I know all the brothers were talented, but for me Barry was the man. The greatest singer songwriter the world has ever heard.

Wonder if Barry realizes how much he is loved and respected. The Bee Gees worked very hard and created so many hit songs.
For the musicians: I had to go figure out what the synth is doing in Jive Talking for myself. It's in 7/4 over a 4/4 groove. It repeats the phrase four times and resolves on the "1" when the vocals come back in. Freaking brilliant.
For me growing up in the 60's The BEE GEES were even more formative than the BEATLES. The span of their musical topics was relentlessly original and I recognized them as TRUE SOUL SINGERS as they rarely, if ever recorded a song they did not compose themselves. Add to this the incredible vocalists who either had hit records with their compositions or branded the original in a definitive new light. The Beatles were a soaring comet whose lifespan was cut short, whereas the BEE GEES shown brightly for 6 decades and their songs will be played for all eternity and reimagined by younger artist perhaps who today are unaware of their musical genius.
You’d think from this interview that all these great songs just happened. It takes somebody with a great amount of talent (and a fair amount of humility) to make what they do seem so easy.

The speed of Stayin' Alive is used as a guide for how fast to pump when CPR is taught because everyone knows the song, the title is relevant, and the pace is spot on. It is amazing that people are alive because of it. What a gift.

I agree Barry is a musical genius and a humble man . Musically the Gibb brothers were one of the greatest composers and performers in pop history. These days nothing like them comes close .
I agree they where the best and the most beautiful, no big egos.
People tease and diss on the Bee Gees for their 70s disco era but Barry Gibb is one of the most prolific songwriters of his time. He deserves to be up their with McCartney and Lennon. The guy could write a hook. I'm always blown away by something when I listen to their tunes. There is always something that pops up and surprises me that I missed.
Barry and his brothers are up there since long time ago. Their music catalogue is the most prolific catalogue in the world. It's as simple as that
@@peacenowar4886 - I'm glad Barry acknowledged for example that "Massachusetts" was Robin's idea. Robin also wrote the lyrics for "Stayin Alive" on his plane ticket on the Concorde after reading a newspaper about violence in NYC. It was a societal commentary. Too many people just assume Barry wrote everything. They were all partners.

Barry is one of the most brilliant people to ever walk the planet.
Glen Frey once said that he would like the Eagles to be remembered for "doing the work". Clearly this is why Barry, Robin and Maurice were so prolific because they did the work. All the talent will mean nothing if you don't do the work.

I said Stayin’ Alive and she said oh, the song we do chest compressions to? 😁😄🥰 I always wondered if Barry knew about this. Now I know he does! ❤

Stayin Alive is still used for CPR to this day. Its because it is exactly the same beat as you are supposed to pump the heart during resuscitation and since everybody knows the song its an easy way to remember what rhythm and speed you are supposed to use in an emergency
Robin wrote the lyrics for "Stayin' Alive" on the Concorde after reading a newspaper about violence in New York City in the 70's. It was a scary time.

I loved hearing how the Bee Gees got started, how they evolved, and how some of their greatest songs came to be! It was hilarious hearing about Barry Gibb's discovery of his falsetto voice!
Early Bee Gees is pop genius as well as the later music.
If this video explored all of their great songs it would be fifty hours long 🌈
Barry is one of the coolest guys on the planet.
I’m an ICU nurse and ALWAYS hum this song while I’m doing compressions. The timing is just as critical as the compressions themselves. The song is practically the standard for teaching compression timing when you’re getting certified in basic and advanced cardiac life support.

I just smiled and enjoyed my way through this. . I just drove by his house a couple weeks ago and I thought I would love to see him coming out of his driveway sometime when I was driving by there. If it was another day and time I would love to shake his hand and thank him for all the beautiful music that he has (and his brothers of course) touched so many people’s hearts with.

@@RideAcrossTheRiver Of Dennis' drum-work for "Night Fever." He had to fly to Scotland to be with his dying mother during recording work on Stayin' Alive in that French chalet-studio, so the engineers Albhy and Carl selected a part of the drumming for Night Fever which already was "in the can."
@RideAcrossTheRiver But Stayin' Alive is the only one that's a loop, and they pulled it from Dennis' drumming on Night Fever.

Bee Gees in the late 60s and early 70s was amazing! I keep finding so many top tunes from back then.
I like that Barry finally recognizes the fact that they did falsetto on "Please Read Me" which is a great song, by the way. The narrative was that "Nights on Broadway" was the first falsetto- but I agree with the larger point that the "Nights on Broadway" falsetto was substantively different as it was not part of a harmony and led to it being used for lead vocals, like on "Fanny be Tender".

Staying Alive is a great dance track.
Barry survived the ride of extreme celebrity and fame, he has a great wife and family that I'm sure had a part of his survival.
Barry has a beautiful wife, who I am sure helped get over the hard times.
I'm pushing 55 this year and all my life, if I needed to get a song out of my head I'd think of "How deep is your love". I Never get tired of hearing it.
That song can bring me to tears.

🥀Amazing interview with Barry Gibb he's so creative and so was his Brothers. I've been listening to them since the 60's on up so I know the feeling of the changes they went through over the years in sound tracks ect: everytime I listen to any of their song's I can feel the lyrics and relate to the song. I know when I'm not feeling well I listen to music and I start to feel better, I was born into music by my Dad he was inducted into the Country music hall of fame and honor in Macon Ga singer song writer writer in 1987 so anytime I needed to relax I'd sleep to music. Brothers Bee Gees knew exactly what they were doing every step of the way in the music industry. I seen them in Atlanta Ga in 1975 on 2nd row they were so Amazing oh yeah I love these Guy's so much and I miss Andy, Maurice and Robin Gibbs I loved them too. If you were alive and over the age of 8, you understood this is something that you wanted to hear. What's really interesting about that statement would be the vocal melody and range was high falsetto yet soothing !!! The Gibbs were blessed with a certain something ;) The greatest part of the Bee Gees.... Never replicated .. And never should be... Disregard Justin Timberlake hehe...

Indeed! Retired RN here and we used “Staying Alive” beat for doing compressions to save patients in the ER and Trauma Surgical ICU where I worked!!! Us RNs also thought of how beautiful and handsome Barry Gibb was and IS!!!! 👏🏼♥️😊✨

I love this song as well as all other Bee Gees songs, and it is true that medical profession uses Stayin’ Alive rhythm for proper CPR count of recommended 100-120 chest compressions to the song’s 104 beats per minute!
