      a catalyzed (2k) urethane clear was used for the top-coat. Auto Air Colors are compatible with any clear type: urethane, lacquer, polyester, water-based, enamel, low-bake powder coat and more

    The Candy 2o's look good, but what about them being NOT colourfast??

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  3 роки тому +1

      All dyes, including all solvent-based, 2k urethane dye colors and candy2o are not as lightfast as a pigment-based color. While candy2o and other dye-based automotive colors are suitable for automotive refinishing, they will lose color over time; not as bad as a fluorescent, but again, they are not as lightfast as an automotive pigment-based color. Thank you.

    When sparying candy would it be easier if you spray a blue base, red base, or the same color base as the candy you choose? Instead of using a silver for all candies.

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  6 років тому +2

      Yes. candy-pearl colors (candy2o mixed with a 4300 or 4500 Series Color) applied over a color-keyed sealer cover quick and orientate evenly. When applying candy2o neat (i.e. not mixing with a pearl), applying over a silver or gold base is required for a true candy finish. to assist with coverage and even application, make a "cheater coat" between the metallic base and candy2o: cheater coat is mixing candy with the metallic and applying that over the metallic base before applying the candy. Thank for asking, hope this helps!

    I want to paint an 81 Camaro in gm lemans blue paint.
    I want it to have a good amount of high lite interference (just like the light side of the gas tank object in this video)
    If I put down a lite grey sealer coat over the body work, then several coats of base coat (solvent based lemans blue), then some type of "high lite interference coat", then a solvent based urathane clear coat, would that work?
    I want the color to stay as close as possible to gm lemans blue, but I want it to really pop when the sun hits it.
    Is there any problem using solvent based bc/cc products with your high lite interference coat products, or sticking with all water based products is the only way it can work?

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  4 роки тому

      Water-based paints can be applied over solvent-based paints; Hi-Lite Interference Blue can be applied over the solvent-based Le Mans Blue. This is a tri-coat, candy-pearl paintjob. If using another paint type and method, make a test panel to determine results. Its the use of a dye-based candy color mixed with a pearl, over which the Hi-Lite Interference pearl is applied, that creates the dimension in this finish. Thank you.

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  4 роки тому +2

      Yes, Createx paints work well for polycarbonate application / RC painting using the reverse painting method so the plastic is the top-coat clear.

    Can these products be used with other water based clear coats? I’m thinking this may be a good choice for painting guitars, but I’d like to stay away from 2k paints and the more toxic automotive paints for my gloss clear finishes.
    Thanks!

      Auto Air Colors and candy2o are compatible with most any clear type. If top-coating with other than a catalyzed clear, apply 4040 Bleed Checker over candy-pearl colors to prevent the dyes from leaching into the clear, autoaircolors.com/custom-automotive-paint/4040.html.

    How much product would I need to paint an entire car? Say a 57 chevy shortbed truck? I like Poison Green.

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  6 років тому +4

      Roughly 3 quarts sprayable will work for both sealer base and candy-pearl. For Poison Green, AutoBorne Sealer White mixed 1:1 AutoBorne Sealer Base will work, reduce sealer mix 10% per vol. 4012 High Performance Reducer. for candy-pearl, candy2o Poison Green 1:1 Auto Air 4304 Pearl Lime Green will work. Mix candy & pearl 1:1, then add 4030 Balancing Clear to the candy-pearl mix 3:2 or more (could simply mix candy / pearl / 4030 1:1:1), reduce candy-pearl-4030 mix 10% per vol. 4012 HP Reducer. Of course amounts vary depending upocn door jambs, under the hood, tonneau cover, etc. but 3 quarts sprayable should be enough for cab and bed, if tonneau cover and painting inside of cab, may need 1 gallon sprayable. For further information, please email us at info@createxcolors.com. Thank you.

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  5 років тому +1

      Hi Kyle, All Createx Colors paints may be inter-mixed and inter-coated. Applying candy2o as a mid-coat over a metallic base (a traditional candy paint job) is certainly doable. Mix 4030 Balancing Clear 3:1 candy2o, reduce 5 - 10% 4011. Mix thoroughly for 1 minute, allow to acclimate for 10 minutes after mixing, strain then spray. for complete candy2o product info and mix ratios, please refer to its tech data sheet, thank you. creatextech.com/pdf/tds/candy2o-TDS.pdf

      can i use 6013 AutoBorne Silver Sealer, with 6000 AutoBorne Transparent Sealer with candy concentrate flakes instead save me 200 bucks

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  7 років тому +1

      Our products are inter-mixable with other types of materials. Always test first, especially before painting a car. 6013 Silver Sealer is not a high-metallic count finish silver, more of a ground coat for silvers to create flawless silver finish. If applying flake over our paint using 6000 AutoBorne Transparent Sealer as the carrier, which works well, apply over Aluminium Coarse as suggested in your first message. Either way, a flake finish is much different compared to applying candy2o over a metallic base, www.candy2o.com

      For trucks and large vehicles with door jambs and under hoods, 3 quarts candy2o + 3 quarts 4030 Balancing Clear + 1 pint of 4012 High Performance Reducer. This is only for candy2o, our pearl and candy-pearl base coats require much less material - 3 quarts total material spray-able or less when color-keyed with AutoBorne Sealer, www.autoborne.com.. • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  4 роки тому +1

      Hello. candy2o, www.candy2o.com, is our line of candy colors, that is aniline dye-based, 100% transparent colors compared with pigment-based colors which cover translucent. Before candy2o, there were Candy-Pigment Colors, which have since been discontinued; as their name suggests, these colors were pigment-based. Auto Air Colors is a collection of graphic colors, metallics, pearl-flake colors and candy colors, candy2o. Thank you.

    What does the intercoat do?

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  6 років тому

      Applying inter-coat over the aluminum fills in the grooves in the aluminum panel which has been sanded, to create a smooth surface. Without the inter-coat, the dyes in candy2o will build-up along the edges of the scuff marks, creating darker values of the hue which are visible in the final finish. Applying inter-coat to an aluminum panel before candy helps achieve a cleaner looking finish.

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  6 років тому

      Yes, many more coats will be required and the value of the candy finish will be a bit brighter. Applying a candy-pearl over white is not recommended, applying over a color-keyed sealer allows for coverage with minimal coats for even, quick drying candy-pearl coverage.
