    First off the breakdown of lenses is appreciated but one thing, if people really realized what military grade actually meant they would not use it to describe how durable something is. I served 8 years and military grade actually means the cheapest stuff they can get.

      Thanks Shaun! The RCI’s did pass the mil-std ballistics fragmentation test, and will protect your eyes from a lure flying back. That’s the real fishing application for this rating.

    Costas are really expensive. BUT they are the best sunglasses I have ever worn. Regardless of color!

    I've bought tons of high end plastic lenses over the years. I do a ton of shooting and required lenses that are rated at or above military specifications. But they scratch way too easily. And one thing i hate more than not wearing sunglasses is scratched sunglasses, i call them phantom scratches because they appearout of nowhere. I'd set them down on my dresser wake up go put them on and bam scratches everywhere. So i picked up two pairs of premium glass lens sunglasses and i have to say i have yet to find a scratch.

    I have 4 or 5 pairs of Smith sunglasses and like them a lot. 2 pairs are prescription, I'm not sure a lot of people realize you can order them with a script. That is one of the main reasons I went with Smith. Personally, I prefer glass lenses for reasons you mentioned. I'm pretty hard on all my gear and fairly careless. I seemingly can't scratch the glass but I will be happy if I get a year out of the plastic lenses. All day use of the glass lenses hasn't been a problem weight wise but I suppose that is a personal preference. I'm also into fly fishing and go against the crowd and dislike ultra light reels. I feel more based in casting with a slightly heavier reel. Turns out the weight of glass lenses just doesn't bother me at all.

    Bro you aint lying , not wearing sunglasses while fishing is hardcore AF, i forgot my pair the other day while surf fishing and i had to leave because after an hour or so i just couldnt do it i was blinded no matter where i looked. Serial killers are scared of people who dont wear glasses while fishing

    How are the RCI’s in quality clarity and contrast (color pop) conspired to costa 580g or Smith ChromaPop?

    • @tailwateroutfitters
      @tailwateroutfitters  Рік тому +1

      Hey Robert! I prefer them to Costa's 580G. Most us us in the shop wear them as well. They don't cast as much orange as a green mirror 580g, but still make the greens pop very well. You're kind splitting hairs comparting them to ChromaPops, both are great choices

      I Have tried ‘em all !! And I stand by my previous statement. plastic lenses = trash. They scratch too easily and the clarity does not even compare. I’ll spend the extra money, deal with the little extra weight, and I will not cry about it if they crack when dropped on concrete, tile, or even LVP flooring. I’ve seen it all, done it all, and there’s absolutely no way I’ll change my opinion. Glass is by Far superior in sight and vision quality. Period. I can Not be convinced otherwise ✅ so,… No thanks

      @@sipandsniff1744 what brands have you tried? Just please don't say oakley was the only brand you've tested. I've tested a few different lens from different manufacturers. Some high priced plastic lens have the quality of a cheap gas station pair. I'm not telling you to waste money on plastic if you dont want them. Because i completely understand. I normally go to a reputable authorized dealer and test many different pairs indiscriminately to find the ones i like. One year it was a pair of maui jims the next year could be Ray-Ban or costa. No brand loyalty is the best approach and yeah glass is better imo when they are manufactured correctly.

      @@blueridgeocean I stay far away from Oakley, and only buy Maui Jim , & costa . . I usually wait till jomashop has big sale and I’ll buy multiple pairs with different lenses/frame combos. But NEVER will I purchase plastic lenses even if they’re Maui Jim’s or Costa’s . Does not matter who makes the plastic p/c lenses, they still do not compare to glass. In my view comparing the 2 options is like comparing apples to tricycles. There’s No comparison in my world. Not only visual quality but scratch resistance is also optional. Sure they’ll break if you drop them and they land wrong but that’s something I’m personally willing to deal with , when it happens, as it has in the past (twice in last 10 years) and it’ll happen again. I WILL NOT BUY PLASTIC LENSES, say it with me…. I WILL NOT BUY PLASTIC LENSES, . now let’s say it louder for those in the back of the room,..I WILL NOT BUY PLASTIC LENSES!! ✅
