- The Florida Keys are famous across the world for the amazing fishing on offer. Fishermen dream of one day being able to go there!!! Whilst on a family holiday in the Florida Keys I rented us a self drive boat and we fished the famous 7 mile bridge for HUGE Bull Sharks.
Absolute game changer for me on this trip was the navionics charts for the local area. I am not sponsored or affiliated with them but I highly recommend it. www.navionics....

AH the sound of a drag clickers screaming off , beautiful stuff. Cracking mark, local knowledge a bonus too ! Appreciated as always, ( watched this days ago , forgot to leave comment 🙄!) .
Paul
Cheers Paul.
Everyone is scared of sharks, yet that Barracuda was just a solid lump of muscle, anger, and razor blades. I think your mate felt the same when you brought it aboard! What an amazing trip!
@@jonfisher9214 - That is very true
I have been fishing for over 40 years and still learning from John. Thank you.
Every day is a school day mate.
Been in hospital over the whole weekend. This is just the thing to help a chap get back on his feet. Tea's made, time to get sharkin'. Thanks for another great video - probably!
Hope you’re feeling better mate.
Sharks are simply gorgeous fish. Simple colors, no flash, just pure predator
Simple. Effective and brutally designed. Awesome creature.
@TheFishLocker just massive Dogfish with big teeth really😂😂 . Loving the videos in this household John, absolutely top knotch and the way the fish are handled as well. Superb.
Superb start.. not only does it feel like you're catching a shark on a boat with you watching - i'm having to pause it now just to let the heart pumping slow down! 😂👌
Mate it was an adrenaline fueled ride!!
Really lovely colours on the fish there it's amazing, brilliant videos really enjoy watching them
They are stunning aren’t they.
When I was the same age as james, I would have been screaming and shouting if my father had a boat to fish from but left me on shore !
Haha. When targeting sharks like this it’s better to keep him safe at home.
Just what’s needed before I get ready to watch England 🏴
I've been getting 'ready' since 3 o'clock 🍺🍺🍺 🥴😆🏴
Good man. 💪🏻
Come on Spain!!😂
sad times
Was waiting till you had edit it John and it was a pleasure to watch you both catching Florida monsters.
Your bleeding friend had the best part of the day. Not only a huge barracuda but also a massive bullshark on a rod that was not build to catch such a huge fish.
Shows you that Tom is an exelent angler and you were driving the boot very good. It takes 2 to tango 😉.
Greetz from Stipo from Holland
Definitely a team effort and a special capture.
Great video as always 😃😃 Great fishing too. That looked like a Spinner Shark that jumped out of the water to photobomb the video behind you... Well done to the both of you....
It was cool wasn’t it
Thanks for some stunning coverage on the fishing
It is absolutely my pleasure.
once again the best fishing content on youtube you should come on down to rhode island and get on some striped bass
I would love to!!!
I was waiting for this one... and wasn't disappointed.
Fantastic boat control and communication. Tom has a scar to remember that barracuda.
Thanks for the upload John.
Really was a team effort.
Every time I see that bridge I think "The bridge is ouuuuut!!" from True Lies. Love that movie!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Liking the mix with the florida and back home. Hopefully your away in a different part of the country/world at the moment, Love the confidence you have with the Bull sharks. Your experience shows through in the confidence, without the arrogance of the pretenders. Great video John👍🏻
I've been waiting all week for this one. Thanks! Your brown pelican friend making sure you didn't drop anything ⚓
Haha. He was a dopey old bird but fun to see
Wonderful video John, enjoyed it from start to finish. Like you alluded to. Only smudge was your big shark getting away without a tag. Glad you enjoyed your time here. Travel Mercy.
It was close but no cigar unfortunately.
A trip of a life time!!! Amazing fishing and what a session to end on. I was worried when you guys hooked into the second shark and you john was at the helm amd seen that other boat steemeing in but you both handled that to pfection. Amazing stuff mate. Thanks for sharing. All the best tight lines 🎣🎣🎣
There was a few moments where it was touch and go. But we managed it.
What an exciting time the two you had!a bit frightening for me to watch! However,I am in awe of what I saw💥💥💥
It was exciting. Those sharks are a handful.
Great fishing by you both
Great bull shark and Barracuda
cheers John
See you on the next one
See you on the next one mate.
I'm green with envy - great vid guys and tight lines foreever
Cheers Mark.
its probably been said numerous times, but compared to UK waters its seems you are fishing in a aquarium, what a treat,
The U.K. is definitely bland in comparison.
Another good watch, John. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
another great vid .Thanks for a bit of comentery about what your up to with the boat as a fish is hooked , good to know why your chasing it about and what a skipper is trying to do with the postion of the boat with a large fish , alway great vids wherever you are in the world . Something different from just a trophy shot.
It’s difficult to do and even more difficult to explain. I hope the video helps folks.
Simply wow, brilliant action. I don’t think there’s anything that you won’t tackle John, all credit to a master at work. Thanks lads for a very entertaining video👏👏👏❤️
If it’s got fins I’ll have a go at catching it.
Let’s hope England play as well as you guys fish. Exciting video John.
Cheers Mark.
If I'm not mistaking there's a bunch of shark hooks that are made so they rust quickly, in case they bite you off, as they often do, they wont have to swim around with that circle hook for that long of a time. Maybe you got some of those? Great vid as always mate.
Yes and yes.
Great video with some stunning fish. As for the rusty hook, there would have to be more oxygen in the water to rust quicker.
It’s the temperature too.
Wow that must have been exiting
Insane!!!
Oh how I miss Florida right now... I've been away for too dam long..
It’s a special place.
Will you be going out on any other UK boats ? I suggest the Jolly Dodger out of West Bay as it is the last charter boat operating from there.
Spent the day on the Dodger yesterday, the seagulls keep calling the skipper by name, "carl - carl - carl" :)
Haha. If I can I will.
Awesome video, as always. Thank you.
Cheers bud.
Wow what an experience, amazing content! 👍🏼
I was getting ‘Jaws’ vibes. I was waiting for you to say I think we need a bigger boat
Haha.
Was that a shark coming so far up out of the water in the background John or some other type of fish, what ever it was it was a big sucker, Thank you John and Tom for a brilliant fishing day out I have never seen a Barakuda that big, it was massive, you and Tom work well as a team.
Spinner shark I think.
The fish you caught today are stunning thanks for sharing. Hope you are enjoying your holidays.
Thank you.
Superb video John , monster bulls , and that barracuda wow , also the scratching gear fish are stunning
It was a cracker of a trip mate.
Some grand grins you both just gave me with this one as usual top drawer content some lovely Sharks and that Barracuda was a monster!
That cudda was a real bonus fish wasn’t it.
Another great video John. Congrats to Tom for beating that shark on what looks not much more than one of my barbel rods! Best wishes from Yorkshire.
Haha. It certainly was a sporting setup.
Good to hear some proper Navy (Lark) terminology being used there - Left Hand Down a Bit; Right Hand Down a Bit - just missing the iconic Full Steam Ahead Backwards...
Fair takes me back.
It was a team effort mate. 💪🏻🦈
What a stream lads . Great stuff . I would need to win the Loto to have a trip like this so its great to watch and dream. Thanks 👍👍👍
You never know where the future may take you mate.
Do love your shark videos! Top fishing as always lads 👍
Thanks mate.
@TheFishLocker No problem mate! You need to get on them tuna again too 😜
Would you ever take people out to target sharks and tuna? If so how much would you charge? Or are you not interested in doing chartered trips?
Great video John once again 🦈🦈🦈 😊😊
Thanks John.
It's both salinity and temp both work heavily against metal ....colder climate and and salinity are less corrosive ....but anything in the air us opposite ie dry heat no moisture less rust action in uk its opposite more air moister more corrosive action
Agreed
Is he fighting that shark on a 12/20 ? 😂 👏🏻 great job lads 🏴☠️👊🏻
Definitely a lot more luck than skill. 🤣
@@TheFishLockerhaha looks like great fun 😉
Absolutely brilliant. Sound like your from up North originally? Most I've ever caught is a stickleback on a worm but heh! 😂 Brilliant!
That was an incredible video. Absolute belter! 🤘
Cheers bud. Plenty of adrenaline in this one.
Superb, great angling you two. Didn't want that to end!!
We had an insane trip. Truly epic fishing.
Amazing video!!
Thank you.
Ahh this answers my question from your last video! Did wonder why you liked it but didn’t reply 😂 cracking few videos of your trip John 👍🏼
I’ve been away working and at a fishing comp so haven’t been able to do the comments for a couple of weeks.
@@TheFishLocker yeah I saw you were down in Cowes 👍🏼
Great video lads, there were some cracking fish !!!,,👍🏴😉
Thanks Phil.
Thanks John great fishing and that bridge!! Remember seeing it in the Arnie
Film "True Lies" looks like you all had/ are having a great time thanks again
YES!!! The end scene in the fighter jet!!
Even the tinest of freshwater roach here in Holland swallows my hook whole and it gets stuck it its eye and somehow these seafish are always nicely hooked:P
Partly to do with the angler. 😉🤣🎣
john, have you ever considered preparing and eating those snakelocks anemones you see so many of on your freedives? they're a delicacy here in the Mediterranean! you just soak them in vinegar (to remove the sting) and then deep fry them! I'd love to see if you think they're good or not.
wow excellent footage and fishing too mega channel great stuff as always
Thanks John.
You should come up to Lake Superior where there is some of the best salmon fishing in the world. Water stays very cold year round and this fish is amazing. Best smoked fish in the world
I would love that. 💙🎣
@@TheFishLocker plan yourself a trip up to the keweenaw peninsula. Best place in the world. Relatively unknown, clear water and unreal shoreline. Hope to see you sometime.
Well done John and Tom. Oddly enough I was out yesterday shark fishing from Looe with 3 friends on a great charter boat with a wonderful skipper and crewman. Beautiful weather and a blue shark each up to 71". That was a huge 'cuda, thanks for the video.
Forgot to say, all were NOAA tagged before release.
Awesome, who was the skipper?
@@TheFishLocker Pete (Sharky Pete) Warrior II. Pete said he'd met you.
Spanish mackerel is good to eat. And it also makes great shark bait because it's oily
I agree
Well that helped cheer me up after the football John, thanks 😆🐟🎣🦈
Haha. Bit of a sad showing wasn’t it mate.
If there is ever a moment where I start to draw a question, I always tell myself "John knows what hes doing." I will be honest. I was curious why the clicker was on, and you explained it, and taught me something yet again 😂 Every day is a learning day! 🙃 Great video as always. John!
Haha. I do my best to think of questions people may ask before time.
Stunning video boy's. Well done.
Glad you enjoyed it mate.
Think you need some fishlocker branded mesh caps to fit in better in florida
That’s an idea.
Awesome vid mate 👍👏🎣
Cheers bud.
More excellence for my Sunday. Come on algorithm, make an effort!
Sometimes the UA-cam algorithm just does as it pleases.
Sooo this is why ya don't want a winch for your pots , workout for sharks 😂😂 nice work gentlemen 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🤟🏼🤙🏼🖖🏼🇳🇿
Haha.
Awesome John
Cheers bud.
I assume that corniche waters were unfishable this week good action anyway
Weather has been horrendous.
Screaming runs in wonderful area great fishing
We love it in the keys.
Brilliant video again, will you be posting your cowes video? I live in east cowes and would love to see how you got on and which marks you used
I didn’t film but there will be content posted on the Boatlife channels.
@@TheFishLocker thank you, I will check that out
Hell yeah, been waiting for this one.... WHACKED em!!
Cheers bud, I’m sorry I haven’t emailed. I’m working.
Nice one lads from GRIMSBY
awsome video John some nice fish🎣
Thanks Adam.
Another great day in Florida, you'll be back there again soon! What a shame that you lost that first skark, so near and yet so far. Is that curved rod handle a fit on extension?
No it’s a bent butt my design. So it fits in the holder better.
Good camera work.
Thank you.
I’ve just put the football on John, needless to say this is going to be better than the football final as always brilliant.
Cheers bud.
Excellent video loved the barracuda it looked like a pike on crack 😂
They are just like an angry saltwater pike!!
Cracking video. Much better than the football! So when you hook one of those sharks do you totally detatch the boat from the anchor while you fight it and then afterwards go back to the buoy and pick up the anchor?
Correct.
U need stop at local Dive shop or go find fish chart of the area you are fishing in. Fish identification chart
We had one.
@@TheFishLocker have fun. I hope y’all have safe travels. Love your channel
Nice 👍 welcome to the fish Locker!
💪🏻🎣
I bet your shoulders are screaming after that fight 💪💪
Haha. It was a workout.
I'm not jealous at all Mr Locker...nope , not one little bit😂 but please leave some fish in the sea for me to catch...even little ones will do.😚 love the videos, watching them knowing I'll be back in Cornwall fishing again..( when I say fishing I mean thrashing the water to a foam in the hope something gullible will bite)😂
Haha. 🤣🎣
Mr Locker is that a mix of Durham/ Darlo accent? Love the commentary as you sound local to us Durham pit yakkers. All the best.
Hi John! I've been watching your videos for years now and can see that comments are paused on your recent videos. I'd love that one day you could fish somewhere in asia such as the mekong river for some amazing fish! I've been there but was unable to fish due to the time I had in Laos and the budget. It would be awesome if you could go there one day!
I paused the videos during the school holidays. I did not have the time to respond to everyone as we were spending time enjoying the summer as a family.
Nice work my friends. 👍👍
Thank you.
Was it tarpon that jump out at end of video cause it was huge .outer top video.
Spinner shark I think
Enjoy your fishing 🎣
Thank you, I do
Beautiful day 💯

Love it John!!
💪🏻🦈
Hi John. I a fan of yours and always pick up handy tips from you cheers! I’m also a member of Cardiff bay yacht club fishing section we are holding a summer open competition on the 17th of august and was wondering if you would be interested in fishing the comp ? Catch and release. Please let me know yr thoughts cheers 👍🏼
@@theexplorer6654 thank you for the offer but I’m booked solid for the next 6 weeks
gotcha, commenting before watching sorry, will edit at the end. 4 mins yahoo! A brahmer lads, thank you so much, regards to the family John, greetings from a hot Cyprus. Loved it, believe Bull sharks cause many more deaths than Great Whites? 🤗🤗🐟🐟🐟🐟🤗🤗
You are right.
Off to Georgia on a family visit in a few weeks and will be doing some sea fishing. TBH I'd prefer not to run into any sharks, I'll just settle for Redfish, Flounder and Sheepshead!
Good luck my friend.
Why wouldn't anyone want to hear that awesome clicking of the shark fighting? It tells us viewers what's happening underwater! I love that sound. I guess some people just like to moan, John!
People will moan about everything.
@TheFishLocker it's all everyone does now boss!
Wondered how you went straight into all that maneuvering.
Wire needed for that class of shark.
Rusty hooks will be impeded in their smooth setting into the mouth of the fishes..I imagine
Nice barracuda...
Was that a mako?
I think it was a spinner shark.
@@TheFishLocker cool shark to catch..as well
Where to get the mackerel hoodie you are wearing. I asked before, and there is not one in your merchandise offer under the video.
They will be restocked on the website soon.
Hi Mate great videos ! Just watched your latest one 'family stuff in Florida' . Whats the name of those lures you are using for barracuda please (look like pink plastic) ? cheers
1st fish bit through the [piano wire] leader - don't you tell me my job! (Robert Shaw: Jaws). 🙄
Haha. Pretty much exactly that.
Hey mr fish locker i have a couple of silly questions 1 why do you tag sharks, what information do you get from the tags, how do you aquire the tags can anybody tag a shark,2 do you personally get info from the sharks you tag 3 do you tag sharks in the uk and if not why? Just wondering 😅
I have tagged info into the video description
