In this video I test out the Sony ZV E10 by actually vlogging with it!
I am realizing that I really love this camera as it makes is REALLY simple to vlog with!
I still need to familiarize myself with certain aspects of the camera as focus was missed in several parts of the video.

Man, you killed it with this vlog. Did you stabilize? I’ve had the ZV-E10 for a week now and when I saw you guys on that scooter I was like how is it that smooth? Your talking head spot at the end looked more like what I’ve been seeing with it in terms of little tell-tale shake here and there, so I was surprised to see how smooth some of your other footage was. I’ve been stabilizing in Catalyst Browse to avoid the big crop of active. Thumbs up on the vid, loved seeing the good footage and inspiration to create with a ZV-E10!

I did not stabilize the footage at all, this was straight out of the camera 📷!
The shot appeared steady because the background was moving quickly and the scene matched the shakiness of the camera 📷.
When there’s less movement in the scene, jitters will stand out more!
Personally speaking, I believe super steady shots (all the time) can be dull and boring! 🤷🏽♂️

It’s been a while but I don’t believe I used any external mic in this vlog!
I did however, do some post processing on the sound. Some we, compression and possibly gating to get the sound I was looking for.

Cool video. Good to see you with your daughter. Pure joy. I’ve been really struggling with which camera body to grab next, because I want to turn my a6400 into my b cam, and I want to get something that has stabilization as my main camera. I’ve been leaning towards the a6600, because I have all my lenses, and it would be great to have that battery, but I’ve also been thinking of going with the a7C. But this camera looks pretty cool too, I’m doing some serious research. I have to shoot a film all by myself, where I am also the only one in the film, and so I need to get a second body soon. We’ll see what happens. Thanks for all the insight, as always.
I’d say rent both before buying! This will give you a better understanding of how each one will for your needs!

@@PurposedLensPhotoMedia I might do that, although I know the a6600 would be fine for me, since I’m using the a6400, and I know that would just be a step up from where I am. The thing is..: I feel like if I try the full frame camera, it might open a can of worms for me and send me down an additional rabbit hole of lenses. 😏 We’ll see. Whatever I feel serves the work, that’s the way I’ll go. As of now, I’m leaning toward the a6600.

The fottage actually looks really steady to me, even considering no stabilizer was used at all. 🙂
I am considering to buy this lens, but i dont want to run all of my videos through catalyst browse, since i only is shooting home videos. I also prefer 1/50 shutter speed, compared to 1/200 when using catalyst browse.
Would you recommend this lens or another low focal lens with OSS?
And do you think that a handheld tripod makes a video look more stable, compared to a when you hold the camera as it is without a tripod? 🙂

I think the Sigma 16mm 1.4 is a great lens (even without stabilization.) There is also the Sony 18-105 F$ with OSS (optical Steady Shot). OSS makes a significant difference when trying to get rid of micro jitters (tiny vibrations).

what mic are you using?
i like the zve10 does it overheat ? because I shoot long ball games
I haven’t had it overheat.
I will say, if you are going to shoot outdoors on a sunny day, put a large umbrella ☂ over your camera and tripod to keep things under control!
Other than that, I don’t see it being a problem.

Your footage is way more stable than mine. Did you use steady shot, and/ or Catalyst Browse? I’m used to the Panasonic G95 stabilization, but the ZVE10 focuses so much easier.
I didn’t use any stabilization on this video. Using a wider lens and the fact that I was riding in a scooter helped to keep things smooth.
Tighter focal lengths are going to show more shaky footage. I hope this helps! 🙏🏽

Did you edit the final video using a LUT in regards to skin tone? How does the camera record accurate skin tone? I bought the gopro hero 9 black and I like it but the gopro destroys the skin tone and makes vlogging horrible. Great video by the way, i learned a lot about this camera
I typically don't use any picture profiles! The MAIN thing that I do is set a custom white balance using a grey card. This helps me make sure that my skin tones are right! I hope this helps! Thanks for commenting and supporting the channel! :)

how to deal with Jello effect (Rolling shutter)?
Whipping and panning the camera 📷 VERY quickly and unnaturally will produce rolling shutter issues!
I have used many of the aps-c camera and have yet to have rolling shutter be an “actual” issue.
If for some reason I did run into rolling shutter, not only is there a preset within premiere pro to fix it, but now also Sony’s “Catalyst Browse” fixes this as well.

I terms of options you get with the ZV E10.
In 4K you get 24 and 30fps
In 1080p you get 24,30,60,120
This is adequate for most vloggers which this camera is aimed at.

I have this camera since Nov 2022 and I could say that this isnt for me. I dont know anything about camera so I use the Intelligent Video Mode. The focus keeps running and I cant change the focus mode (I’ve tried with the other video modes but still the AFC cannt be changed). I used to have Canon and it was so much easy for the beginner. I wish I could change it with Canon. 😢

I wouldn’t call it a grade, just a few tweaks here and there!
Most of the time I’m not using any picture profile, just custom white balance and controlling my lighting with VND (Variable Neutral Density Filter).

Most the time I was riding on an electric ⚡️ bike so that helped!
I also didn’t “death grip” the tripod I had it on.
I also don’t hold the camera too far out of my comfort zone away from my body!
Holding the camera out of your power zone introduces vibration and shakiness!
There’s also a learning curve to walking and holding this camera!

I really want this camera but stabilization is necessary for me. Maybe I'll get it and a gimble
Catalyst browser stabilization is okay
I will say that using a lens with OSS (optical steady shot) can give you a smooth look without adding a gimbal!
One lens that comes to mind is the Sony 18-105 F4 lens.
I will be doing a video on stabilization with the ZV E10 shortly.

“Better” is subjective and depends on one’s needs and uses. 🤷🏽♂️
I would say the ZV E10 is more “versatile” in that you can change lenses!
If you need a camera that can capture video and instantly post to social media then slips in your pocket, then iPhone is better!
If you need a camera 📷 that serves as a vlogging camera and live stream camera with clean output, the ZV E10 is better!
Work out your “uses” and weigh each camera against that, this will tell you which one is best “for you”!

I'm really into buying this camera paired with a sigma 18 50 because of the size. But this green tint was what made me quit sony to get back to canon....and the green tint is still there
🤔 I never noticed a green tint to any footage. I know back in the day people used to complain of the nex cameras having a green tint.
Check out my other ZV -E10 videos to see if you see it? Even looking at a parade scopes and vector scopes green doesn’t stand out. 🤷🏽♂️

Yeah it's kinda funny. Your videos in the studio with controlled lights look great. But Sony when outside, especially in parks or places full of green, struggles a lot to differentiate the colors. I have the impression that the green ends up "infecting" the other colors and this is something that doesn't happen with the canon camera. Don't get me wrong, cause I had many Sony cameras and I envy the lens line-up so much. It's a pain to be a canon eos r user and have to deal with adapters and bulky equipment. Not to mention the stupid crop factor for 4k. I'm really into buying a small apsc Sony with a small lens...but they keep saying that the color science has improved when it's visible that has not.

When you say settings do you mean for the vlog I did here, or the settings I typically use for my UA-cam (talking head videos)?
It really all depends on what the lighting is like and what look I am going for.

I don’t typically have specific settings. It all depends on the time of day and what I am shooting.
One tool I always use is an ND filter. That allows me to use just about any setting I want!

While vlogging itll give a kind of jelly effect which makes camera ugly
Unless someone is vlogging on a Merry-go-round or or from inside a washing machine, it’s really a non issue. 🤷🏽♂️ 😂 😂
