    It's so sad to me, to hear people diss this track. It may not be the best track they've ever released but it has so much depth. I personally feel like the tone of the song as a whole is very fitting when you look at the subject matter. (For those who may not know, the album is inspired by the writing and philosophy of Albert Camus.)

      @gordon6684 never claimed it was. I just wish people wouldn't be so negative about it not being their best track. Since when did everyone develop such unrealistic expectations? It's a good song. The arrangement is great. It's unique in the way it combines all these different elements.

    I could be totally wrong, but my interpretation of the song is that this is about how our entire universe might just be a figment of our imagination, and that nothing actually exists. Since we cannot prove "we" actually exist definitively, it could just be that our entire life is just a dream.
    Lyrics such as the chorus" I'm a God, I'm awake, I'm the one in everything. I'm alive, I'm the dead, I'm a man without a head" lead me to believe this, how everything can just be our imagination and we are not a person but rather an entire universe.
    In the beginning the skeleton comes out of the man's body, and I think that is him "realizing" this reality, breaking free from his body and observing the "fake" world around him (everyone is frozen in time, price tags on flowers and barcodes on the bottom of rocks). Similarly, maybe the man had just died in the chair, and the rest of the video is kind of like a "Game Over" screen with him learning about the world he thought was real the whole time.
    I think the title "Nobody" means we might not actually be a real person.

    From A7X page: "The video is old-school traditional stop motion for the most part. Myself and the band are big fans of this medium - it seemed just right for the track. I had a lot talks with Matt and Zacky and eventually we came to the concept, look, and feel. Production started in early January, and over 8 weeks we built these huge incredibly complex sets in two different scales, painted 100s of tiny skeletons, and brought the whole thing to life. Stop motion is an intense, slow, and old process, and working fast over a short time frame can be tricky, but we had a great crew who were dedicated to getting this done - I really can't thank them enough. I've done a lot of stop frame videos over the years, but this is one of my favorites to date." - Director, Chris Hopewell

  • @boeingdriver7375
    @boeingdriver7375 Рік тому +3

    To me, the interpretation of the music video is this:
    A man is depressed in the world and body he lives in. So his soul travels around the earth and through history to find peace and joy. He realizes that the world is full of death and destruction and so meets the devil who then tells him he will take the man's soul to a eutopic paradise. The man agrees and lets the devil take him to this eutopic paradise in a different world. When the man arrives he realizes that this "perfect place" is actually an artificially created hell where no one else exists and everything is fake (because a perfect artificial eutopic world does not actually exists). And so the mans soul runs to the edge of this hell and jumps off into the space time continuum to then rejoin his body. The moral of the story is to be careful what you ask for because you just might get it. Be careful searching for paradise because what you think is paradise might actually be hell in the end.

    I think the video is definitely tied into the song. Havent dug deep into the lyrics yet but there seems to be a general idea that we are all the same. We are all skeletons in meat suits going to work and living life pretending to be somebodies, but in fact we are all "Nobody". This distinction being implied to be the core reason for why we fight each other, and those who can't deal find fake distractions to run away to in life. i.e. a wonderland where everything still has price tags. Very much fits the tone of what The Stage was going for. Loved this song. Cannot wait for the new album. These things always get better when you get to hear how they fit into the whole album.

    He was going for a different vocal style with this album, the vocals are supposed to convey a feeling of anxiety and tension as the song lyrics are about the idea of existence and how meaningless finding meaning in life is, this song specifically is about how you are the world and everything, the song is supposed to sound full of anxiety about life and lack of purpose

    My take is he commits suicide, proceeds to see life as is (a chaotic mess), the grim reaper comes to take him to the after life and upon arriving the main skeleton sees that it's not what he was expecting. That looks are deceiving (hence the price tag confusion). So the skeleton is upset with his decision trying to get back to his body and upon his return to his body he is reminded that this is it, there's no turning back. So he sits back into his body trying to feel what once was.

    I like a lot of A7X and im not a fan of the rest. They built this song up on the local radio station for like a week, reminded me of old school radio where the whole audience tuned in at a certain hour to hear the new stuff like they use to do back in the 80's and 90's. I was driving, i cranked it, loved the purge horn, was confused about the rest. Once it went off i turned the radio off. Didnt like the flow.
    I watched the video later after work and liked it a bit more. Everytime it came on the radio i would crank it and hear something new. Now its close to top five for me after dozens of times listening and the same watching reactions. Top five with Bat Country, BatH, Critical Acclaim, Nightmare, Hail to the King and Shepherd of Fire because they all go there even though i said five. I like a lot if the other ones as well besides the fanboi favorites of Little Piece of Heaven because it felt campy to me. Wasnt shocking, just silly.
    I didnt like "The Stage" at all. Probably listened to it once and threw it in the trash along with Slipknot's "All Hope Is Gone".
    As Britney Griner says about the national anthem now, this one just hits different. Im glad because i thought A7X was headed for normalcy, but they needed this change. They needed fans ti hate this so they could love it again. Ultimately they do this for the fans and they leave it all on stage. I do wish they would put a little bit more theatrics into their shows as they evolve but they do keep the interaction og as when they started.
    Calling it now, this will be one of those songs that they play live and Shadows wont have to say a word due to the crowd.
