the problem is this welder along with other cheap welders is the electronics fail at a high rate. If you get an inexpensive welder make sure it is all manual adjustments, you are less likely to have it fail then the ones with all the bells and whistles .
Thanks for the video. Just bought a Tooliom 135 for $67 on Amazon for thin gage stick welding. Taking a welding class now. Looking forward to practicing with it. Saving for a Miller or a PrimeWeld TIG machine.
Just got mine set up and first welds, I'm impressed! I used to weld with high end production machines (pulsed spray) and this thing is easy to use and made nice welds. Blew the breaker real fast on 110v when I cranked it all the way. Going to get a 220 outlet soon

Hell I do mobile welding for a living, I bought this one a couple months ago and I run .035 solid wire and 85/15 damn near all day with this machine. I like the shit out of it!
Good point about there being far more options today. Back in the day it was Lincoln, Miller, Hobart for quality units and then the low end junk for 200-300.
Cool. I just picked one up local for $130. I haven't got to use it yet but the seller plugged it in and it booted up. None of the cables have ever been installed. It has one tiny crack in the plastic. For $130 off the current Amazon sale price, I can live with that.
I have one of these welders and it works very well. I mostly use it for stick but it also works well for TIG. I did an entire stainless exhaust with it and not only do the welds look good but it was also extremely easy to start an arc.
Had mine for 3 years now and its an absolute beast. One of the best MIG machines I've ever used.. Yeah it would be nice if it had wire speed and voltage readouts but honestly that a nice to have, not essential. This is a really good machine.
It's nuts in this economy where eggs cost 4x more but you can get a welder like this so cheep. My prior MIG (Northern Tool house brand) was $100 more 15 years ago and wasn't half the welder.

I've been trying to make up my mind on this welder for a while... Between this fantastic video and the fact the welder price has dropped it's forcing my hand.
Defiantly go 240V, seems to work pretty nice for a lightweight machine. I have a Hobart Handler made by Miller. I use shielding gas as well for clean metal. It is nice that it has capability for TIG and stick as well. I just question how long this most likely China made machine will last? I always like to stick with the tried and proven brands such as Hobart, Miller or Lincoln. One big disadvantage is the low duty cycle of these smaller machines. This limits your welding to short durations only, and then you must let the machine cool before you can start up again. Thanks for the review.
I never found any duty cycle info published for it but it does have thermal overload protection. With a year of regular home use, I have never tripped the overload and I've done some pretty big projects. Although nothing I do has ever required more than 10 minutes of constant welding without stopping to cut out the next piece or set up the parts. I don't know how long it will last but so far so good.
Great review, comprehensive and chock full of great info. Have you done any mig welding with automotive metal thicknesses? If so, how well did that work? Sometimes the more powerful welders don't do too well at handling lower currents needed for welding sheet metal.
I did some thin stuff on a project for my wife. It did nice. Although when doing any kind of sheet metal, I go with a stitch method and skip around to allow the metal to cool. If the metal builds any heat much, you will get in trouble quick with blow outs. Not to mention warping the metal and making more work later when its time for bodywork.

I bought two of their stick welders just for the hell of it (reviewed one on my channel). While they're not the powerhouses they claim to be, and the amperage delivered falls short of what the digital display reads (probably the same thing going on here, a true 200A would obliterate that 3mm thick steel), but none the less they actually work pretty decent once you get used to striking the arc with the stick electrodes.
Purchase a TL 200 T and actually welded 1/8 6013@125 just fine on 220V struggles on 110V setting Max out for stick welding @ 155 Amps on my digital meter reading . So the actual amp reading is lower than 200A factory rated,But I am happy with this machine for the price
4T sounds like casting with fishing rod. Hit the button, whip the rod, but the line doesn't feed out till you release the button. I don't think I would use it either.
you noticed all the cases looking the same as well. LOL. I learned specs just to keep buying. The same box could have old school transformer popping breakers or igbt dual volt inverter. I have had both. there is some nice stuff out there .. just got to know what you are buying.
No I've never tried it. I'll have to pick up some oven cleaner and try it. I'd say the later beads had a lot of penetration as flat as the bead was wetting out combined with the crazy high wire speed. At the factory recommended settings I'd be more concerned with over penetration and blowing holes in thinner stuff.
I wouldn't say "all". I've used a few 110v units with the rocker switch heat selectors that weld like crap. I personally never use flux core since I am a automotive/race car guy but if I find a reason to weld outdoors, I'll grab some and do a follow up video. I've always found flux core much easier to get a decent bead and penetration when you are underpowered for the metal thickness. I learned on flux core with a little 110 Lincoln "community welder" many moons ago. It just doesn't look as clean with all the spatter getting on everything.
I`m eyein mig only welders myself, I have that AHP tig you got as well for hobbys like me, I was also wanting to say, when you use a mig, aim the gun in the direction your welding, it`ll weld nicer an won`t risk gas being blown away. A guy on amazon said he welded 5/8 pipe to a 3/8 plate and it welded hot enough to make the metal show the heat transfer. Did you try some thicker metal yet? And if possible, I might bug ya for some info on that AHP, I havent had the chance to use mine yet. Been to cold in the garage.

on most MIG machines you set the wire speed and the machine changes the amps accordingly. On this machine you set the amps and it sets the wire speed accordingly.......completely wrong compared to everyone else but I like the idea since I am more used to stick welding and you set it by amps there.

Thanks for your critique of this welder. I'm a newbie and about to strike my first arc. To my untrained eye, all those welds look good. Which setting would you prefer for welding on a car frame: the factory setting weld flattened out, but would work, right? The second weld (165A) looked better, imo. Which setting would you use on a car frame?
I just notched the rear frame rails of a Mustang yesterday. I had to cut a section out and replace it. I used 150 amps on that. Sometimes you just have to start welding and see how the first bit works. It will have a nice sound and look right when it is. If the bead don't lay down smooth and just sits on top of the steel, turn it up until it starts making the job easier. If it trys to burn a hole in the steel, turn it down a bunch. If it starts looking like chicken poo, grind it off and start again. Watch your molten weld pool. The biggest things that you have to do is be able to see the weld pool clearly, make sure the piece is clean and find the right settings. With this machine start with the voltage knob on normal and just adjust with the amps/wire speed knob.
You can, but output is limited on 110 household power. It runs a lot better with more amp capability on 220. If you are just welding thinner metal using 110 is fine.
Hi, I just got my TL-200M and I only powered it up thus far without any load at 110V. The manual say max current at 110 or 220v is 200A for Mig, Tig and MMA. On all three I'm only getting 162A. Can you tell me if this is the same with your machine? Great video and I love the details you give. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Ryan. Yeah, you can't get to 200amps on 110. It isn't physically possible. I doubt it will really put out 162amps on 110 either. More like about 130. You really need 220. Welders will run better all around with full supply. It's definitely worth it to hook up a 220 outlet.
It welds thick stuff like it has 200 but is a little weird on the settings. It calls for full power at thinner material than you would think but it continues to get the job done into thicker stuff on the same setting. By the time you go to thick stuff travel time slows to a more reasonable pace. You can see from the video, at the recommended setting I was flying across it. You can lower the setting quite a bit and get away with it.
I gave not a attempted aluminum. I would either get a shorter torch lead with a teflon liner or rig up a spool gun before trying it. I have thought about getting a generic spool gun with the same Dinse connectors and see if it would work. If I do, I'll make a video.
No, the wire speed is synergistic by amperage. The 250amp model let's you adjust everything separate or use synergistic mode. I have both and still use the synergistic mode only because it works great. You have to try really hard to mess it up.
I investigated Yes Welder very heavily. The company that builds them just builds their brand. yes welder rebrands them. I dont think the company dables in copies. They seem to be unique
I use .030" solid wire in that machine. I haven't used flux core in about 15 years since I do automotive work. I may get a roll and give it a try. I just bought the newer 250 amp version that I have set up for aluminum MIG. I just posted a 3 video series on that one.
So question. The duty cycle then would be 60% @ 200a would then be true to what is displayed or true amps? Because it looks like the numbers are much higher as shown on the machine.
The setting numbers different with the machine adjusting wire speed. Thier recommended setting are high on amps but runs hot at those settings. I recently welded some 1/2" plate for a shop press on the same 200amp setting it called for with much thinner material. It still got the job done.
If it seems to run too hot, check any internal ground straps & chassis ground connections. Some of these cheap inverters have feeble internal grounding.

Is this welder a continuous gas feed with the shielding gas on or does it have a solenoid valve in it to shut the gas off when you let off the gun trigger?
I used it on time on 110 with a long extension cord at the race track to fix the track glue sprayer that lost the axle mount. It did fine. You just can't weld at high amps. 110 only equates to about 120- 135 amps on any machine.

Pretty dang good for the money. Would I trade it for a equivalent powered Lincoln, Miller or Everlast? Of course I would. But not if they want much boot. This one will do anything I want to do and pretty well.
Honestly I have no idea. All I have seen is the 30 day return. I would deal with Amazon to make that easier. Being a new unknow Chinese company with no real retailers other than Amazon and Ebay, and pricing about 1/5th of comparable legacy brands, I wouldn't expect much.
The only consumables I know of for a MIG is contact tips and I haven't needed to replace one in the last five years and about 20 spools of wire. It actually came with some and they look to be identical to the one in my old welder.
This one is hard to beat for a home MIG even at double the price. I never tried stick with it since I just do automotive/race car work. There is no reason it wouldn't do fine though. It has plenty of power and about anything works OK for stick if you pick the right rod for what you want to do.
No but this machine has the stinger for stick welding. 2 of my machines have the ability to stick weld but I have never stick welded in my life. Just MIG and TIG and my TIG is about over with due to loosing an eye 7 years ago. I might pick up a few rods and five it a try. I bought up some flux core wire to do a follow up video since several people have requested it. Maybe I could try stick at the same time.

It's an inverter unit running on 220v, so no reason it shouldn't. The odd high settings throw some doubt on it. I will post a video soon of it doing some 1/4" plate and we will cut it. I have welded a mount on a 3/8" press plate and it did well.
I just got one and setting it up. Looking at the description it only has .030 for gas MIG, I have flux in .030, which setting do you use? Also does yours go higher than 162 on the MIG setting?
I always use .030" solid wire. Ive never used any other size solid wire. I haven't had any reason to try flux core either since everything I do is automotive. The chart has listings for flux core settings too, just go by the thickness of the metal you are welding. Mine goes all the way to 200 amps. I used it at 196 amps in the video. If you can't get it turned higher, check your supply power out of the wall. Are you using a 220v outlet? You won't get full power from the machine on a regular household 110v outlet.
@@Scott-kr8yx I'm not getting what you are asking. Do you mean 4t? 2t is normal conventional use. Pull the trigger and it burns. Let off it stops. 4t would be like production or long continuous use where holding the trigger down would for some reason be a problem. It's where you squeeze the trigger and let off and it will burn until you squeeze and let off again. I do automotive stuff so I have bever used 4t on anything including my TIG machine. The only use I can think of would be like on some kind of fixture where the torch or work piece is moved mechanically and there isn't a dude standing behind it manipulating the weld. When a human is doing the job really long periods of time wouldn't pass before you would let off the trigger and reposition yourself or your work piece to continue. For me that is usually 30 seconds or less. If I tried to weld on 4t, it would be a mess. Hope that helps.
What makes me mad is I paid out 1400$ for the same welder just myn says it's a mac brand on the sides but it's the same inside parts because myn had something burn out in it the part numbers come up your welders brand so if you think your bying mac your rely not
200 amps on 1/8 material??? I suspect that the machine is only putting out 150 amps. Just like my chines 250 amp tig welder. It only puts out 150 amps. if i turned my mig welder to 200 amps i would melt the parts.
You can weld it with much lower amps. All the Tooliom settings are hot and fast. The new 250 has lower recommendations and slows travel speed some. I just posted videos on that unit yesterday.

@@AtimatikArmy They don't advertise it but there are several cheap spool guns on Amazon with the same euro style connector. I plan to try it in the future. Worse case, I might need to wire in a switch if the spool gun doesn't internally interrupt the power to the machine's wire feed. I'm guessing it would though to redirect it to the one in the gun.

@@1986aasc When I welded a press plate, I went all the way up on the amps/wire speed and high on the volt micro adjust. I have been leaving the inductance on 2 for everything. If it is a critical job on really thick stuff, you can put a bevel cut on your parts or even make a second pass. For 1/4" that shouldn't be needed.

Tooliom doesn't say anything about it or sell one but it uses dinse style connectors at the machine which would probably allow it. I can't think of a reason it wouldn't work. I may get a cheep one off Amazon and try it some time.

You should PUSH your mig welds instead of pulling. You'll get alot flatter/better beads.
That's what everyone says but I have always had better results pulling or straight on.

It's a gamble in the cheap stuff most of the time but this one is a winner if you can deal with the weird settings.
Did you ever cut the welds you made to check penetration? It would be very interesting especially with the different setting you attempted.

I`m eyein mig only welders myself, I have that AHP tig you got as well for hobbys like me, I was also wanting to say, when you use a mig, aim the gun in the direction your welding, it`ll weld nicer an won`t risk gas being blown away. A guy on amazon said he welded 5/8 pipe to a 3/8 plate and it welded hot enough to make the metal show the heat transfer. Did you try some thicker metal yet? And if possible, I might bug ya for some info on that AHP, I havent had the chance to use mine yet. Been to cold in the garage.

Just pretty amazing all the wonderful people on this thing sharing info. Have a good one man - you should give soldering a shot too if you haven't already (the small setup for breadboards and electronics) You can get a station for 35-50 dollars and there isn't much to it.
Have you looked at the Yeswelder multi-process welder, if so would you go with that one or the tooliom?

on most MIG machines you set the wire speed and the machine changes the amps accordingly. On this machine you set the amps and it sets the wire speed accordingly.......completely wrong compared to everyone else but I like the idea since I am more used to stick welding and you set it by amps there.

Thanks for your critique of this welder. I'm a newbie and about to strike my first arc. To my untrained eye, all those welds look good. Which setting would you prefer for welding on a car frame: the factory setting weld flattened out, but would work, right? The second weld (165A) looked better, imo. Which setting would you use on a car frame?
I just notched the rear frame rails of a Mustang yesterday. I had to cut a section out and replace it. I used 150 amps on that. Sometimes you just have to start welding and see how the first bit works. It will have a nice sound and look right when it is. If the bead don't lay down smooth and just sits on top of the steel, turn it up until it starts making the job easier. If it trys to burn a hole in the steel, turn it down a bunch. If it starts looking like chicken poo, grind it off and start again. Watch your molten weld pool. The biggest things that you have to do is be able to see the weld pool clearly, make sure the piece is clean and find the right settings. With this machine start with the voltage knob on normal and just adjust with the amps/wire speed knob.

No. Amps and wire speed are tied together with only micro volt adjustment. The 250 model gives you the option to run it either way.
It's a synergic machine. And from this video I gather it's a rather nice one.

You can, but output is limited on 110 household power. It runs a lot better with more amp capability on 220. If you are just welding thinner metal using 110 is fine.
Hi, I just got my TL-200M and I only powered it up thus far without any load at 110V. The manual say max current at 110 or 220v is 200A for Mig, Tig and MMA. On all three I'm only getting 162A. Can you tell me if this is the same with your machine? Great video and I love the details you give. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Ryan. Yeah, you can't get to 200amps on 110. It isn't physically possible. I doubt it will really put out 162amps on 110 either. More like about 130. You really need 220. Welders will run better all around with full supply. It's definitely worth it to hook up a 220 outlet.

Very informative 👋.. Do you think the 200amp rating is realistic?
It welds thick stuff like it has 200 but is a little weird on the settings. It calls for full power at thinner material than you would think but it continues to get the job done into thicker stuff on the same setting. By the time you go to thick stuff travel time slows to a more reasonable pace. You can see from the video, at the recommended setting I was flying across it. You can lower the setting quite a bit and get away with it.

I gave not a attempted aluminum. I would either get a shorter torch lead with a teflon liner or rig up a spool gun before trying it. I have thought about getting a generic spool gun with the same Dinse connectors and see if it would work. If I do, I'll make a video.

No, the wire speed is synergistic by amperage. The 250amp model let's you adjust everything separate or use synergistic mode. I have both and still use the synergistic mode only because it works great. You have to try really hard to mess it up.
it probley has the same power board as the yes welder 205 ds mig i have knowing theses types of welders, would have to take it apart to be sure
I investigated Yes Welder very heavily. The company that builds them just builds their brand. yes welder rebrands them. I dont think the company dables in copies. They seem to be unique

ok so what sixe wire did you use and could you make a video about flux core wire for thid welder.
I use .030" solid wire in that machine. I haven't used flux core in about 15 years since I do automotive work. I may get a roll and give it a try. I just bought the newer 250 amp version that I have set up for aluminum MIG. I just posted a 3 video series on that one.
So question. The duty cycle then would be 60% @ 200a would then be true to what is displayed or true amps? Because it looks like the numbers are much higher as shown on the machine.
The setting numbers different with the machine adjusting wire speed. Thier recommended setting are high on amps but runs hot at those settings. I recently welded some 1/2" plate for a shop press on the same 200amp setting it called for with much thinner material. It still got the job done.
If it seems to run too hot, check any internal ground straps & chassis ground connections.
Some of these cheap inverters have feeble internal grounding.

I have a crows foot 10-50 3 pin 220/250 amp range plug outlet. Do they make an adapter to hook this 220 adapter to it?
Not sure if anyone makes anything but it wouldn't be hard to make one with a NEMA outlet and range cord. Something like this, amzn.to/3w8kqzD then amzn.to/42BOqQx would probably work pretty well.
Is this welder a continuous gas feed with the shielding gas on or does it have a solenoid valve in it to shut the gas off when you let off the gun trigger?
It's on and off with the trigger.

I used it on time on 110 with a long extension cord at the race track to fix the track glue sprayer that lost the axle mount. It did fine. You just can't weld at high amps. 110 only equates to about 120- 135 amps on any machine.

Pretty dang good for the money. Would I trade it for a equivalent powered Lincoln, Miller or Everlast? Of course I would. But not if they want much boot. This one will do anything I want to do and pretty well.

Honestly I have no idea. All I have seen is the 30 day return. I would deal with Amazon to make that easier. Being a new unknow Chinese company with no real retailers other than Amazon and Ebay, and pricing about 1/5th of comparable legacy brands, I wouldn't expect much.

Have you tried finding consumables? For Unit probably not easy.
The only consumables I know of for a MIG is contact tips and I haven't needed to replace one in the last five years and about 20 spools of wire. It actually came with some and they look to be identical to the one in my old welder.
It's really easy to find consumables. Uses standard parts

Definitely. On my last video (Gettin Hitched), I used it on some stuff way thicker than a frame rail.

Yes it can. The second knob is amps and wire speed. When you turn it up both amps and wire speed increase.

Looking for a mig stick welders for my 1st welder what do you prefer thanks.
This one is hard to beat for a home MIG even at double the price. I never tried stick with it since I just do automotive/race car work. There is no reason it wouldn't do fine though. It has plenty of power and about anything works OK for stick if you pick the right rod for what you want to do.

No but this machine has the stinger for stick welding. 2 of my machines have the ability to stick weld but I have never stick welded in my life. Just MIG and TIG and my TIG is about over with due to loosing an eye 7 years ago. I might pick up a few rods and five it a try. I bought up some flux core wire to do a follow up video since several people have requested it. Maybe I could try stick at the same time.

It's an inverter unit running on 220v, so no reason it shouldn't. The odd high settings throw some doubt on it. I will post a video soon of it doing some 1/4" plate and we will cut it. I have welded a mount on a 3/8" press plate and it did well.
I just got one and setting it up. Looking at the description it only has .030 for gas MIG, I have flux in .030, which setting do you use? Also does yours go higher than 162 on the MIG setting?
I always use .030" solid wire. Ive never used any other size solid wire. I haven't had any reason to try flux core either since everything I do is automotive. The chart has listings for flux core settings too, just go by the thickness of the metal you are welding. Mine goes all the way to 200 amps. I used it at 196 amps in the video. If you can't get it turned higher, check your supply power out of the wall. Are you using a 220v outlet? You won't get full power from the machine on a regular household 110v outlet.
@@Scott-kr8yx I'm not getting what you are asking. Do you mean 4t? 2t is normal conventional use. Pull the trigger and it burns. Let off it stops. 4t would be like production or long continuous use where holding the trigger down would for some reason be a problem. It's where you squeeze the trigger and let off and it will burn until you squeeze and let off again. I do automotive stuff so I have bever used 4t on anything including my TIG machine. The only use I can think of would be like on some kind of fixture where the torch or work piece is moved mechanically and there isn't a dude standing behind it manipulating the weld. When a human is doing the job really long periods of time wouldn't pass before you would let off the trigger and reposition yourself or your work piece to continue. For me that is usually 30 seconds or less. If I tried to weld on 4t, it would be a mess. Hope that helps.

200 amps on 1/8 material??? I suspect that the machine is only putting out 150 amps. Just like my chines 250 amp tig welder. It only puts out 150 amps. if i turned my mig welder to 200 amps i would melt the parts.
You can weld it with much lower amps. All the Tooliom settings are hot and fast. The new 250 has lower recommendations and slows travel speed some. I just posted videos on that unit yesterday.
What 200A? for 3mm steel 80A is enough xD those machine settings are totally weird, or the current reading is a bullshit lie :p

@@AtimatikArmy They don't advertise it but there are several cheap spool guns on Amazon with the same euro style connector. I plan to try it in the future. Worse case, I might need to wire in a switch if the spool gun doesn't internally interrupt the power to the machine's wire feed. I'm guessing it would though to redirect it to the one in the gun.

@@1986aasc When I welded a press plate, I went all the way up on the amps/wire speed and high on the volt micro adjust. I have been leaving the inductance on 2 for everything. If it is a critical job on really thick stuff, you can put a bevel cut on your parts or even make a second pass. For 1/4" that shouldn't be needed.

Tooliom doesn't say anything about it or sell one but it uses dinse style connectors at the machine which would probably allow it. I can't think of a reason it wouldn't work. I may get a cheep one off Amazon and try it some time.
