    New subscriber here and I’m just now getting into ball pythons. I’ve had a normal ball python for 10 years but we are just now getting into breeding ball pythons. Would love to be able to have a mentor to talk to and ask questions. I just bought a 2018 pinstripe axanthic 100% Het Pied female and a 2018 axanthic 100% Het Pied male from the same breeder he said they aren’t related and he took a hunk off the price since we bought them in a bundle. We also bout a nice rack from TGR do you think this will be a decent start? Also just bought a 2015 normal 100% Het Pied female that’s proven 🙏 thanks in advance for any tips and tricks 🙏

      @DARKDYNASTYK9S NC Its great to hear that your are getting into this hobby. And yes, it's always great starting off with females specially recessive mutations because they hold better value. I'm not to excited about the male though. males can usually breed at around 500grams or 1yr and females at around 1,400grams or 2/3 years. so unless your pinstripe axanthic female is close to breeding size I feel like you might have bought that male axanthic a bit to early. But hey, I've done the same thing so no worries, just try and stick to females for now and have a plan/strategy on where you want to take your collection.. With ball pythons its always best to have a direction because you can get lost in the 100s of morphs that are available. if there is anything else I can help with just let me know.

    • @ClutchXReptiles
      @ClutchXReptiles  5 років тому +1

      Also try and keep at 1.3 or 1.5 ratio in your collection. AKA 1 Male to 3 or 5 Female ratio

    • @TheCrazyHillbillygaming
      @TheCrazyHillbillygaming 5 років тому

      Yeah we only really wanted the female but he said he would give us a nice male not related to her for 200$ extra so we checked him out he looks really nice so we did it...

    I've never bred snakes before. Would a super enchi ultramel clown pied be a good first morph to try and produce?

    • @ClutchXReptiles
      @ClutchXReptiles  5 років тому +4

      with such an aggressive project I would have to say it depends on your situation. you have three recessive genes in one snake here (ultrame, pied, clown) which to date is still very rare. here will be your options.
      1. take your time and produce your own: this will most likely take you about 10years to produce, and would only include you purchasing single gene snakes to start things off. this option will also be a lot cheaper.
      2. purchase ball pythons with those genes in them to speed things up: for example you can find clownpied females or males for around $4,000. you might be able to find one with enchi also, but will most likely go for about $5,000+. then you can buy an ultramel which can go for about $800-$1,500 and breed them to create triple hets and grow them up to breed to each other and hopefully get lucky. this may take about 5-7years.
      no matter which option you will have to be extremely patient and lucky to produce. if you do hit it though you are looking at a one of a kind snake forsure a worlds first and be worth $15,000plus

    • @ClutchXReptiles
      @ClutchXReptiles  5 років тому

      I can go into further detail if you like or need the help. you can also go to worldofballpythons.com click on the genetic wizard option and see what it would take to produce that snake

    • @ClutchXReptiles
      @ClutchXReptiles  5 років тому +2

      @Nick Joslin hey sorry I guess I never truly answered your question. I would say ....
      NO: if you have no experience or knowledge on what its like to care for multiple snakes or reptiles(this is not because its extremely hard to acquire the knowledge on how to take care of bps rather because it's a lot of hard work to maintain a collection and you may not be aware of that). dont have the time to feed and care for your Bps for multiple years, dont want to wait a minimum of 5-7years to get to the stage when you can finally get a shot at producing your super enchi clownpied ultramel. or want to invest a lot of money into it.
      I would say
      YES: If you are aware of how much hard work is involved in taking care of reptiles/BPS. want to have multiple snakes for a long period of time and have at least a 10 ball python collection(with hold back and snakes you purchase you will probably have around 10 snakes to try and produce your snake), have the time and money to invest into such a long term project. but most IMPORTANT I would say YES if you want that overall satisfaction that you have created something that probably would have never existed because a super enchi clownpied ultramel is such a unique and rare combination that almost nobody will ever try to produce it.
      anyhow if you decide to go after it good luck on your journey! if you decide to simplify a bit I have no doubt you will equally enjoy it. It's all about the journey and having fun! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

      @@ClutchXReptiles I'm sorry, but I was just being cheeky there with my original comment. I fully understand how hard it would be to do something like that without spending thousands of dollars on double recessives to start out. What I would like to breed, eventually and in all seriousness, would be an ultramel pied or an ultramel clown. Ultramels were going for $200-250 at the last reptile show I attended, and pieds are roughly $400. I could breed an ultramel to a pied and make 100% double hets, then breed those double hets to have a 1/16 chance of making an ultramel pied. But, that process would take a minimum of around 6 years, assuming I hit on the first try, and assuming that I started with babies and not breeder age snakes.

    I just wish I understood the Recessive and Main Gene. I'm a new snake owner I have a blade clown that I purchased one year ago the guy that sold them to me as a friend of mine he breed snakes and he told me that if I bred him with a pastel I'm just going to get normals. I want to have visual babies I want understand how to do that so what I breed my blade clown with What gene morph for the first clutch would I get normals and any visuals would I have to keep one or two babies from that first clutch I just want to understand if you have a moment to explain I would appreciate it

    • @ClutchXReptiles
      @ClutchXReptiles  5 років тому

      ill be glad to help. in short if you have a blade clown you will have to breed to another visual clown to get babies that all look like clowns. if you breed your blade clown to a normal het for clown about 50% of the babies will come out looking like clown and the other 50%will look normal but be het for clown. if you breed your blade clown to a pastel all babies will come out looking normal but all will be het. for clown..
      just so you know het for clown means that the snake has only one copy of the clown gene. so even though it carries the gene it will not express it visually because it only has one copy. if a snake has two copies it will express it visually

    Thanks for the info! I have an Enchi male i got him just as a pet but have wanted a pied for a long time and am now considering trying to breed. im looking at female pieds currently. Maybe pastel pied. Any suggestions? Id like to keep my budget at $500 tops for a female.

    • @ClutchXReptiles
      @ClutchXReptiles  5 років тому

      @Miranda E I'll start off by saying enchi and pied go very well together, so you can make some really great combos. if your budget is $500 I would say either buy two(2) regular pied girls or one(1) pastel pied or pinstripe pied or spider pied etc. May I suggest you take a look at morphmarket.com it has the biggest online selection of ball pythons and you can specify what you are looking for with results showing sex, weight, age, and breeder name. Just make sure you find a trusted breeder. another key point is that these females will take around 2 or 3 years to get to breeding size and might give you the time you need to save some money yo buy a pied male when your girls are close to hitting breeding size. I would recommend buying once females are 900grams. Hope this helps and if you need anything else I'm available.

    Love your video just found your channel. You gotta sub out a me. I have a 5 month banana spider male and a 2 year old female pied. I love banana pieds and spider pieds but cant afford it. Gotta start somewhere. What in your opinion would my clutch be an how long do you think it will take to create a visual banana pied or spieds?

    • @ClutchXReptiles
      @ClutchXReptiles  5 років тому +1

      @Ron deezzee thank you for subbing and watching our video, really appriciate the support. As for your question if your 2 year old female pied is up to weight (1,500grams) and your banana spider is producing sperm plugs(usually at 500-600grams) you can start paring now. seeing as everything from this first clutch will be 100% het for pied, you are hoping to hit on a banana het pied male. If you do ge the banana het pied you can grow up that male and breed back to the female pied to produce banana pieds, if you hit the odds(odds are not bad). In all I think this project will take about 2year if you are able to breed now and hit the odds.

    • @MrRondeezzee
      @MrRondeezzee 5 років тому

      @@ClutchXReptiles ok bro really really appreciate you getting back to me. I'm in colton I picked the female pied up from elliott's emporium in san Bernardino 400 bucks last week, I have a hatchling normal pied but seeing her full grown I had to grab her.
      Are the same odds in effect in terms of making a spied also? "If I get a spider het pied male and breed to female to make spieds?

    • @ClutchXReptiles
      @ClutchXReptiles  5 років тому +1

      @@MrRondeezzee no worries, so your close to LA? I'm in Fulllerton. but yes same applies if you want to go for a spied. For your first clutch your odds are 25% het pied 25% spider het pied 25% banana het pied 25% spider banana het pied. Meaning if you get lucky and produce a banana spider H.P male you have a chance to produce a banana spider pied in the following year.. A great place to figure out odds is on worldofballpythons.com and go to the genetic wizard to plug in different snakes together. I dont mind questions though, if you ever need help just reach out and I'll try to be of help. By the way, you should have your recently adult pied female sexed. I'm not in any way saying your source isn't trust worthy but everybody should always sex their recently acquired snakes, standard practice if you ask me.

    • @MrRondeezzee
      @MrRondeezzee 5 років тому

      @@ClutchXReptiles one last question bro. If you were just starting off an had a female pied and had the choice to breed either the banana spider that I have already, or buy either a bumblebee or a queen bee male. My local pet store has the other 2 a a reasonable price?

    • @ClutchXReptiles
      @ClutchXReptiles  5 років тому +1

      @@MrRondeezzee No worries, If your looking at a pet store that has a bumblebee or a queen bee, I'm assuming that the snakes are about $125 - $175. What I would do is go over to morphmarket.com and find a bumblebee 100%het pied, queen bee 100%het pied, or any other snake that you like that is also 100% het for pied and same in pricing as the snakes in the pet shop. I would then buy that male, grow it up for 7 or 8 months and pair it with your female pied. This breeding will give you pieds in your first clutch and possibly have a shot at making $400, $500, or even $800 snakes in your first attempt. The reason you want to do this is because you make valuable animals, you save about 3years in your attempt to make great animals, save money in feeding, save money in housing ETC. I would personally go this route even if I had to spend an additional $50 or $80 bucks because the profit you can make is way bigger.
      For example check this out www.morphmarket.com/us/search?cat=2&sort=le&q=het+pied&store=&neg_traits=&page=6&sex=&min_price=&max_price=&country=&traits=
      Hope this helps, and if you need anything else just send me another message its all good.
