Yes, me, too. Atlet it's just another plasic-made guitar. Lot of work, well done, btw., really.
"Mom, can I get a bass?"
"I can't afford it honey, why don't you go play with your lego instead?"
You can probably get a decent bass for less than a fancy LEGO set these days!
@@coopertrooper8256 Lego is really expensive, isn't it?
Legos are more expensive than most basses somehow
Spent 250 on a lego set and about 100 on my bass haha.
Hopefully you can get a bass someday bud!
As a mom who stepped on lego's for too many years and I bought my son his 1st bass when he was 12, this thing is kick ass! I am beyond impressed, thank you I truly have a huge smile on my face right now!
As a bassist, the demo at the end was awesome! Sure, maybe it wasn't the most technical bass playing, but it was chill and pretty well rounded.

I agree. There are tons of people who build guitars, but watching this channel is always very enjoyable and inspiring. He works in a planned and meticulous manner. It is also very enjoyable to listen to the melodies of the guitars he has built.
So you’re a master builder now
He already was
@@camcantillana102 I think that was a reference from the lego movie
You beat me to it.
@@karminer_003 I know I was just commenting on how insane this guy is
@@camcantillana102 oh ok hahaha well you're right
That thing sounds super resonant, I bet all that extra air within those layers of Legos is what gives it such an interesting tone.
I would love to have one of these.
I've played bass for years and just recently got into Lego as an adult. THIS is AMAZING. I was wondering why you didn't fill the edge, makes perfect sense.
I admire you for routing that stuff.
Non solid materials are a pain to route usually, so I can only imagine how Lego bricks would feel......
Awesome idea and concept! :)
I've done it.
Easier to do than epoxy.
Harder than wood.
"So on this one I'm going to try something different" is Burls' catch phrase
I love how he just goes right out and says, “well you know, my bass playing isn’t all that great” and to still give his audience a demonstration he uses another guitar to demonstrate the way you would actually hear a bass, behind something else 🤣
One of the coolest looking basses I've seen on youtube. Piezo "compromises some tone" is an understatement, though. Great project that emphasizes style over sound.
Both of my hobbies, combined. Thank you for blessing this night with your content.
These are two of my favorite hobbies combined! I have like 6000 other ones though. . .
The whole video I was like, "I wish someone would have told him that LEGO are made from ABS and can be chemically bonded/melted with acetone."
Some glues melt Lego anyway.
An advice from Walter White.
i think it looks and sounds awesome. i love the body and headstock shape. the white epoxy fret board resembles pearl inlay. im not a fan of the open Legos around the edges but this is pretty amazing. great job.
Looks great and sounds great!
Love your decision to put the pickup under the bridge - I’ve never heard of that! - and preserve the centerpiece
And an epoxy fretboard?! Wow! Just wow!
Excellent work, I’m addicted to these videos
At the start I thought “oh my god, a burls art video without epoxy” and was extremely shocked until I saw it getting poured
You have a level of patience that I must not have, another cool build👍
Love seeing your take on a bass build!! And even though you said your not an experience player I enjoyed your demo at the end a lot!!
Amazing work, as always. I especially love the headstock veneer.
I really like how you are always experimenting. You are always pushing the edge and trying new materials. Nice work. I personally would have liked to see you seal the body sides with some type of binding material to make the edges smooth.
He explained why he didn’t.
I actually like him leaving them as is to add to the Lego feel.
very cool!!
Yes
Yes
Every time I see you start a crazy build I say no way..apparenrtly you say. There is a way.
And then at the end. It all works makes sense and. Finally. You really can play your creation...
You played. And it sounded incredible ...sounds great to my ears.
The fact you play these at the end of your video shows...it works is real deal.
_"I'm not gonna say this thing sounds great..."_
I think any bass can sound great, as long as you spend some time practicing on it.
My favourite part is how you tune your tools to the key of the background music. That CAN'T be easy!
I just noticed that and now my mind is blown
Just recently built my own Explorer style guitar. Came out a lot better than I'd thought it would. Guess you could say your videos were sort of an inspiration.
What finish did you do it in my dudes
@@zane6461 I just spray painted it white and sprayed some clear cost on it
@@JustnRTR Based on your pfp and choice of making a white Explorer, I'd say you're a Metallica fan.
Keep it bro…looking back your journey from the very first build to this one, it’s so inspiring to see how you’ve come!
"Mom, can I have Lego Rock Band?"
"We already have Lego Rock Band at home."
Lego Rock Band at home:
The one time that what's at home is better than what you're asking for
This is so cool! The tone sounds fine to me (I play bass and I'm a mix engineer), so you're good! Been following you from pretty much the beginning, can't believe how these videos just keep getting better. Rock on!
I really admire how you never seem afraid to tackle building concepts that you haven't done before.
awesome work as always!
I don't think it compromised the tone at all... It has some good bass and mid tones, with crispy treble. It's like a jazz bass with some personality of its own. I liked it!
Another toxic comment

That looks really incredible love the pattern and I can't wait for the next build
The Seinfeld bassline didn't go unnoticed haha Phenomenal as always dude!
It would’ve been really cool if you put in lego heads for inlays
this came out looking great. Really nice work! Also love the choice of colors :)
This is so sik!! That neck is beautiful!! The piezo was a cool idea to keep the Lego design maybe add a Lego thumb rest since there’s no pickup to put your thumb on, I do understand it’s just for art love to see more bass builds
I love how you answered every single question I had before I had it lol. My first though was why did you choose to not fill the edges with epoxy. Second was what where is the pickup and third was after you said what pickup you were using I thought, I wonder how it sounds. Great job man!
Have you ever thought of building a guitar using only the free wood paint stir sticks from Lowes?
Up the anty, just use popsicle sticks
or the free pencils from ikea
Sounds to me like we need all three, a nice mosaic
@@briancanterbury2451 Up the ante, toothpicks…
wow.. what an amazingly cool bass! I really dig your art!
Most impressed by the jam at the end. And I think the guitar is innovative and very unique. Good stuff.
Dude I love how you pitch correct and quantize the sound of your tools. My fav thing for sure in all your videos!
I was just getting ready to ask where you placed the pickup when you explained it. Thanks for sharing this amazing project with us!
This is intense yet amazing work Burls! Keep it up!
I LOVE this piece! The shape, the colors, the pattern...tight.
I love what you do with these unique builds! I find myself wanting to see what you could do with "traditional" materials (ash, mahogany, Maple, etc...)
Wonder if that would lose some of what makes him unique. There are a zillion builders making amazing things with those materials.
@@gzo313 I see what you're saying, but I believe Burl's creativity and imagination can still do something unique with "regular" woods. Even if he sticks to these types of unconventional builds, though, I'm still watching all the videos he posts lol
Dude last time I watched a video of yours it was your first video so glad you’ve gotten more recognition since. Your builds are so different and fun to watch come together. 🤙🏽
This is one of the greatest ideas for a Bass, in my opinion it combines one of the greatest toys and instrument together and the best part is you can make the body anyway you want :D 10/10
Very interesting. I was curious how it would retain the LEGO feel if you cut it with curves, but the exposed LEGO insides are a cool touch.
LEGO needs to see this
With all the cutting and gluing they probably wouldn't want to
Yes They can!!!
@@frosty6845 When I was a kid I used to stick my Lego Star Wars sets together so I didn't break them.

The lego veneer was such a cool idea man. Nice job as always!
I really like the self critique at the end each time, as an artist it’s really interesting to me to see what the creator thought of the project and what the vision was vs the outcome
You should make one that has pegs on the front so you can build a little house or something on the guitar
Great guitar and I really liked the tune at the end, top job!
Dude!! You are amazing!
Congrats! I need one of those
Keep going!!
Another awesome build from Burls Art! You're my inspiration I'm making guitar builds on UA-cam, I love all your ideas. ❤️🇵🇭
sorry but I have to reschedule your emergency surgery, the resin guy on youtube is building a bass out of LEGOS
that's it , priority
Man, this looks absolutely amazing! Gorgeous!!!! Love it 😍
Headstock looks great, and the piezo is surprisingly full!
Can we just appreciate burls for always bringing a high level of artistry to every single one of his builds 🙌
Why yes.....yes we can......and we should! 🎸👍
You don’t “glue” legos, you Kraggle them.
Omg the lego movie memories
@@Hctrbl it came out in 2014 aka 7 years ago
@@da-irish-harry8351 i feel so old
That looks super sweet! The only thing I would've changed, which also is great solution for not wanting to add a lot of extra weight, is pressing and bending superthin (white) wood panels against the sides and sand it so it becomes smooth and rounded. It would also hide the wood inside, around the neck part. Then it would be def perfect!
The piezo pickup has a great sound and I am now sort of interested in buying a bass that has one in it.
I would love to see someone make a bass neck without a truss rod, but like made out of something harder than a truss rod where you could adjust it slightly, just to make sure that the strings wouldn't be buzzing from it being too curved.
Don’t sell yourself short, this was a terrific build!
Those soundtracks in the background are 🔥 could you put links to them in the describtion would be nice also, love ur vids theyre fun to watch
The end product looks so beautiful, i love it

It was pretty hard to watch you play it, but I was expecting that and glad you didn't try to hide your the inexperience with a bass. Which is appreciated to see as a viewer of your builds. 👌🏼
My 9yr old lego fanatic just went crazy wanting one since he's learning to play bass.
The epoxy fretboard is cool, it kind of looks like marble
Very cool man. I love the idea!
well done.also nicely played in the end as well.
Oh my lord guys, it's happening! BURLS BACK!
Nothing wrong with your bass technique. There’s a whole historical approach to bass as a true descendant of guitar, and those people often use flamenco-style picking. Anthony Jackson, I think, plays with that style in a truly virtuosic fashion.
Love your work, man. Thanks for sharing.
That is really cool, Nice work!

Hello from Brasil🇧🇷✌🏾
Davie504: painstakingly builds a bass piece by piece. Burls Art: Chops legos into bits.
Really dig this design my dude, just a suggestion for pickups, have you considered building a new casing for them out of whichever material you are using for your builds, I know it’s an art piece but would be cool to get a nice tone out of it too.
Epic bass and great video!!!
Send this to Davie 504
Burls Art: "I know people say it's a just a 'bass' but to me it's also a guitar"
Davie504: "Stronzo!"
Let's just give this man an applause. Made everything from ground up, body , neck. Fredboard with truss rod. As for the fret board, Bendon small has a white flying V with a phenalic fret board.
This Bass looks amazing and clean. No pickup in from makes Bass look even cooler. Great job.
Beautiful build. Would like to see the neck or whatever you call it out of Lego to.
Great build! One idea would have been to wrap the body in some binding or even a thin layer of wood veneer to cover the open lego's. Stain to match the head and it would have also covered the visible wood in the middle. Overall still very cool.
maybe consider using that rubberized LEGO tape as a binding to cover up the edge of the body. The cut bricks look a little messy.
I really want to give this a try ! Inspiring as always ;)
Absolute genius and absolutely amazing!
