I'm looking at mauijim local kine with blue polarized lenses and mayijim kaniao coast in grey lens what is better for sunny day on the beach what are the pros and cons especially blue lenses
HI! Grey (sometimes referred to as Black) and Green lenses are great tints for keeping colors fairly neutral and true to tone whereas a brown or rose base tint will boost and enhance colors in your field of view. Grey works best in dry desert climates where the color boosting properties of brown and rose pair well with lush green environments.
Hi there! Green or green smoke polarized lenses lie somewhere in the middle of grey and brown when it comes to contrast enhancement. Wearers will notice more distinction and separation between colors similar to grey, but with less color enhancement and boost/brightness of colors. Many people prefer a 'true to tone' depiction of colors in one's field of view rather than a burst or spike of certain color hues of which grey and green make great options. The green is a bit warm in it's outlook compared to grey but the brown will certainly have more contrast with a brighter feel. Hope this helps! 😎
hi would you suggest if i can put prescription lens on tom ford alasdhair sunglasses hi index 1.67? im around -4.25 to -4.75. i would like to get a professional advice from you Sir. Thanks in advance
Hi Arnel! Although it can technically be done, due to the thinness of the frame combined with the strength of the Rx, we wouldn't recommend a hi index lens material as it's much more likely to crack & craze under the pressure of that frame type. A polycarbonate lens would work much better but either way there would be noticeble thickness in the lens, even with Hi Index. Hope this helps!
Good question! Blue & Purple are not typically used as base tints, but moreso as mirror colors that blend WITH the base tint (usually grey, brown, or rose) to deliver a specific type of tone and contrast. Check out the Oakley Prizm Sapphire & Maui Jim Sunrise for good examples.
One isn't necessarily better over another. Both brands employ various frame styles & materials across their extensive catalogs. Best to try on some models and see what works for you!
Hey Mcluhan! The silver look on a lens pertains to the mirror color rather than the base tint. For instance, you can add a silver subtle or solid mirror to a grey polarized lens that will look silver from an onlooker's perspective while depicting neutral color tones when looking through the lens.
Hello! There is no polarized blue lens color option when it comes to the base tint of a polarized lens. When people reference 'blue' they are usually speaking to the mirror color which can blend with the base tint in order to achieve a specific tone & color. For instance, MJ's Blue Hawaii utilizes a bronze base tint but from an onlooker's perspective, the lens appears blue. Hope this helps!
Green lenses do not distort color perception, much like a neutral gray. With that in mind, green lenses are great for reducing visual fatigue, as well as glare, while at the same time brightening shadows.

The warmer tint really reduces the strain on my eyes as I hate cooler toned places and surroundings so I opt for brown lenses
Polarised orange vs polarised rose tint,
What would be the best for brightening colours and contrast between those two options?
