  • Join us as we fish for the amazing white sturgeon in the upper Canyon of the Fraser River in BC - Canada. These fish have been a dream capture for me for well over 20 years and it was amazing to be able to fish for them with my family. This trip was with Jon, a guide with the Fraser River Lodge - www.fraserriverlodge.com/fishing

    Everything about this trip just made it an all time best ever. The amazing scenery, phenomenal natural beauty, the sheer unknown of what could be on the line next. A 2lb fish or a 10ft fish? Being able to do something I have been dreaming about for over 20 years and best of all, doing it with my family. Amazing. 💙

    Incredible wow, when Mrs fishlocker started on that monster with the sound of the train horn, and the cheers as the fish jumped, and James catching his own dinosaur, what a fantastic skipper who was as excited as you to see you catch a legendary monster of the deep. I know I've written wow before, but wow, that was amazing. Thanks again for taking us on your amazing adventure.

    The amazement in James' voice, when that little pike-minnow took the whole floater under the water~😅 I think today he learned that it's not always about the size of the fish in the fight, but the size of the fight in your fish!😂🎣🐟 It looks like you guys had a blast and a half! after a 9-foot, 400+ pound fish, no wonder you're beat! 😂

    OMG, I've driven 3 round trips to home in Alaska. Had I known there were sturgeon in the Frazer, I would have found a dog sitter and booked a guide for me. I have been after that fish since about 1958 or 1959 on the Carquinez Straits near San Francisco. Thank you so much for the wonderful trip. Great job James and Hannah.

      when i lived in the small town of Crockett, Ca in the SF Bay Area from 96 to 2004 there was an 11' sturgeon mounted at the small museum caught in the Cartinez straight under the bridge. the old one built the same time as the golden gate. too bad you didn't take a trip out to the Farallons. the weirdest place.

    You know, I haven't been fishing since I was a young fry (yes, gratuitous fish joke intended 🐟), but watching your videos makes me relive the Dad-and-Young-Daughter fishing trips with so much nostalgic fondness. Lost Dad in 2020 😪, and no longer fish, myself, but I do watch every one of your videos and just smile from being allowed to share in your family's joys, celebrations, achievements ... and cooking! If I wasn't at the age I am, I'd be relocating to England and begging to be adopted! Many warm thanks and hugs. And hug James for me, as well. He rocks, as always. ❤

    What an absolute pleasure to watch your family enjoying fishing and making wonderful memories, Reminds me of my childhood when my father would take me out fishing. give a man a fish he will eat for the day, teach a man to fish and he will eat for a life time was one of my favourite sayings to hear as a small child, It makes me truly happy to see parents taking the time to teach their children how to fish. I now have another reason to visit the Frasier River besides rock hunting, 2 of my favorite hobbies in one place! So glad you and the family enjoyed this part of Mother Earth. Come back again!

      Wow. What is the visibility like?

    • @marksando3082
      @marksando3082 10 місяців тому

      @@TheFishLocker Depends a lot on conditions. Generally vis is best in the winter with summer of course experiencing heavy algae blooms that can really knock vis down below 10 ft but also very heavy sustained rainfall during winter can cause lots of sediment in the Strait and poor vis. But in good conditions visibility of 20-50 ft is more typical. So much invertebrate life including lots of soft corals.

    Another phenomenal video. My family emigrated to Canada when I was 12 from London. Those totems are a reminder that Vancouver, one of the most expensive cities in the world, was built on Native Indian land. And should be respected, as the historical lands claims still to this day, make their way through the court system. Thanks so much for this series of videos. Glad you didn’t meet up with a big grizzly bear ! They can eat a bison for breakfast !

    T'is great to see James happy to handle the fish, so many kids these days are aborhent to handling anything that isn't soft and cuddly. That landing strecher' is a brilliant piece of kit, couldn't be any better for the fishes health. More species for James' Catch Log! That one Hanna hooked, reminded me of the film 'The old man and the sea' epic battle, mind you I think Hanna tired it out for you mate! Have to say these fish fight like few others but when they give in they are incredibly docile.Thanks for sharing your experience John and thanks to Jon for his knowledge.

      It was an absolute battle mate. The skipper John actually said that I’m the best on the rod he’s had aboard the boat as that fish truly was a scrapper.

    Finally got the chance to sit down and catch up with this and WOW am I glad I did , not sure even calling it a fish of a life time does that justice as that's the sort of thing that gets talked about fot generations and with James on board I'm pretty sure its a story he'll tell for the rest of his life , massive props to the skipper as well and to that poor little outboard screaming while fighting that current

    Loved this video. I can vouch for how the camera just doesn't capture the breathtaking beauty of the scenery. I used to visit canada when in the Army and took guys climbing in the Rockies as I was a top rope and abseiling instructor. I never got the chance to fish but after watching this fantastic family holiday you had, what a chance I missed! Guys have settled in Canada since leaving the Services and a mate of mine recently posted a pic on FB of a sturgeon he caught there. Fantastic sporting fish and that 400lb+ beast has got to be up there as a fish of a lifetime, although there'll no doubt be more to come. Beret off to you for your great channel and for achieving the recognition across the globe that your skill at fishing deserves. I taught my son to fish as well and it still bonds us today as it will you and James 👌
