The crazy part is everybody looks for his speed and is insanity when it comes to drumming but people don't realize technically this is way more difficult than probably any video he's done
nah, the anmials as leaders one is way way harder. if you take out memorization of of this excerpt, it's a lot less impressive
@@hazardeur Almost all music (excluding jam bands) requires memorization. How does memorizing an already difficult piece to begin with and making it nearly impossible to play for most musicians equate to being less impressive?
@@ShrubPlays my point is that all of these parts are really not difficult at all if separated. the only impressive thing here in my humble opinion is that there are so many different parts, hence the memorization. i don't wanna say it's easy but that's not the point of the OP. memorization is a lot easier than perfecting technique. if i had to choose between playing this and that AAL track, i'd go for this 10 out of 10 times. Given enough time, I know i can do it eventually with reasonable effort. The AAL on the other hand.....not so much. Or at least not with a very very unreasonable amount of effort.

Well for the massive change in signatures the actually drumming stays very constant. Probably polyrhythmic but the drums anchor it. The drum part itself doesn't scream extraordinarily difficult., Don't get me wrong. Not easy. But if someone has played for a long while or even has just put crazy amounts of practice across a couple years this is very doable.
Same here. There's a lot of different signatures here.
Outside of the runs at the end of the phrases the pattern repeats so it's conceptually a tiny bit easier
The fact that you can't tell that it's going on is a sign that the recording of the song is super solid

C'mon you even didnt watch those who are considered to be the best....... This dude is brilliant but he play with triggers and sounds just fast and straight like a machine. His sticktricks arent needed in music. There are drummers who play way more lively and more creative....... I would take ever solo of steve gadd over this one
when you looking at pure drumming skill and technicality i think that him and greyson nekrutman could definitely be up there
but when you consider how many other factors there are in drumming (one example being resisting the urge to play insane chops every bar 😭) they tend to fall on the list a lot
i will say this though they are probably one of the best drummers right now

Love it, dude! This has been one of my favorite, most awe-inspiring Dream Theater songs since Systematic Chaos came out in 2007. This part of the song in particular was always one of my favorite passages in any Dream Theater song. I especially like the ragtime piano by Jordan Rudess, and the slow breakdown shortly after that. Great work, man!
