small tip that will probably only save 2 seconds lol - when you go to delete the unneeded vertex groups, you can left click and drag your mouse over the locks to the right of the vertex name on the groups that you NEED, then clicking on the arrow pointing down you can click on "delete unlocked groups." itll remove the groups you dont need in 1 click also in my experience "nearest face interpolated" seems to get the best results for the mesh data transfer. to each their own tho for sure!

A lot of these VRChat tutorial creators, especially on the Booth side, tend to think they're comedians so their tutorials end up being unbearable but also just not in-depth at all. I love you so much I could start crying right now lmao. I was able to attach some pants I made to my character but for some reason the jacket wouldn't work no matter what. This got it rigged when everything else failed at 6 am. You're a river to your people.

For many pieces of clothing, adjusting the mesh manually with sculpting will lead to increased stretching of the UVs, meaning you would need to re-unwrap and re-texture your model for a professional quality result for clothing that requires major adjustments to be properly fitted.
That highly depends on the amount of sculpting you do. If you just adjust it a little, like he did in the video, there will be no real benefit from retexturing ;)

@@ludwigthedragon8645 that gets a little more complicated, you can either add those bones to the armature and then copy them + the normal armature or isolate them and just add them back after
You may have messed up somewhere along the path, remember that the order that you combine / join stuff is extremely important! additionally make sure it has the armature modifier on both meshes

This is such a great video! I did however have an issue that once I used FACS to apply some pants I took off one avatar (I wiped it of everything from the old avi) to put on a similar body avi, when testing for clipping with Gesture Manager and Go Loco, when placing the avi in to a cross legged position (or other large degree joint bend positions) the butt clips through the pants severely and the front of the waist of the pants sinks inside the lower tummy area. Is there anything you can suggest to fix this issue? Amazing video though. I genuinely feel like my blender skills leveled up after watching this! ^.^
You can lock those that you want and then hit "delete unlocked vertex groups" Alternitively you can keep them and just remove the meshs you dont need / want

Depends if the edited nardo base was just mesh or if they modified the weights / bones. If its the ladder then id suggest fitting it to the modified base

Depending on what you're refitting, I recommend not using a shapekey at all if you don't intend on reversing your work. That's at least what works for me.
I used this guide and the same jacket model as you. After importing the finished fbx into unity it loses all its textures and also loses the "inside" of the jacket. (looking inside the jacket you can see through it). Was wondering if you had any issues when you imported into unity?
The inside being lost is due to no back-face on it, most materials will fix these automatically Materials aren't fully automatic, it will either give you an untextured or grey material, I would recommend making your own!

this should work just fine with physbones you just need to make sure that you are adding it correctly to your avatar to make sure the physbones interact correctly (id recommend using VRCFurys armature / shapekey link features)
unity package is a file archive (like .ZIP) you need to open your unity package, inside of that should have your model. this model will be a .fbx (or .blend/ other file types) that's what you want to import

Ok so this is frustrating. Tried to figure it out myself but no luck. Would you know why I go through the trouble of sculpting clothes to fit perfectly and work perfectly in blender but the second i get it in unity its like it shrunk and even manually upping the size in unity it refuses to fit the base like it did in blender. Using cats to bind clothes nowadays is honestly a nightmare being that the armatures are never right & im new so im shit at rigging. Is there any way to bind clothes without using this disaster of a plugin? This video is long and I’m having trouble finding the “bind the clothes” part I’ve scoured youtube for about an hour looking for a way to bind clothes correctly WITHOUT cats 😭 surely theres ways to do this without cats? 🤔

I believe this was a feature with CATS. You can also just hit the "apply all shapekey" button imstead

You may need to manually repaint / touch up that area

you didnt add the "armature" modifier

you can either re-pose your avatar to be in T-pose and apply the transforms
or try sculpting it on A-pose

Could be the export size you selected from blender, try messing around with export settings when going from blender to FBX
