Taylor stumbled onto a blog written by Ronan's mom where she wrote about the journey from finding out Ronan had cancer to his battle and ultimately him passing from cancer, she was so moved by the story that she wrote this song, a lot of the lyrics are taken directly from the blog and she credited Ronan's mom as a co-writer on the song!
I was just listening to a tiny part of this song and now I'm literally in tears bawling my eyes out what a beautiful song so emotional and sad that poor little boy died of cancer
Just watched an interview with Ronan's parents by Katie Couric...bitter sweet talking about Ronan...and they are now expecting the little brother or sister that Ronan had wanted, Bless them all....and thanks to the platform that Taylor gave them, they're raising a lot of money that might help fight that horrible disease.
With all the Eras Tour hype, I decided to listen to her whole discography - never really being a a huge Taylor fan or knowing her music beyond the radio hits. I got to the Red album, and let me tell you - I turned into an absolute puddle when I got to this one. Music and storytelling that elicits this kind of emotional response is the reason why we do it. It's why fandom is a thing. Despite the fact that it's a sad emotion, despite the fact that I literally wept in my car, I love it. What phenomenal song writing. For background: she pulled the lyrics from a blog written by a mother who lost a child to brain cancer. She gave the mother a song writer credit and the revenue proceeds to cancer charity.
I was excited to see you react to this song. I have such a strong connection to this song. My son was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and passed away when he was three. It is hard to lose a child, but even harder when they fought so hard. He was my best three years. ❤
Chase, I tell you I’ve been listening to this song for over a decade and it STILL makes me cry lol I’m literally crying right now hahaha RIP little Ronan, and all the other children lost too young.
And the fact that Taylor had a photo in her house of her and Ronan's sister as a baby still in like 2018-2019 when the scene with Abigail for Miss Americana was filmed...when I found that out I sobbed so hard
Taylor actually helped name her too. They are still close they recently went to her eras concert and are still deciding if they are going to the concert on Ronans birthday.
@@chelcbarnett I didn't know she helped to name her, I know about how they went to the concert in Glendale, I saw it on twitter and read the blog, but somehow it slipped my attention that they're deciding if they'Re gonna go on Ronan's birthday
CHASE: "You better not be crying." ME: *sobbing uncontrollably*. (The only reason you didn't cry is because you didn't know for sure what the song was about; it's killer). Love your T-money reactions more than anyone else's. ❤
Taylor only performed this live twice: once at this fundraiser, and again when her Rep Tour was where the Thompson family lives. Taylor gives them tickets to her shows, and she sang it for them that night. It is hard for her. The song was never put on an album; it was released as a single, with proceeds going to the cancer charity. When Ithaca Holdings (Braun) bought Big Machine, and then sold Taylor's music to Shamrock Holdings (Roy Disney's family) it wasn't clear whether the new owners would continue the arrangement. It was written in the Red era, and is on Red(TV) -- and it still supports cancer research. Being on the album will boost the donation a lot.
The proceeds to this song go to children's cancer research. Mya has since had a baby, a girl they named Poppy Ronan, Ronan also had twin brothers, older than him.
Ugh this song hits so hard. Kind of like Soon You’ll get Better. I’m not sure but I’m sure her mom’s brain cancer diagnosis made Ronan’s story hit even harder 😢 Beautiful song, heartbreaking. great reaction. Would love to hear your thoughts after learning the back story to this song.
This song was about a little boy named Rowan his mother would write daily stories about him and she came across it and took some of the stories that his mother would write about her son and she made it into a song and she put the mother as a co-writer and they use the song for the Rowan Foundation to find a cure for cancer and and when she did the re-recordings of her albums she included this song and her Red album so that she would own all the rights and gave it to Rowan's mother so she can continue to distribute it and use the proceeds to raise money for cancer research
It's about to be Ronans birthday and theres a taylor concert on that day, so we may get another Ronan live. Ronans mum is still deciding if shes going that night.
Chase, gallant effort... but all I have to do is hear the word "Ronan" and I start sobbing. When she struggles so hard not to cry when singing it I black out from the pain.
i would love to see you react to her tiny desk concert! she really shows her beautiful voice and amazing personality there, i think you would love her even more after! thank u for your reactions, much love from brasil to you
It's sang from the POV of Ronans mother. These are things the mother wrote in a blog as she went thru this battle. Taylor found the blog and was following her story. Made the mom a co writer and the rest is history.
This is about a real kid named Ronan Thompson, who died of cancer. Taylor says she stumbled on his mom's blog, and she was so moved that she wanted to write a song. A lot of the lyrics are directly from the blog, and she credited Ronan's mom as a songwriter. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronan_(song) I love your channel and especially your Taylor reactions 😊
I know im late, but im a huge fan of taylor and have been for almost a year. This story is about a little boy named Ronan taylor meet him at a event called StandUp2Cancer and she was so attatched. Taylor got to know him very well and when he unfortionally passed, Taylor and Ronans mom wrote this song together 🥺💗
The mother actually wrote this song. Ronan was a sweet, little boy, who had, and died of cancer. All of the proceeds from this song and performance went to the children’s cancer foundation. Ronan loved dinosaurs and cars and colors. Hence “I remember your bare feet down the hall way, I remember your little laugh. Race cars on the kitchen floor, plastic dinosaurs. I love you to the moon and back” “I remember the last day, when I kissed your face, & whispered in your ear…Come on baby, with me, we’re gonna fly away from here. Out of this curtained room, and this hospital grey will just disappear.” Always tears my heart up.
fun fact all the refunue from the song went to children canser research and if ur wondering why she was a bit teary its because her mom had canser that time and had a relaps
TOO bad that you didn't get the video with all of Ronans photos....precious and beautiful little boy who fought cancer ....his mother said "you were my best four years.

She credited her as a co-writer so she would always receive royalties for the song!! Taylor is the 🐐!

@@time4sanityI saw on the foundation page that they gave their youngest child ronans name for her middle name 🥺
Flowers pile up in tbe worst way is the absolute most heart wrenching line shes ever penned.
It’s the “what if I kept the hand me downs you won’t grow into” for me
“No one knows what to say about a beautiful boy who died. “
I totally understood what she meant by that
You can just tell she is fighting back tears…. This song tears me up it’s so beautiful

How she held it together singing thing is a miracle
She left that performance with her parents crying

If you haven't seen the video for this song it's worth the watch but you won't be able to hold back your tears.
As a mom, I cry as soon as I hear the first couple of notes when this song starts. Maya is my favorite superhero.
You would cry if you watched the UA-cam video with lyrics - 101% guaranteed !

She had a hard time getting through this. Check out the back story. She is special.
The song is a tribute to Ronan Thompson. And crying means you have a soul. Manhood isn't based on whether you cry.
There is no composure when it comes to “Ronan”; This is a song you gotta pull over to the side of the road if it comes on bc …
I apologize, i sobbed. I cant listen to this song without full on sobbing.
