I’ve been using Calculations a lot recently, many stacked on top of each other on a shape layer to add together other layers alpha. That shape layer is then used as an alpha/luma matte for other layers - saves a ton of unnecessary pre comping. Thanks for all the hard work :D
The Channels effects assist with compositing. Converting to different color spaces and using different channels to drive mattes is my main uses for these plugins. I had to do a lot of day for night work on a recent Imax movie and used different combos of these plugins to separate sky from ground and select skin tones, etc.
@@JakeInMotion Not at all. As you mentioned in the video, most of these tools are from old versions of AE (v3, I think). These are uncommon, special case use plugins. But making adjustments in color correction or driving a matte by moving channels and color spaces around is where we go when we think there's more information to be used than we can see on our monitors. BTW, I think it's great that you're going through all the plugins. Many great tips.. Now, can we have a tutorial about Newton driving an Element 3D animation...?
Could you speak to that a little more? I'm currently getting into some vfx editing studio side and wanting to know how to do this. I've noticed vendors do it.
Stacking Compound Arithmetic is quite useful for combine multiply alphas together. Only problem is that the layer position, scale, rotation is not taking into account.
Great tutorial, and thank you for using photos to apply these effects on, instead of the logo, I think we can better see how these effects work when applied to a photo, thank you again.
I saw a video from Creative Dojo that uses Channel Combiner (and Remove Color Matting) for turning black background into alplha channel. How do you get rid of a black backgournd?

I would love to see a project file to take a look at how you have that set up.
@@JakeInMotion cool, happy to. Will source an aep tomorrow for you.
@@JakeInMotion I hope you will share what you will get from that. :)
@Mark Warner I was able to see the link in my comment notifications even though it was removed 😄
@@JakeInMotion great, thanks :D
Thanks

This is where my inexperience is really starting to show.

That dog over mountains blend effect = voila True Detective :D thanks for all the tuts!
You are explaining each and every option in After Effects and i like it... Keep bring such content❤️❤️
I actually might used channel combiner after this. Thanks for another informative Video Jake!
Let me know how it goes!
You helped me alot. Your channel is such a gem.

Thanks for sharing these effects.
It’s very useful. Thanks bro!
Ive been waiting for this one!
Haha, really? I was honestly dreading it. Hope I wasn't too Eeyore for you 😆

You're welcome! Many effects are intended for photos and video, so it makes a lot more sense to use photos as the examples.

Suuuper video like always bro!
