  • Description: Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) impacts the daily functioning of approximately 30% of cycling women. In this webinar, Board Certified Nutrition Specialist Amy Doyle will identify the different hormone patterns associated with PMS and review the interactions between the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal-Thyroid and Gonadal axes. A multi-modal approach that includes dietary and lifestyle interventions and the beneficial use of targeted nutritional supplements to address PMS will be presented.
    Learning Objectives:
    1. Summarize the regular hormone fluctuations during the menstrual cycle and patterns associated with PMS.
    2. Recognize the interactions between the Hypothalamic-Pituitary Adrenal (HPA) axis, the Hypothalamic-Pituitary Thyroid (HPT) axis and the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis as they relate to premenstrual symptoms.
    3. Understand the roles the gut microbiome, immune system, insulin and weight play in PMS.
