Now dont get me wrong, im a huge doctor strange and marvel fan... But Everything Everywhere All at Once was indeed a complete masterpiece, and everyone should see it.
I'm not sure about calling it a masterpiece. It's the better "multiverse movie" though, for sure. It utilized the concept way more than Doctor Strange did.
love how they completely ignored white vision still being out there somewhere in the world, and it's not looking like they have any plan to use him anytime soon
Dr. Strange was for me the easiest marvel movie to rewatch whenever I wanted. It was fun good, and stood on its own enough I didn't have an inlking to watch something else before it. It showed how strong Dr. Strange was in the marvel universe well. And now he can't do anything lately. Not even fight in his own movie or take out the villain
He was weakest in the first movie because he was still in training and only defeated the villains by using the Time Stone. His variant in "What If" was overpowered. Scarlet Witch is basically the MCU equivalent of Dark Phoenix (thus, Xavier gets killed off yet again).
@@jp3813 If you look at their interactions in Infinity War, you can see the differences between the two characters. Plus I personally think Dr. Strange was one of the better written MCU movies especially with how they introduced magic to the universe.
This movie had so much potential. It could have ACTUALLY been the Multiverse of Madness. Like, Dr Strange and Wanda team up once, say, Loki shows up and is like "He-Who-Remain!!" and they're like "your meant to be dead". and even Spider-Man can make an appearance. They can ACTUALLY had madness in the multiverse instead of Wanda being mad her kids aren't available while forgetting about Vision.
Exactly the title is so misleading ! there was no madness, just 2-3 cameos and that's it. I was expecting many multiversal heroes and battles, the movie focused way too much at Wanda rather the multiverse idea. The movie is OK but could had been wayyyy better !
Honestly I agree, growing up being a big fan of the X-Men and original fantastic four franchise, I’m also concerned about how the MCU will handle these characters.
Seriously though, post-Endgame, I think it's only NWH that was the only enjoyable one Marvel-Disney has made. MoM in paper was supposed to be grandiose but in actuality was just a meh movie. Haven't seen Love & Thunder but I've already seen some people who said that it has become way too quirky. So yeah, I'm starting to have worries and doubts now about MCU.
Agreed. I wish they'd made Loki more long term so we could've gotten more doctor who style adventures with Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson. I kind of lost interest with the whole self-love story and the 2 boring finale episodes.
>Multiverse of madness Yeah I'm only seeing... 4? The rest are just cameo What if and loki did better job and even loki isn't really a multiverse Sadge, the hype they've been built all this time, ruined in single movies
Kinda like the real America. That girl really embodies the country beyond her jacket! No wonder she’s named after them. I thought it was silly but no…it definitely fits. 🇺🇸

Wanda hurts everyone around her to get something she wants (a family), realizes her mistake, goes through grief and acceptance, and makes a sacrifice. Now lets guess if this plot is WandaVision or MoM.
Yeah, I definitely figured the "Multiverse of Madness" would contain more universes. Pretty disappointing that it was essentially reduced to a single sequence. We spent time in, what, two alternates? I also needed more explanation for Wanda's dark turn than "lol the Darkhold" given that she seemed to have come to terms with her grief at the end of WandaVision (the stinger scene aside, given that that was also a little jarring). And Strange's Third Eye looked bad in every appearance. Other than that, I had a pretty good time overall. The effects were incredible, and some of the best sequences I've seen. Just a shame the story wasn't more coherent.
There is no further explanation to Wanda's dark turn, it's literally just "lol the darkhold". It's an evil spellbook that turns all its users insane and I guess Wanda's special abilities are somehow connected to it so that kinda adds to it
@@sumbitch3rdgen I mean...we see 2 evil Dr. Strange's that are evil, and a tease for our Dr. Strange now being corrupted and a threat to all life (like the Illuminati said,) why shouldn't Evil Wanda be evil? I get what people are saying cuz I watched Wandavision and like the character, but still.

Can't say how happy I am that you mentioned the "Everything everywhere all at once" in this one, it was easily one of the best movies I've seen, let alone a multiverse one, and overshadowed this marvel thing reallly hard. Saw them like on the same week...
Probably something akin to a trailer to a movie or a demo to a game. Though of course the writing will be convenient to the characters and plot at the time.
One thing I find extremely hilarious about Doctor Strange, is how, even with all the spells the sorcerers have, they always prefer to summon whips.. FRIGGIN WHIPS!.. AND MEDIEVAL WEAPONS!.. You coulda just carried that with you (T_T).. and it's not llike they have super strength or anything lmao The writers need to set rules for the magic, and give the characters something that's not pathetically bottlenecked by the casters "human" strength
Magic ability should be limitless based on the skill of the magicians.... To properly write magic you must expand your mind & possibilities... AKA be a good writer with good imagination.... And that sounds like a lot of work.... So let's go the lazy route .. give our magician maybe 2-4 consistent abilities and pull nonsense plot devices when necessary...
Just my opinion, but I really dislike the "magic" of Doctor Strange. We have these all powerful wizards who do not feel powerful at all because they keep trying to fight with what feels like cheap parlor tricks. There is no excuse for this with the number of amazing magic systems that exist in fantasy.
@@Hungabrigoo Still better than the standard "fling explosions at each-other" or "shapeshift into progressively larger things in an effort to out-morph the opponent" magic duels.
"Everything Everywhere All at Once" had more of a multiverse of madness than this movie ever did. It's such a weird movie and I'm so glad that I saw it! 😆
I was lucky it returned to the theater for Academy Awards season so I could see it twice there. Only one scene took me out of the movie and that was the rock scene with some kind of straight-line street in the background I kept staring at on what was supposed to be a world without life. Of course the sky would be a different color without oxygen, though I just realized that now.
I've tried watching this movie 3 times now, and can't get much further than 20 mins in before I throw myself in traffic. I think this video gives me all the highlights I need. Thanks Screen Junkies, you saved my life!
EEAAO had such a profound impact on me. The music was amazing, the fight scenes were awesome and hilarious and the whole optimistic nihilism of the whole film really make it a timeless classic
She was young when she let go of her powers. Mom’s didn’t have a chance to teach her. Also the Dr. Strange at the beginning of the movie was literally going to sacrifice her.
I wish you had pointed out how the writers thought they were so clever by titling the film Multiverse of Madness because it spells out MOM, but they were really not because that makes the full title “Doctor Strange in the mom”. 🤦♂️
I think I would have liked if they resolved the movie a bit differently. Instead of alt Wanda just saying "know they will be loved" I kind of wished they did a little more with that. Instead of just saying that, alt Wanda elaborated that she and all other versions of them dream just like 616 Wanda does and that every night while she dreams of them, they only dream of her. So they all know exactly what it's like to lose it all. Making it that much more important to them to love their sons. They give her good dreams in exchange for her suffering. Turn her into a true hero who suffers so others don't have to.
Mhmm, the writing felt so rushed for that “know they will be loved” part. They could have even had a previous encounter when X goes into her mind, before he’s killed.
"or even main characters like America, who just like her namesake, means well, but leaves a trail of destruction and fast food wherever she goes" lawl. well played.
In infinity war, Doctor Strange went toe-to-toe with Thanos and he was a badass. In the sequel of his own movie, the writers decided to make a piano battle with his evil counterpart lmao
So do they address the fact that her children never existed in the prime reality? The Darkholde is like "yeah, but they could have existed, somewhere, in another reality, probably" and she's all in.
I mean she knows for a fact that they do exist in basically every reality other than her own, since she clearly has the ability to check (and we do see the kids in at least one), so...
Everything Everywhere All At Once was the multiverse movie we all needed. It was utter perfection & it explored the idea of the multiverse to insane lengths! By far my favourite movie this year👏
@@ramboluib2752 This is pitifully true. I know it’s been said a dozen times, but the worlds they explore in ‘MoM’ are just so similar to our own that it’s hard to care. “Earth but much more progressive despite Strange blowing it.” Then, “another Earth where Strange ordered a different Thai dish once and then found the Darkhold and became evil. Again.” The Spider-Men were at least much different people from worlds that were understood.
I sometimes hesitate to watch Honest Trailers for movies I like because I don’t enjoy seeing people gleefully mock things I enjoy. So I was very excited to watch this one 😂😂
Hmm, I'm sensing a pattern here. I have the feeling that Doctor Strange 3 is going to be the definitive and best Doctor Strange movie in the MCU. Because he's basically saying that his third movies are the best ones. Kinda like Iron Man with Iron Man 1 and Thor with Ragnarok. This is why Captain America is the only Avenger who has the best movie trilogy.
@@jqhart6957 yeah I watched it for the first time last year and it was pretty boring. Maybe it’s the 1940s setting I’m not used to watching. Anyways winter soldier was a great much needed improvement. Civil War is my favorite, maybe because it was Avengers 2.5 and every single Avenger had their own iconic scene.
LOL! "IT'S MORDIN' TIME" 🤣Those Morbin jokes still make me laugh. Just like when Morbius showed up in this movie and started Morbin all over the place.
This HT made me realize that they could have had so much fun with the multiverse concept in this one (while keeping it simpler or more tidy in other projects). With a character who can open portals to other verses just like that, they could have done a Light/Dark side deal like in Zelda, could have had her bring in friends from each verse he's been in, had her draw in characters she hadn't met yet for a climactic battle, etc. Just picture that last bit...instead of using Professor X for the Illuminati, he could have been part of the "no idea what's going on" crew, and then he would do a quick mind read-and-share, and then one "we'll do introductions later, let's beat this bad guy" quip later we'd be off and running. Sigh, oh well.
@@rusty_arts5829 I did, and I enjoyed it too! I did not expect them to go full crossover, and it was fun. Whether that specific approach or not, it's too bad the film didn't have that level of fun to it!
Remember the old days when they slowly introduced new characters so the audience could get to know them and enjoy watching them later And now new additions are typically either thrown in from seemingly left field or are literally just an after thought for another movie set up.
Because of this video I went to watch everything everywhere all at once And oh my God. It is infinitely better. I finished the movie in tears it was so good. I hate that you recommended it. Thank you.
Yeah, from the title and all the movies and shows leading up to this I thought it was going to be a huge, epic movie with Strange and Wanda, then characters from Loki, maybe even Spiderman, because their shows and movie all set up the multiverse idea... So I thought this movie would tie it all together like a mini-Endgame. Nah, it was just Wanda getting mad and evil, and Dr. Strange trying to keep up. Yawn.
And the obvious "diversity cast" girl who just added extra waste of time on the screen, Wanda was more than enough we didn't need another taking the spotlight from Dr. Steven Strange.
This whole Movie had such weird Scenes, like when Strange said with Americas Help Wanda could enslave the entire Multiverse.... The actor himself was barely able to overact the Fact that he just had to say that. There were just way, way too much different kind of Interests involved, crippling the last guys trying to make a good Movie for the Consumers.
When the director (I think it was) boasted he didn't watch WandaVision, I knew we were in trouble. After Black Widow's death, Wanda was the most popular super-powered woman in the MCU, so naturally they make her evil for no good reason in the first few minutes.
There definitely should have been a few instances of wanda chasing them through a few multiverses. It was really disappointing besides the fact they screwed up wandavision.
Oh. And before someone makes the argument that *"This is her comic accurate persona"* I will say this. Character consistantsy is more important than comic accuracy.
@@adriandenton6637 It gets worse when Sam Raimi *NEVER WATCHED WANDAVISION.* People were having to remind him of key plot points mid filming that he just didn't know about because he didn't bother to watch his own source material. He was weakest in the first movie because he was still in training and only defeated the villains by using the Time Stone. His variant in "What If" was overpowered. Scarlet Witch is basically the MCU equivalent of Dark Phoenix (thus, Xavier gets killed off yet again).

One thing I find extremely hilarious about Doctor Strange, is how, even with all the spells the sorcerers have, they always prefer to summon whips.. FRIGGIN WHIPS!.. AND MEDIEVAL WEAPONS!.. You coulda just carried that with you (T_T).. and it's not llike they have super strength or anything lmao
The writers need to set rules for the magic, and give the characters something that's not pathetically bottlenecked by the casters "human" strength
The writers can choose what the character does. This doctor strange is not the comic book dr strange

That's actually beautiful :)

Yawn.
Exactly. The main character was done so dirty. It was so repetitive. How many times should we humble down Strange? Is it not enough? Jesus.
And the obvious "diversity cast" girl who just added extra waste of time on the screen, Wanda was more than enough we didn't need another taking the spotlight from Dr. Steven Strange.
