I just straight up love the Createx tech videos. I learn something from every single one and I usually learn a whole lot. I’m very grateful to all involved for producing and delivery in them.
The reason why blue makes white whiter is because titanium dioxide is actually quite yellow. It's very opaque, decently white, completely chemically inert and very inexpensive, but it's not white like the much more expensive barium sulfate or very very poisonous lead carbonate. Since titanium dioxide is yellowish, a bit (A SMALL BIT) of blue will neutralize that yellow. This will work even better with things that fluoresce blue in UV which is why all your printer paper, white fabric, etc, which have optical brighteners, fluoresce under a UV light.
Just goofing around I found that if you add 2 parts Autoborn silver sealer to 1 part tequila yellow candy you’ll get a super, super shiny gold. IIRC, I added some 4050 and a touch of 4011. Shoots really well in my Eclipse I paint fishing lures and use it as a base over white opaque under brown tones. Makes the color pop instead of being flat
Great videos very informative. I was watching chris on another video and he said that if the paints are kept in a sealed container then it had no pot life after mixing the reducer in it.
You and i must have had some of the same instructors back in the day, the way you describe some of the ways we see colors. I even had the ponytail LMAO
When you were talking about adding blue to white to make whites whiter due to "blue blockers"......I'm an art teacher and I was going over color theory to a beginners high school class and one of the best analogies I've heard came from a girl who said something along the lines of "Kinda like adding salt to something to make it taste sweeter". F'n EXACTLY! ....A+ for the semester.!
Yes, Illustration Colors can be mixed with candy2o. As candy2o are concentrate dyes, adding some 4050 UVLS Gloss clear to the mix is recommended, at least a 4050 1:1 candy2o mix, then add Illustration Colors. Thank you.
Question, if sepia based black is yellow oriented, which complements purple, would it be beneficial to combine a sepia black with/or over a purplish black to get a deeper more neutral oriented black?
All Createx paints are inter-mixable, including candy2o and Wicked Colors & Illustration Colors. candy2o are dyes and both Wicked W070 Sepia & Illustration 5063 Sepia are pigmented colors, so once they're mixed, the resulting color isn't a true candy as its not 100% transparent. Thank you.
Are Createx paints compatible with 2K clears? I'm looking for a good paint for creating a "burst" effect on my guitars, but I need something that will work with a 2K clear.
Yes, Createx paints are compatible with catalyzed (2k) solvent-based urethane and epoxy clears, as well as nitrocellulose clears. Thank you. ua-cam.com/video/JuroIpJOCNo/v-deo.html
Mottling refers to a blotchy, uneven build-up of color. Orange-peel refers to the texture of the final finish. Each are a different type of defect. Thank you.
Generally, 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear is mixed with candy2o 6:1 for spray-gun, 1:1 for airbrush, although mixing ratios can be adjusted depending upon technique and application. That's 6 parts 4050 to one part candy2o, which are concentrate dyes. For 1-gallone 4050 Gloss Clear, add 22oz. candy2o Black. For more refer to the candy2o tech sheet available at www.creatextech.com. Thank you.
Request : Color theory for Browns. I always end up with poop Brown. But I see replica tank guys ,gunpla ,and prop people have green browns, red browns, alot of military colors from sand to chocolate Brown. I haven't the foggiest clue how to achieve those effects.

Technically, only a 2k coating has a pot-life. Thank you.

Hello. Can Illustration colors be mixed with Candy2o like Wicked colors?

Where can you get those fisheye filters? I googled it and didn't see them anywhere...
As Craig mentions in the video, they’re not out yet and Fisheye Filter plans to release them in a few months. Thanks.
@@CreatexColors I must have missed that. Thanks again.

Nice vid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, they're made to be topcoated with a 2k clear. I've used 2k clears over createx on projects for years. The only problems were user error. Lol.

Gonna try that cobalt blue trick.
thanks for watching!
By saying the paint will get a modeling to it, are you meaning what some people call 'orange peeling'?
Mottling refers to a blotchy, uneven build-up of color. Orange-peel refers to the texture of the final finish. Each are a different type of defect. Thank you.
Thank you for clearing that up. Admittedly I was on a train when watching so was hard to hear lol.
What is the ratio of black to clear per gallon and per clear?
