Fantastic comparison Robert! It was so good to see the tints one after another. The Sweet Violet was truly an enhancing tint. Really lends itself to an enriched vision experience.
Very informative. I'm in the same field as you are. I have more years experience than you but you taught me something valuable. Now , no longer will I reflexively recommend gray or brown or green. Thank you. I respect you and your knowledge enormously. From now on , for any client that is inquisitive about tints , I will just show him or her this video. In a way , you will be doing my job. Hope you don't mind. I love your content.
The magma orange for outdoor use looks great, and I like the idea of the yellow for use in front of a computer screen, which we're all exposed to quite a lot these days. Will have to try both of these tints. Cheers.
The last bit flicked the lightbulb in my mind! I bought oakley sapphire mirrored glasses, but I got super disappointed that instead of seeing blue tint I am seeing brown, and could not figure out why. Now of course it makes sense. Thank you!
Brown is my favourite colour! I luckily own blue, grey, pink and purple sunglasses and love them all but brown is by far my best colour to see the world in even on a cloudy day
I really appreciate the thorough explanation of tint colors in this video! The honest discussion about their daily added value and how they fit into personal style was very insightful. It's great that you took the time to show various tints, which made it easier to understand their differences and benefits. I think it is helpful to stop/start the video at key points when watching to be able to better assess and compare. This video truly reflects the same honest, professional, and committed expertise and service you receive in the shop. And the footage of the amazing Bodnant Garden, home to National Collections and Champion Trees, was a fantastic addition. Keep up the great work!
I wish I had known about the color shift with red mirrors a couple of years ago. I ordered full sun grey lenses w/ full red mirrors. I was surprised by the rather strong blue that resulted. I really don't like the blue color. I should have ordered a silver or blue mirror instead. Live and learn, I suppose. Sigh... Thanks Robert.
I kinda like orange lens sunglasses when I'm in a urban landscape with concrete buildings and everything is dark, i also use the lens on my sunglasses as a filter when i take photo's.
Damn I should have watched your video before going to my optician and getting a grey tint for my sunglasses and 15% green tint for my prescription glasses... brown, orange and pink are the most pleasant to look through, should have chosen one of these 😩 I guess I prefer warmer colord
Your videos always give me confidence in ordering more eyewear. Yes, even if I am ordering online in-house brands. I recently ordered 2 photochromic tints in blue & violet. And a pair of blue mirrored sport sunglasses with Trivex lens to match my blue bicycle helmet.
A mix between the green and the blue would be perfect but I’d want it mirrored so to get that effect with a mirror you’d need to mix red and violet I think and I’d have that mirror lense
I have the transition gen 8 amethyst with ray ban hexagonal in black and the amber/brown version of it with a golden ray ban. The view trough the purple lenses is good to relax and looks so cool, and the brown one makes everything warm and smooth ^^ i love purple and brown much, very cool 😊 Fits my face perfect, first i thought purple is for girls, but since I bought them, I'm absolutely sure, it looks beautiful on both :). Purple is my fav too 😊❤️ especially green colours looks cool :) I'm a really big fan of the transition lenses the new gen 8 is very fast with the tint ^^
Thanks Robert for this and other very helpful videos. You've convinced me to give tinted + photochromatic progressive lenses...either Zeiss or Hoya a try. Quick question for you -- can a gradient sweet violet tint (say 50% up top and 25% or lower in the reading zone) work with a magma orange or sunset violet photochromatic colour? Many Thanks!
Hello Robert, how about a video in honor of the sensational folding sunglasses CT0428S from Cartier? By the way: It's always a real pleasure to watch your videos, which have often served as inspiration for me. Greetings from Germany
The yellow tint reminds me of the colour correction on TVs to warm. When you are not used to it, it can look yellow. *It also reminds me of North American films when a character is in a Latino country…🤣
I love your videos about lens tinting, I run a local optical salon and it was only after your materials that I started promoting them and presenting the possibilities. Are all your lens tints made by Zeiss?
Wow Rob, that was SUPER USEFUL and extremely informative; thank you. As a follow-up could you do a similar video with gradients and bi-gradients? The information about the yellow lense was very useful; I will definitely need to get myself a pair of those. Rob, I also wanted to ask you a question. As someone who lives too far from your shop to visit regularly and with too many pairs of glasses to send via the post; what is your opinion about general public using ultrasonic cleaners to maintain their glasses? Is it a good thing to do? Or are we going to do more harm than good? I use lens wipes and e-cloths to maintain my lenses but dirt builds up along the edge of the lenses and nose pads, in difficult to reach places. So should I invest in an ultrasonic bath and if so do I use cleaners or just filtered water? Thanks.
Wow this was so helpful to explain the benefit of the tints for different situations! Thanks so much. I was wondering if there is any benefit to use a light orange tint for night driving to help with glare?
Love the content mate! Are there any Maui Jim lenses that are close to the g15? I'm thinking about getting some new sunglasses soon and was set on some brown aviators from MJ.
You have never ever spoken of Matsuda, Japanese spectacle. Would you like to increase your coverage of good Japanese frames? I look forward to the video on yellow tinted reading specs
Hello Robert, thank you for information which is really valuable. Will you recommend the magma orange also for night time driving? For example drive safe lenses with magma orange tint?
Just bought a JMM Ritz and it came with a subtle blue tint. I had to have prescription put in and I took a level 3 blue sunglass. Now seeing this, I am wondering if there is a better way to get that fashionable blue look, but with more effective color accuracy? It may not be too late for me to change my order! Thank you for all the great vids!
Very helpful video! Can you please create a video about great sports sunglasses? Golf, tennis, bike riding, pickleball. Including the best tints for those sports. Ria is a brand that was recommended. You havent mentioned them so wasnt sure. Thank you
Is it a waste to get the Duravision platinum lens with a flash coating? as the platinum has an anti reflection . Should you just pair the flash coating with the cheaper Duravision silver lens ?
Are you able to do business with Other labs? It'd be interesting to be able to order lenses on behalf of clients and install locally for those international
Hello, I'm an vintage USA Ray-Ban collector (Bausch & Lomb era) and it's absolutely amazing that even in 2024 you cannot find such amazing technologies from any manufacturer. For example Kalichrome, Ambermatic, Chromax, Diamond Hard etc. And all those were made of tempered glass. Chromax colour contrast technology is still superior to any so-called "contrast" lenses nowadays. Also they had almost all kind of tints and transition lens colours on their portfolio. (for example Ambermatics and even blue and red ones with changeable=transition lenses) And all of them was made of tempered glass. So, the big question is; Why everybody's tell that glass lenses are very limited with tints and other technologies? Bausch & Lomb could use those techs in 60's 70's and 80's. And none of those weren't plastic.
Interesting. I want a pair of real glass lenses due to optical clarity and refractive index, not to mention they are way kore scratch resistant. I don't understand why they cant offer more colors for glass, binoculars and scopes often have colored glass lenses.
What colour would be best for prescription glasses if I need a good tint to block out the sensitivity to light, on my phone quite often and need improvement to help me when I do my real driving test?
Hi, I am an optician from pakistan. I have a question that a person who have a prescription that, L eye 3 prism @90, and 3 prism @ 180. What is that mean, with DP os is +5.50/+1.00 80
Could you provide recommendations on the best tint, color, coating, and lens type for night driving. There is conflicting information regarding the use of yellow and polarized glasses for night driving. In my opinion, the lights from new cars can be quite harsh at certain angles, although they are not as intense as traditional lights on high beam.
Would you say the sweet violet (pink) is best for mood elevation? The winters here are very overcast and gray, and I was thinking since nice or enhancing glasses could be really beneficial for me. Thanks!
This was very educational. What flash coating would you suggest on orange lenses for everyday enhanced depth for not only outdoor driving conditions but indoor reading. Or would you not suggest that they be used indoors? Thank you
nice overview, thanks! just wondering how much consideration there should be in terms of the frame colour when choosing a tint? should you try to choose a tint that will be most aligned with the frame colour?
Definitely, you have to consider skin tone as well as the frame colour. The lens tint should bring it all together. That's why our Virtual Consultations are so popular as we consider all of these elements for you
What would you suggest for every day prescription? Caveats: i do look at screens often HOWEVER I live in the desert and do spend a bit outside where it's bright as hell
I'd suggest a yellow tint combined with Transitions Xtractive Polarised, and a flash coating in a colour to suit the frame. We can make it for you, if you like
With regard to sunglasses, I reflexively buy polarized lenses since they reduce glare. Are there lenses that are both polarized and tinted? If so what would you recommendation be for a good all purpose tint or mirror coating to go with polarized lenses for driving? For photographers if that's different?
I happen to be very green and brown colour blind, and therefore wish to know what would be recommended for me (I have also heard that you now can correct or do something to compensate for colour blidedness)
@@thespectaclefactory thanks. I am undecided to go for the gen s or the xtractive lenses. Are both completely clear indoors? I am looking to use it for work purposes and then hit the trails out of work.
how does the color of the flash coating change what I view if at all. If I recall you said that it let IN the color of the tint vs blocking like a mirror. Wondering also what diamond would do other than the look
~"The 3 typical lens colors":
Gray - 2:02
Brown - 2:22
Green ("G15") - 3:00
~"Other colors":
Blue - 3:43
Purple ("Sweet violet" ) - 4:57
Purple ("Sunset violet") - 6:06, 6:54
Orange ("Magma Orange") - 7:35, 8:44
Yellow - 8:55
~ "Mirror coating on gray tint/lens":
Gray lens, red mirror - 10:21
Gray lens, blue mirror - 10:29

😅

Cool! Hope you'll considering ordering them through us
G-15 great color. Sunset suite, violet is an absolutely amazing color.
The last bit flicked the lightbulb in my mind! I bought oakley sapphire mirrored glasses, but I got super disappointed that instead of seeing blue tint I am seeing brown, and could not figure out why. Now of course it makes sense. Thank you!
i was wondering to get a photochromatic lens and they said grey or brown, so i came to this video to choose, thanks!
🙏
anyone that gets migraine attacks should wear the green glasses outside or when looking outside, or anytime they are seeing sunlight
Brown is my favourite colour! I luckily own blue, grey, pink and purple sunglasses and love them all but brown is by far my best colour to see the world in even on a cloudy day
That sweet violet is so sweet 😊
💯

Exactly what I was looking for. Great video and great comparison!
I recently got some ray bans with G-15 lenses after looking at all the options and couldn’t be happier love them!!! Great video btw
This is so in depth ! Fantastic video again !
Who knew? Thank you, I’m looking at a new prescription glasses and I would have gone with good ole gray, maybe not now!
Please made update in-depht video about Zeiss Flash coatings in combination with different color tints
yes
Damn I should have watched your video before going to my optician and getting a grey tint for my sunglasses and 15% green tint for my prescription glasses... brown, orange and pink are the most pleasant to look through, should have chosen one of these 😩 I guess I prefer warmer colord
I agree with you I have ruby red transitions that are very comfortable I’m gonna get brown tings next
Very nice one Robert! Personally like real green lenses walking at night in the city. Dimms the lights to a relaxing amber.
Your videos always give me confidence in ordering more eyewear. Yes, even if I am ordering online in-house brands. I recently ordered 2 photochromic tints in blue & violet. And a pair of blue mirrored sport sunglasses with Trivex lens to match my blue bicycle helmet.

Hi Robert would you make a video about the effects of coloured mirror coatings and how they interact with tinted lenses?
This would be amazing!
Orange = Mexico Filter
Thank you so much for the info, I just ordered a pair of amber sunglasses for daytime driving to work.
You're welcome. Nice choice!
This was incredibly informative. Thank you!
I have the transition gen 8 amethyst with ray ban hexagonal in black and the amber/brown version of it with a golden ray ban. Very interesting, what about the effects of red tint?
You’ll get super hearing, sonar vision, you might even get more acrobatic.
Great video. Am I able to order from you in Australia? What's the process

Bi-gradient is super idea, especially sunset violet combination of something and magma orange combination with something
Great video, what would you recommend for playing tennis. Or making a yellow tennis ball stand out and improve depth perception .
Brown and orange for me
Love your channel! , funny enough I got violet sunglasses wondering if i should change next time
Guess not
Have you considered doing any videos on wraparound glasses?
they have it in their shorts
Fantastic.

Very informative 👌 if i ever make the jump it'll be grey
What lens material is better for tinting? Trivex or polycarbonate?
Is Trivex the better overall optical clarity choice?
I'm intrigued by the red lens glasses that I've seen newspaper photographs of the Queen, Elton John and Jimmy Saville wearing 🤔

I need a pair custom made with the magma orange I have to retake my drivers test next year
Very informative. Thanks. What about for snowy condition? What tint will you recommend?
Yellow is the bomb! Nice contrast & even on crappy overcast, icy days it makes for a sunny, happy day on the slopes! Imho.
How do I achieve yellow lens, any color mirror outside? Is that possible?
Sweet violet double thumbs up for sure.. But I live in the states and that may be called a different color any recommendations for brand names
Are you able to do business with Other labs? It'd be interesting to be able to order lenses on behalf of clients and install locally for those international
Up! We need you here in the Philippines!
Robert, could you cover Zeiss i.Scription?
Great demo. Thanks for sharing
