    ✅ In This Video
Fulltime RV-ers Liz and Paul share what's not so great about living on the road in a camper. If you are thinking about living in your travel trailer, motorhome or fifth wheel fulltime, here are some things to consider.
1:07 Mail issues: sending and receiving letters, packages, supplies and replacement parts, etc.
2:30 Realise all the things you have to give up. Due to lack of space. Hobbies like sewing, mechanics, etc.
    3:28 Laundry
    5:03 Constantly in close contact.
7:02 Rent an RV and spend a week or two to see if you really fo like.
10:18 Lack of community, friends, Internet, Cell Service, television and Cablevision. Sometimes you have too much solitude and you will get lonely.

We had our onboard generator go down on us and we were told it would cost $2000 just to remove it and look @ it. We ended up getting one from Lowes and with the COVID-19 we all have had some very unexpected costs. (My hubby used to work on Agri buggies and equipment so he had already gone through the simple things.)

Well, we have a lot of kitchen stuff: iron skillets, a massive blender, coffee grinder and a a bunch of tools- and that's just Paul! I have professional cameras, tripods, a drone, a lounger, a mixer, baking pans, we definitely do NOT travel light! But at least now have a rig plenty big to accommodate.

I would recommend a portable washing machine and spin dryer. They are very small a load can take 5-10 mins and you hook it up to your sink. 😊

I had one worked great, I kept it outside near the water hook up. But if you have space, I have and suggest you think about getting a washer and dryer set . It makes a difference, you can wash 2 towels and 2 sets of clothes ( not jeans) . It can be 15 min quick wash, 30 for a load as above and 2 sheets pillow cases and 1 towel, I like to be very specific on how and what I wash, but the key is you can do washing and drying at the same time. Get your life back, and no nasty dryer lint or moldy washers, and the cost. You can adjust the spin cycle accordingly to your load. You won’t be sorry

I bought as pandemic was setting in. Works great on kitchen counter, and is quite durable. I skipped the spin drying function on washer in favor of stand-alone spin dryer, very sturdy type, and line dry afterwards. Once every 3 months or so I bring big things like sheets and blankets and kitchen towels that might be greasy to a very clean and modern laundromat with wifi. Amazon has great reviews on some of these items which are quite detailed with advice/how-to-use, I had my doubts but it is a great system. I use this in small residence now but am eyeing the RV life as well after the pandemic, and expect to continue to use these.

I fell like this is one of the best videos out there. My fiance and I want to go RVing but we've only been together for a year and are just beginning to live together. Now I can see why people wait until they're older to do this. We need more time to grow together before we isolate ourselves in an RV for an extended time.
    Thank you so much!!!

I already sold my home! I have lived one year in my RV. Class C 31 foot with my disabled son who is 29 years old. I live in a RV Park right on the lake. I am good right now getting used to RV life stabilized. I have bought things for the road when that happens. Solar Generator, down sizing even more with just the things in my RV. I do have a nice set up on patio by lake with Gazebo, storage small heavy plastic bldg, dog area I have 4 dogs and a bird. Yes I do the same thing I used to have China Cabnet with every Crystal & China, special silverware...etc. I do miss all that. I don't miss the keep up of my home, and all the STUFF IN THE GARAGE!! I JUST WENT ALL OUT, SOLD HOME WENT INTO RV. I was done with staying one place, money into home, clean, clean, clean!! It takes me 10 minutes to clean inside when all is kept up. Outside I blow leaves.

Thank you for making these very informative videos. My parents were RVer’s even before it was popular. We had a converted bus way back in 1965 and I can remember it had a toilet and holding tanks. In 1975 when I was 15 they bought a stripped down Dodge Maxi-Van, tossed a mattress in it and a portable Coleman stove and cooler. I had a Walmart tent and away we went. 3-months, Mount Rushmore, Sequoia, Yosemite, The Space Needle, Yellowstone, Cody Wyoming and so on. So much fun. They went through travel trailers, pop-ups, a Champion Motor RV and had just bought a 5th Wheel when my Pop passed away in 1998.
We live in FL. I too have the wondering spirit and have suggested to my wife that we save and spend money for something livable to travel ½ year to a cooler summer climate. My kids split mortgage with us so we would not be giving up residential life entirely. Does this sound like a good way to begin?

Hi there! Sounds like your parents were adventurers! What great memories you must have from those trips! Yes, it does seem you are limiting your risk by starting out again and going for six months, while still hanging on to your house. For the first few trips, stay close to home so you can make any modifications needed, plus off-load what you end up not using. Happy travels!

It astonishes me to see huge RVs by the 1000 going this way and that. The people must be very rich.I started life in a 10ft x 12 ft room and was ill. The RV depicted is as long as our house. Am also pretty tired at looking at landscapes and cityscapes. If I was forced to do a RV life I would find a site which had Water and Electric and a sewage arrangement.then put the vehicle on a hard standing Take the weight and then store wheels under cover. I would make sure the site is near to some built up area. Yes you then need a cheap car., Was thinking of putting a tarp over the unit in winter. But theres the windows to consider. The other plan I might have is to get large or ample barn and stick the RV inside. This I reckon is best, I dont know the laws in US so am dreaming. I did not see whether the couple have a second vehicle. Most of this is conjecture. Nice to see holding hands. I need more info. Why am I cautious? Its because I had a life of failure stress, disappointment which kept step with massive efforts. Have noticed on other RV shows no one seems to have or read a newspaper. Also no one even mentions what is going on in the area or country. They just chat about their own ambition and lives.Have not seen anyone yet at their wits end., No one mentioned the press reports of Trump being pursued by 26 women on sex grounds. Nor does anyone notice that his father made manoy from properyty speculation and prostitution. Also it seems people are not aware of the writing analysis we did and found a tendancy similar to that of the 3rd Reich upper levels. We indicate aggression. The level of crrptn in UK is at epidemic levels and we ourselves are experiencing police attacks because of the evidence that the BBC advised to hide it abroad. We found that all HM prefix orgs were implicated as is the HM Courts. We experienced death threats from the US security firms here. Thats the firms that beat, shot workers in 19th C US. Seems to me that the public cant be trusted when voting. Why dont we expose it? The entire media and press has told us they wont print any of it. Social media like face book, destroys the accounts and mails. We have no access to health system or welfare. No reply from 2 HM MPs. No reply from 25 Universities. The people in this road social distance is 50 meters upwards. I laid here in terrible pain for 7 yrs screaming in agony. No help. The Local Govt here say this- "If Theres Anything Wrong With Local Govt You Have To Go Get A Lawyer".Forgot to mention the horrific US Cities No wonder they raped.killed.tortured.burned to death the orig US poulation..Have a nice day.Wish we had one.

I used some of the proceeds to upgrade to a better RV and put the rest in savings. I think it can be cheaper to live in an RV if you do it right. One thing that helps us is we camp at resorts for an annual average of under $5 a day and know people who do it for under $2 a day. Here's how: ua-cam.com/video/cbZC97DWFe8/v-deo.html

I have a washer and dryer in my Grand Design TT and almost none of the things you talked about applies. Yes it shakes the rig a little but no more than a strong wind. I also have a natures head composting toilet so my black tank has never been used as a black tank so I can do laundry while boondocking using biodegradable soap so I can actually let it run out on and into the ground. Also am a disabled vet so I am can stay at a parks on military base for $400 per month all utilities included. I do live alone and maybe someday I will get lucky like you two did. I have both ATT and Verizon unlimited so usually one or the other will work for internet. I also have a tv service that only costs me $10 per month and is an android app that gives me all stations including all hbo, showtime etc. so I can usually watch that anywhere I am. If I can't I just read. I much prefer the Travel trailer to a fifth wheel as I can use my truck bed with a camper shell and a place to stay when I take shorter trips.

      @LizAmazing  4 роки тому +1

Hi Larry, sounds like you have the perfect setup for you. We love how the fifth wheel pulls...especially on windy days. I bet that's a tradeoff you are willing to make since you can use the extra storage in your truck bed-- and use it as a mini camper!
Glad to hear about the washer/dryer. Someday we may get one in the RV so it's good to know that there are ways to make it work.
I am grateful that I got to do this life solo before meeting Paul. What I learned is to be friendly to EVERYONE and that is the best avenue to finding a partner. I had ruled out Paul as too old but we remained friends...and you know the rest of the story!

Yes a we boost can turn 1 bar into 3 and Verizon has the best coverage but there will always be places where even that doesn't work. Some people have 2 plans AT&T plus Verizon but that gets expensive. Take Heart 5G and starlink will one day give us internet everywhere but not today. It does continue to get better. Plus there is a huge difference in weboost systems. Mine has a 25 foot mast that attaches to the side of the RV and the directional antenna draws a much better signal but you have to aim it in the right direction. When you do have internet I use sling TV to get TV. So yes internet is a big deal.

One of the best things about this video is I am able to plan on how to answer each of those things you talked about. I am going full time next year and I know the answers to some of the things on your list. But I need to focus on the ones I don't have the answer to. We have lived in our 5th wheel for a year now. We rented out our house to a family member and we have a pad with full hookups in the backyard. COVID has made us planted for a while. When we went to Alaska last year, it was sometimes difficult to find a decent laundromat. (Especially in Seward, Alaska. It was always jam packed). So for me, my #1 drawback is the laundry issue. For my husband, he says some things are a handicap but not drawbacks. We love this lifestyle.

Hi Kathy! Yes, we do, too! Right now I am sitting on a bench outside the laundromat. While it is not my favorite part, it is a very small part of the RV life. We do laundry every 7-10 days. I always bring my computer so I am occupied. We want to go to Alaska someday-- good for you that we went. Agreed that Covid has changed the way RVers travel. In regards to your laundry issue, there are actually some small electric washers you can definitely use in your RV shower. I found mine for $100 on Amazon a few years ago but I have seen them in big box stores since. You can then spin them to nearly dry in the same unit. You can hang your clothes after or pay for a dryer. It isn't a perfect solution, but it works if you do not have access to laundry services! It saved me so much time, labor, and money when I lived in the middle of nowhere.

Hi Rozela, That's awesome, thanks so much. I do believe I will get one of those little washers one of these. Doing laundry has turned into an "event" that takes up much of the day bc we have to go to a laundromat and do it all. Would be nice to just drop a small load in at home in the rig, and then just go about my day. Thanks again and have a super weekend!

I know it is an older post, but do you have any recommendation as to the brand of this small electric washer? We are going full-time RV, decided for no W/D for the same reasons explained in the video. However, I have a very bad allergy to synthetic fragrances. Laundromats use strongly scented products both for washers and dryer that would "contaminate" my sheets or clothes. Thank you!

And here I sit in a campground with not one but two woodworking shops! That's not the norm, but it is pretty cool that not only is there that but a big building for crafts and sewing. Thanks for watching Cassandra and see you in the next video.

Interesting to see what some people value. I always say RV life is humbling. You learn to appreciate having less to deal with and drag around from stuff to people. Although you can never do to much research before hitting the road. I know I wish I'd have watched more videos like this ;-)

Glad to see you both back; I was getting concerned! We are new full-timers, previously having camped for 3 months. My biggest challenge is maintaining a healthy lifestyle and a fitness regimen. The fridge is small, so stocking lots of fresh fruit and veg is iffy...have been trying some “longer life” veg like brussel sprouts. As for exercise, yes, we walk a lot, but I miss the discipline of an in-person yoga class. We tried to work around this with Planet Fitness memberships, but those are obviously on hold during Covid! Just have to keep trying new options! Take care.

Hi Eileen! Yes, I miss the gym, too. I am not as in good shape as I was when I lived in a house. But...I am now doing morning jogs so maybe that will help. Red cabbage (or regular) is a good supplement or alternative to leaf lettuce or spinach. It lasts longer and people say it does not need refrigeration. And glad to know you missed us! If you ring the bell under our video you will get a notification every time we post. Paul and I hope to meet you on the road someday- stay well and take care.

Great tips. My wife and I have a nice 5th wheel that is parked in a mobile home park at our lake. It's our home away from home for now. No cell service, limited TV, but it's on a lake with our boat on the dock. We have kicked around the idea of traveling once we are done working. It's almost like we're doing a sort of trial run now, and after some of the pitfalls you mentioned, we're glad we're easing into it. Nicely done!

Thank you very much. My wife and I are researching the lifestyle and this is helpful! I thought of satelites the moment you mentioned number one. There are celleur signal boosters/repeaters available that may work, but I have not tested. Maybe some on the thread has...again thank you!

Glad to hear you guys are researching this life. We love it! Hope you cam take it for a test drive before jumping in. Just know the possibilities for this life are endless and controllable by you: how big of an RV, how often you travel, where to go, etc.

We have a satellite on top of our rig. For Internet we have a Verizon Hot Spot. Also most parks have Wii Fii service. We have lived in our rig 8 years and have never lost a signal. Direct TV will follow you all over the country. This life is not for the faint of heart. Do have a repair budget. Rigs are not made to live in 24/7. For years at a time. We are very lucky, my husband can fix anything. We buy the parts and he does the repair. So much cheaper than a repair shop.
