Kind of reminiscent of the dinner scene from the Samogonchiki(Yuri Nikulin, Georgy Vitsin, Yevgeny Morgunov). It’s also reminiscent of every lunch during a hunting/fishing trip lunch with my friends/relatives.

Haha 😂 I'm danish but my boyfriend is russian and we eat very differently,- he's all about simply food: a tomato, some bread or pasta and he's good 😅 He loves marinated tomatoes, he says that a very typical russian thing, so is that true? 😄

My hoopie grandmother used to pickle green tomatoes. I miss them.( FYI a hoopie is a name we up in the northern Panhandle of West Virginia use for those who live south of us along the Ohio River. It comes from the cooper's trade of making hoops for wooden barrels. The hoops were made down the river and brought North to make barrels for provisioning riverboats and flatboats years ago)

Ага, ну сочетание соленых огурцов и водки - это вообще "классика". А вот соленые помидоры я никогда не любил. Жена - любит! Но найти "правильно" сделанные тут в у нас трудновато, а самому возиться с засолом неохота... В нашем русском магазине я их, кажется, не видел. Зато соленые - не маринованные! - грибы, пусть даже и не те что растут в России - это да! Это мое! :-)
