Just starting to learn about candy coat’s, and was thinking of painting my beetle candy apple. However this black cherry color blend looks like it would work really well on the curvy beetle, so might go with something like this instead.
Using black as a base coat is always the best. I used your candy red and mixed with a candy orange to get a darker orange. I used it on a model truck I built. Only thing negative is the fact I have to shine a bright light on it so the paint can pop out. Since the truck has a lot of curves it does pop out. The color you painted would be my second choice to paint my newly restored 1953 Ford F100. My first choice is a murder red.
Apply a gloss clear top-coat over the candy for the effect to be visible. A candy color needs a gloss clear to bring the color to life, create its dimension and allow any pearl/ metallic effects to visible. Thank you.
Congratulations! Wonderful job! I have a question: after the candy do you apply varnish (clearcoat) ? Thanks ! I am Brazilian...Parabens! Trabalho maravilhoso! Tenho uma dúvida: após o candy você aplica verniz?
Depends, could be anywhere from $5,000 - $15,000 or more. A complete refinish on a Navigator that has a black base in good condition and doesn't need door jambs, under the hood, etc. sprayed could be ~ $7,500. Thank you.
I have a black base finish of this colour on my Flying V guitar, but I’m finding it hard to make the color pop. Any suggestions on lighting if I’m trying to film a video with it?
If I wanted to ghost flame in the same color say candy black cherry over silver but wanted to ghost flame would I just keep the mask on for the firt 1-2 coats then cover alll with silver? I am painting RC car bodies?
Yes, ghost flames can be achieved with the same candy2o color by creating different values achieved by applying more coats for the flame graphic area. Test how many coats are needed for the ghosted graphic versus base portion of the color. Thank you.
Hi Chris, Love your videos. I'm learning airbrush, haven't tried it yet. I see you're using the Iwata HP-TH2. When I saw you with an Iwata, I really got excited. I have a Iwata Eclipse Hp-Bcs Airbrush. And a 6 Gal. 150 PSI Pancake Compressor. (ALL unopened). Question: I want to Airbrush those colors like the Murdered Candy on much smaller metal projects (Around the size of credit card). Can I still achieve the same amazing results with my less powerful equipment? If so, Any Technical Suggestions that you can offer is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hello. Yes, the murdered candy technique with candy2o and Wicked Colors can be done with an airbrush such as an Eclipse HP-BCS. To start, please review our hard-surface application guide and candy2o tech sheet, each available at www.creatextech.com. Thank you.
The black is beautiful, like the Black Currant Pearl on my Honda. Can you do a show on the difference between factory paint jobs and custom, aftermarket ones? I have always heard factory ones were better. BMW offers customers individual paint jobs for some models, thinking of getting one.
Best way to determine the difference is to make a test panel following the steps in this video, and compared it o an OEM finish you've in mind. Thank you.
I used your exact Candy-Pearl Black Cherry recipe on a gold base and I'm not getting the expected flip/flop. I made the mix and then waited a few days before using it. Is it possible that the Cosmic Sparkle dissolves over time?
The ratios are listed below the video. The candy2o colors is made by mixing 4665 Brandywine 2:1 4659 Deep Purple, www.candy2o. Mix with this some pearl using Wicked Cosmic Sparkle W442 Red and W444 Blue. wickedairbrushcolors.com/pearl-flakes Thank you.
Excellent! How much? Depends on a lot, there's everywhere from ~ $7k for refinishing the panels of an existing finish that's in good condition to over $25k for a restoration, show quality finish. Thanks.
We recommend mixing candy2o intended for use within a 24-hour period. Actual shelf-life of a candy2o mix may be extended without loss of spray performance provided the bottle is capped air-tight at all times unless actually pouring paint, and kept in a cool, dry place away from direct light, such as a paint cabinet. Thank you.
It said on the clear you mix it with your candy colors does that mean you’re putting a clearcoat on every layer or you do you just do it on the last one or am I not understanding that correctly
I have a question for you so I'm getting my Peterbilt painted and I wanted to have a candied black cherry I wanted to pop but the manufacturer for my Peterbilt only uses axalta paint, what would be my best option when I pick my colors for my paint? I wanted to pop like that first platform you showed that had a silver base
The part numbers for the candy2o colors and Cosmic Sparkle Color pearl flakes are listed in the videos comments. A silver metallic finish can be sued as the base for the candy-earl paintjob. Thank you.
Best to make a test panel to try your sequence. What is shown in this video works but there’s other techniques we suppose, although not sure why you wish to apply an intercity before the candy20 color unless you wish to smooth it flat. Sand the clear with 600 - 800 grit before applying candy20. Thank you.
Love your color and great video.. question . If I use your pearlized product how many once will be needed to to hood roof and trunk in multiple color lowrider style graphics. Thanks
Material volume requirements depends upon color type and technique, especially with intricate graphics such as a lowrider design. On average, if applying a Createx pearlized color over a color-keyed AutoBorne Sealer Base, about 50% the material is required. For a hood and trunk lid, 32oz. of AutoBorne Sealer will be enough material to cover both, with about 16oz. of a pearlized color being enough for color. Not all hues cover the same; best practice is to make a test panel prior to the actual paintjob to determine technique and material amounts required. Thank you.
Back in like 1993 I was in college, walking thought a parking lot on my way to class I came across a 72 Chevelle, and it looked black. As I got closer it still looked black until I got right up on it and where the sun hit it it looked dark purple but just around the spot you were looking at other wise the car still looked black. How does a person get that effect where only the spot you are looking at is "purple" but the rest of it still looks black? Is this something you can do? The color I would like to see is Cobalt Blue with this effect. I think some may call it Midnight Blue. Hopefully you could give this a shot. I just came across you channel, I am now a follower. Thanks for your work.
I'm wanting to know if I can purchase this color already mix. I like the black base color. What is the price. I would like to paint my Kawasaki ZX14 this color. Thanks.
Awesome again! I did a similar thing on a project the other day. Candy 2o Brandywine mixed with cosmic sparkle autumn red over black base. Pretty nice look! Although now I wish I'd thought about mixing some candy purple into it as well!
Different. The best way to determine the resulting finish is to make a test panel. Experiment with color options on a few spray-outs before deciding on a paintjob. Thank you.
A candy over a black base works, especially when pearl-flake is added to the candy. Make a test panel, try adding some W444 Cosmic Sparkle Blue or W423 Hot Rod Sparkle Blue to the candy blue applied over a base of 6002 AutoBorne Sealer Black. Thank you.
Createx paints do not have to be sanded prior to paint. If sanding, so as to remove any imperfections, dry sand with 800-grit sandpaper, then apply an additional coat or two of paint to hide the scuff marks as they will appear in the final finish. candy2o should not be scuffed prior to clear as the scuff marks will appear in the final finish even if additional coats are applied after. For more about how to use Createx paints, please review the application and technical guides available at www.creatextech.com. Thank you.

Very informative video, I didn't think this color existed. For someone attempting to paint their car, about how much product would be needed to cover a 4 door sedan? Thank you!
Amount of material required varies with technique, etc. but about 3 quarts sprayable candy-pearl will work for the average 4-door sedan and 2 quats of our AutoBorne Sealer Black. For more info, please review the tech sheets available at www.creatextech.com and email us at info@createxcolors.com. Thank you.
Why do you mix in purple? I would prefer just the brandywine kandy, without the purple kandy and the blue and red pearls. It takes away the brandywine and just doesn't look good to me.
The paint codes are listed in the video's description: candy2o 4665 Brandywine, 4659 Deep Purple; Cosmic Sparkle 4522 Red, 4524 Blue. Mixed with 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear. Applied over 6002 AutoBorne Sealer Black. Thank you.

Createx paints, including this candy-pearl mix will work well to refinish a brake caliper and handle the high heat well. Start with AutoBorne Sealer, which best application, could be applied over a high heat epoxy direct-to=metal primer; although applying AutoBorne Sealer direct to the existing brake caliper finish works well. Top-coat with a 2k urethane or epoxy clear. Thank you.
Cool, candy2o 4655 Marine Blue mixed with either W423 Hot Rod Sparkle Blue or W444 Cosmic Sparkle Blue will work well. Thank you. wickedairbrushcolors.com/pearl-flakes
A candy pearl is simply mixing a candy and a pearl, which with Createx is candy2o mixed with a wide range of pearl options: Wicked / Auto Air Colors pearlescent & metallic colors, Auto Air Cosmic and Hot Rod Sparkle pearl-flake colors or mixing with Auto Air Sparklescent Colors. Mixing ratios can vary and its important to add a mixing clear such as 4050 UVLS Gloss as candy2o is concentrate. Thank you.
Yes, candy2o Black could be applied over this for a murdered candy finish. It would be on the dark side, but that could be cool for the right paintjob. Thank you.

Follow the mix guide in the video notes for actual amounts needed to make 3 quarts sprayable. Definitely make a test panel or two before the actual paint job. Thank you.
Yes, and a test-panel is highly recommended before the paintjob. Coverage really depends on a lot of variables including technique and application; using the right tip-size is important not only for atomization, but a proper coating in general, as is using a 75/25 over-lapping pattern and ample re-coat time to let each coat dry tack-free. Another candy technique for coverage and even coating development is to apply a "cheater coat" between base silver and Black Cherry mid-coat; mix the two evenly and apply this before actual candy color. This is the best way to get a clean candy paintjob on your truck. We use AutoBorne 6013 Sliver Sealer, www.autoborne.com, for the base metallic. For a gold, use Wicked W350 Metallic Gold, wickedairbrushcolors.com/pearl-and-metallic, applied over AutoBorne Sealer Grey or Sealer White mixed 1:1 Sealer Yellow, www.autoborne.com. Thank you.

Aye can you show me a hot pink candy with a rose gold pearl on top and of course clear
My dad is building a 73 Impala 350. And he wants the bumpers, front grille, all the trim, emblems rose gold with a hot pink candy but my idea was to put rose gold pearl over so when it hit the light you can see the rose gold innthe paint too! 😂
We made a candy hot pink video, ua-cam.com/video/DZ9abknPwO4/v-deo.html. For a rose-gold pearl, try adding Wicked W446 Cosmic Sparkle Autumn Red to it, or over it. Thanks.
You made a nice video
