Thank you for this guide. I learned alll that i needed to know off your videos. I really appreciate that. I had A500 back in 90s but was a console for me at that time. Now if i find ads about Amiga "console" i can not stand it lol. Now I grown up and its my crazy stuff. I made my laptop Amiga 1200 now. No Windows (well you can`t see it anyway). Youre very good teacher if a student care Mikey. Keep going and concentrate on Amiga. Youre wonderfull.
Nicely done!
Nice, very useful.
Another great video. One comment. To make your mouse cursor larger in RTG mode, do the following:
Select Devs:Monitors/uaegfx and choose the Icon/Information... menu
Select the Icon tab, and under the Tool Types uncomment the BIGSPRITE=Yes
This will double the size of your Sprite Pointer!
Alternatively, uncomment the SOFTSPRITE=Yes. But this removes the sprite management from the RTG board and puts it back on Amiga Hardware to render the Pointer Sprite over the RTG board, causing some flicker, but otherwise seems to work fine. I hope this helps those with Small Pointer Issuse.
Thank you so much for this information. You've made my day! :-)
If it's ok I think I'll do a video demoing what you shared as I always see people using RTG and have small mouse pointers.
It has annoyed me for a long time.
@@MikeyGRetro of course... FYI there is another way to do the same thing. If you look in System:Prefs you should see a new Prefs tool called PVS. If you launch that and click on the ToolTypes tab, you should see some simple check boxes for the two values I listed above (BIGSPRITE and SOFTSPRITE) you should be able to select/deselect those, and it will update the ToolTypes on the Monitor driver.
Cheers!
jesus! i didnt know that! thanks
Yep these are definitely the bare essentials. I'm glad you opted for the original MUI v3.8 and not v5.0 which is a resource-hungry beast that only works properly in emulation or high-end real hardware
It's not bad in TF1260
I know this a bit of an older thread. Thanks so much for the info. Question. When I add a PC drive\directory it just comes up empty. Is there something I am doing wrong?
Another few handy tools: Wbdock2 by Thomas Rapp and Magic Menu .
From OS3.9 I copied the Unarc tool over to 3.2, set tooltype: DESTINATION=Ram Disk: and set Unarc as the default tool in prefs for LHA.
You also need to copy a few libraries over from 3.9 to make Unarc work but forgot them (it will ask for the libs it needs)
Now you only have to double click a LHA click start and the archive is extracted nice and easy no more typing!
I have a video in development that looks at MagicMenu and Unarc. Watch out for that soon. But thank you for the suggestion. Good stuff :-)
@@MikeyGRetro Cool, nice you're doing videos on building a config from the ground up.
MUIunarc on aminet is basically the same as on 3.9
I highly suggest Voodoo-X over unArc
great vid mate, im more of a diskmaster man :)
Nice one MikeyG. Quick question, why would I want MUI installed when we have the new Reaction framework? I am not familiar with it and don’t want any conflicts or a heavy system.
There are loads of progs out there with MUI-dependency. iGame being one of the most well-known. v3.8 isn't "heavy" but steer clear of v5.0
Thanks Gareth, I need to check out Reaction as I don't know much about it. As Ben has pointed out there is just alot of stuff that depends on MUI.
If anyone knows of any conflicts with Reaction let us know. :-)
@@BennyboyTruth Thanks Ben. Would applications or games install it as part of their installation or would they be expecting it if it was needed?
Reaction gui was a update of ClassAct which some older programs relied on,so they wont conflict,it just gives a better way to still use older classact stuff.
we not install what need mui we wait reaction version LOL@@BennyboyTruth
There is a problem with os3.2...some bugs which make trouble for Picasso and other installation packages....Even when I did step by step I got many problems after restarting Amiga OS.
All these steps are all incorporated, and more in the BestClassicWB for OS3.2 as shown here on the English Amiga Board: eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=107410
where i can download all tools ??
I assume Picasso96 is not of any benefit if you are going to be using this image on real Amiga 1200 Hardware rather than WINUAE?
That is correct unless you’ve upgraded your a1200 into a tower and adding a picasso96.
The majority viewing are using emulation so that’s why it’s in the list 🙂
What if you have a 68030 CPU (TF1230 for example) and want to install LHA? Thanks
Hi, good question. I'd go with the lha_68020. The 030 shares alot in the 020 and not a massive difference. The 68000 is more optimized for the old A500 and A600. And if you got an 040 or 060 then the lha_68040 run better and more optimized. Just give it a try. :-)
About installing the P96, what if I am using a real Amiga that has an RGBtoHDMI Raspberry Pi adapter? Which "graphics board" do I select during installation?
Not sure on about that one. I wanted to get a RGBtoHDMI for my A600 but the prices of them were really inflated when I last looked.
@@MikeyGRetro I'm waiting for the CPLD and Pi Zero to arrive. Installing one in an A1000. The hard part is finding a Raspberry Pi that is not 10 times the retail price.
Question if you are still monitoring this. When I tried to install P96 I get a message: "unable to open tool sys: utilities/installer". Is it located someplace else, where? What does mui38usr do. The link seems to be dead now.
Hi, I tried the mui38usr just now and it's still working for me.
The P96 message is odd. This is on Amiga OS 3.2 correct?
Sounds like it's looking for installer which should be in C folder.
All I can suggest is try a fresh install again.
Sorry this is a year late, but you need Installer-43_3.lha from aminet.
So is Picasso 96 of any use to stock Amiga 1200 users? Is this question too stupid to answer or have the people that saw this now dead?
For Stock A1200 you don't need Picasso 96, it's only needed if you have an add-on graphics card that comes with a Vampire card for example.
I tried the Picasso setup. The software installed but when I go into UAE setup to choose the UAE Zorro III and save configuration and restart the setting resets so when I reset the new modes aren't available. Does anyone know why this is happening? Thanks.
Have you got 24bit addressing ticked in the CPU and FPU options. If so try unticking forcing it to 32bit. Then in RAM add Z3 fast and hopefully that will resolve the issue.
Where is BestWB?
Install the 3.2.2 with hotfix update next
hey amigos , where i can donwload amigaos3.2.iso ??
Dopus doesn’t have an installer when extracted. Nothing is ever easy is it.
People knew how to use computers in the 80s and were real men and women.
I still haven't upgraded to aos 3.2 in emulation my homemade 3.1 workbench is already doing good things ua-cam.com/video/Y2LCqsiz31s/v-deo.html
