Mutation. The next step in UA-cam evolution. This process is slow, normall taking thousands and thousands of videos. But every few hundred millennia, evolution leaps forward.
In honor of the end of the Fox X-Men series, some of the most astonishing creators on UA-cam are each going to each make a video detailing one of their favorite scenes in all X-Men media. We're calling it One X-Cellent Scene.
In my video, I look at Stryker's assault on the X-Mansion from X2: X-Men United. I talk about why the action works so well, how Stryker fit perfectly into a post 9/11 world, and why X2 was able to so successfully turn the Institute for Gifted Youngsters into more than a school.

Aw man I can't wait for next year with "One DCent Scene"
Their greatest challenge yet. They can't all use Wonder Woman, right?
That would be the real challenge 😂😂
I’d use Shazam over the other films
Allow them to use scenes from any DC film. Not just from the DCEU.
@@BigFatCock0 ahh there's a bunch of gems in the animated films im sure
To this day, the moment when Colossus says, "I can help you," & Logan responds, "HELP THEM" gives me goosebumps. I LOVE THIS SCENE. (And this movie)
That feeling when there should be a "One Fantastic Scene" series but there's nothing to say.
F(F)
Just wait for the MCU Fantastic Four Film.
That makes sad, The Fantastic Four is one of the most important families in the Marvel universe.
*Roblox "Oof" noise*
Feels bad man 😣
Watching this made me realize that Marvel will NEVER be able to replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine
*...But they can still go ahead and cast an accurate representation of Logan/Wolverine.*
@@johnelmartagbago3764 fingers crossed
I mean, Danny DeVito is *right there.*
@@lnsflare1 Marvel won't cast him I'm sure, but he is and always will be my #1 pick
They can, they just need to make the films not be "Wolverine and his X-cellent Friends".
I think they wrote Williams Striker as a military scientist because the movie may not have been received that well if he was a radical pastor during early 2000's.
I believe that as well the backlash and controversy they would get just for that.
X2 remains my favorite X-Men movie, especially for the X-mansion scene. X2 is the only movie in the franchise that doesn't feel like its only a Wolverine, Xavier, and Magneto movie and kind of captures the soul of the comics. The entire cast has a moment to shine and stand out.
I love First Class, I love DOFP, I love Logan...but X2 is, for me, the movie where EVERYTHING "clicked"
Definitely the best story and plot out of the 1st 3
You're talking about first class that's the movie that feels more like an Ensemble film since they focus on multiple characters not just one or two
Logan is probably my favourite
@@dcmarvelcomicfans9458 Don't really agree on that. Xavier, Erik, Raven, and Hank get a lot of focus, sure. But everyone else is barely memorable. Angel Salvadore joins Shaw and we barely get to know her before then to empathize with her decision. Havok and Banshee train under Xavier, but we don't really get to know them as people.
8:30: The Colossus CGI might look kind of bad, but the Deadpool movies are the only times Colossus gets (shock, gasp) ACTUAL DIALOGUE. And, no, that's not petty.
for that point alone!!
Best part about Deadpool for me. Colossus is my favorite
Something primally satisfying about a feral defense of a home full of kids.
Fun Fact: David Hayter, the voice of Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid franchise, wrote X-Men and X2.
Along with Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris, yes.
Why does this make complete sense?
#KeptYouWaitingHuh
The one thing I absolutely dislike about the xmen franchise is how they handled cyclops and how it was more wolverine and friends than x men as a team
Light Knight talk about Wolverine and the X-men tv series
I want them to address "the punch dimension" in his eyes.
Cyclops has been my favorite mutant long before I saw the X-Men movies, so to see him so underused breaks my little geeky kid heart
same
@@srstriker6420 it's kind of the same faults as the movies although I like how they put a spotlight on nightcrawler
The best part about this scene is that is the pay-off to the last sentence Charles says at the end of the previous movie; "I feel a great swell of pity for the poor soul that comes to my school looking for trouble"
Logan: "You picked the wrong house, Bub!"
Stryker: "Ey ey ey, Logan, it's me, Stryker, chill, chill!"
Logan: *Very angry screaming*
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I love that I just got 5 different notifications that all started with “One X-cellent scene”
BTW I would love a James Bond series similar to this & the one marvelous scene series.
I was so confused

Same.
Two were from the same channel which was particularly confusing
Oh man a James Bond one would be awesome.
“Astonishing”, “uncanny”, was there a “giant sized” in there too?
Aight so like 13 of you just decided to punch me in the face with notifications huh?
that's right but it's one of those we're friends now punches in the face like from Artemis Fowl
@@NandovMovies a welcome series of punches for sure

Rolling Stones guy: do we really need metal guy or run through wall girl?
Me: *_Yes_*
Same
"We love what you've done with your hair" is a funnier line than anything from the MCU.
15:57 "...we get a look at the X-Men acting like a family."
*Shows Wolverine stabbing a guy in the chest*
Is that what he is doing, because the lack of puncture wounds suggests otherwise...
I knew Nando was an intellectual. This is also my favorite scene. I love it when Logan gets to go all papa bear and help the kiddos
“Everything works really well.”
Well, Cyclops still gets the shaft, but I guess it could be worse.
*glares at The Last Stand*
Poor James Marsden. His characters get cucked in some way in two comicbook universes and at least two romantic movies.
@Ryan Stewart TO A DEGREE?! He's the one got the short end of the stick.
@Ryan Stewart Same for you.
When you guys eventually get to "One Amazing Spider-Scene" how many of you are gonna fight for Uncle Ben's responsibility speech in the Raimi trilogy
They’ll have to do a gladiatorial trial of combat
@@ShibuNub3305 Nah, it’ll be a Marvel vs Capcom tournament
Mr. Nando!!!
(Making me Spidey made me die with laughter)
Once that part of the vid started, I was really hoping he'd make you Spidey. I am not disappointed at all.
My favorite part of this scene is the display of powers from the students that aren't named. If you don't know much about the xmen you might not recognize Shadowcat, or Siryn but as a lifelong fan I geek out hard every time there's a scene at the school where random kids use their powers.
The movie ages well, but Bryan Singer certainly hasn’t
Just looked him up and yikes
Oof, accurate
If you dont separate the artist from the person, you wont be able to enjoy anything...you liked the first Avengers movies? Joss Whedon is a creep. You liked Guardians of the Galaxy? James Gunn is also a creep. You consider Brave Heart one of the greatest movies ever made? Well, Mel Gibson is...Mel Gibson.
@@Jose-se9pu James Gunn is a creep?
@@engineergaming1537 They may be referring to those cringey tweets James Gunn got cancelled over a couple of years ago
The sun will never set on the Fox X-Men series
Because New Mutants will never release
Igneul That movie’s release has been delayed so many times that half it’s cast has gone on to do bigger movies in the time the release has taken.
It’s Cabin in the Woods without the budget.
But Disney is going to make some
The 'screamer' is siryn. Banshee's daughter.
Weirdly enough, Mystique's "no" is one of the moments that really stuck with me from this film.
Just out of curiosity, why? It just felt like normal no, kind of sarcastic like you thought I haven't thought of that, kid? kind
i dont get it, can you explain it to me
I say "weirdly enough" because I'm not really sure either
Oh no, not this impossible split-second decision again, guess I'll just watch all of them simultaneously for the true X-Cellent scene experience
4:15 "Lighting in a giant copper conductor. And I thought you lived in a school..."
The assault of the school is one of my favorite scenes in the movie precisely because you get to see all these kids use their powers, and I cannot get enough of it.
That Colossus scene makes me giddy every time I see it. I totally geeked-out when I first saw X2 in the theater.
I just gotta say I have a soft spot in my heart for the shadow and everyone I have shown it to thought it was cool.
Filmento is not going to be happy when he finds out that he wasn't invited again.
he probably was invited like before but missed the email again
The dude made a video about Sonic The Hedgehog in a series titled “Film Perfection.” He can stay uninvited.
I wonder why they hate him lol
The fact that someone like him, with so informative content on story telling, hasn't been invited yet still blow my mind
The next of these should be: One Scene To Rule Them All!
One Magical Scene would be cool too
A big reasons the one marvelous seen and excellent scene works so well, is because all these movies are so different and yet so similar with there being very different presentations and directions. If you focus on lord of the rings trilogy, it's almost like one long movie and although being iconoc and well know there isnt a truly defining set of scenes as they rely on the presentation as a whole to be great. Sure you could make a few great videos off of the set of movies, but I cant imagine there being a real surplus of choices.
@@Vivi_Sterling it could work if they include its other media iterations
Great analysis! Totally agree about the X-Mansion, in a lot of the other films it just kinda feels like a backdrop but in X2 it feels so alive.
I can't be the only one to suggest "One DCent Scene", right?
Decent pun, but adjusts expectations to fit DC movies' quality.
Yours is the third one I've seen so far, just scrolling through these comments.
I guess I can't say I'm surprised. It's not really revolutionary humour.
For me someone commented this a day earlier and is the comment just above yours
@@danielnoonan3049 For what it's worth, I did think it was pretty clever. You know, the first time.
Feed is getting bombarded with these collab Vids this shows how many UA-camrs I have subscribed to.
X-men 2 is so underrated and I can't believe I almost forgot this entire scene until you brought it up! I really need to rewatch it.
I was in 6th grade when X2 came out. This was THE scene to talk about in school the whole next week. Great times
The first X-Men movie just barely beats this one out as my favorite. I talked about it so much my normally frugal parents willingly bought me the DVD for my birthday. Those movies have a lot of heart.
Ikr And Days Of Future Past Ripped my heart out and 😤 I loved THe Dark Pheonix Saga both of them
Even Chris Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy also had a post 9/11 reference
X2 was the first superhero movie I ever watched and I was obsessed with it - and the idea of the X-mansion - as a little kid. The attack on the X-mansion was easily my favorite moment from the whole film, and a lot of that was because it gave us that little glimpse at all these background characters and the world inside the X-mansion. Thanks for that nostalgia punch, dude, now I gotta go watch this movie again.
Describing the X-Men Movies as *Astonishing* made my day.
THEYRE DOING IT AGAIN
Bless you for creating this project. For me, X2 is my favourite superhero movie of all time. Part of it is nostalgia, part of it was the theatre audience experience (really hyped theatre but not OTT and everyone reacted in the right way during moments meaning ppl laughed and cheered when they needed to lol) and partly the set pieces are so well done. And also, the OST was actually incredible!!
This scene is easily the pinnacle of the entire X-series, for me as well. And it is definitely the best glimpse of Colossus that we've ever had. I was really hyped for X3 after that scene, but, well... you know.
"X2 is my favorite movie ever made", ah i see you're a man of culture as well.
The day he finally does one of those for DC, it should be named "One DCent Scene"...
I like how you made Hi Top MCU Spider-Man.
That's incredibly amusing.
*Ahahahahaha... Nando V Movie lowkey being a troll* 😂😂😂
He probably hated that, lol
Next year it'll be one fantastic scene or something
That would be a fun April fools video
@@NandovMovies the only way to pull it off for Fantastic Four, honestly.
One Spectacular Scene or One Amazing Scene would be the logical Spider-Man equivalent.
What would you call the DC version, anyway? One Unofficially Titled Scene, given that they didn't even have a name for it until someone suggested DCEU as a joke and the Worlds of DC name seemed to disappear as soon as it arrived?
@@stevenbobbybills maybe it could be one DC-cent scene. cuz at best most of the movies are decent
0:53 Mr. Sunday Movies as Rocket Racoon sounds about right.
I am so excited by this. The x-men movies rarely get any credit- so to suddenly have a wave of genuine appraisal for my favorite superhero series is just fantastic
0:38 Yoy made Hitop be Tom Holland's Spider-Man, he's gonna hate it😂😂. Also, was Filmento invited to this colab, you kind of forgot about him last time.
When I saw HiTop’s logo on Spider-Man I died laughing
*I think it's intentional* 😂😂 There's no way it's not intentional really.
Great video my man, I was surprised to hear X2 is so high on your list, but then again it IS fantastic. X-Cellent, you might say. And thanks for using and sharing the intro I made for everyone! If you all want to use it in your own One X-Cellent Scene video, you can download the resources at the link in the description! 😄
The 9/11 comparison really works when you consider that the X-Men being attacked at their own home is what encouraged them to fight back.
I have always LOOOOVED this scene in this movie and I’m so glad you decided to talk about it!
This scene holds a special place in my heart, I'm serious. Maybe for slightly different reasons that you listed here, but I love it.
I know the X-mansion is rebuild in the comics every few years, but in the film it really sold the idea of safe place not being so safe anymore. That there is always a danger that foes want to get destroy a place you feel comfortable. That place, that idea of safety felt so important with mutants, with X-Men - characters portray as hated ouside the mansion. From this perspective attack scene always felt... real to me. For some reason.
Thank you for this x-cellent collab! I can be happy now and watch all of it!
I have to agree whole heartedly. When I saw X2 with my aunt, I involuntarily stood up and said something like “it’s colossus!” Right as he was transforming. She had to pull me down. It was just the best.
I remember the idea of Magneto using the metal inside someone's body blew my mind as a kid
Is this a bad time to remind everybody that those same metals are ALSO inside Magneto's body?
And next year's gonna be more like "One D-Cent scene". And everyone's gonna talk about DC films.
a 'this is what kinda works and what kinda kills it' break down
Yeah, because the one thing that's going to improve things is making Justice League more like Batman v Superman. Someone wake me up when DC gets back on track with Patty Jenkins and Walter Hamada and the long enter Snyder nightmare is finally over.
Probably in 2028 when Donner's Superman turns 50.
All the videos are gonna be about the dark knight trilogy
@@matthewirving4877 there are a lot of other great batman properties. The animated series, batman beyond, lots of very famous scenes from the comics, the old goofy live action show, and if it's open to include batman centric Justice League scenes then that adds even more options.
I feel like the tastes of the creators in this playlist is also broad enough to really cover a wide range of batman content
I got this notification, Hitop's and Browntable's
So X-Men is basically Harry Potter if Snape was the protagonist.
“It’s funny that I only ever see the two of you. Almost like the studio couldn’t afford other X-Men”
The scene from X3 where mags does the bridge scene was fantastic. It show cased to everyone viewer and characters alike that you are messing with a powerhouse. Add on to the fact that he wasn't even tired after the stunt. Meaning he did it just cause he wanted to
5:03
Yeah. wow. Decades later you happen to have zeroed in on the exact thing and pretty much the only thing that I remember from X2. Well done.
Does everyone forget that David Hayter, the voice of Solid Snake, helped write X2 as a major screenwriter?
And cameod at the end of X1, he's the cop who finds the unconscious shapeshifted Mystique.
The screams of joy in the theater when Colossus powers up are unforgettable.
I remember watching this scene like a month ago and just wishing I could go there. I never wanted to be a mutant so badly than during and after this scene.
Okay bit if it hadn't been for X-Men we would have never had the MCU.
X-men videos are always much appreciated. This is a great video and scene choice.
you can't just drop all of these on me at the same time, i have a life!
Everyone who enjoys the modern superhero films owes a great deal to Bryan Singer who, IMHO, was the first director to take the genre seriously and present it as - What would it be like if these characters existed in our real world?
I loved how he put hitop films face on spidy
My favorite thing about this scene, that I wish you had talked about:
The narrator of the nature documentary on the TV mirrors the events happening in the movie as the school is invaded and Wolverine picks up on their presence.
HOW CAN YOU UNITE ALL OF UA-cam LIKE THIS?! I love your usual work, and this is still amazing. Or should I say.... X-cellent
X2 is the most fan beloved and critically acclaimed of the X-Men films.
Nando has developed a secondary mutation: posting two videos in two days
Thank you for this. Seeing how many people still find amazing things in these movies makes me all sensitive in my heart. The X-men were my superhero group growing up. More than the justice league and more than the avengers. It means a lot to me as a fan of the movies and games as well as fans of all of these channels. Thank you
Man I used to LOVE x-men evolution growing up - I think it was my entry into superheroes and they had the family vibe DOWN.
The first two X-men movies were trail blazing, and laid the ground work for what the MCU was able to pull off.
You took me back there man, love this movie.
I'm loving this UA-cam Creator Universe that's been happening lately.
I'm still a bigger fan of the first X-Men movie, if only for the "evolution" opening speech, but I love this film, too -- especially this scene.
I loved seeing this film through your eyes just now. I'd more or less forgotten this film even existed, but I agree with you 100% about this scene
X2 is a movie that still stands so strong today 👏
This is why I love X-Men Evolution (yes they get educated at real high school and I don’t care) compared to the other animated series the institute feels real and has the perfect number of students who are shown on the grounds using their powers
This scene was everything for my development as a storyteller. It changed my life
My favorite scene is Magneto's escape from the Plastic Prison. It's just so effortless. He raises his hand, monologues a little, then crosses his arms, and flies out of there. That's Magneto, and how Sir Ian played it perfectly. I like Fassbender's impetuous youth with the jazz hands, but even the setup, with Mystique seducing Mr. Laurio to shoot him up was great. "Never trust a beautiful woman, Mr. Laurio. Especially one that's interested in you." It was just perfect, all the way around.
Still no filmento. Ngl he’s one of myfavourite youtubers. Sad to see him neglected again
can i just say that the last point is the kind of story i love most? like, what does the day to day life at a superhero academy look like?
I still love how David Hayter, the man, the myth, the legend, Solid Snake himself, wrote the first two X-Men movies.
Dude seriously nando in my view is one of the top 5 you tubers ever.. dude is freaking awesome
Can't wait to go through the playlist... but I also can't wait to see what Filmento puts out 😂
Seriously why did you talking about this get me all emotional and choked up. Its too early to hope that since the XMen is with the MCU we will get some fantastic consistent stories of them. Theyre my favorite comic book characters.
as a massive fan of the x-men movies, let me just say: thank you so much for this!!
Great video! X-2 is easily one of the best superhero movies ever made. It's a longtime favorite and your video essay taught me new things. Thank you!
Oh, yeah! Can't wait for One Double-O Scene!
I do enjoy the small detail of Logan asking Bobby to chill his beer.
It's small moment like that that made the X-Men movies so relatable
As the video started I thought to myself what is MY favorite x-men movie and it decided it was x-men 2. When I though about my favorite scene, I knew I loved the kitchen scene with Wolverine and Bobby. I realized that this scene leads into the school attack and I figured that’s what I would pick if I was in on this project. I’m so pleased that Nando felt the same.
the fact they use more of wolverine's powers rather than just regen and the claws is great
