, friends are so special and when you loose them you also lose a part of you. You will always have them in your heart. Y’all stay safe. Happy travels
Thanks so much! You have plenty of company as we have a sizable group of viewers who just like to watch us and our adventures. We love having you with us on our journey! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Good video. We are burning the bridge by selling our house and jumping into full time rv. purchased a 30 ft class a. This is something we have had long discussions about. Both of us retired, she has a health history. I am still relatively fit and able to perform functions needed in our journey. We intend to flat tow, and plan this winter to escape Great Lakes weather.
Oooh, sounds like so much to look foward to! Congrats on your new RV! We have a new video just posted with things you may want to consider as a couple: ua-cam.com/video/gOv9vN3P4o4/v-deo.html
We're retired and I can't seem to get my hubby 100% on board, so I might be getting a Super C for myself....told him I'll be mooch docking! Paul I'm so sorry to hear of your friends death and I hope you are sharing your memories with Liz. I unexpectedly lost my son this past October & I'm realizing just how much my Paul lived in 33 yrs, 6 months & 5 days~ He squeezed so much into those few decades. I'm praying for comfort as you grieve and hoping Liz's laugh will bring you more smiles. Thank you for the insightful video~
Hi Wanda! So very sorry to hear of your son, Paul. That's tough and I know it will be a tough road ahead. I am sure if he lived his life so fully he would want you to do the same. That's why I'm glad to hear you are thinking about getting an RV. Thanks so much for your comment. Hugs from us.
that's funny, for me it's the reverse. i can't get HER "on board"....the idea that i get her a nice condo and i get a class C is becoming more a 'best fit ' idea..she can live/work there, and i can go out and explore and send her video..until she decides to come on out herself.
Great video Liz and Paul and a great reminder how precious life is and our moments are! As a firefighter, often I see unfortunate circumstances change lives in an instant. It is a reminder we need to make the most of every moment. Take nothing for granted and be the very best we can be to ourselves and others always. Keep safe!
Thanks Maarten. This is the first campground we've stayed in where there are fire extinguishers on posts. It seems like one for every six sites. Since these rigs can go up in an instant I am wondering why we don't see them more often. We are in an urban area so I'm guessing it's a city ordinance. Though I am not sure how much an extinguisher would help beyond perhaps a kitchen fire. Stay safe as well!
My wife and I live in a 40ft Country Coach Affinity 2000 Model and we love it. It needs a little bit of work that we hope to complete this Spring. Because of taking care of a family member we have not done much traveling yet but we hope to in the Spring. I love your channel. I am 73 and my wife is soon to be 70. We are in fair health so far and plan to keep staying here as long as we can.
Oh good for you! One of my favorite things about RV life is that I always have so much to look forward to! Just like you two planning for your Spring trips. So fun to think about. See you out here!
Thank you for your help and videos. We’re newbies to the RV world. We’re looking forward to it and a little nervous about it. We’ve always been on a time line with our traveling because of our work and taking care of our folks. Well unfortunately our folks have passed away, and now we are able to do the things that we have put off for a long time. I anticipate that I will still want to get to our destination quickly. I know that I’ll have to get used to slowing down without driving like a bat out of hell. That’ll take some time. It’s all I’ve ever done. I just watched your video about slowing down and enjoy the whole experience. Thank you
My husband and I lived for 13 years in a motor home in Alaska year-round, yes through the winters also. We loved it but got really tired of running out of fresh water and always having to go and dump the tanks.
Finding folks like u is a MAJOR PART of WHY i want to hit the road .....nice video...important discussion. I would like a 4x4 truck with a cab over camper...and want to be able to get really AWAY FROM .... BUT might start with a van. I bought a 78 Argosy 24' Motorhome and am restoring it...with the idea it STAYS HERE in Florida where I volunteer for the State Parks (175 of them) and can stay for free...at 6 mpg I don't think I will take it to Oregon ... I am 64, originally from Colorado, fly fisher, retired pilot, with 2 dogs. Looking forward to viewing your other videos... Be blessed. :)
Hi Mr Mark! Sounds like you have a really sweet deal with your Florida situation. I've been to many of their state parks. Lucky you! Enjoy and happy camping!
Wife and I have been full time for a year in June and we found those super fast timetables stress us out so we slowed down and we love it! We spend at least a week but 2 weeks generally meets our comfort level.
Sorry for your loss Paul. You two are good people.Your happiness shows. I now have the hubby listening when I watch your videos. How long does it take to make one video?
Deb H That was this video, which has helped a lot of people so it was worth it! Shopping for An RV | Class A | Class B | Class C | Travel Trailer | Fifth Wheel ua-cam.com/video/clPVWVFnQ2k/v-deo.html
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. It looked like an emotional moment to relate that story to us as viewers. My hubby and I have been tossing around the idea of full time RVing once our nearly grown kids are out of the nest. Since he and I both were struck down with fairly serious medical issues in our 30s, maybe we ought to rethink this idea. Thanks for your honesty, and for letting us have a peek at life on the go!
So glad you are taking the time to think it through. RV life is not for everybody but we LOVE it and meet many people who only wish they'd started sooner. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
My husband is the driver and we are never in a hurry. I totally support him and we do just fine. He’s driving and he’s dealing with the road and the drivers. I feel like a .........waitress/ stewardess. It’s always, “ honey, can you get me something to drink? Or “any snacks?” I unbuckle and .....it can be a circus act, but I deliver. We LOVE it. We are not full-timers but embrace it every opportunity. Thank you for this video and stay safe and well.
Hello there! It sounds like you are having fun. So glad you are out here taking good trips and making good memories. We hope to meet you in a campground someday. Happy travels!
All great information! We have been RVing for 6 years now, due to my husbands work. Looking to upgrade into a Class A Allegro Bus maybe this year from our current Montana 41ft 4th wheel. We're in our early 50s, sold our house in Maine in 2020 and is currently in Florida til Sept-ish til this job is done. My husband has worked all along the east coast, including Ohio, PA, Indiana, Tenn..and eventually will be retiring in AZ in 4 years! We love this life and wouldn't change a thing ! Stay safe..❤
Yay! Sounds like you are having lots of adventures. We, too, are tempted to get a Class A, they just seem more nimble than our fifth wheel. Hope to see you on the road. Keep enjoying life!!
Thank you so much for sharing! We aren't full-timers yet but do enjoy getting out a few times a month. I can honestly state that there is nothing as relaxing then getting out away from it all in your RV. We have a little 25' Class C Winnebago Vita, she is perfect right now.
Awww, that sounds like a perfect rig. Paul and I don't travel light but sometimes we wonder if we could. IF we were minimalists, we would have one of those Vitas. Enjoy yours! Glad to hear you are out here several times a month. Looking forward to meeting you in a campground!
Good choice of Points to make this video to share. We headed out planning on taking this nice and slow. We wouldn't have begun if we didn't have our daughter to look in on my In-Laws for us. We also planned to possibly have to fly home for an emergency. People need to consider all possibilities before becoming fulltime. That' so hard to lose a dear friend. My MIL fell and broke her C4 and C5 and became paralyzed that is when I was staying in our RV at her rehab facility for 3 months almost a yr before we embarked FT.
Thanks so much for your comment- we agree 100%! Yes, it is so important to think through all the possibilities before going fulltime, all the "What-ifs" so that you have a plan in place. Thanks for your kind words and so sorry about what happened with your MIL she was lucky to have you!
Hi guy's Liz and Paul. 14 years ago I got into the RV life style and got a 30 ft trailer - this was my home. It's a 1988 Prowler made by fleetwood. Well it has been a great learning experience. Almost like a house but smaller. I must say there are sure lots of things to learn about. Charging systems, heating, pluming, septic etc etc etc. Life is a great learning experience too - I think there might be a point here that people stop RV- ing full time and that is not researching enough and doing there home work and getting the training when hitting the road Before they hit the road. preparation is the key here. You are so right Liz about getting out with a towable from time to time or you get rusty...Full time RV traveling a great part of the work is preparation and planning ahead and knowing where you want to go rather just hitting the road and going anywhere. Hope you and Paul keep on with the adventure,. I must say Liz your laugh is quite a great pick-me up Thanks. Stay safe on the road and safe travels.
I'm fully committed to fulltime with a newer diesel tow vehicle and a 2021 Lance 2375 t.t.. Retiring in July and discovering my 1st challenge of downsizing and setting up the trailer.
@@LizAmazing Thanks. I've followed you both for awhile and made a previous comment about how you two met and found yourselves. A great story. Thanks again Jim C.
I enjoy the stories of people who have chosen this life. I have been a traveler and a runaway, even, in my life, but have been incredibly fortunate to have had my feet nailed to the floor at one point long enough to realize that I am living my best life in a simple way that includes a home in the woods. I love to travel and then come HOME.
I could feel your loss when you talked about your friend who passed. My sympathies to you and your friend's family. Appreciate the video content. Thank you!
Do you know people who have quit RV life?
Let us know any reasons we may have missed.
We don’t know anyone yet.
@@houselessnothomeless7580 Awesome that you got to experience this life. And 7.5 years is plenty! Thanks for your comment.
@Angela H I’m in the same boat as you. Have you considered joining a female caravan?
I am so fortunate to be in fairly good health. No serious diseases or disabilities. I thank God for each and every day that I can still live this lifestyle. I am 89 years old and will be 90 in October 2021.
I full time by myself in a 26' Class A Motorhome and am still able to do all the chores necessary to take care of my rig and drive it on the roads and highways with no problems.
I no longer climb up on the roof however. Whenever I visit my dealer for maintenance or repair, I have them check everything I can think of including cleaning off the roofing checking for any cracks needing Dicor touchup etc.
I always say: It's better than an Assisted Living facility! lol!
Wow! What an inspiration you are!! We certainly aspire to be just like you! Looking forward to meeting you on the road!!
God Bless You !!
That is an amazing story. Not living the rubber stamped life. Wished my Mom would have stepped out of her comfort zone.
Absolutely amazing. You're a true inspiration!
FROM THE EAST COAST TO HOMER ALASKA TO PANAMA PANAMA 🇵🇦 😀
AND EVERYWHERE IN BETWEEN THAT RV HAD BEEN.

Oh my gosh Shelly! That sounds like a wonderful thing to do. What fabulous memories you will make. Happy travels!
Do it now. I wanted to take my mum on trips but she became to frail. Even train trips were too much for her. RIP mum :(
I'm thinking the same
I’m thinking about doing this with my 75 year old mom
I'm not able to RV but I love watching those that can! Remember that people watch your videos for all kinds of reason. Thanks & Blessings ~Sidney
Yes. Great point. We do have a large contingent who do not travel but love to travel virtually with us. We are very happy to have you along for our journey!!
I left land and went to sea. I love being a full time live aboard sailor. My adventure starts where most people’s end.
I love it! Do whatever calls you. Life is short, you gotta make the most of it.

Hi Piper! Thank so much for your kind words. Have a great weekend. And we'll see you in the next video.
Great reasons... I’ve been living on the road since I was 16 I’m now 36 I’m also lucky cause I’m a trucker as well... I’m used to living on the road & being gone constantly but when I’m not trucking I’m in my rv camper it’s the best life

Hi there! Sounds like you are having a grand adventure- good for you!!! Looking forward to seeing you on the road.
God bless.
That couple that was talking about getting out at 3 weeks probably did not realize how different to be with spouse in tight quarters 24 /7.
That's probably very true. She told felt she needed a higher level of certainty than this life offers. I get how RV life can have too much adventure for some folks.
I like to stretch out and air it out

Never ever start “full time RVing living” until you have tried a few times over a period of 1 to 2 years by renting motorhome or trailer for a week or two every trip. At least 6 trips before making the final decision to full time RVing.
Wise words, there. Thanks.
Its so incredibly expensive to rent one, even a small one.
You two are a terrific source of info. Thank you. Paul, so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear friend.
Thanks so much on both counts!

@@LizAmazing Thank you. Think I'll go RV shopping! You ladies have inspired me to GO FOR IT!
@@debrajean9432 That's awesome! One of my camping gals has a T@b and loves it, in fact another one is thinking of buying one. Happy shopping!
Full time r here, cancer and stroke survivor with mobility issues because of it, but since I survived, working on living my dream.... only a couple months in, but so far we are going ahead eith the plan♡
Awesome! Congrats on surviving and for still kicking forward with your plans! We hope to see you out here!
Wow! Congratulations to you! You are not only a survivor.... you are a heroic survivor! I admire you so much for following your dreams, living life to the fullest and not letting anything hold you back! Cheers to you! Safe travels and best wishes for continued recovery!
Hi Liz and Paul! We have been full time for 1 year and have no intention of stopping in the predictable future. So good to see your latest video.
Oh great!! Glad to hear! We plan to keep on keeping on as well. Looking forward to seeing you on the road!
You guys are awesome! Such positivity and great videos that explain the real deal. Stay well and keep on adventuring!
Awww, thank you so much! Your comment made our day.
Oh my goodness. Glad they took care of you in Eugene! Thanks for watching and commenting.
We're almost retired and considering this life in the next few months. Thanks for the very helpful advice. Lot's to think about!
Yes, there really is a lot to think about. Glad you are doing the research and thinking it through. If this life calls you, then it will be a good experience. Whatever you do, it's all about living life to the fullest. Thanks for watching and for your comment.
It’s a good life, IF you are both agreed on it, ......this video is RIGHT ON, fact-wise.....We are retired , full-time R.V’ers, after spending 11 1/2 years on the road, (working in one area for 6 months, each year, either in the summer or in the winter, & wife is a cancer survivor in the midst of this time)
People, R.V’ers, older & wiser than us, told us, during our first year, that “if you’re serious about this, do it between the ages of 60 to 80, as MOST of us have health issues, after that age.......they were right!
@@LizAmazing I agree 100%. At age 89 I know that having to do all the RV chores is what keeps me moving.
Thank you both. I'm in the process of starting the RV living life and currently in the learning stage.
Great video as always! Thanks for sharing this with us!
Thank you for watching! We hope you don't quit this RV life!!
Awww, thanks so much. And yes, we'd love to meet you, too! Agreed that giving things time is a great strategy. See you in the next one!

Awww, thanks so much! We love having you with us on our journey!
Good information, thank you! Paul, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your lifelong friend. Words cannot convey how hard it must be to go through such a tragedy.
Take care,
Wally
Wally, thank you for your kind thoughts. And yes, it's hard getting used to losing friends.
We were guilty of #5 for sure. When we started our full-time rv life, we didn’t treat it as a vacation, but we did move waaaay too much. Slowing down has sooo many benefits!
(Maybe a future video idea’r 😉)
Yep! I think everyone needs to find their sweet spot of how often to travel. For us it's about ten days.
Oh! I would not have guessed! I would have figured that you’re a bit more stationary. Cool beans!
Me and my husband bought a 42ft Montana last year as a 2nd home, until our home is built, on the Waccamaw River in North Carolina but we enjoy it on the weekends.
When 2nd home is built we want to start traveling,
I CANT WAIT !!!
Wow! Sounds like you have so much to look forward to. Hope to see you on the road!
BLM has tons of free campsites all over the US
I think if you find the pace that works for you then that will be fine. Just find your happy place pace!!!

Sorry for your loss Paul. As you mentioned we can't take good health for granted. Enjoy your journey and stay safe.
Yes. Health is the be all and end all. Thanks for watching!

So very sorry Paul about your friend. That is very hard.
Look at that gracious loss to the domino game! ❤️

lol! And he was being nice! Thanks for your condolences. It was so sudden Paul still can't believe he's gone.
Wow Lauren I would take it but it has to best for all involved. Good luck

Hi Deb! We feel very lucky indeed to have found each other. Thanks for your kind words and hugs to you.
Agree with your RV experience sentiments. One huge factor for me was finding the right park matchup for the space renter. If you have a mismanaged RV park, forget about enjoying a more leisurely life style. It will be a constant conflicted visit.

Hello from HTSAYTC group. My fear is that I'd get bored out of my mind since I'm single.
Lots of social out on the road, even with covid. We know people who travel with other solo-ers. One thing you will be doing less of is housework! It takes no time at all to clean the RV, freeing you up to live life more. Congrats on almost 2000 subs on your channel!!
Y’all seem like sweet people. I enjoy your content. Thanks for posting.

My Bride and I would never do this .... but... you gave others the info they needed to make a logical decision. THANK YOU! Very impressive.
You are so welcome, very kind of you to comment!
Agreed. It's much better to enjoy the journey and build in plenty of time to relax and explore. We, too, like a week to two weeks.
Sorry for your loss Paul. You two are good people.Your happiness shows. I now have the hubby listening when I watch your videos. How long does it take to make one video?
Hi Deb, thanks for watching and commenting! Each video takes about 3-5 days. I made one that took 76 hours to edit!
@@LizAmazing WOW! 76 hours is a lot.
You guys are so practical and seem to really enjoy being together. Good topic for consideration....
Hi Jim! Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Nice to hear from you again. Be safe.
@@LizAmazing Hope to see you two out 'n' about sometime....take care! Be safe.
Thanks so much, you are so kind! And lots of wise words here in your comment. Glad you have been out enjoying this life!
Sorry to hear about your close friend that passed away. 🙏 I just lost my mom a few weeks ago. I was really close to her. ❤️.
Thanks so much. And sorry about your mom. Hugs to you.
I'm fully committed to fulltime with a newer diesel tow vehicle and a 2021 Lance 2375 t.t.. Retiring in July and discovering my 1st challenge of downsizing and setting up the trailer.
Congrats on you upcoming retirement! Sounds like you have lots to look forward to. Hope to see you out here!
@@LizAmazing Thanks. I've followed you both for awhile and made a previous comment about how you two met and found yourselves. A great story. Thanks again Jim C.
Jim C. Thanks for watching. We’re glad you’re here.
That sounds like the perfect setup for you! Glad you are living your best life, it's really all it's about. Happy travels!
I could feel your loss when you talked about your friend who passed. My sympathies to you and your friend's family. Appreciate the video content. Thank you!
Hi and thanks so much. Losing a good friend is hard. It's a reminder for all of us that life is far too short.
Thank you for info
Sorry for your friends loss

Awww, thanks so much. Hugs to you!
