This was excellent. Having you talk through your thought process was immensely helpful. I've seen other vids where the person explained the options, but didn't really talk about why they were making the choices they made. You also have a very good stage persona: enthusiastic and energetic. Well done.
Against the Glooping Ooze, you could have traded the two pink dice for a 3-point hero die (page 7 of the rules, "any two dice can be discarded to the general supply, in order to gain a black heroic die of a value equal to the lower of the two dice. This could have covered either the Blue2 or Blue3 square. Or even traded one of the pink dice and the yellow die for a 2-point hero die. This is often overlooked.
Well, i dont know where i got this but i was under they impression that you can trade 2 dice for 1 black one, but after you had to return the black die and take your dice back... i think i have been playing this wrong.
@@KeithJDavies so my other question now would be, after that encounter when u go up against another door, did u forever loose your 2 dice and keep the wild one?
well, in the last few weeks i've also filmed corinth, fuji, village attacks, subatomic, treasure island, and a bunch of expansions: 3 for clank, isle of skye, lorenzo il magnifico, and roll for the galaxy :)
My son and I played this yesterday and today, I know this is an old review, but there were a few things that I THINK were different than how I understood the rules. 1. If you reach a trap, you have to do it, you can't flee it. On page 12 under "Peril Choice" it says "The party must choose one of the two options now" which tells us that there is no just backing out. This makes it feel like you sprung a trap and you are attempting to escape it, rather than seeing it ahead of time. 2. The Heroic Feat die must be resolved first before the normal dice....although this is not completely clear in the book, on the same page 12, it states that "one hero chooses to use their feat and resolves it completely before the other hero decides whether to use theirs" which implies that the feat must be handled BEFORE step 3, which is gathering of the rest of the dice and rolling them. Since shields must be handled first, if it cannot be used, it is discarded (this is how we played).
For the slime fight, I think the slim skill is not activated. You got a one which can cost you to discard. And you can combine yellow 2 and another to fill the blue shield 2 and save a blue 6.
If by Slime you meant Glooping Ooze, the Skill of the Monster is activated, Richard rolled a 1, so he loses 1 time... That was already noted on the Klingon Subtitles like Richard said to be turned on at the start of the video so you get a notification when he makes a mistake. The rest of your comment is correct but it's not a goof, it was just poor play on Richard's part
@@MrLinguist88 You just made me go upstairs and find my copy. You're right, my bad -- I missed that shield aura works only against traps. I didn't hear rahdo say that (which isn't to say that he didn't, just that i didn't hear it) and didn't remember it. Well caught.
11:16 I thought the black die were wild, however here when referencing the black 4 die you say "this counts as yellow". I'm trying to understand what exactly made it yellow in this turn? I've been playing them as wild for all colors, depending on what I need it for.
A few questions, What happens to the black herooc dice after you roll them? What happens to the door cards you saved up for experience when you level up? Do they get discarded in the time spent pile?
sorry it's been years since i played so i don't remember specifics. but if you ask here: boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/179275/one-deck-dungeon/forums/0 you're sure to get a solid answer :)
Good playthrough. Just bought this game and I'm enjoying it. Haven't played it co-op yet. But I swear those dice are weighted... I've never rolled so many low roll d6's in my life! LOL
6:08 Is it worth mentioning at this point that in fact your pink dice can help you? In a combat, you roll ALL your dice and because you can trade in any two dice in order to gain a black heroic die of a value equal to the lower of the two dice, your pink die could very well help out here. I know it is commented below, but a caption here to clarify may be helpful.
Could you clarify on the rules...the reference card, under Encounters, #2 says use heroic feat. I took this to mean that you must roll AND place these die before gathering and rolling your item dice. It makes you really thing about where to place those black wild die since you don't yet know what your item dice will give you. Have I been playing this wrong? Thanks.
Stacie, I think it would be easier to get the correct reply to your questions on Boardgame Geek in the forum for the game (link in the description of the video... then go to the rules forum and see if that question was already asked by someone, if not, make a new post asking the question you want to be clarified on, if you want linking it to the video with the timestamp where the thing you want to ask about happened. I suggest this because the quality of the replies you will get there will be much higher than the ones me or Rahdo could give you because the video was done more than 2 years ago and neither me or Rahdo have played the game since then, and the people on the forum of the game are "die hard" fans of the game that will most definitely be able to help you much more than me or Richard :) If you then find that Richard made an error and it wasn't already noted in the Klingon subtitles, please comment here saying what was done wrong and when so that we can create a new entry in the Klingon subtitles... Thank you and sorry for not being able to clarify your doubts at this point. Cheers

I kinda wish you would have wrapped your head around the details of the gameplay before making this video. It was really hard to follow you when you kept correcting yourself, and it was even harder to follow you when I had to ignore what you were saying and read the captions.
It's all in the player aid and that's what he explains in the first turn of the game that starts at 2:52 On your turn you Explore OR you Enter a Room, you can't do both... after you do what you choose from those 2 options your turn is finished and a new turn begins, so you have to spend 2 time and then select to Explore OR Enter a Room
@@PauloRenato23 Yeah, I had to watch it four times to catch it. He does discard 2 cards to enter a room ... but the whole time, he is talking about how this would function "if" two people were playing. Which is incredibly confusing, as others have noted. He never directly states that as one player, he has to discard two more cards to enter a room, after discarding two cards to explore.
At 30:00, you say that you only have to deal with the effects of the 2nd floor. The floor effects are cumulative, so you now have to deal with both floors' effects every time you have an encounter.
He fled from the bear trap earlier than that... at around 21m he was deciding if he should go again to the bear trap (after having fled from it in the previous turn) or to explore the other room... he decided to explore the other room... He paid the 2 time (cards) for this new round at 20:33
@@PauloRenato23 He mentions it at 10:04 BUT does NOT say what happens when you CANNOT fill those boxes. Yes, you cannot fill the other boxes until you fill the Shield boxes. BUT, WHAT IF YOU CANNOT FILL THE 'SHIELD' BOX FOR A ROOM REQUIREMENT ON THE BACK OF THE BOSS CARD? (The back of the bosses card floor by floor requirements?) sometimes they have SHIELD boxes too. Clever those skill, item placements
27:53 This would have been a good time to use your skill of preventing one damage (free use per encounter).
Based on the trap icon I don't think you can use that skill in combat.
