Every long-lived career in music is defined by a set of game-changing markers-you might call them "before and after moments." For Matt McBriar and Andy Ferguson, AKA Bicep, the most significant of these took place on September 1st, 2017, when their self-titled debut album landed on Ninja Tune. Before its release, the Belfast duo were successful gigging DJs with a cult blog, a popular label and a handful of killer productions to their name-hits like "Just" and "Vision Of Love." The LP added two notable strings to their bow: a fresh suite of anthems ("Aura," "Orca," "Glue") and a festival-ready live show. Within a few weeks, Bicep went from DJing in sweaty nightclubs to performing their own music live at venues, festivals and concert halls all over the world.
Bicep's globetrotting tour reached a pinnacle in late November, when they headlined and sold out three nights at London's Printworks, an achievement that put them in a small group of live electronic acts capable of pulling such big crowds. On Friday, November 23rd, on one of their final shows of the run and their last live gig in London until 2020, we captured their performance from start to finish. Onstage, McBriar and Ferguson stood facing each other, their heads bowed in focus while their hands glided at speed across numerous bits of gear. The 90-minute video is a euphoric rush of melody, breakbeats and vocals, adorned with dozens of lasers and devoured by a 3000-strong audience.

Does anyone else find this hits on a deep spiritual level?
I think if you were there when this was taking place you would reconsider everything..
Omg it's another level I'm a pink Floyd fan but there vibe is different this is something else ❤😅

Old raver here - came via the Glue video my kids showed me. Deffo brought them up right.

Was gonna say, you’ve got them on the good stuff 👍🏻

Same as that
nice
It’s essential to come back to this video every so often
Noursishment of the soul 👌
❤️
The opening of this set is just amazing.
every few months it pops up in my feed, have to play it all the way through
💯💯💯💯
After careful consideration I have come to the conclusion that this is, in fact, the best video on youtube.
tears of euporia almost every time
Not to sound like a party pooper but the full set is a bit drawn out and slow at times.. but the end.. the end is the best thing on UA-cam. The last 2 tracks give me a semi.
I want to click like but you've got 303 and I don't want to ruin that 😊
I have a specialist sitting next to me, and he agrees! The science is in, people!

Lol me at Idris Elba's AMF after hours set
I am 53. This i a higher level of house/trance music than the world has ever see. Their control in the depth is way beyond. I know these guys agonise for months to get the sound on a tune correct. You can hear where the extra work has gone in. The extra work is not aimed at dancing but the soul itself. Congratulations to the world for having these guys thought at our hearts.
A higher level
this is the most wonderful comment. you put it so beautifully. i love the part of, this has nothing to do with dancing, this is about the soul. i saw them at glastonbury two weekends ago and my soul was AFLAME. one love!
Orbital have been doing this since the early 90s at least.
53, you are a bot.

Yeah no doubt. Insane.
This must be at least my 10th time watching this, anyone else?
Edit: Definitely on at least 25 now!
One of my favourite live albums of all time.
Yep, I’m already on my fifth now and I’m sure where will be more
I've lost count lol. Rinsed it at least 50 times on SoundCloud.
Same lol
I end up listening to this at work about every other week since it was released!
Who else keep coming back to this set 🙋🏼♂️
Me;)
I hope you get this notification to watch it again
will always do
I'd literally be chasing my jaw around the Printworks rather than filming it! This is why I'm so glad we never filmed our every move in the 90's 😅
I genuinely don't know if i'm the only one, but no matter how many times I've listened any of their tunes I just can't get sick of them and every single time it's as if i'm hearing them for the first time and I feel emotional and get goosebumps. This set. Insane. x x x
you are certainly not alone buddy.

They are just too good

That orca intro 👏🏻
Adam Francis YESSS!!!

Adam Francis god yes!!! i discovered this song because of this set and it’s so sad the original version doesn’t include this intro :(
So dramatic ❤️
Spiritual ❤️💪
Bicep if one of you are reading this, I want to let you know that when I was at this event I realised you have created something that bypasses the brain and connects directly with the inner soul, it releases our ancient instincts to mystify and dance to the incredible melody. Now readers you may see the crowd in a slow state but this not because they are bored, oh no, they are feeling the BICEP MAGIC
neek
I'm not one to talk of soul or mysticism but damnn if it's not good music anyway.
When the drugs hit
hahahahaha bhudda knight what a wally

i mourn for the people who will never have the pleasure of feeling this masterpiece
Exactly
Bicep are the best electronic duo in music industry right now...10/10 production, emotional pads, trippy & euphoric melodies & an amazing combo of house, techno & breaks.
Their live shows also is an unique experience.
❤️
first off the venue looks amazing, second whoever did the sound and stage setup did a fantastic job, third the light show and visuals and camera work are all top notch, great job production team.
Couldnt agree more, didnt know these guys or the venue but first sing I said was that the venue and lighting was sick
I so want to work on productions like this. Been studying production in HND for the last year but it's all in theatre...
I've been to Printworks twice (Pendulum and Deadmau5), and I can confirm that it is an amazing venue - best I've ever been to.
Agreed, immaculate job.
yes
Well 46 years old and this is fantastic. Kraftwerk, Chicago house, Acid house, early techno and goa mixed in to an modern pulsating machine. Pure electronic love!
I'm almost 40 and I still love this stuff just as much as I did when I was 18.
Would you like to go raving
I'm getting strong Kraftwerk vibes here, the sounds are complex, yet sound simple.
Agreed. I hate when gold like this is called rave. Give it the respect it deserves.
@Se Lr ppl
Remember.........freedom
no fear in crowds
just love
Something very fitting about them closing Printworks for the final time, big up the Belfast boys
id probably cry if i was to witness Bicep - Glue live :(
I heard it in their DJ set and was bawling.
Adam M this is on my fucking bucket list. Would just be so sick
I cried watching it here
Also cried watching it here
reason its so good is because it sounds like jungle and not house
1:18:00 onwards, endless goosebumps
whats happening b0aty, 26:05 for me is peak
0:00:00 onwards tbh
24 hour stream on e's plz
Were you there Adam? Saw tham at Leeds 2018 and they were unreal, Printworks is such a sick venue, going back next month

It’s 2022 .. post lockdown ..I’m going to see bicep in June and July at two separate festivals. I can’t wait ⚡️⚡️⚡️💪💪💪
Bicep -orca is so underrated
54 years young and I love this mix ,fucking quality 😁
We're all that girl at 1:23:54 who blows a kiss and says "I love you" to Bicep at the end of Glue. 💪🏼❤️💪🏼
if she breathes
"I hate you"))
No, no, we wanna be the guy that has that woman on the end of us at the end of the show. :-)
I'm 42. Have been raving at techno party's from the nightties. This takes me back to these amazing nights that chanced my live. Now I'm getting emotional... This is creme de la crème. ❤️❤️🎧🎵❤️🎶🎼❤️❤️
Almost forgot to listen to it today...
This is beyond words. I listen to it so frequently, to work out, to chill out, to get lost in... It literally is the language of the universe. All existence is vibration at atomic level, and this composition of sound is so breathtakingly beautiful that it just resonates with the soul.
Genuinely can't describe how it speaks so me, all I know is I will never tire. It always sounds fresh and energetic.
I think Bicep unlocked some special code here, these guys are utter wizardry on the decs, potetry in motion.
Yessss 🙌💫 I agree
❤️
best comment award. You're amazing sir
My thoughts exactly. Stunning true message. Top man😎
YES Tim!! Feeling that!
Anyone still watching this? getting myself excited for the new album and hopefully to see them live again when this is all over.
This is the only thing I want post lockdown
Life.
I will never understand why people are filming when they rave...for Instagram or what? To show other people that they were at this party? I'm so happy that I raised in Berlin and that it's not allowed in Techno Clubs to film...the vibe is much better and you feel more safe without cameras...it makes me aggressive when I see some tourists are filming.
Enjoy the rave..its much better when you have good memories from that time than a fucking video where the quality is never the same.
Well said
Its not a rave
Raised in Belgium clubbing from 1992, fuck cameras
Saigon John what is it then?
It's to look back on it and remember the time, I think filming the whole thing is a waste but filming 30 seconds of a 90 minute set isn't gonna take away from the experience much
Best Christmas gift ever
This set reminds me of old Sasha sets from the late 90s - early 00s. Gold.
Very observant
Northern Exposure vibes!
Exactly who popped into my mind while listening!
Link?
gotta link it
I heard Glue at closing party at Printworks when Camelphat played and now I am fan of Bicep
Glue and Apricot touched my soul, made me cry and laugh at same time !
It’s just unique experience listening to Bicep! It’s magic !✨
Melting music
I'm an oldie , been there late 80's and right through the 90's (yup djing too) BUT this.....up there with the best of them , hats off to BICEP 🙌
This reminded me of the glorious 90's - early 00's days. I thought no new live set could impress me nowadays... but I was wrong. I watch this again and again. Bicep are kins.
Fabric
It was by far the best event I have ever been to, Dahlia into Aura was mind boggling
I envy you so much man
Opal info dhalia is even better !
2023 and STILL coming back to this video
Such lucky people to have been alive and in that place at that exact moment, canny wait to be allowed to be closer then 2mtrs to another human and sweat next to people enjoying some good music at loud volumes again x
Bicep are legends in the way they put elements together, each type of element has only one "and only" element, different layers but they are smooth in the ears, when you listen to the music, nothing is complex, complete simplicity and minimalist. Pad, key, and beats, drums are easy-going. When you focus you will notice the layering phase of each track, but only when you try to focus and recognize.
Bicep will always inspire me, they just show that being an electronic music producer doesn't need anything but creativity and having that simple mindset with the music theory.
i support simplicity in Techno and d&b. I'm tired of nowadays artists trying to complete with each others in a complex way "AKA WHO MAKES A MORE COMPLEX TRACK".
Bicep said "F Y'ALL WE WANT YOU TO EXPECT THE MUSIC AND WE WANT YOUR BODY TO BE DANCING EASILY".
Hats off legends
A lotta people on their phones because they wanna record such a gigantic set and probably didn't know it was being filmed. Sure it takes you outta the zone for maybe like a minute or two, but its like a very quick photograph. And it means you get to keep something beyond just the experience (which is still there anyway!).
Regardless, this set is unbelievable. And shout out every single design element, because I don't know what more I could want from an electronic music set rn.
Bicep 2017/2018 is the biggest, most noticeable act that has left a noticeable mark in the shaping of the global underground sound of the last decade. My 2 cents.
Bicep has this ability to play perfect frequencies and sounds to connect to your body and soul !
Fucking sublime. I've seen them live 3 times now, just blow me away to the point of tears, they are that good. Just LOVE their unique sound, it's everything I love about dance music in one.
I have cried a few times waychinf these fellas absolute scenes ✨
I just want to see them ONCE at least. Fuck me.

Same. I had a ticket for their May visit to Brooklyn and I’m heartbroken

These guys are in my opinion the best musicians to walk the earth today.
Saw them in Athens few days ago... no words for the sound and the feelings... such a party!
Just darken your room and enjoy❤
Listened to orca countless of times but hearing the live remix at Printworks and then having it in my head for weeks after trying to think of what track it was... then hearing it as the intro track has had me in tears 😭😭😭
Same my friend.cant wait to see then in London this weekend coming
This whole set is just a phenomenal master piece. What a sound ,Bicep.
I can't stop loving the version of "JUST" in this set... it's... pffff...

Quite cool. It's got a trance melody, a techno groove to it, and a house structure
It’s all about Glue! The track gives you goosebumps and takes you straight back to the early 90’s
What with thT 2steppy beat.
Just found these guys by accident scrolling through the Glastonbury coverage on the BBC. Absolutely blown away by how incredible they are. So much I want to say but I don’t have the words to do them justice.
Saw them for the first time in Margate Dreamland yesterday. Ineffable experience. Music hitting your soul and making you feel so many emotions to the point it’s overwhelming. The magic of music and these guys are real magicians. Thank you Bicep - I could have cried tears of eternal bliss to Saku and Glue.
What fucking rock have I been living under to miss this immensely entertaining set!?
I used to trip all the time at gigs like this imagining images like that dolly shot going left to right on the front row past people dancing. And I'd just have that simple vision in my head and smile. Then at home when trying to get to sleep I would see an ever-changing sea of faces in the crowd lit by purple light. Thanks for the flashback.
I was originally impressed that this video had over 3 million views, but then I remembered that at least 2.5m of them were me
Just every once in a while I come back to this....just to remember the good times
I’ve been to tiesto, state of trance, AVH, Sasha etc but I’d happily have swapped any of them for this, This isn’t just music, it’s the whole atmosphere being created, the lights, ambience, the people around you. It’s an experience different to what you’d get with others in the same category. I’d give my left bollock to have been there
just discovered this in 2021. Damn, this knocked me off my feet. This is 85 min pure emotion. Laughing, screamin, happines, sadness,... it's all in there man. This set makes you love life.
Press Repeat button:)
I spent the whole of 2021 on 🐎 and ❄️ listening to this everyday
Being old (and lucky) enough to have been around to remember the rave scene booming and the mid nineties madness....Glue has some kind of magic sauce, it REALLY resonates and reminds me of all that. What a time to be alive.
Saw them this summer in France. I wasn't supposed to go check them out because Justice was playing at the same fn time. But I decided at the very last to give them a try while I was completely on drugs. This was the best decision of my life.
sounds right!
you definitely made the right call

The Higher Level Remix 2 is a sample of Loleatta - Dish Apella by Ellis D from 1987. Bicep sampled the "I'm gonna diss you right now" in their MixxMaster 88. Absolute savages.
I haven't felt this way since Exit Planet Dust.
sooooo many phones, you dont know how lucky you are to see that set, put the phone down and enjoy it. Incredible work as always with Bicep, the absolute pinnacle of electronic dance music xxxxxx
Joshua Ellis - Some people wanna just take a few videos though so they can look back on it and remember one of the sickest nights of their life. But do agree when people got it out constantly
X X X, the whole set has been recorded on HD video! Why on earth do you need a crappy phone vid? 😂
@@harmrhebergen I go to a lot of festivals and events where the set isn't recorded. So one point is you don't know if it is recorded. Another is that I like to take a few videos so i can look back on the night in future. I will only take 1 or 2 short videos though! Don't stay on my phone for longer at all
I dont mind people taking the occaisonal photo or video, even I do that. But when they wanna video the entire set AND use the flash on the camera it is fucking annoying. Really takes you out of it.
@@harmrhebergen because why would they assume that its being recorded. when i go to one of these things i usually take 2-3 vids of the night and enjoy the rest
