We head into the streets of Kathmandu to discover the country through its delicious, authentic cuisine! This is Nepali street food like you have never seen! From a hole in the wall, to the most popular day time drink we try it all! Starting from a budget of $5 (660 Rupees) we give ourselves a goal to see how much we could eat for 2 people… and we were pleasantly surprised!

Oh wow! The streets look like they were barely wide enough for people to walk on. That said; let’s add everything you see. The tiny places that you have eaten at look amazing. Crazy thing is; 2 steps and you’re out in the street. Great video of what is a very very old city. I have no idea how old it really is.
The temples and monuments around this particular city were built at around 1700s, although some neighbouring temples have been around as long as 5th century. And yeah, the streets are narrow and a nightmare on a busy day, but it definitely adds a dictinct character to it, even to the locals 😄
25 to 30 years ago, Kathmandu was nothing near what it is now. We had so much local produce and never had to rely on imports. It was clean, less pollution, less populated, less crimes and surely less traffic. These days it seems like everything is piled up in same pile hole. So many natives of Kathmandu either moved out of country or moved outside Kathmandu. So many things happened to Nepal in the past decades. Civil war, massive earthquakes, political turmoil, Assassins of Monarchs etc etc.
Anyway, Welcome to Nepal guy's, watch out for streets scammers. There are many of them in Thamel area or tourist areas. Must visit Pokhara though, it will be incomplete without Pokhara while visiting Nepal. Service industry is better in Pokhara than Kathmandu and people are very friendly and humble.

If you are in Kathmandu, you got to try the local food. The Newari food like Yomari, newari bhoj set, chhwela, etc. Also you should try tibetan food called Thukpa.
