After buying a second Signo Uni-Ball white pen, I will never buy another. They just don’t keep working even though the barrel is full of ink. I love the Gelly Roll white pen as have not had any “skipping” issues. Beautiful poinsettia card!
Glad you found one that is working for you. Sadly I've had the same issues with the Gelly Rolls even though I've tried multiples in more then one size. :(
I also gave up on my Signo white gel pens and have gone back to my old faithful Gelly Roll one from Sakura. I loved your tips for using white gel pens on your projects.
I love the Milky Pop! I've been using mine for a couple years now and it's been very consistent for me. Thank you for the ideas on alternative ways to use them!
The Sakura Classic White size 10 only is my favorite. I have about 20 of the Signo pens and it is definitely a hit or miss with them. The Sakura comes in a pack of 3 too with .05, .08 and the 10. Never had any skips or any problems.
Glad you found something that works for you! Sadly I've had the same skipping and drying out issues with the Sakura pens, and I've tried multiple sizes too. :(
Rebecca.....thank you for sharing your views on white get pen.....I stop buying Signo because they work off and on and I got tired of wasting my money.....I bought Pentel Milky Pop over a month ago and so far it's the best one on the market that's just my opinion No problems as of now....😄
Thanks Rebecca! My favorite pen, possibly of all time, is made by Pentel. It’s the Pentel Slicci 0.25 a very fine point. As soon as I saw Pentel in your lineup here I had a suspicion it may be my favorite of the bunch. Grateful for the many ways you’ve shared to utilize white ink, as well as how each brand works.
Gorgeous card! I will have to give the Pentel Milky Pop a try, I love the Sakura Gelly Roll which I use all the time. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful information, I appreciate you! Blessings & hugs!!!
I am so pleased you did this test, I purchased a box of 48 gel pens from Fiskars, I struggled with them forever until they just would not work even though I could clearly see there was plenty of ink in them..the front of the Box said LIFETIME GUARENTEE, so I sent a pic of the box with the pens to Fiskar and never even got a response for atleast a replacement..which I was bummed about as I have purchased many Fiscar products in my crafting history..I finally just tossed them..no use in hanging on to something defective..taking up space..TFS
Oh no! That is too bad about Fiskars. I was having those same issues with all the gel pens I was trying and was so glad to finally found one that seems to keep working. Someone commented on this video that she's had her Pentel Milky Pop for years and it still works! I can't even imagine a gel pen working that long! But I've definitely been happy with it so far!
Thanks so much for your review….am going to give the Pentel Milky Pop a try. Love the Signo when it;s new but seems to clog on a fairly regular basis. I think most of us are frustrated with our supply of white get pens, thanks for the help!
Sakura Gelly Roll was discussed in the Copic class that I took and I bought a couple of different sizes, but had the same types of trouble I had with the signo with them. If they're performing for you that's awesome, but if you ever get skips, definitely try the Pentel!
Milky Pop is unavailable at Amazon. I'll look locally at Michael's. As a leftie, I seem to have an especially hard time getting smooth flow without skips - ordinary pens as well as white craft ones.
Wow, am I first comment? Probably not, but loved the comparisons. Putting the pentel on my Christmas wish list. I have a designer daughter who always gets me stuff on my Christmas list. Thanks for all your videos!
Great idea to add it to the Christmas list! These would make great stocking stuffers for fellow cardmakers too! Thanks for spending time with me! Hope the rest of your week is fabulous, Kathy!
Great comparison of white gel pens and your great tips for using them. I, also, have struggled find a good white gel pen. Thanks for your review and comparisons.
Thank you so much for this video! I ordered some Milky Pop gel pens off of Amazon and received them today. They are awesome! I was using the uni-ball signo broad gel pen before. I had problems with skipping and the ink not flowing. I figured it was just me. But after watching this video, I thought I would try to Milky Pops. I love them!
Thanks for posting this review. I have a Signo that I don't like at all. It leaves a blank line right down the middle of the drawn line. I am definitely going to buy the Pentel. Thanks!!!
Same! It's so frustrating to reach for a pen and only have it work 1/2 the time when you're right in the middle of a project! Thanks for spending time with me Clare :) Hope you snag a Pentel and love it as much as I do!
Rebecca, I am soooo happy I found this video. It gets so frustrating trying to find a white gel pen that keeps working. People say the Signo uni-ball is the best , but it doesn't work for long although it has a lot of ink left. I'm going to order the Pentel Milky Pop right away, especially since adding stars to cards seems to be the new in-thing.
Thanks Rebecca for these comparisons. I too have struggled with the Signo, and I thought it was me not handling it correctly. I’m going to try the Pentel.
I always thought it was my desert climate making them dry out quickly, but I've received enough comments from others voicing frustration that made me realize it must be just how it is! I hope you love the Pentel!

I am so glad to hear that because I love making them! :) Hope you grab the pentel when it's back in stock and love it as much as I do! :) Happy almost Friday Bonnie! :) Rebecca
thank you so much for this tutorial, I have spent a fortune on white pens, signo I thought was a good one, but leaves me frustrated after about 6 months.I have also used the pentel milky pens , this is the first I have seen a pop one. will try it , even bought some from Dollar Tree. Most work well for a few months and then dont!
Thanks for waiting!! I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to have the same issues with the Pentel that I had with the others I've tried! So far so good!
Valuable information, thank you! Great comparison! My Ranger White Opaque is ok, but I just tried it after watching this video and I had to prime it. Granted, it's been 6 months or more since the last time I used it, but, like you, it's aggravating to spend money on something that isn't reliable when you need it and this is not an inexpensive craft as it is! Thanks for all the ideas for using the white, as I never would have thought of most of them. My imagination usually doesn't strike that often, only coming out of hibernation every once in a long while. 😉 I look forward to your next video!
At least you got it working again. I swear the signo's sometimes don't work even with all the priming in the world lol. Thanks for spending time with me! Happy almost Friday! :)
@@RebeccaKeppel It did work for a bit, but still not like it should and when it does, it's not as fluid and bright as the Milky. You're welcome. I was so excited to watch this video. Thank you for doing the comparison! Your cards were beautiful and I loved the white gel pen tips. I will be looking for the pentel to purchase.
Cool, I watched other UA-camrs, I first bought Sakura Decorese twice but I had to refund two separate orders from the same seller twice (must be a bad batch, or from a really old batch- the white pigment wasn't coming out) which was a huge hassle, I then asked JetPens for advice who gave me two, one was the from Uni/Mitsubishi (I think that's the car brands affiliate too) and the other was a Sakura. I chose the Sakaru white pen no 10 (0.5mm line thickness) because after researching, I found out Sakura was the pioneer of the gel pens. I bought 3, the other two were Sakura gold and silver coz' I will use these 3 to label thinks using black and baby blue gaffer's tape (best brand and inventor of Gaffer's tape or gaff tape is- Pro Gaff but it's 2x more expensive than not-that-different gaffer's tape brand but Pro Gaff is usually 0.1 thicker). The Signo was my first love, but I'm ready to try a new one. Than you for this video! How is the Pentel ink holding up after aging on paper? I find that my Signo ink sometimes fades on my works very quickly, and sometimes it holds its opacity on the paper for years.

Thank you for sharing this. I use the Signo and just thought it was me when it didn't work properly. Will check out the other pens you tried. Thank you for the co worker spam. I love black doggies, they are just so shiny and soft. I just wanted to kiss their noses while they slacked off on the job. Thanks again
I thought it was my desert climate causing issues, but I've had enough crafters comment they've had similar issues to realize that's probably not what it is. I hope you find one that works for you! My boys are 100% my heart. Unlike my kids, they let me love on them all the time. :) Thanks for hanging out with me Nicole! :)
I've ordered Gelly rolls and other white pens and markers and none of them write down a single white line. All came either expired or flawed from the factory. So, I ordered a Rembrandt White, a Derwent drawing Chinese White for all my Colored pencil illustrations and a General's white, for my charcoal sketches! Far FAR more reliable, faster and easier to apply too!! Hope this comment, helps others, because I paid a lot and I waited a lot, until I found a proper, more professional solution. PS You can get almost any white pastel pencil, it won't be perfect, but it will work for highlights, even on your watercolor paintings!!
I followed the link for the Pentel Milky POP white gel pen for Amazon and it says “Unavailable- Don’t know when or if this item will be back in stock.” Off to do a google search!
Gel pens do take a minute or so to dry. I'm usually making such a small line or dot or mark that it dries relatively quickly. I am super accident prone when it comes to things like glaze and constantly smear things like glitter glue, but I've not yet done that with any white gel pen accents.
Like most I'm sick of my signo. It's a shame as it's good with other metallics except white. Got the push I need to purchase even if they'll cost me a fortune to ship to France.
I mostly use the white gel pens in my cardmaking, but I have used and like the Sakura Souffle gel pen which has a raised look. Perfect for critter eyes etc.
Sadly I had the same issues with several widths of the Jelly Roll as I did with the Signo. I actually had two different widths of Jelly Roll that I had thrown out months ago which is why I didnt even have any on hand to show in the comparison. :(
I love my signo...I just scribble on you hand and it starts flowing...

Shawnna that’s strange as I just ordered this pen on Amazon.
@@lorikalmeyer3501 At the time I commented, I wasn’t the only one that happened to. I don’t know what happened.
❤️❤️❤️
:)
Am a panaholic so, thank you for the recommendation!
Always good to hear from a fellow pen lover! :)
Do any of your white gel pens smear? Do you have to be careful and not touch the area you have just worked on while you go to the next area?
Gel pens do take a minute or so to dry. I'm usually making such a small line or dot or mark that it dries relatively quickly. I am super accident prone when it comes to things like glaze and constantly smear things like glitter glue, but I've not yet done that with any white gel pen accents.
Like most I'm sick of my signo. It's a shame as it's good with other metallics except white. Got the push I need to purchase even if they'll cost me a fortune to ship to France.
Hope you can find the Pentel either locally or maybe UK? It is really a game changer for white gel pens!
hate signo (dry out)switched to gelly roll
Sadly I had the same exact issues with the gelly roll in several sizes! :(
I don’t like Signo; the one I have never works properly and I constantly have to go over lines because they’re not white enough.
When my Signo works, it's great, but the problem is it either dries up or stops working so quickly! I have had better luck with the Pentels.
@@RebeccaKeppel my favourite pens are from Pentel.
So which one do you think is the best?
What about black gel pens
I mostly use the white gel pens in my cardmaking, but I have used and like the Sakura Souffle gel pen which has a raised look. Perfect for critter eyes etc.
done with uniball signo forever. i'm so sick of wasting my time trying to make them work.
SAME!! Still loving the Pentel Milky Pop!
What no belly roll....hands down my favorite. Signo are real duds, gave up years ago. Jelly roll never fails and is inexpensive
Sadly I had the same issues with several widths of the Jelly Roll as I did with the Signo. I actually had two different widths of Jelly Roll that I had thrown out months ago which is why I didnt even have any on hand to show in the comparison. :(
Also belly roll comes in different widths
Yes my belly roll comes in many widths...especially after chocolate cake.
😂 same!
There’s no consistency with these pens.
