the broadway melody ballet from singing in the rain. I love singing in the rain it is my second favorite movie of all time. I just rewatched two days ago for my 18th birthday but I hate that scene. it stops the plot dead in its tracks, doesn't feel like the rest of the film, doesn't add much to the film, it isn't funny, when listening to the album it just stops the music, and goes on for way too long.
I wouldn't call these "terrible" as the actual filming and acting in the scene is well done but the kiss scene in Bladerunner always rubs me the wrong way. The dialogue and actions taken take me out of the film with how aggressive the romance is being played out. And while maybe just my opinion, the scene doesn't feel as if it's trying to blur the lines in terms of its protagonists morals or the worlds. Comes off as unintentional. And some people may find it funny but The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a fantastic film and while many of his little dream sequences are meant to be odd and self-indulgent, the Benjamin Button dream sequence, despite being brief, is just too weird. it's not a straight up action scene like many of his other dreams, but also isn't as subtle as some of his later fantasies. It seems to be at a perfect grey area of not being crazy enough while also not being grounded enough. Takes me out of the scene and reminds me of another film (and a weird one) which ultimately rips me out of the story completely. But humor is subjective, maybe I'm just too sensitive to the oddity of that scene. Loses a lot of its charm in that moment.
@@PancakeOnUA-cam The Chinese restaurant scene in A Christmas Story hasn't aged particularly well. There's a couple scenes in the godfather I think could be reworked for pacing, but the scene where Sonny beats up Carlo in the street is so poorly shot so as to make it obvious that none of the hits are real. Absolutely robs the scene of impact. Uh, I don't think BvS is great, in fact I think it's bad, but I think it's like 4/10 bad instead of 1 or 2/10 bad unlike seemingly most people. But the Martha scene is insane. It deserves to get memed on. Keeping on with DC, the end of Wonder Woman with Ares being the ultimate villain really rubbed me the wrong way on like two different levels... Both plot and theming. Just makes the messaging of the movie way weaker while making less sense plot wise just to have a climactic final villain fight. I haven't seen it, but I've seen many people (including my parents) berate the obviously fake baby in American Sniper.
I have a genuine distaste for the fake porno scene in The Big Lebowski. It’s always felt a little off to me and I’ve never really enjoyed watching it. I don’t think it’s a horrible scene, it just feels like it’s in the wrong movie.
A scene that comes to mind is one in the new Robocop when the scientist character is taking apart Murphy and showing him his internal organs and taking him apart. Murphy horrified and disgusted with what he has become asks to be killed. It's a cool moment of body horror and feels very original for a otherwise uninteresting movie.
Wow I actually just saw this scene in a clip and was talking about how so many people forget about the horror of Robocop, but somehow this random scene in this bad reboot totally nails it. It's the slow reveal of how much is actually gone, the way you can see his vocal chords move to form words, even the realization that his human hand is really just meat on a swivel.
I read Mortal Engines growing up, and while I never saw the film adaptation, Shrike felt exactly the same in the books. He would just *show up* like a horror movie monster and almost kill Hester. One of the most memorable aspects of the series, and there was a lot to love in it! Another moment in Mortal Engines (the books) that still sticks with me today is Hester finding a tiny chapel smooshed between the monoliths that comprised most of the religious ward. A sliver of a building, a final testament to a religion long forgotten, and as Hester is drawn into the building, it's clear to the reader that it's a Christian chapel. Something about Christianity, one of the most dominant religions of the modern day, being entirely forgotten really drove home just how much has been lost in the world of Mortal Engines, and just how different the world is, more even than the giant roving cities that eat each other.
@dinglebloopynoop5053 you are totally right! I haven't read these books since about 2008 so my memory is slightly shoddy; I had actually just written "a character" initially because I hadn't pictured Hester, but I had pictured a teenage girl, then decided it must've been Hester. Thanks for the correction.
Another part i like about that scene is that Oenone is an engineer, who is likely to be the least religious out of many characters, so the scene opens up philosophical questions of her faith & her place there under her conscience. All the books were truly brilliant. If only the movie was adapted more accurately, it could have been better.

I have an example myself. Eagle Eye is a mediocre 2000s political thriller where Shia LaBouef has to stop an evil computer from assassinating the President. It’s pretty meh and has very muddled politics, but early on there’s one great scene. Shia goes to his brother’s funeral. He hasn’t seen him in a long time, and when he walks up to his brother’s coffin, he just breaks down in tears and starts weeping. It’s not movie crying, it’s real, ugly crying. It’s a raw emotional scene in an otherwise bland and safe movie
Shrike & Anna Fang were the only interesting characters in Mortal Engines. They were both so visually striking & intriguing in a narrative that was otherwise pretty rote, predictable, & overly long. I wanted a whole story dedicated to Anna Fang and her adventures in that gorgeous red flyer of hers.
Fr. Shrike is the only thing I remember of the movie. He captivated me right from the start. Its kind of annoying how i want to learn more about the character but can't find any videos on UA-cam except talking about yje film.
@@kingpotato7183IDK if you are aware, or have even read it, but mortal engines is a book adaptation (which is far better than the film), and it tells the reader far more about Shrike than the movie does.
That’s really funny because Anna Fang DOES have an entire story dedicated to her in the ‘Night Flights’ spinoff book that was made to promote the movie.
In regards to Mortal Engines wasn't Hestor actually okay with becoming a cyborg like Shrike, but she discovered the guy who killed her mother and wanted to get revenge. This offended Shrike because she'd already promised and committed to becoming a cyborg but also it ran the risk that if she were killed pursuing revenge Shrike wouldn't have been able to save her, additionally the process of becoming a cyborg strips one of most of their emotions, as such something like revenge becomes trivial and unnessecary because when you're practically immortal if you want some dead you can just wait.
Often times I can tell wether the movie I’m watching (at the very least by the end) makes it to my personal list of all time greatest, and so when I’m watching my weekly movie in the theater I love noticing these kinds of moments so much - even in movies that are good, just not in my list of ‘ascended’ films. One that I remember vividly is the needle drop from Abigail where one of the characters goes full vampire and dances to blood and tears by mansig. I was completely enamored by that scene while watching and it stood out so much for me. I’m addicted to it I don’t know why. Another music related mention (which I’m realizing is sort of a cheat code) is after the insane 3rd venom movie, after the even more insane collection of songs in the end credits, the final track is the greatest movie tie-in banger of all time that comes out of completely nowhere. I tried shazaming it AND looking it up right away to add it to my Spotify and it hadn’t even been released yet and wouldn’t be for another week or so. Knull and Void - Csarface
I remember my ex in highschool showing me moulin rouge! And i kept saying that it was headache inducing and she just kept saying "just wait, the best scene is coming" and sure as shit, that scene saves the whole movie for me lol
Mortal Engines is criminally underrated. It’s a great story, fantastic VFX, and apart from a few details + the ending the story isn’t too far from the book. Overall, pretty amazing adaptation.
I am writing a book, the main villain is an old ashy demon man. The book originally started as a rebellion as Salazar was an amazing villain in an awful movie. I wanted to do his character justice. The book changes a lot of things and he is far from the same character, but I’m glad somebody found the same love for that villain as me.
The man from uncle is PEAK. I agree it’s probably more style over substance but no film has given me the same feeling as that film the first time i saw it
I know Zack Snyder seems to be seen as public enemy number one on a lot of internet sites, but every one of his movies in my eyes, even his ones that aren't that good, have at least one stand out scene. Sucker Punch has the opening and the love is the drug scene, Army of the Dead has the Viva Las Vegas opening montage, and Rebel Moon had some fantastic stuff like Ed Skrein invading Toa at the beginning of the directors cut (yes, a lot of these scene happen to be openings) I agree with your assessment of Watchmen. Jackie Earle Haley is phenomonal in that role. However, I think he sometimes steals attention away from how good most of the rest of the cast are. Billy Crudup, Patrick Wilson, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are all very memorable in their roles.
The mortal engines book series have been my favorite books for nearly 20 years. I was too afraid to watch the movie because I heard it was Very Bad, this is literally the first scene I've seen from it.
if I could recommend any bad movie that I would guess most people haven't watched or heard of: Virtuosity (1995). russell crowe gives one of my favorite ever villain performances put to screen, and I don't know if I can pick just one scene with him. maybe the part where he takes an entire club hostage and happily remixes their screams on futuristic turntables
I really enjoyed Watchmen and I liked the change to making Manhattan the big threat at the end instead of a random alien. Of course we know now that the world can't even come together to beat a pandemic.
I mean, calling the alien at the end of Watchmen 'random' is pretty wrong since the island of artists is continually referenced throughout the novel... it makes sense in the context of it.
Crazy that this is coming out now cause I recently started thinking a lot about Mortal Engines and the first time since I read it ages ago. It's genuinely a great YA Novel and yeah, the Shrike and Hester stuff was easily the most memorable aspect. What his presence does to Hester and questioning her own humanity does so much for her character and arc. I still haven't seen the movie (cause I'm bitter about them nerfing Hester's facial scarring like it's so integral to her character but whatever I guess) but I checked out the score recently and I was on the same page even before I came here, Shrike motif goes hard. Junkie XL just gets it sometimes, like with Mad Max. Anyway, great vid... Days of Future Past is goated tho, for shame (I have much nostalgic bias)
The scene of quicksilver in xmen apocalypse reminds me of the episode of Futurama when Fry drinks 100 coffees in a day. honestly wouldn't be surprised if they were inspired by it.
I laughed out loud in the theater at Mortal Engines when Hugo Weaving freed the android guy from the prison, and then blew up the prison and everyone else in it for no reason. The movie’s full of stupid shit like that.
It's not exactly a bad moment from an otherwise good movie per se, but more like a couple of what I feel are bad decisions in an otherwise pretty solid movie. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End has a lot of good stuff going for it. The ship battle at the finale, the characters working through strained relationships, the return of Barbosa - all of it's great. But I was really bothered that they more or less throw Norrington into the garbage in the early acts of the movie, especially when they did a lot of interesting stuff with him previously. After taking him in a really cool direction in the last movie, his death feels like a wet fart of a finish for an otherwise pretty cool character, and as much as Geoffrey Rush is fantastic as Barbosa, you probably could have kept him dead and left more room for Norrington to get back into the plot and redeem himself. The other big thing is the battle at the end. The fight between the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman is excellent, but it's weird and kind of disappointing that we spend a whole movie building to this huge showdown between the East India Trading Company and the remaining pirates, gathering a whole armada of rogues...only for two ships to duke it out for ten minutes while the others just uselessly stand by and then the EITC give up the moment the Dutchman is sunk.
I can't believe the "I'm not locked in here with you, YOU ARE LOCKED IN HERE WITH ME!" scene from Watchmen didn't get a mention... but overall still a great video.
First movie that came to mind for me is the 98 Godzilla film. It’s pretty bad, even though it’s a guilty pleasure for me. However, one scene that will always stand out for me was when we first see Godzilla rising from the water, with boats stuck all over the dorsal spines. That whole scene of Godzilla first terrorizing New York City is great.
How about movie universes you'd like to live in? I remember coming home from the theatre as a kid/teen and wishing I could be a tertiary character in whatever i just watched haha
“Nope” is a perfect movie except for the one part when they are making a plan to kill Jean Jacket and the old director starts spoken word-ing “flying purple people eater”. That part is hilariously ass
I think that Peele was trying to create a feeling of uncanny with that scene, but I agree that it came off more confusing than anything, and it took me out of it for a second lol
sorry for having no chill; 15:08 that word 'epitome' is pronounced 'eh-pit-oh-me' i know, i know, i also once didnt realize that was that word and it was spelled like that. i must now go around sharing my knowledge for the benefit of others
There is a movie called Bodies Bodies Bodies filmed by Halina Reijn that's essentially a whodunit type film. It stars Amandla Stenberg and Maria Bakalova as they try to figure out who is killing their friends one by one at a pool party gone wrong. In my opinion it's a bad movie but there is a great scene where the group, in hysterics, blames one of the characters for the killing. It's masterfully done because they try to gaslight him into confessing, learn that he is probably not lying about his alibi but then kill him anyway as a means of "self-defense".
The movie was a huge commercial success, critical success and a hit with movie goers so... it doesn't fit in this type of video. Even if you didn't like it.
Gotta disagree on the Watchmen picks. Both scenes *significantly* detract from the original narrative. Showing the opening fight scene in full completely removes all ambiguity surrounding the Comedian's death for the audience. And the addition of Nite Owl II's reaction and presence at Rorschach's death kind of defeats the point of their whole dynamic. Nite Owl was not really Rorschach's friend, they just happened to fall in together over the central mystery and nostalgia for the old days since he was tired of his deadbeat, impotent life. Once that mystery is gone and he falls in with Laurie, Rorschach returns to being an afterthought to him. This serves a major theme of the comic- nobody was truly committed to the superhero philosophy/life except for maybe Hooded Justice. They just adopted the lifestyle to either escape from the mundanity of life, react to childhood trauma or serve their own egos.
If I had to say edge of tomorrow was a pretty great action movie except for the scene where they need the general to help them except everything goes up and it ultimately feels wasted time just to set up an artificial end
I think the reason having Night Owl screaming witnessing the dead of Rorschach was a bad decision, is that the entire point of the comic is "these guys are pathetic, YOU SHOULD NOT LIKE THEM, THEY SHOULD NOT FEEL EPIC". The dead in the comics it's so unceremoniously quick, no cool shapes in the snow, no slow-mo, just a man vs a god, dying like any man would die vs a god.
I like your take here even if I don’t fully agree with it, I don’t think the point here is that Rorschach is insignificant the point is he is unwilling to change or compromise what he believes in even in the face of certain death at the hand of a God, it’s like a final judgment, even if his world view is flawed (btw I hate how in the film they cut out his political views, to me that is an integral element of the character), I kind of like how witnessing this all go down kind of breaks Night Owl

My favorite Watchmen movie detail is adding the line "I feel fear for the last time" to Dr. Manhattan's backstory, which wasn't in the graphic novel.
My favourite detail was when Dr Manhattan refered to his old self as Osterman in third person showing just how detached he had become from humanity.

@aeygi9686 yeah im aware. But dont really want to dedicate the time to read a fantasy novel.
Those things are huge.
I have to say, your spoiler warining edits are insane. You make fantastic videos❤
Another fantastic video from my favorite UA-camr
And i kept saying that it was headache inducing and she just kept saying "just wait, the best scene is coming" and sure as shit, that scene saves the whole movie for me lol
the music in 3:35 fit very good with the scene of the mortal engines
After you mentioned the ship, an idea popped into my head. Different vehicles in movies/series. Could be a fun video.
X men days of Future is really good, IMO. Flawed, but very fun and entertaining! ❤
BABE WAKE UP NEW PANCAKE VIDEO JUST DROPPED‼️‼️‼️
The music choice in the beginning was immaculate.
Pancake what a find with that Dr Dog cover!! You make good content. Keep it up
Mortal Engines is criminally underrated. It’s a great story, fantastic VFX, and apart from a few details + the ending the story isn’t too far from the book. Overall, pretty amazing adaptation.
I think the dinner scene in TUSK is a contender for this.
I watched watchmen with my cousins not knowing what I was getting into and the Rorschach scenes are something else
I agree it’s probably more style over substance but no film has given me the same feeling as that film the first time i saw it
love these videos!
Woah what a unique editing style
I know Zack Snyder seems to be seen as public enemy number one on a lot of internet sites, but every one of his movies in my eyes, even his ones that aren't that good, have at least one stand out scene.
Sucker Punch has the opening and the love is the drug scene, Army of the Dead has the Viva Las Vegas opening montage, and Rebel Moon had some fantastic stuff like Ed Skrein invading Toa at the beginning of the directors cut (yes, a lot of these scene happen to be openings)
I agree with your assessment of Watchmen.
I kind of appreciate any villain who just kinda goes out of his way to be evil for no reason lmao
Such a good line/delivery
Sir, it's Raffie Cassidy that plays young Celeste and Celeste's daughter in Vox Lux. Stacy Martin is the sister
Since when was days of future past considered a bad movie?
You lost me with watchmen and days of futures past there great movies
I don't agree that Days of Future Past is bad
First movie that came to mind for me is the 98 Godzilla film. It’s pretty bad, even though it’s a guilty pleasure for me. However, one scene that will always stand out for me was when we first see Godzilla rising from the water, with boats stuck all over the dorsal spines. That whole scene of Godzilla first terrorizing New York City is great.
Great job highlighting some wonderful scenes. Epitome is pronounced 'Eh-pit-oh-mee' :)
I love Watchmen but have absolutely 0 interest in the series because Rorschach isn't in it, he carried the whole story.
It was ass dw
How about movie universes you'd like to live in? I remember coming home from the theatre as a kid/teen and wishing I could be a tertiary character in whatever i just watched haha
“Nope” is a perfect movie except for the one part when they are making a plan to kill Jean Jacket and the old director starts spoken word-ing “flying purple people eater”. That part is hilariously ass
He was quoting a song if you didn't know.
@@armp1tthenormalguy176ya i know. Still super silly tho
I think that Peele was trying to create a feeling of uncanny with that scene, but I agree that it came off more confusing than anything, and it took me out of it for a second lol
I was watching that with my friend and I genuinely thought it terrified me but I don’t know why😊
Hard disagree. Decent movie with a mediocre final act, but that scene was cool enough.
Dude almost every film you have on the list is a great movie...
I like the Quicksilver scene. I also liked it when Futurama did it first…
sorry for having no chill; 15:08 that word 'epitome' is pronounced 'eh-pit-oh-me' i know, i know, i also once didnt realize that was that word and it was spelled like that. i must now go around sharing my knowledge for the benefit of others
6 minute intro is crazy
Half of these are good to great buddy is TRIPPIN
okay but atleast put bad movies on this list, dofp, moulin rouge and american hustle are good movies
Days fo future past a bad movie? What?
it’s mid/bad movies. definitely not a bad movie but i agree with his “just alright” take
@jewljoel431 I thought it was a great ride
sometimes i watch kung fu panda 3 just to see the scene he becomes a dragon
Fun video but the pronunciation of “epitome” made me chuckle
I liked deadman tell no tales. Not the best of the 5, but still amazing to watch.
oh this is like that Jacob geller video
Young Celeste and Albertine is played by Raffey Cassidy
looks like mental outlaw is cashing in, rip
God these video's are fantastic
Do more of this.
Watchmen is not a bad movie. WTF?
It's one of the best movies ever made.
pancake why did you choose an awful version of el tango del roxanne
