This vegan cheese sauce is super easy to make and is sure to get your taste buds talking :). It is a low-fat and fat-free vegan cheese sauce, so I have both options available for you. This vegan cheese sauce is also oil-free,. I've tried so many vegan cheese sauces out there and felt that I still needed to come up with one that tasted more like cheese and...I think I got pretty darn close guys! SO many of you have reached out to me to confirm that and I do think this may be one of the best oil-free vegan cheese sauce recipes out there!

This is the 5th different vegan cheese sauce I have made in 5 weeks and honestly, this is my favorite. It's much thinner than most of them, but that's what makes it more pourable. Also, it's the easiest. Ever since I started this journey I feel like I spend so much time in the kitchen, preparing and cleaning. I'm tired 😩. Anything that saves me some time is just a great bonus. Christina it’s the same for me. I’m going to try this but I need to find potato flakes. Maybe I can just sub a potato?
@@jnex2 Actually, adding the potato flakes is part of what makes it easier. Nothing has to be pre-made. You just throw everything in the blender. I purchased my potato flakes on Amazon. Bob's Red Mill Potato Flakes are excellent. They're kind of expensive but you don't need very much. It should last quite a while.
@@jnex2 yeah sub a potato if you want. The flakes make it thicker and it's a lot easier than cooking a potato and then throwing it in, but whatever you can find works.
I’ve had a difficult time finding a cheese sauce I like, until yours. Your smaller portion I used 1/4 C cashews and a 1/4 butter beans and it turned out amazing. Love your channel. I started HCPB on July 5 and I’m down 30 lbs.

Adding raw cashew butter instead of straight up cashews makes it super smooth and creamy. Absolutely love it.
Make sure not too replace 1/2 of cashews with 1/2 cup of cashew butter - that will be way more calories and fat

I'm going to try this with some cashew butter powder, which is lower in fat.
My self professed 16 year old carnivor, took the cheese and wouldn't give it back after he had 1/4 of it. I did chop up additional jalapeños in the sauce since we like it spicey. Thanks for the recipe!

Finally made this. They didnt have miso paste when I went to the store. Subbed miso soup mix and added a piece of jarred fire roasted peppers. All other ingredients were the same. Deeeeeelicious!!!
finally just made this because I have committed to eating HCLF for at least 3 weeks as a personal challenge/self start and THIS IS THE BEST TASTING cheese sauce recipe I have made so far!! My husband, who loves mayo and butter (vegan of course) over his food just told me that your sauce is perfect replacement for mayo over pizza, chilies, tacos and baked potatoes! So here I am thinking I will tweak the recipe to make other flavours, so I'll switch the nooch for more instant mashed spuds and add maybe chili sauce (no oil, low sodium), maybe even a herby one and other flavours!! OMGosh! I’m trying veganism for the first time this summer. YOU have saved me because I started off learning about it from a couple of women ( I call the yoga vegans) their food was awful. MAKE THIS!!! Seriously. I've made several vegan cheese 🧀 sauces and this is the first one that I can honestly say is good and actually resembles actual cheese sauce. I added a little chipotle chili pepper for an added kick. My son even likes it! You'll thank me later lol

Just made the larger volume recipe but needed to add waaaaaaay more potato flakes for a less runny consistency. Added pickled jalapeno for nachos and dry basil and mixed it with rigatoni. Yuuuuuuuum! Thank you!

I made this cheese sauce this evening. I don’t have a Vitamix so I used my trusty NutriBullet and my cheese sauce was smoking when I finished. I was only able to soak my cashews for maybe 15-20 mins but that was fine, they turned out super creamy. Then I don’t buy instant mashed potatoes so I microwaved a small potato and put about 3 T of the soft potato in the sauce. Wow, it needed a little salt but it was really good for vegan cheese sauce. It won’t fool my kids, but if you’re changing over from vegetarian to vegan, and you’re determined. It works as a great substitute. I’m anxious to try the large version. Thanks oh and BTW I didn’t have Miso so it was missing completely. Still stocking my pantry for this big change over to vegan.

I finally made this sauce and was hoping it would be a hit but found it too sweet, next time I will omit the maple syrup and use half of the lemon juice and give it another try. I have tried a couple of others but still missing something. I love the idea of boxed potatoes though thanks for that ! Your son is so adorable !

Hi Sadgirl Are you sure that you just put 1 tsp of maple syrup/ agave? With that volume, I wonder why it was too sweet with just 1 tsp. Just curious before I make mine. Just double-checking. Of course, everyone’s taste buds are different. And that might be just too much for you. Thanks.
I just watched this video again and she did say a tablespoon of maple syrup or agave! But the recipe says 1 tsp. I guess I need to clarify with her. 1 TBSP would seem like too much for sure. @Hungry Vegan Mama

Can you use real boiled potatoes instead of the instant? I just already have boiled potatoes on hand all the time
imchelseaandiknowit yes go for it. The instant adds a thickness, so it may be a little watery, just keep that in mind. But once you store in the fridge it’ll thicken up.

I tried the boiled potatoes and carrots cheese sauce and I don't get why ppl rave about it. It was terrible and I threw it out too. I am going to give this recipe a try now.
I want to know if it taste anything like cheese? If not, what is the flavor profile? I also made the potatoes and carrots and cashews and nutritional yeast etc. from others and they were awful. Only good thing was the cheese color.

Your recipes are Great. One question, I noticed ALL the ingredients like the miso, paprika, maple syrup, Tumeric and garlic and onion powder ALL changed from Teaspoon in the first cheese sauce recipe to the exact same numbers But to Tablespoons in the Second recipe. Is this correct or do both recipes use teaspoons in these ingredients? Thanks so much. It's a big difference in these spices from the first to the second recipe so I figured I'd ask. Btw, I LOVE your Tahini/soy sauce recipe. Thank you for your great recipes and wonderful channel!

I made the smaller batch in a small magic bullet... it’s was really thick! But, I will add extra water when I heat it later.... trying it tonight!
Kim wade awesome. Since you aren’t using a high speed blender, maybe use less instant mashed potatoes next time. That’s what is thickening the sauce.

Just did it and it came out great but a little spicy (hot for my taste) - ant suggestion to lessen the heat? I substituted miso wiry Tamari and instant potato with normal one cause I couldn’t find either at my local store
hmmm I'm not sure what is causing the spice. Are you sure you used smoked paprika and not cayenne pepper? I almost did that today because hey look so similar. Not sure where the spice is coming from though.
You are soooo right, I totally did use pepper instead of the smoked paprika lol. i redid it now (without the pepper) and it is delicious :)
