Wait, so is this a game now? Go into a movie and guess what part of the movie the “super easy, barely and inconvenience” catchphrase is going to be talking about? 😂
That infuriated me. Like they could've AT LEAST had Dr. Strange get inside her mind, and say time is slow in there. Stupid nonsensical power change like spiderman.

@@barbaraseeberger4587 Not trying to explain everithing, but maybe she stays learning magic, so maybe she can learn how to better control, her powers, or have an alternate means of looking for them. But hey, what do I know. Just trying to help.
The inconsistent use of all the sorcerers' powers, especially Wong's and Strange's, was infuriating. Strange literally demonstrated he could wave his hand and chop off the tentacles of that eyeball creature and its like, "Yes, that's easy and effective, now do it more and poke out its eye, too." Wong is falling off a Cliffside helpless while he demonstrated earlier he can create portals midair and save himself easy. Also Wong helping Scarlett witch despite one of his own sacrificing themselves to destroy the book is horrible writing. The temple attack by the witch was the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Scarlett Witch was made out to be way too strong. At first I'm thinking the book made her stronger, but it didn't seem to do that for the corrupted dr. Strange as he couldn't save himself from a 15-second process of getting impaled. Just stupid. Dr. Strange can literally trap people in alternative dimensions where they fall powerless continuously as he did in Ragnorak, and he never did that to Witch or even used his portals to escape from her with America. Just baaaaad.
Yup, the power scaling or abilities were dumbfounded. It was mainly used as a convenience to drive the story forward. Neither Strange or Wanda's power are ever fully explained, and it bugs me how Strange is so OP with so many abilities, yet they make him extremely inferior to Wanda.
Minor nitpick: The reason why Wong couldn't just sling ring to save himself *was* actually established earlier, when he told Wanda that the Darkhold's temple prevents the usage of sling rings within a certain radius of it (which is why Wanda had to drag him over there manually once he teleported them as close as he could).
"She read an evil book so that just undid all that and she's pure evil now." "See? This is why I don't read." Ryan's jokes are funnier than most comedy shows nowadays.

Part of the problem is that the very idea of the multiverse is unimaginably vast. For example, if there are an infinite number of universes then it could take an infinite amount of time to actually find the universe you want. Wanda could literally sift through an infinite number of universes where her children don't exist at all before she finds one where they do exist. There could be an infinite number of universes where Wanda doesn't exist an infinite number of universes where humans don't exist, an infinite number of universes where there's no life on earth, etc.
Wish he mentioned the part where the sorcerers were ready to give their lives to save the girl and the world. Then after 3 seconds of Wanda making his buddies feel uncomfortable the alpha sorcerer is like "OK I will tell u where the temple is" so the plot can progress
Ikr, or how they make it seem like stealing americas ppwer is super easy barely an inconvenience but wanda stalled long enough for dr strange to fight his evil self find a page with a convenient spell from a book he never read, reincarnate the dead, fight evil spirits and then learn to controll those evil spirits and wanda still hasnt taken the power. yet
If you have to pretend that "torture" is the same as "feeling uncomfortable" to make a smart remark ... that should kind of warn you. As for how significant three seconds can be: well, you can find that out by sticking your hand into a candle flame for three seconds.
"Oh and they're all from things!" "They sure are sir" "Oh boy, sometimes I recognize thing, and my brain releases fun chemicals." Might be one of the funniest exchanges so far. Love it.

This is one of Ryan's best Screen Pitches ever. There are so many rapid one-liners. The bizarre logic of the studio producer and the screenwriter bouncing non-sensical ideas off each other while ignoring the main issues of the plot ("Doesn't Wanda want to be with Vision?" "No." "Isn't America going to look for her Moms?!" "Oh yeah!... no") hits too close to home. This is comic genius.

That’s been true of most of the MCU, and throw in most popular movies of the last 20 to 30 years (or dating even back to the mid 1980’s). The general audience’s critical faculties have disappeared, fans of pop culture content have taken over, and most current critics/reviewers have no gravitas (or again: good critical faculties), which coupled with the lack of strength they once had (yes, they were once important cogs in culture), we are where we are. To look at Rotten Tomatoes numbers you’d think nearly every film release is good to great! That then gets transferred to Wikipedia, so for as long as it lasts, people looking up this era’s movies will think that most every rotten piece of trash was really of high quality. Really sad. Long gone are the days when even pictures like Doctor Zhivago and The Sound of Music were largely trashed (even if ending up making more money than most films in history…but those were unusual exceptions to the rule that pictures that had mediocre reviews were not hits. Alien from a decade later was the same, a hit that was bombed. Today that’s not all the case of course). Video series like Pitch Meeting, Everything Wrong With…, and Honest Trailers should help cause the popularity of the kinds of movies they review and take down lose their caché (even if that’s not the actual intent of these video makers….I would hope it is, but who knows), but no one really cares if movies and tv series make sense or not nowadays.
@@pauldavidartistclub6723 yeah this film really wasn’t that enjoyable for me. It wasnt really fun and it felt a bit confusing for a “dumb MCU film” like it’s one of those stand alone films so it’s not really supposed to be so confusing like an avengers movie that ties things together or one which has big stakes and requires more plot. Having just watched Thor Love and Thunder earlier I have to say I enjoyed it much more, easier to follow, funnier, sad at times.
I really like the movie. My favourite Marvel character is Wanda and Lizzy did a very good job portraying her. Could have been a better movie? Definitely. But I still enjoyed it very much.
For me the worst part of the movie was giving Bruce Campbell's character such a hard time, he got stolen from, said you gotta pay for that, then logically presumed Dr Strange had stolen from the museum,(the cape) and wanted to stop him and then gets punished for essentially stopping 1 actual thief and another alledged one by being forced to slap himself silly for the next 2 weeks like he was some bad guy criminal =/
She didn't _try_ to steal from him. She assumed (based on experiences with other universes) that it was free. There's no denying that _zero_ universes' economies work that way, but at least it was explained.
Some might argue that Back to the Future II did it first, but obviously what happened is that someone took a downloaded copy of a Pitch Meeting compilation, put it on VHS, then went back in time and showed it to the producers of BTTF.
There has to be some version of Wanda's children living awful lives with no one to take care of them. America was one pep talk away from being able to use her abilities. Had Wanda trained her instead, they could have found that universe and rescued orphan versions of her kids. And sure, something might happen where they get sick or something, but she has the ability to send messages across the multiverse, had she made America her bestie, if anything happened, she could have just messaged America and gotten help. That book must have made her stupid evil because there were so many better ways to do this than killing a kid and another version of yourself.
You’ve actually hit the nail on the head here. They introduced the Darkhold in the Agents of Shield TV series, and it is a book that basically reads you back. It then tells you how you can achieve your highest goals and meet your deepest desires so that you are seduced by it completely, but the outcome is always disaster and death. And even when you see that those you love are being hurt and dying, you justify it and keep on doing what the book says. So yes, stupid evil.
@@theladyamalthea Exactly! Which I think should have been explored more. Would have been nice to at least have a flashback of her decent into what she was. It is a truly evil book, it destroys all it can, including the reader.
I agree. More emphasis should have been put on the book corrupting her, making her "stupid evil" as you say. Bc the logical thing would've been what you suggested, and the wanda that took down the hex would've known that.
Very accurate pitch meeting lol. My biggest questions/concerns from the movie were this: How is Wanda existing in other realities with her made up children anyway? They weren't born biologically. Why doesn't she search for Vision, who is actually real? Also, I think the plot would have been 10x more consistent with Wanda Vision if they had the Darkhold messing with her mind and led her to believe that her kids existed in another universe and were in danger (which we were led to believe at the end of Wanda Vision as they scream "Mom, Help!") I didn't like how they made her a sadistic, bat-shit crazy lunatic who will kill just to see her kids. They already had a mom in their universes, they weren't in any danger so there was no urgency. The writers dropped the ball on that big time.
The kids were only "made up" in the main MCU universe. The other universes Wanda's had actual children. As for the rest, yes, agreed entirely. She basically went from "I made a mistake, but I'm working through my issues" at the end of WandaVision to "I'm going to steal the kids from another Wanda in another Universe, and I'll just brutally murder literally anyone who tries to stop me" Like they completely disregarded any of the actual character growth that happened through WandaVision and turned her into a 1-dimensional villain. The worst part is that the whole reason they did this to her is quite likely just because she has gotten so powerful that it would make writing her in to future Avengers/team-up movies kind of difficult, but even then they could have done something other than trashing her character and then killing her off..
@@Astraeus.. see heres the thing they could have used her to properly set up the x men since in 1 of the timelines her outbreak sends the omega wave through te that creates the mutants but granted with the multiverse open and we already have seen another wanda no one says fully dead in this universe really
When Wanda just crushed the mages in like 2 minutes I thought "super easy, barely an inconvenience". Also when she killed the Illuminati too. I was like "can't wait for a Pitch Meeting on this" because Wanda's entire storyline was her killing superheroes in a way that was "super easy, barely an inconvenience"
Yeah that's the point. With characters like Wanda who is too OP, the challenge isn't learning to control her powers anymore. It is to grow and accept the things she can't control.
Elizabeth said something along the lines "when you become a parent, that's the first thing on your mind" and that she would probably go for the others next.
It is rather inconsistent for Wanda to continue in this movie and not give much thought about finding Vision if she could go through the whole multiverse lol just her kids but not the love of her life
Well I mean, she already grieved them and moved on. Twice, in Vision’s case. But more importantly, they’d probably never go along with her plan, so that option’s off the table.
@@helenejapa but.... She wasn't a parent; she was delusional with mind controlling, reality altering powers. Delusional kids can't be a justification, unless the person is purely insane enough to know that they were delusions (because she has discussed them with several characters) and still act that way. It is the same thing as a person breaking the multiverse for an invisible friend they made up as a kid, except my hypothetic situation, there would probably be a vast amount of time spent with the figments during childhood, as opposed to her tiny stint. Personally, I dislike the writing here, for those reasons.

@@risky_busine55 I feel like Wanda didn't really 'give up her family' till she got fucking caught and Agatha and SWORD started fucking shit up in Westview. There is an active period of time where Wanda knew what she was doing, knew she was hurting people (pretty sure vision literally told her that the people of Westview were suffering) and the mf literally kept going. Again it wasn't until Agatha and SWORD entered the picture that Wanda reluctantly decided to set the people of Westview free and even then she refused to face recompenses for her crimes and up and left to go read a book she knows is fucking evil (potentially the most evil shit in the universe) in a desperate attempt to find anyway (moral or immoral) she could get her family back without being caught/stopped. So yeah I guess we interpreted the ending of WV different but to me Wanda was already waaaaaay gone after she knowingly hid all the children of Westview in a basement and tortured the adult population.
@@jexe.4821 Saying she knew what she was doing is a bit of a stretch, especially given how she reacted to what vision was saying and how she reacted later, if anything it seemed way more like she didn't realise quite how bad it was for the people in westview because she both didn't actually understand the extent of what happened until Agatha straight up explains it to her, and even then doesn't actually believe her and when vision brings it up because it goes against what she already thinks she did. When she is confronted with actual evidence that is hurting people it hits her like a ton of bricks and she has to process it (because ofc she's gonna need time to process the idea of killing the only people she has left) before she can fix what she did (at which point she does and in the process sacrifices the family that's all she has left). it's a portrayal of grief and how that can cause you to hurt the people around you even if you don't realise it and also how focusing on your own grief at the expense of others can lead to harm you never meant, that's like the whole point of the story, it's about how people who are hurt and don't have the ability to deal with it can end up lashing out whether they mean to or not and if you're gonna say that she only took down thehex cuz she 'got caught' that's also kinda bullshit cuz by the time she took down the hex she'd already beaten Agatha and sword so what were either of them going to do? Also she'd known about sword for ages by that point so saying she only stopped cuz of sword and Agatha makes no sense unless you're talking about how Agatha revealed what the extent of Wanda's spell was. Now for the darkhold: Wanda knows very little about the book, she knows that Agatha read the book and that Agatha knows about all this scarlet witch stuff ergo it makes way more sense that Wanda wanted the book to figure out what the fuck is up with all this scarlet witch shit. If you're gonna say there's little consequence for her sure I'll grant you that the MCU in general has had very little consequence for its heroes, iron man was literally an arm's dealer responsible for the deaths of thousands, created Ultron who killed a bunch more people, and sure you can talk all you want about the ppl he's saved but that's not the same as accountability. You could argue that Wanda would want to find her family in another universe at this point, but like not only does that completely undercut the whole grief arc in wandavision, but it's also like not an explanation for her deciding to kill just everyone when she can literally just send this kid a message saying "hey can u help me find a universe where my kids and husband are alive so i can be with them? Idk I just feel like ppl really wanna see Wanda as crazy or a villain because she appears that way in a bunch of comic appearances but the legwork to her her there just hasn't been done, not to mention it still doesn't change the fact that she's the most flatly written character in the movie
@@risky_busine55 yeah I guess I understand where you're coming from. I agree that WandaVision was about greif, but I really just think that greif drove wanda insane - or at a bare minimum made her easily manipulable, first by Agatha and then by the darkold. If you were a massive fan of wandavision I understand why Wanda being just so comically evil in DS2 might be frustrating, but I think it works well enough for the purpose for the story, and semed to me the logical next step after WV ended with her alone in a cabin reading a book of unsightly evil. I also would have liked a more in depth exploration of wanda in DS2 aswell, but I don't think wanda being the villan was inconsistent, just poorly built up to. Man that film needed more runtime.
If you'd like to see epic showdowns handled with rap battles I'd suggest the series Legion! It happens in the third season and I did not see that coming 😆
Rap battle would turn this movie into a Disney princess movie. The formula is perfect since we also have a damsel in distress (America) and evil witch (Wanda)

Obviously, that's before they established what they wanted to do with the multiverse. That said, what it's probably intended to mean is other dimensions like the mirror dimension or the dark dimension, not parallel universes. Unfortunately, they really love throwing the word multiverse around, even if they mean different things by it.

@@kari2570 the only thing the wanda TV show explained was that Wanda was going to be evil. And that was at the very end of the show. You didn't miss much
I think Wanda's obsession with her kids, the only people she cared about that weren't "real" (as opposed to Vision or her brother Quicksilver) was a very specific indicator that she was being controlled/manipulated by the 'evil book'. It specifically used her own delusion (made real) as a lever in her mind. I think the book was the real villain of the movie, and Wanda was a cross between a victim and a (very powerful) puppet/tool.
Wanda brings up an interesting question for me about real life concerning how much people are innocently being controlled and how much they are being controlled by their own evil they chose. Seen it go both ways.
Considering most big movies these days try to make it by on dopamine spikes alone..... I enjoy the MCU..... But they are relying too heavily on this. And the movies are suffering for it. I love a cameo or an Easter egg but they shouldn't be a focus of the movie making process. Having a cameo is like having a plot twist..... Don't do it unless it actually serves or advances the plot.
It was during this movie that I thought of something I wanted to pitch to Ryan. In lieu of post credits scenes, there should be post credits Pitch Meetings. That alone would make the theater experience even more worth it.

I'm so glad someone else also thought it was weird that Vision wasn't even a part of her fantasy anymore. Also, another thing they never addressed is why Dr. Strange was able to use the evil book and dream walk without being corrupted like everyone else. He got the 3rd eye thing, but apparently that meant literally nothing??
I'm sure anyone who's watched this UA-cam video has put a lot more thought into that movie than the writers did. So many huge plot holes larger than blackholes...
That isn't what they said, they said it damages your soul, but he only used it once, Wanda and Evil Strange used it many times hence being fully corrupted.
There's a whole huge set of themes repeated ad nauseum throughout the film that Strange is incredibly dangerous to the universe because he lets his ego rule him to take risks that others will pay the price for and that he always has to be the one calling the shots ("wielding the knife"). And then he uses the Darkhold and performs incredibly dark magic with virtually no consequence of note and still tells Christine and America what to do at the end. Technically, America is the one who stops Wanda, but it's still at Strange's direction, just like Strange did with Stark in Endgame. So, these themes seem to have no payoff.
OK, I[m not the only one who wondered “Can’t she find a universe where Wanda just died, so she can slip in and take her place without anyone suffering”.
Rick and Morty has the right attitude regarding multiverse: if there is an infinite amount of universes, you can just hop into one that suits your needs.

I loved the "Are you happy?" moments and the watch-fixing. They were telegraphed well and managed to hit me in the feels. But thinking about it for five seconds, I couldn't tie that theme to any real characterization. What did that actually mean for Dr. Strange going forward? It was a well-done trope on its own, but all it amounted to was the best potato in the turd soup.
In a dark way, it’s actually pretty funny that that entire fight only went so disastrously because Reed foolishly believed Wanda would back down if she knew what Black Bolt was capable of.
Gonna be honest: I think Multiverse of Madness should've been a Scarlet Witch movie about her slow descent into corruption by the Darkhold. I still liked it, but I was much more invested into the potential buildup to Wanda's villainy than the debate over the potential danger of a guy who got beat by a child who knew math.
Movie annoyed me so much. Why bother with Wandavision and Loki ? I think there should be an annoying Charlie Kaufman-esque movie about who took/stole/killed Wanda’s character…movie was kinda unfocused and yeh more focus on America or Wanda might have been better. Also there was zero chemistry between Strange and Jennifer wotsit’s character. If that was supposed to be the beating heart of the film…
That's kinda what WandaVision already was, only it was her grief and not the Darkhold that corrupted her. That's one of the disappointing things about this movie: there's a better version of this story, and they already did it and wrapped it up by redeeming Wanda, which they had to handwave away to make this story happen instead.
@@beezany not that Wanda vision made a ton of sense and didn’t already slap fans in the face with that quicksilver cameo. This really just seems like marvel’s massive MCU and several different projects cannabilizing itself. Disney’s gotten too focused on cameo’s and recognizable names and connecting everything which is just taking away from the plot and overall worth of each individual project. Wanda Vision would have been fine if it was just about Wanda dealing with her grief and showing the struggle that can be when you can literally bend reality to your will, except it didn’t do a fantastic job of that. Most of her morality issues didn’t even have to happen. She could have easily let out the people and stayed alone with vision and her family. Multiverse of madness sounds like it’s suffering from the same problem. Why end Wanda Vision with Wanda redeeming herself if she’s just gonna randomly become 100x more evil off screen? Why does Wanda even need to be a big bad here? Heck, they could have done a better job if they made Kang the Conqueror the main antagonist and kick start the movie. That’d please fans of Loki and actually use something they set up adequately.
You're right, it would have been interesting to see that. And wouldn't be that hard (dontMakeThatBarelyInconveintJokeDontMakeThat ...) to portray that realistically. Regardless of how smart Reed is, he can't possibly know that our Wanda is currently the strongest version of Wanda in all universes. She was already strong enough to go ham on Thanos in Endgame and then she got amped by the Darkhold (Chthon). Even if Black Bold managed to attack it would have likely made no difference to the outcome of that "fight".
@@akselmani stephen already told them she was coming and that she was a problem. you dont have to be a genius to not reveal to any opponent a single word, pun intended, about your strategy. heck it would have been a better scene if they just let him scream at her and she manages it skillfully anyway.

Hey, remember that cool scene where they travel to a different dimension and then have to go through all those other, weird dimensions and it makes people vomit? Yeah, that happens only once. After that going to other dimensions is like walking through a door.
I was waiting for this!! Literally the entire time watching this movie I was like... man I can't wait for the pitch meeting haha. The logic was totally missing. Like the fact that America was all like "don't assume anything about any universe because the logic is different in each one" but then in every single universe Christine gave Strange that one watch for some reason. Or how Wong was like "It's ok if everyone dies but we can't let Wanda reach America" but then when she like makes his people go floaty-float he immediately is like "ok imma help you." And just the fact that Wanda can literally change reality but can't defeat (1) small girl. Like... WILD.
I actually never considered that Wanda could have pulled a “Rick and Morty” and just find a universe where her family existed but she was dead, and just replace herself. But also, I kind of took the threat as “Wanda is under the influence of the Darkhold so it is too dangerous to allow her access to the multiverse regardless of her stated motivations.” She’s insane. So there is no logical way they could have appeased her, there was no way she was going to find those kids and just stop doing evil stuff
She did also want to secure the power in order to have options for finding cures and such for if the kids became sick - she wanted to be prepared for any eventuality.
When he was pitching the idea in the video it actually sounded like he was making shit up as he went, makes it hard to believe it's actually a real movie he's talking about 🤣
Only reason I can think of is that Visions Actor fell out with Marvel for some reason. He is a friend of Johnny Depps, so maybe they didn't want him in the movie because of the court case??? @@blusafe1 Vision was alive at the end of Wanda vision, with his old memories back. Fact. Wong is falling off a Cliffside helpless while he demonstrated earlier he can create portals midair and save himself easy.
The established that for whatever reason, the portals could not reach the castle, which is why the teleported so far off

Wow, the possibility of an incursion that could have introduced the xmen to the mcu
Gonna need you to get alllllllll the way off my back on this one.
Very accurate pitch meeting lol.
My biggest questions/concerns from the movie were this:
How is Wanda existing in other realities with her made up children anyway?

@@poisonpotato1 I mean it also introduced her kids, which are kind of a big plot point here.

@@dbsasuke i mean her absorbing Captian Marvels energy was extremely unclear. We can tell from Rambous armor getting peeled off but thats all.
The 3rd movie will probably expand on that.
