    Just bought this game yesterday. I fell in love with the moment I seen it on UA-cam 2 weeks ago. About to play it for the first time now, but I can tell this is gonna be one of my favorite games before even playing it. Great its a small box for travel or camping. Packs a punch!

      I know the feeling. It goes away once you played it a few times, no worries ;-)

    Gray, I just did a review of your play through here in 2021. It's still the most understandable tutorial on UA-cam, in my opinion. Thanks to you, I purchased this game and still enjoy playing it.

    You used the Mage's power incorrectly. It says to "add" a yellow or magenta 1. You "increased" the yellow die you already had. The book and FAQ differentiate between these two terms. You should have taken a new die from the general supply, either yellow or magenta, set it to 1 then add it to the Paladin's dice pool.

    i've discovered that i tend to enjoy watching card games much more than actually playing them. for some reason i just don't get drawn in as much with card games.
    but I'm really liking what i'm seeing with this one.

      That's ok I'm sure I will make plenty of playthroughs of card games that will fill the time for you :-)

    Ah you're just like me. I also like picking characters randomly. Both to eliminate personal bias (I'm a more warrior-ish type of player), and to present unique situations/challenges.

      I try to randomize as much as I can to keep things fresh. Sometimes I will choose a character, boss, item, etc. if I notice it going unused after several playthroughs. I'm more of a ranged/magic type of player so the fighter types would receive minimal use if I chose.

    Great job! This game is both fun and punishing. It is a nice filler game for me.

      Yes, I have experienced the fun AND punishing effects trough my multiple sessions.

    Part I already has me wanting to buy this little game. Reminds me of a board game version of Telegard (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telengard)

      Wow! I can't believe I missed getting Telegard back in the day. It came out right when I was discovering fantasy computer games on my awesome Commodore 64. Guess I was too busy playing SSI titles.

    During your first encounter you combined two die (a blue from the left, a pink from the right). I thought in the rules it states you can only combine dice of the character, you can't mix two players dice together to make a heroic dice. Let me know?

      I was thinking the same thing.

      I thought that, too. However, I found this on One Deck Dungeon's Official Site FAQ. See the last two sentences:
      Q: In a 2P game, how does sharing dice work? Can I use my partner's dice for skills? What about skills like Cleave?
      A: Dice that you roll or add for any reason are "yours". This includes your attribute dice, dice rolled from your heroic skills before an encounter, dice rolled or added by normal skills, and heroic dice added by the Experience Level card (players choose who gets to roll these dice). Keep your dice separate from your partner's. You cannot use your partner's dice to pay for skills. Skills like Cleave that affect "your" dice cannot affect your partner's. You and your partner can each contribute a die together to create a heroic die. In this case, choose which player adds the new die.

    Not being sexist, but, why is it all women characters?

    • @GrayBoardGamer
      @GrayBoardGamer  7 років тому +6

      I'm not sure what the motivation of the game's creator was, but I think female characters a not overly abundant in games. I like the decision to leave out male characters, they are not necessary, and it creates a game that can be used to introduce girls to the hobby with a game that features strong female characters.

    • @ChaoticLegion01

      Totally agree, was just really curious as to the decision to leave males out.

      They could’ve created an equal male/ female version of each character for god’s sake.

    • @ChaoticLegion01
      @ChaoticLegion01 7 років тому +4

      They could, but it's pointless to do so.

    • @GrayBoardGamer
      @GrayBoardGamer  7 років тому +6

      Sure they could have, but I think there are plenty of games that do this already. Here is a game that decided to eschew male characters entirely but I do not know their motivation for doing so. Women do notice, my wife immediately saw when she was selecting a character to play in our first game together and she was delighted to see an all-female cast of characters. I think it's important to bring more diversity to the hobby whenever possible and choices like this may be what brings someone to the table that was hesitant before.
