Being a guitar player, I have a guitar that has volume knobs that attach the same way this knob attaches. What you’re hearing is what happens when that set screw is on tight. Over tightening causes those knobs to tilt a little, so you’re hearing the bottom of one side of the knob scraping the plastic. A remedy is to loosen it, lift the knob up a little so it sits higher up on the pot when you tighten it. It might still be a little lopsided, but it won’t bind against the plastic.

I like the idea of this keyboard having follow-along instructions. I could see this being a really good gift for a buddy who likes tech but hasn't got into mech keyboards... I'm looking for something similar for a buddy of mine but he said he isn't willing to give up the numpad so I'm trying to find a budget friendly 1800 kit.
I built my sister a gk96 awhile back, not aluminum but it's hotswap

It looks really nice and I'm happy I pre-ordered the essential kit. The price is very interesting, unlike the shipping fees to my country, that are 1/3 of the build itself 😆 I didn't want to miss it though, because I wanted a keyboard with a good flex without robbing the bank

That's really smart of them to include the mods with the board but leave it up to the customer. Cost effective and caters to our knit pickiness

I finally got round to installing my Kailh Pale Blues in my old 1992-vintage NTC brand keyboard this weekend, and it's sooooo clicky!!! I'm happy now!!! Haven't tested it yet though, I just like the sound... :P

So great how far we have come. Between this and the qk65 its amazing. Love all the quailty caps available now too. Seems like a year or 2 ago wasnt this solid.
I got in on the Group buy for the Zoom Essential, I'm really excited. It'll be my first mechanical keyboard. Just need to decide on switches. Got it in E-white with Silver mirror. Wanted to go for the lilac but I'm too Indecisive and might want to swap the caps at some point. 😂 Glad you mentioned looking the glitter finish because I didn't know the white and black used it until after buying and most online seem to hate it. Great video!

I’ve said this on Keybored’s vid on it too, but I got the Essentials May Pre-Order bc it had my fav color combination and wireless functionality. V excited for it, it was the superior version for me. Have been considering the Zoom65 - if only it has options of normal anodizing finish and that the seams between the two halves look a bit more perfect.
Was considering this one for a 65 with knob, has some gorgeous customisation options! What are your thoughts on the Akko Mod 008 as a 65 with knob?
I can assure you that this is a step up from any Akko product so far, even the newer ones
The main reason I didn’t go for the Akko was the north facing switches. They can cause interference with cherry keycaps (if that’s your thing) 😊

This is almost exactly like the GMMK Pro from Glorious. It comes barebones and you have to assemble the switches and keycaps but can also take it completely apart and switch the stabilizer plate from the standard aluminum to brass or polycarbonate. Its setup 100% the same, even with the same knob and Delete-End keys the same.
I mean, same can be said for most barebones kits. Most barebones kits come with different plate options and the less budget priced ones come with screw in stabilizers.
It's just a 65% with a knob. I personally think it's nothing like the GMMK Pro. It's pretty unique because of its design and the fact that not a lot of 65% have a knob.

What’s the best sort of keyboard I could buy or build for around £100. I have watched a lot of your videos and some seem great at a hefty price tag. I mainly code during the day and game at night so I read brown switches may be the best. Not sure what else is needed. Ideally with numberpad but seen the videos and it’s not really used in the custom keyboard industry so I don’t mind if it’s without

I usually play on my laptop keyboard but after switching to RedDragon my gaming experience is extremely satisfying. I just built mine today with lubed glorious pandas, it sounds like little pebbles hitting each other. Only bad thing is that they forgot to include the right arrow keycap
